Everyone Loves the Alpha, But He’s Not Interested [Transmigration] - Chapter 84
Ask the Devil officially wrapped filming. The actors and crew on set couldn’t help cheering.
Some people cried over Feng Yunyan’s death, but the joy in the atmosphere spread to them. Laughter and tears mingled as emotions ran high.
Ning Xi still had fake blood in her mouth, and more soaked through her costume to her skin. It felt damp and sticky.
She got up from the ground and said to Yu Qingxue, “I’m going to take a quick shower and rinse my mouth. Once you’ve removed your makeup and changed clothes, wait for me in the trailer.”
Yu Qingxue nodded with teary eyes, her voice still trembling. “Okay.”
Ning Xi quickly took a short shower, washing away all the blood from her body and mouth. After changing back into her own clothes, she headed to the trailer to find Yu Qingxue.
On the way, she ran into Jiang Yuanxin, who clapped her on the shoulder with a grin. “The wrap party is set for tomorrow night. You and I need to have a few good drinks.”
Ning Xi replied casually, “Definitely.”
Jiang Yuanxin could tell she wasn’t in the mood to chat and gave a light sigh. “Alright, I won’t hold you up. Go find Qingxue.”
Ning Xi quickened her pace toward the trailer. As she approached, she saw Ren Rong standing in front of the closed door, looking flustered. Her heart skipped a beat. “What’s wrong with Qingxue?”
Ren Rong looked at her as if she had seen her savior. “I followed President Yu back here. She was crying the whole way and couldn’t stop. After she got in the trailer, she closed the door. I bought some water and tried to bring it in, but the door won’t open. I called her name, but she didn’t answer. Could she have fainted from crying?”
Ning Xi took the water bottle from her. “I’ll take it from here. Go get some rest.”
She had the trailer key. Since the driver wasn’t there, she unlocked the driver’s side, pressed the button, and opened the door to the back.
The trailer was quiet.
She walked to the back and saw Yu Qingxue sitting curled up on the single bed, hugging her knees in silence.
Yu Qingxue was crying without a sound.
Her pale cheeks were streaked with tears. Her long lashes were wet, and her light-colored eyes shimmered with sadness. More tears slowly gathered and rolled down.
Ning Xi could tell she was still stuck in the emotions of the scene. She sat beside her and gently tilted her chin up, brushing her thumb across her lip where several small bite marks had formed.
When Yu Qingxue saw Ning Xi’s face, the tears fell harder.
Ning Xi leaned in and kissed her lips, then slid her right hand to the back of Yu Qingxue’s neck. Yu Qingxue trembled slightly, lifted her head, and kissed her back.
Ning Xi whispered softly, “Don’t be afraid. I’m here.”
Yu Qingxue’s nose was red from crying. Hearing those words seemed to make her even more emotional. She threw her arms around Ning Xi and began to sob.
Ning Xi held her tightly, her hand gently stroking her back in comfort.
No one knew how much time passed before Yu Qingxue finally calmed down.
Her light eyes were still red, making her look both pitiful and adorable. “Thank you. I feel much better now.”
She reached up to wipe her tears, but Ning Xi stopped her.
Instead, Ning Xi pulled out a tissue and carefully wiped her face. She kissed her slightly swollen eyelids and smiled. “Weren’t you the one who said you’re a technical actor who snaps out of character quickly? You were crying so hard just now, you scared me.”
Yu Qingxue blushed and wrapped her arms around Ning Xi, nuzzling her neck. “You acted too well. I accidentally believed it all.”
Then she suddenly looked up, as if something had just occurred to her. She asked cautiously, “You didn’t confess to me just because you were too deep into the role, right? Was it you who liked me, or was it Feng Yunyan who liked Dong Lingxue?”
Ning Xi paused. “You’re only asking me that now? Don’t you think it’s a bit late?”
Yu Qingxue’s heart sank. She looked at Ning Xi like she had just been betrayed, her eyes welling up again.
Ning Xi hadn’t expected her to be this fragile today. Her heart ached for her. “Don’t cry. Feng Yunyan is gone. The one in front of you now is Ning Xi.”
She kissed away Yu Qingxue’s tears and said seriously, “I can say this with absolute certainty. Ning Xi likes Yu Qingxue.”
Yu Qingxue looked at her doubtfully. “Really? But didn’t you say you take a long time to step out of character?”
Ning Xi answered, “Because Feng Yunyan is dead. I don’t have a character to empathize with anymore. It’s easier to move on.”
She opened a bottle of water and brought it to Yu Qingxue’s lips. “Even if you were made of water, your body still can’t handle all that crying.”
Yu Qingxue drank half the bottle, then licked her lips. A sharp sting from her lower lip made her hiss softly.
Ning Xi set the bottle down and gently tilted her chin again to examine the small wounds on her lips. Her brows furrowed. “From now on, only I’m allowed to bite your lips.”
Yu Qingxue needed a second to react. Her face turned bright red. “You didn’t have to say it so bluntly.”
Ning Xi’s dark eyes focused on her. “If I’m not blunt, you won’t listen.”
She shifted topics casually. “Oh, I ran into Director Jiang earlier. He said the wrap party is tomorrow night. He wants to have a few drinks with me.”
Ning Xi lowered her voice. “If I get drunk, you better take care of me.”
