Everyone Loves the Alpha, But He’s Not Interested [Transmigration] - Chapter 69
Yu Qingxue’s words left Ning Xi with no way to refuse.
Ning Xi asked, “Are you sure the private room can block pheromones?”
Yu Qingxue noticed her hesitation and quickly replied, “I’m sure. My friend tested it. No matter how strong the pheromones are outside, people inside the room can’t sense anything.”
“So you’re agreeing to come with me?” Yu Qingxue’s eyes sparkled with hope as she looked at Ning Xi.
Ning Xi hesitated for a moment, but she didn’t want to disappoint her. She nodded and said, “Alright, I’ll go with you.”
“You’re the best,” Yu Qingxue said, hugging her excitedly.
Ning Xi suddenly felt her blood heat up, but it quickly calmed down. She gently pushed Yu Qingxue away and said, “We should probably keep a bit of distance for now. Your heat and my susceptibility period are both coming soon.”
The pheromone suppressant really wasn’t perfect. Even though Yu Qingxue hadn’t entered heat yet, just her closeness made Ning Xi feel a rush of emotion.
Ning Xi had never felt this way before when Yu Qingxue got close.
Yu Qingxue was slightly unhappy about being pushed away, but after hearing Ning Xi’s explanation, she smiled and said, “Alright. I’ll just hug you after the break, then.”
By the time they got back to the hotel, it was already past three in the afternoon. After taking showers and getting some rest, Yu Qingxue woke up feeling slightly sore. She touched the gland on the back of her neck. It felt normal, so she didn’t think much of it.
Once they were well rested, they got up around six, freshened up, changed clothes, and headed out by taxi to the bar Yu Qingxue had mentioned.
Her excitement covered up any lingering discomfort in her body. Sitting in the back seat, she spoke enthusiastically to Ning Xi.
“My friend’s bar is members only. Normally, people need an introduction and a certain level of fame to qualify. But if I recommend someone, it doesn’t matter how famous they are right now. I believe anyone I recommend will be a star in the future.”
Yu Qingxue wasn’t exactly speaking quietly. The driver glanced at the two women in the rearview mirror, starting to wonder if he had picked up a celebrity.
Ning Xi noticed the look and gently squeezed Yu Qingxue’s fingers. “I know. You’re the best investor. Everyone respects your judgment.”
Yu Qingxue gave her a proud look, but her sunglasses hid it completely, so Ning Xi didn’t notice.
“If you treat me well, I’ll let you star in all the variety shows, movies, and dramas I invest in.”
“I’ll do my best, investor queen,” Ning Xi replied.
So she wasn’t a celebrity, just an investor.
The driver turned his eyes back to the road. He had thought the two women, all bundled up like that, must have been some big stars.
After about thirty minutes, the taxi pulled up to a stylish, upscale bar. It looked more like a luxury private club than a typical bar.
Yu Qingxue walked up to the door, took off her sunglasses, and looked toward a sensor beside the entrance. It made a soft beep, and the door slowly opened.
She led Ning Xi through the first door and walked straight ahead for about ten steps before reaching a second door.
By now, Yu Qingxue had also removed her hat and mask, revealing her face. The receptionist saw her and immediately stood up to greet her. “Welcome, Miss Yu.”
Yu Qingxue gave a small nod. “Where’s He Ling?”
“Our boss is inside playing pool with Movie King Fu,” the receptionist replied.
“I want to get a membership for my friend. Call him for me so I can explain,” Yu Qingxue said.
Before she could dial, Ning Xi gently stopped her. “No need. I don’t like coming to places like this alone. If I ever want to come again, I’ll just ask you to bring me.”
The receptionist, who had been fully focused on Yu Qingxue, heard Ning Xi’s voice and instinctively looked at her. Her breath caught.
Yu Qingxue glanced at her. “Is she pretty?”
The receptionist nodded dazedly. “Yes, very pretty.”
“I think so too,” Yu Qingxue replied, then reached out and wrapped Ning Xi’s arm around her own waist. “She’s mine, so don’t stare too much.”
Her tone was gentle, but her eyes held a cold warning. The receptionist couldn’t help but shiver, a chill running down her spine.
