Everyone Loves the Alpha, But He’s Not Interested [Transmigration] - Chapter 76
After a week of continuous tailing and surveillance, the paparazzi finally captured solid photos and videos.
Fan Weixi carefully reviewed the material and sent the most explosive ones to Yu Qingxue.
Fan Weixi: President Yu, it turns out Lin Zhuoyan is not only involved with Lin Yuanchen. He also has ambiguous relationships with Lin Yuanchen’s older brother, second brother, younger uncle, and third maternal uncle. If we confirm that he was behind the smear campaign against you, this evidence alone would be enough to bring him down.
Yu Qingxue: Thank you. Good work.
At that moment, Ning Xi was in the study going over the latest version of the script, which had been revised again by Jiang Yuanxin and screenwriter Yang Huai.
Yu Qingxue entered the room carrying two cups of red date tea. Ning Xi looked up, took one of the cups from her, and sipped it. Her eyes squinted in satisfaction.
“You brought tea just when I was feeling thirsty. Is this what they call being perfectly in sync?”
Yu Qingxue’s heart fluttered, but she kept a calm expression and replied modestly, “Maybe it is.”
After over a week of Ning Xi’s constant flirting, Yu Qingxue still wasn’t used to it. She always ended up blushing.
Maybe it was because it was Ning Xi saying those things.
“I came for something serious. Take a look at this.” Yu Qingxue handed her phone to Ning Xi. “These are the photos and videos the paparazzi took.”
Ning Xi looked through the photos one by one. “I recognize Lin Zhuoyan, but which one is Lin Yuanchen?”
There were five photos in total. Each showed Lin Zhuoyan being intimately involved with a different man. The other men all had somewhat similar features.
“Did Lin Yuanchen get a different plastic surgery look every day?” Ning Xi guessed.
“Of course not,” Yu Qingxue said. “Those are five different people. They just happen to be relatives, so they look somewhat alike.”
She pointed at each photo as she explained. “This one is Lin Yuanchen. This is his older brother and his second brother. That one is his younger uncle. And this is his third uncle on his mother’s side.”
Ning Xi blinked slowly, her dark eyes wide with disbelief. “Are you saying Lin Zhuoyan is romantically involved with all five of them at the same time?”
That was bold. He had basically claimed the entire family.
Yu Qingxue replied calmly, “He dates a different one each weekday. Monday through Friday. He takes the weekend off. As far as we know, none of them are aware of the others’ involvement with him. He’s balancing five men right now and doing it quite smoothly. No signs of sinking yet.”
Ning Xi tapped on one of the videos. It showed Lin Zhuoyan in the arms of Lin Yuanchen’s third uncle, a man with a neatly trimmed mustache. He held Lin Zhuoyan gently and kissed him on the lips.
In the next video, Lin Zhuoyan and Lin Yuanchen’s younger uncle were eating in a private dining room. The curtains weren’t drawn, so the paparazzi captured a clear view of Lin Zhuoyan rubbing his leg suggestively against the older man’s leg under the table. The elegant man in his forties was clearly flustered, his eyes red at the corners. Lin Zhuoyan smiled slyly.
“The clarity is impressive,” Ning Xi commented. “You can even see their expressions.”
“There’s something even clearer,” Yu Qingxue said, leaning in to tap on a third video.
It showed Lin Zhuoyan and Lin Yuanchen’s older brother kissing at a bar. The camera was so close and the footage so detailed that it felt almost unreal.
“This was shot using a micro camera on the paparazzo’s chest. They were standing just about half a meter away.”
Ning Xi handed the phone back to Yu Qingxue. “I’ve seen enough. Any more and my eyes will start to hurt.”
“Hard to believe Lin Zhuoyan is filming during the day and seducing five men by night. But why is he targeting Lin Yuanchen’s family specifically?”
The novel only mentioned Lin Zhuoyan as being possessive. It never said he had a thing for collecting entire families.
“No one knows what he’s thinking,” Yu Qingxue said. “But the paparazzi are still following him. We might know more soon.”
Now that she had all this evidence, Yu Qingxue wasn’t in a hurry to act. She was waiting for Lin Zhuoyan to step out of line again so she could strike when it mattered most.
Another week passed, and November arrived.