The memory of the last time Ning Xi got drunk flashed through Yu Qingxue’s mind. Her heart skipped a beat, and her body began to warm up. “I’ll definitely take care of you.”
After over ten days of intense filming, everyone was thoroughly exhausted. Thankfully, the production gave the cast and crew a full day off before the wrap party. After sleeping soundly through the day, they arrived at the restaurant that evening refreshed and full of energy.
Director Jiang Yuanxin had booked the same restaurant where Lin Zhuoyan’s crew had celebrated their wrap. As the banquet began, Jiang Yuanxin raised his glass and gave a long speech. At the end, he said, “All the hard work over these past weeks hasn’t gone to waste. Here’s to everyone!”
His words fired up the room. Everyone responded with enthusiasm and downed a full shot of liquor.
Ning Xi took the glass from Yu Qingxue’s hand and finished two drinks in a row.
Under the bright crystal chandelier, a warm flush spread across Ning Xi’s pale skin. She looked at Yu Qingxue and said, “Keep an eye on me. I can’t get drunk tonight. I’ll drink all your alcohol too.”
Jiang Yuanxin called everyone to eat and drink freely, then sat down beside Ning Xi with a bottle of red wine in one hand and high-proof baijiu in the other. “Tonight, we drink until we drop.”
Yu Qingxue stared at him. “Lan Xia said she’s coming to pick you up. Don’t forget you’re supposed to be preparing for pregnancy.”
Jiang Yuanxin waved it off. “That can start tomorrow.”
Before Yu Qingxue could say more, Jiang Yuanxin opened the bottles and poured drinks for both of them. “Come on, cheers.”
He and Ning Xi drank back and forth, switching between red wine and baijiu without hesitation.
Yu Qingxue’s phone buzzed. After checking the message, she patted Ning Xi’s shoulder. “I’m heading out to pick someone up. I’ll be back soon.”
Ning Xi wanted to go with her, but Jiang Yuanxin stopped her. “She won’t get lost inside a restaurant. Stay and drink.”
Ning Xi hesitated, but Yu Qingxue had already walked out.
Jiang Yuanxin turned to Ning Xi and smiled. “If it weren’t for you, this film wouldn’t have gone so smoothly. You’re a brilliant actress, beautiful, and on top of that, you have Yu Qingxue as your girlfriend. You’re the ultimate winner in life. Come on, a toast to the champion.”
When people want to drink, they’ll find any reason to make a toast.
Ning Xi could hold her alcohol. After several rounds, her cheeks were only slightly pink, while Jiang Yuanxin’s neck had turned completely red.
Soon, Yu Qingxue returned, bringing with her a tall, elegant woman in a silver-blue suit. Her features were refined, and she had a calm gaze. Her height matched Yu Qingxue’s, and the moment she stepped into the private room, she immediately spotted Jiang Yuanxin, who was mid-sip.
Yu Qingxue took the chance to complain. “Lan Xia, you really need to keep Jiang Yuanxin in check. It’s fine if he drinks, but he insists on dragging my girlfriend into it too.”
Lan Xia’s calm eyes sharpened with a hint of cold light. “I’ll take him home now.”
Yu Qingxue and Lan Xia walked over. She stood behind Jiang Yuanxin and patted his shoulder. “Yuanxin, that’s enough. Lan Xia’s here to get you.”
Jiang Yuanxin smiled drunkenly. “You’re always trying to scare me. She said she’d arrive after midnight. There’s no way she’s this early.”
Ning Xi turned and gave Lan Xia a polite nod. “Nice to meet you. I’m Ning Xi.”
Lan Xia replied, “Xin Xin has a habit of drinking competitively. I’m sorry she dragged you into it.”
Yu Qingxue took Ning Xi’s hand to stop her from sitting back down and gestured toward the empty seat. “Lan Xia, take a seat.”
Lan Xia sat next to Jiang Yuanxin. He frowned in confusion. “Ning Xi, did you change clothes?”
Lan Xia picked up his hand and leaned in to drink the rest of the liquor from his cup. She looked him in the eyes. “What’s the fun in drinking with others? I’m here now.”
The moment Jiang Yuanxin heard Lan Xia’s voice, he sobered up halfway. “Lan… Lan Xia? Why are you here so early?”
“If I hadn’t come early, I wouldn’t know just how much you’ve been drinking,” Lan Xia said calmly. “Are you still drinking?”
“No. No more.” Jiang Yuanxin shook his head quickly.
Lan Xia let go of his hand. He immediately tossed his glass aside. “I usually don’t drink at all. It’s just the wrap party, I got carried away. Really.”
Ning Xi and Yu Qingxue stood in the corner, watching him stammer through his explanation.
Ning Xi whispered in surprise, “So Director Jiang has someone he’s scared of.”
Yu Qingxue nodded. “Back in high school, Lan Xia was the most famous Beta in their grade. Smart, capable, and impossible to ignore. Jiang Yuanxin fell for her at first sight. It took him seven years, from their first year of high school to their final year of college, to finally win her over.”
Ning Xi noticed the admiration in Yu Qingxue’s tone. Her expression grew thoughtful.
Yu Qingxue turned to her and asked gently, “What are you thinking about?”
Ning Xi’s dark eyes sparkled. “Nothing important.”
Yu Qingxue wanted to marry her. She also wanted to be pursued.
How could she give her both?
