Everyone Loves the Alpha, But He’s Not Interested [Transmigration] - Chapter 70
The scent she caught in the air, crisp and piercing like the cold on a snowy mountaintop, was the fragrance of Yu Qingxue’s pheromones.
The pheromones of an Omega in heat broke through the barrier of Ning Xi’s pheromone suppressant. The suppressant had failed, and she had completely entered her susceptibility phase.
Ning Xi had read extensively about the physical changes that happen during this period, but everything she had learned online was now proven wrong.
Her head did not hurt. She was simply feeling dizzy because Yu Qingxue’s scent was too strong.
There was no overwhelming aggression or destructive urge. As she looked at Yu Qingxue standing before her, Ning Xi felt the blood in her veins rush faster and faster. Her body was heating up. The emptiness in her chest could only be eased when she was close to Yu Qingxue.
There was a burning pain at the gland on the back of Yu Qingxue’s neck. That heat seemed to spread into the air, making it feel suffocating and too hot to breathe.
Soon, a new scent appeared in the air alongside Yu Qingxue’s. It smelled like finely aged wine, mixed with a faint fruitwood aroma. The sweetness and bitterness lingered in the air, and the strong scent of alcohol soaked into Yu Qingxue’s body through every pore.
Yu Qingxue gradually lost control of her body. Her legs gave out, and she could no longer support herself.
Seeing her about to fall, Ning Xi immediately reached out and caught her.
Tears welled up in Yu Qingxue’s eyes. Her hands rested helplessly on Ning Xi’s shoulders. The rich aroma of alcohol clung to her like a second skin.
Their pheromones wrapped around each other. Sweat dripped from Ning Xi’s forehead as her eyes shifted from Yu Qingxue’s red lips to her pale neck.
Yu Qingxue trembled in fear.
Ning Xi focused on her target, a slightly flushed gland. Her instincts pulled her closer to that rosy spot where the icy fragrance was the most intense.
The first time, Ning Xi had managed to push away those instincts with sheer self-control. But now, under the influence of pheromones, she had lost that control.
Her dark eyes looked almost hollow. She revealed her fangs like a hunter about to take down its prey, ready to claim it at any moment.
Yu Qingxue shook with fear, clutching her clothes so tightly that her fingertips turned white.
The fire surged all around her. Yu Qingxue wanted to escape, but she could not. All she could do was let herself be consumed by it.
A flood of pheromones was injected into her gland. No one knew how long it lasted before Ning Xi’s fangs withdrew. The wound healed on its own, sealing the intoxicating pheromones inside.
Ning Xi lowered her head and sniffed the side of Yu Qingxue’s neck. She was pleased to find that her scent now clung to her.
Her eyelashes lifted slightly, and all that remained in her eyes was a burning desire.
When Ning Xi regained consciousness, she was shocked by the scene in front of her.
She was lying on the sofa, completely naked. The once-tidy couch was now a mess. The scent lingering in the air was very familiar.
She sat up and tried to recall what had happened. All she remembered was Yu Qingxue entering heat and her own pheromone suppressant failing, pushing her into her susceptibility period.
There was no need to imagine what would happen when an Omega in heat and an Alpha in susceptibility were alone in an enclosed space.
Ning Xi’s face turned pale. She had marked Yu Qingxue. And she had slept with her.
Looking around, Ning Xi did not see Yu Qingxue anywhere. Her heart began to fill with worry.
If Yu Qingxue realized she had been marked, there was no way she could accept it. What if she did something reckless?
That thought made Ning Xi panic. She wrapped herself in the blanket, staggered off the chaotic sofa with her weak body, and called out, “Qingxue? Where are you?”
Behind the bar counter, she spotted the room card. That meant Yu Qingxue had not left the suite.
But she was nowhere to be seen. Then Ning Xi noticed a glass door to the left of the bar. She rushed over and used all her strength to open it.
A wave of steam rushed out. Hot water poured down from the showerhead onto a pale figure. Wet hair clung to her back. Through the mist, Ning Xi saw Yu Qingxue’s silhouette and finally felt some relief.
“How long do you plan to keep staring?” Yu Qingxue’s soft voice drifted over.
Ning Xi was stunned. She snapped out of it and blushed. “Sorry. I’ll go now.”
“Come back,” Yu Qingxue said quietly.
Ning Xi stopped walking.
“I’m finished. You should wash up too.” Yu Qingxue stepped out from under the water and walked up to her. She took the blanket from Ning Xi’s arms, wrapped it around herself, and left the bathroom.
The door clicked shut behind her, bringing Ning Xi back to her senses.
She stepped into the shower. The hot water poured over her and eased her fatigue. Her mind began to replay what had just happened. When Yu Qingxue approached her earlier, her snowy skin had been dotted with red marks like plum blossoms in winter.
Ning Xi’s face warmed slightly. But then, all the color drained from her cheeks.
She had given in to her pheromones and hurt her closest friend.
Yu Qingxue must hate her now.
But just now, when Yu Qingxue saw her, her attitude seemed completely normal. She did not seem angry at all.
