Everyone Loves the Alpha, But He’s Not Interested [Transmigration] - Chapter 83
After Entertainment Never Stops released its final post, Yu Qingxue and Ning Xi focused entirely on filming. Neither of them paid any more attention to Lin Zhuoyan.
The production team had originally planned to finish filming around December twentieth. But since the main cast rarely needed retakes, they saved a great deal of time.
Because the crew had a ten-day holiday scheduled in December, finishing by the end of November would cut costs significantly.
With ten days shaved off the original schedule, filming became extremely intense. Lead actors, supporting cast, and extras were sleeping only four to five hours a night, working nonstop. Costume, makeup, and prop staff had no time to rest either.
Fortunately, the crew had been working together for a long time. Even with the tighter schedule, the quality of the scenes remained high.
“Cut. That’s good.” After finishing a scene, Jiang Yuanxin, with dark circles under his eyes, used a megaphone to call out, “Lunch break for one hour. We’ll start again at one thirty.”
The crew began clearing out quickly. As Jiang Yuanxin yawned and headed toward the break room, he overheard two staff members talking and caught the name “Lin Zhuoyan.”
He stopped immediately. “What are you talking about? What happened to Lin Zhuoyan?”
One of the crew members said, “I heard he was stabbed by a fan with a fruit knife a few days ago. The video just came out on Weibo. His five boyfriends were there when it happened. Not one of those Alphas moved to stop it. Can you even call them Alphas?”
The other added, “They were just substitutes. Lin Zhuoyan never loved any of them. The fan who stabbed him was also an Alpha. Why should they risk themselves for someone like him?”
“But there were five of them. Are you saying they just stood there and let it happen?”
The two were about to argue when Jiang Yuanxin quickly walked away.
As soon as he got back to the break room, he messaged Yu Qingxue.
Jiang Yuanxin: Check Weibo trending. Lin Zhuoyan got hurt.
Yu Qingxue leaned against Ning Xi, took a bite of the chicken he fed her, and lazily replied.
Yu Qingxue: He got hurt today?
Jiang Yuanxin: No, it happened the day that news came out about him using those five Alphas as stand-ins. I just watched the video. You really need to see it.
Jiang Yuanxin: Honestly, I kind of feel bad for him now.
Yu Qingxue: People who end up pitiful usually did something to deserve it. Save your sympathy, my friend.
She swallowed the chicken and pushed away the cucumber Ning Xi offered her. “I’m full.”
Ning Xi looked at her with mild exasperation. “You barely ate anything.”
Yu Qingxue picked up her phone. “You’ve been feeding me every day. I weighed myself yesterday. I’ve gained two pounds. If I keep eating, I won’t fit the role anymore.”
“When we finish filming, I’ll feed you all you want.” She leaned over and kissed him.
Ning Xi gave her a helpless smile that said he didn’t know what to do with her.
Yu Qingxue searched the trending list and found the tag #LinZhuoyanInjured. She tapped into it. The first post was the video Jiang Yuanxin mentioned.
She moved closer to Ning Xi and placed the phone between them. “Look at this.”
Ning Xi put his arm around her waist and watched. After a few seconds, he frowned. “That’s Lin Zhuoyan?”
“Yes. He was stabbed by a fan. This is video footage from the scene.”
From the camera angle, it appeared to be security footage from a hallway outside Lin Zhuoyan’s apartment.
The video began with five men who shared similar features and energy walking up to a door. One of them rang the doorbell. After a few moments, the door opened, and Lin Zhuoyan appeared looking thin and worn out.
He didn’t invite them in. Instead, he stepped out and stood facing the five men. Then he began to cry.
His side profile faced the camera. The sight of him silently crying was heartbreaking.
The five Alphas stood still. None of them said a word. Their faces were cold and unreadable.
Suddenly, another man appeared, his face full of anger. He shouted something at Lin Zhuoyan and then pulled out a fruit knife and stabbed him.
The five boyfriends did not react. Whether they were shocked or unwilling to intervene, not one of them moved.
Only when a security guard rushed in and tackled the attacker did one of the five finally pull out a phone to make a call.
The video ended there.
Yu Qingxue had a complicated expression on her face.
Ning Xi took the phone and scanned a few comments. “The attacker has already been caught. He was the leader of Lin Zhuoyan’s fan group. His name is Zhang Yi. Lin Zhuoyan’s facial injury is serious, but he’s not in any danger.”
Yu Qingxue wrapped her arms around Ning Xi. “Let this be the end of it. I don’t think we’ll hear much about him after this.”
Time slipped by quickly. It was already November thirtieth. Today they were filming the final scene of Ask the Devil.