The paparazzi finally sent good news. They had found out the real reason why Lin Zhuoyan was obsessed with dating Lin Yuanchen’s relatives.
It turned out that Lin Yuanchen had a younger uncle named Luo Lan. Luo Lan had once spent millions of yuan voting for Lin Zhuoyan during his debut contest, helping him secure the top spot. But on the night of Lin Zhuoyan’s debut performance, Luo Lan was in a fatal car crash.
“Lin Zhuoyan probably loved Luo Lan. That’s why he got involved with Lin Yuanchen’s family. Each of them reminds him of Luo Lan in some way,” Yu Qingxue said.
But Ning Xi knew the truth was not that simple.
What Lin Zhuoyan felt wasn’t love. It was possessiveness. He couldn’t accept that a fan who had belonged only to him had died. He tried to bring Luo Lan back by being with men who resembled him.
Lin Yuanchen had Luo Lan’s eyes. His older brother had his nose. The second brother had his mouth. The younger uncle had his temperament. The third uncle had the same face shape. If possible, Lin Zhuoyan probably wished he could combine all five into one perfect version of Luo Lan.
If she hadn’t read the novel, even Ning Xi wouldn’t have been able to make sense of Lin Zhuoyan’s actions.
By the seventh, filming for Ask the Demon had reached the halfway point. The crew was about to go on their second break.
After lying low for two weeks, Lin Zhuoyan suddenly returned to the set.
He must have thought that since no one came after him after the last incident, his involvement had gone unnoticed. Putting on his most innocent expression, he publicly invited Yu Qingxue to attend the wrap party for his own drama.
“Qingxue-jie, you’re the one who gave me this opportunity. I wouldn’t even be in this drama without your help. It means everything to me. I really, really hope you’ll come tonight,” Lin Zhuoyan said sweetly in front of the entire cast and crew. His soft skin and big blinking eyes made it hard for anyone around to say no.
If Yu Qingxue turned him down now, she would be seen as cold and unkind. Lin Zhuoyan had even arranged for someone to secretly record everything. If she rejected him and the clip went online, it would spark yet another storm of public opinion.
If she accepted, it would be even better for him.
The wrap party was his territory. He could do anything he wanted there.
His scenes were done, and he would be leaving the studio soon. Yu Qingxue and Ning Xi still had filming to do. He didn’t want to miss this last chance.
Before Yu Qingxue could answer, Ning Xi smiled and spoke for her.
“Of course President Yu will come. Don’t worry. She’ll definitely be there tonight.”
Jiang Yuanxin clapped Lin Zhuoyan on the shoulder. “Not just your Qingxue-jie. Ning Xi, me, Wang You, and Wei Nian are all coming. The main cast of our crew will be there to support you.”
Lin Zhuoyan hadn’t expected the others to come. He suddenly looked uncomfortable and forced a smile.
“Director Jiang, I’d really love to invite you all, but the venue has limited space. I had to beg Director Li just to get approval for two extra guests…”
“Oh, that’s all? I thought you didn’t want us there. No worries. I know Director Li well. I’ll call him right now and see if he can arrange more spots.”
Jiang Yuanxin took out his phone and began dialing without giving Lin Zhuoyan a chance to stop him.
A flicker of panic crossed Lin Zhuoyan’s large eyes. He seemed truly confused as to how things had turned out this way.
Wei Nian could no longer hold back her laughter. She quickly turned her back and covered her mouth as her shoulders shook.
Wang You wasn’t amused by Lin Zhuoyan’s awkwardness, but Wei Nian’s reaction made her laugh anyway.
Trying not to attract attention, she dragged Wei Nian to a big tree nearby.
“No one’s around here. Go ahead and laugh,” Wang You said.
Wei Nian turned and hugged her, resting her chin on Wang You’s shoulder.
“Yoyo-jie, what if I can’t stop laughing?” she whispered.
Wang You’s face turned red at the sound of Wei Nian’s low voice. “Then don’t laugh. And let go of me. If someone sees us like this, they’ll get the wrong idea.”
“No one will see us,” Wei Nian said softly. “And even if they do, they won’t misunderstand.”
She let go, only to trap Wang You between herself and the tree trunk. Her gaze lowered, serious and steady.
“Yoyo-jie, I don’t want to pretend to be a couple with you anymore…”
Wang You’s pupils contracted slightly.