Confused and anxious, Ning Xi finished her shower. Only then did she realize there was no towel. The blanket she had used was gone too.
Was she supposed to walk out just like this?
As she hesitated under the showerhead, the bathroom door suddenly opened from the outside.
Yu Qingxue, fully dressed, walked over, placed the blanket in her hands, and then turned to leave again.
Ning Xi quickly wrapped it around herself and followed Yu Qingxue out of the bathroom.
She wanted to say something, but had no idea where to start.
Yu Qingxue sat down on the one sofa that had not been wrecked. She frowned slightly and reached around to touch her lower back.
Ning Xi quickly asked, “Are you alright?”
Yu Qingxue glanced at her and said calmly, “It’s nothing, just a bit of soreness in my waist.”
Ning Xi sat across from her, looking like a guilty person awaiting judgment, her face full of remorse. “Qingxue, I…”
“I’m sorry,” Yu Qingxue suddenly interrupted, cutting off her apology.
“What?” Ning Xi was stunned. She was the one who had hurt Yu Qingxue, so why was Yu Qingxue apologizing?
“Ning Xi, I’m sorry,” Yu Qingxue repeated seriously. “What happened these past few days wasn’t your fault. You don’t have to feel guilty. I was the one who asked you to come to the bar. It was also my pheromone suppressant that failed and caused you to enter your susceptibility phase. If I hadn’t insisted on dragging you to the bar with me, none of this would have happened.”
“I know you’re not looking for a relationship. I just got out of one myself and have no interest in starting another. Everything that happened over these eight days… just treat it like a dream. Forget about it.”
After hearing that, Ning Xi frowned and said, “But I marked you. Once an Omega is marked by an Alpha, they can’t be marked by anyone else. This isn’t something that can just be treated like a dream and forgotten.”
Yu Qingxue shrugged casually. “I like Omegas anyway. Being marked by you can keep away all those annoying Alphas constantly trying to hit on me. I can accept it.”
Ning Xi looked at her and asked, “We didn’t take any precautions these eight days. What if you get pregnant?”
Yu Qingxue’s eyes lit up. “Even better. I wouldn’t have to force myself into a relationship with an Alpha and could still have a baby. It’s honestly something I’ve dreamed of.”
Ning Xi was speechless.
“I already asked He Ling to prepare some food. Go get changed quickly. After an entire eight-day heat cycle, I feel completely drained. You probably do too. We both need to recover properly.”
Ning Xi could not quite follow Yu Qingxue’s train of thought, but it was clear she did not want to go into the details right now. She would have to find a better time to talk later.
Yu Qingxue pointed at the clothes on top of the cabinet. “I found these in the wardrobe. They’re all new and never worn before. They’re your size.”
Ning Xi picked up the clothes and was about to change. Just as she was about to let go of the blanket wrapped around her, she noticed Yu Qingxue looking at her. Her heart skipped a beat and she reminded her, “I’m going to get changed.”
Yu Qingxue nodded. “Go ahead.” Her eyes remained fixed on Ning Xi, clearly not planning to look away.
Ning Xi hesitated. Yu Qingxue blinked as if realizing something and said, “Are you shy? What’s the big deal? After everything we’ve done over the past eight days, changing in front of each other is nothing.”
Strangely, Ning Xi found herself agreeing.
Not wanting to waste more time, she let the blanket drop and changed directly in front of Yu Qingxue.
But after eight days of exhaustion, her fingers had lost most of their strength. She struggled to fasten the clasp on her bra.
Seeing this, Yu Qingxue walked over and easily helped her with the clasp.
Ning Xi felt conflicted. “Thanks.”
“You’re welcome.” Yu Qingxue returned to her seat and continued watching her get dressed, her gaze filled with admiration, as if she were looking at a piece of art.
By the time Ning Xi finished changing, she had broken into a light sweat.
Yu Qingxue stood up and said, “Come on, let’s go eat.”
Ning Xi grabbed her phone from the pile of dirty clothes and followed Yu Qingxue out of the suite. They turned left and right through the hallway and arrived at a small dining room with only three crystal tables.
One of the tables was full of delicious-looking dishes. Yu Qingxue lit up with joy and quickened her pace, but her legs gave out from under her. She almost fell, but Ning Xi caught her just in time.
“Thanks,” Yu Qingxue said, pressing a hand to her chest, a bit shaken. “My waist really hurts.”
“I…” Ning Xi wanted to apologize, knowing full well the soreness was because of her, but she had no idea how to say it.
Sorry for making your waist hurt.
Sorry I was too rough.
Sorry, I won’t do it again.
No matter how she worded it, it sounded strange.
So, Ning Xi said nothing and quietly helped Yu Qingxue into a chair. Then she sat down next to her.
Yu Qingxue nudged her and said, “Your favorite dishes are over there. These ones are mine.”
Ning Xi remained seated. “I’ll feed you first. I’ll eat after you finish.”
Yu Qingxue replied, “No need. You don’t owe me anything. I can feed myself.” She sounded like she had already completely forgotten about the past eight days.