In this scene, Hu Xiaohan traps Feng Yunyan and leads thousands from the demonic sect to attack the Wulin Alliance. Dong Lingxue, the saintess of the alliance, leads her people in defense. But her heart has already begun to lean toward Feng Yunyan. Her control over the Jade Heart Scripture has weakened, and she is soon pushed into a desperate position.
Former saintess He Mengyan, having learned from Shan Lian that Dong Lingxue has fallen in love with the leader of the demonic sect, sees this as a betrayal of the alliance. She rushes to the battlefield, determined to carry out justice by killing Dong Lingxue herself.
Hu Xiaohan, who has secretly loved Dong Lingxue, sees her surrounded and about to fall. He immediately rushes in to save her but is stabbed in the chest by He Mengyan and dies on the spot.
Shan Lian, who had followed them in secret, witnesses everything.
He Mengyan tries to strike again. But at that exact moment, Feng Yunyan breaks free from his restraints and arrives just in time.
“Scene eighty-eight, take eleven. Camera rolling.”
“Action.”
By now, it was already evening. Under the glow of the red sunset, Feng Yunyan used lightfoot technique to land in front of Dong Lingxue, blocking He Mengyan’s sword.
“Followers of the demonic sect. Reinforcements from the Wulin Alliance are on the way. Return to Tianyun Mountain immediately,” Feng Yunyan said, projecting her voice with internal energy.
“We obey the leader’s command.” The demonic sect members began to retreat while still fending off the alliance forces. Once they reached a safe point, they turned and used lightfoot technique to leave swiftly.
He Mengyan raised her sword and pointed it directly at Feng Yunyan. She looked at Dong Lingxue and questioned her sharply. “You actually fell in love with this filthy child?”
“Mother, Yunyan… Yunyan is your biological daughter…”
“Be quiet.” He Mengyan’s expression was cold. “Dong Lingxue, you have been completely bewitched. Feng Yunyan is a child of the demonic sect, something that never should have been born into this world.”
Shan Lian, holding Hu Xiaohan’s lifeless body, sat nearby in tears. When she heard what Dong Lingxue and He Mengyan said, she looked at Feng Yunyan in disbelief.
“Madam… Feng Yunyan… how could she be…”
“Be quiet. Not another word.”
The years He Mengyan had spent imprisoned by the demonic sect were the most painful of her life. Her voice was like ice as she stared at Dong Lingxue.
“If you’re determined to throw yourself away and stay with this disgrace, then I’ll help you. You can die together.”
She raised her sword again, preparing to strike.
Feng Yunyan stepped forward and pushed Dong Lingxue behind her. “Let me handle it. Do not come closer.”
Feng Yunyan and He Mengyan were evenly matched in martial arts, but He Mengyan was older and had suffered serious injuries during her years in captivity. She quickly began to fall behind in the fight.
Feng Yunyan struck out with her palm toward He Mengyan’s chest. He Mengyan was too slow to dodge and braced herself for the impact.
At the last second, Feng Yunyan’s expression changed. She quickly pulled back her strike. The sudden reversal caused her internal energy to rebound, shaking her organs violently. She coughed up a mouthful of blood.
“Yunyan!” Dong Lingxue called out in panic.
Feng Yunyan turned to her and gave a soft, comforting smile. “I am alright—”
Before she could finish, her voice cut off. Her body tensed in pain.
Behind her, He Mengyan had silently stepped forward and driven her sword into Feng Yunyan’s waist. As she pulled the blade out, blood poured from the wound, staining Feng Yunyan’s clothes deep red.
“Yunyan!” Dong Lingxue ran over, tears streaming down her face, and caught Feng Yunyan as she collapsed.
He Mengyan’s face remained emotionless. She raised her sword once more. “I will send you to join her.”
Just as the cold edge of the blade was about to pierce Dong Lingxue’s heart, Feng Yunyan gathered her remaining strength and pushed Dong Lingxue aside. She took the hit herself.
She let out a pained cry.
He Mengyan drew her sword again and attacked once more. Feng Yunyan, already bleeding and weakened, stepped in front of Dong Lingxue a second time. Blood burst from her mouth as she took the next strike.
Dong Lingxue broke into uncontrollable sobs as Feng Yunyan raised a trembling hand to touch her cheek gently.
“Don’t cry.”
He Mengyan’s voice was still cold. “Do you think this will keep you alive?”
Feng Yunyan continued coughing up blood. Her breathing was labored, her body trembling. She turned to He Mengyan and gave her a faint smile.
“I’m dying soon… It was me… I was the one who tempted Lingxue. She doesn’t deserve to die.”
He Mengyan stood over them, unmoved, her gaze like stone.
“Mother…” Feng Yunyan’s voice was faint and shaking.
He Mengyan’s eyes wavered slightly.
“One year… one sword… I am returning this life to you. Mother…” Feng Yunyan suddenly coughed up a mouthful of dark blood. The light in her eyes faded more and more.
“I’m sorry…”