“I want to be your real girlfriend,” Wei Nian whispered, rubbing her cheek gently against the side of Wang You’s neck. “Please say yes, Yoyo-jie.”
Over the past few weeks, Wang You had spent the most time with Wei Nian. She had always been Wei Nian’s type: small, cute, and soft-spoken. But after getting to know her better, Wei Nian realized it wasn’t just about appearance. Wang You’s personality was just as endearing.
Wei Nian could sense that Wang You didn’t dislike her, but she couldn’t figure out how Wang You really felt.
She had been debating this in her heart for a week. Finally, she decided to confess.
Originally, she had planned to wait until their day off and surprise Wang You with flowers, a restaurant dinner, and a violin serenade.
But when she saw Wang You smile at her earlier, she couldn’t hold back. Her feelings poured out before she had a chance to prepare.
Wang You lowered her eyes and didn’t respond right away.
Wei Nian grew increasingly nervous. “Yoyo-jie, please don’t reject me. If there’s anything you don’t like about me, I can change.”
Wang You’s lashes trembled slightly. Finally, her eyes met Wei Nian’s as she said in a calm voice, “You don’t have to change.”
Wei Nian’s heart sank instantly. She had barely cried in her entire life, but now her eyes were filling with tears. “I understand. I was too forward…”
Wang You stepped forward and hugged her gently.
Wei Nian’s tears finally spilled over. “Yoyo-jie, you don’t have to comfort me.”
But Wang You didn’t let go. Instead, she stood on tiptoe and whispered into her ear, “I said you don’t have to change because I like you just the way you are.”
Wei Nian froze in surprise. The joy hit her so hard it left her stunned. She blinked, and a tear rolled down into Wang You’s collar.
The warmth of it made Wang You’s chest feel hot.
She turned her head slightly and saw Wei Nian’s dazed expression. Trying to hide her shyness, she leaned in and gave her a soft kiss on the lips.
“Wei Nian, I like you too.”
By the time Wei Nian and Wang You returned, Lin Zhuoyan had already left.
Despite walking back with at least a meter of space between them, Yu Qingxue only needed one glance to know something was off with her best friend.
Wang You’s ears were red, her cheeks flushed, and she walked faster than usual, nothing like her normally calm self.
Since Ning Xi and Jiang Yuanxin were away discussing strategy, Yu Qingxue took the opportunity and said casually, “Wang You, come here for a moment. I need to talk to you.”
Wang You instinctively glanced at Wei Nian. Their eyes locked, and it was as if invisible hooks held them together. They nearly couldn’t look away.
“Oh… okay, I’m coming,” Wang You replied.
Yu Qingxue counted silently in her head. It had taken Wang You at least ten seconds to answer.
And even then, her feet remained planted.
Yu Qingxue walked over and stepped between them, cutting off their eye contact. The moment Wang You saw her, she averted her eyes, looking guilty.
“Let’s go to my dressing room,” Yu Qingxue said as she casually wrapped an arm around Wang You’s shoulder and guided her away, not allowing her to look back.
Once inside, Yu Qingxue closed the door behind them, sat down, and pointed at the seat across from her.
“Sit.”
Wang You obediently sat down.
“You were gone with Wei Nian for at least ten minutes. What were you two doing?” Yu Qingxue’s eyes locked onto hers with the intensity of a parent catching their Omega daughter sneaking off with an Alpha.
Wang You’s face turned red. Her gaze wandered for a second before she slowly replied, “Wei Nian almost laughed in front of Lin Zhuoyan earlier. I took her to the tree so she could calm down.”
“And then? What else did you two do?” Yu Qingxue pressed, sounding exactly like a concerned guardian.
Wang You’s fingers twisted together nervously on the table. Her cheeks grew hotter by the second.
“Then… Wei Nian hugged me and confessed.”
“She said she liked me and wanted to be my real girlfriend.” Wang You’s lips curled up softly. “She said if there was anything I didn’t like about her, she would change for me.”
“I told her she didn’t need to change, but she misunderstood and started crying. I quickly explained that I like her the way she is.”
“And then I kissed her and told her I like her too.”
“We’re together now.”
Yu Qingxue was speechless.
She had liked Ning Xi first.
So how did Wang You end up getting a girlfriend before her?