“Yes, Miss Yu,” she quickly replied.
“Open a private room for us,” Yu Qingxue added.
The receptionist rushed to do as she was told, then handed Yu Qingxue the room card.
Yu Qingxue took it and turned around to leave, still holding onto Ning Xi’s arm. Ning Xi had no choice but to walk with her, since her arm was still tightly wrapped around Yu Qingxue’s waist.
Once the second door closed behind them and she confirmed the receptionist was no longer watching, Yu Qingxue finally let go. She looked calm as she said, “I just helped you get rid of a potential admirer. How do you plan to thank me?”
Ning Xi smiled. “For the next two months of filming, I’ll continue being your perfect girlfriend on set.”
Yu Qingxue clicked her tongue lightly. “Clever. I thought you’d offer me something extra as a thank you.” She glanced at Ning Xi with a playful sparkle in her eyes.
Footsteps echoed nearby. Yu Qingxue reached up and placed her sunglasses on Ning Xi’s face. A server wearing a white shirt and black trousers walked up to them and gave a small bow.
“Miss Yu, please follow me.”
The hallway was dimly lit. With the sunglasses on, Ning Xi could barely make out any light. It was almost like being blind. She wondered whether she should listen carefully and follow the sounds, or just take the glasses off.
Before she could decide, a warm, soft touch met her palm. Yu Qingxue had gently placed Ning Xi’s hand in hers.
“Hold onto me. There aren’t any stairs here, so don’t worry,” she said.
Ning Xi squeezed her hand and followed closely beside her.
After walking for a while, the server finally said, “Miss Yu, we’ve arrived.”
Yu Qingxue stopped, and Ning Xi stopped with her.
Yu Qingxue nodded at the server. “Thank you. You can go now.”
After the server left, Yu Qingxue used the room card to unlock the private room. Ning Xi followed her inside and took off her sunglasses. She smiled and said, “I kept my eyes closed just now. It was completely dark. I felt like I was experiencing what it’s like to be blind.”
Yu Qingxue asked, “Weren’t you afraid I’d lead you somewhere dangerous?”
“Would you?” Ning Xi replied with a question of her own.
“I wouldn’t,” Yu Qingxue answered without hesitation.
“I didn’t think so either,” Ning Xi said, her lips curving into a soft smile. Her dark eyes sparkled as if filled with starlight.
Yu Qingxue suddenly felt her breath catch. She quickly turned her head and was surprised to feel a faint warmth at the gland on the back of her neck.
She touched it lightly, but the sensation disappeared almost immediately.
It must have been her imagination.
The pheromone suppressant she had taken was a special high-grade version with much stronger effects than the standard one. The standard kind might still react to the presence of heat or susceptibility pheromones, but this version completely blocked her ability to sense them. Even if Ning Xi went into her susceptibility period right here, she would not be affected at all.
Because she trusted the suppressant so much, Yu Qingxue didn’t give that strange sensation another thought. She walked behind the bar, tied her hair up with a scrunchie, and smiled at Ning Xi who was sitting at the counter.
“What would the guest like to drink? Just so you know, I only make one type of cocktail.”
Ning Xi hadn’t expected this side of Yu Qingxue. She looked at her with curiosity and said, “Then I’ll have whatever you know how to make.”
“Alright. Please wait a moment.”
Yu Qingxue gave a slight bow and turned to select a few bottles from the shelf. She began mixing a drink while putting on a bit of a performance for Ning Xi.
She enjoyed being the center of Ning Xi’s attention. In that moment, it felt like she was the only one in Ning Xi’s eyes and heart.
She poured the shaken mixture into a small cocktail glass, then picked up a lighter and snapped her fingers smoothly. A flicker of orange flame ran across the surface of the drink, followed by a layer of blue fire burning at the top.
Yu Qingxue pushed the drink toward Ning Xi. “Try it.”
Ning Xi picked up the glass and looked curiously at the glowing orange liquid. “Do I just drink it like this? Won’t the flames burn me?”
Yu Qingxue leaned forward slightly, resting her chin on her hand, her light-colored eyes shining under the dim lights. She smiled and said, “Bring it here.”
Ning Xi held the glass up to her.
Yu Qingxue lowered her head and gently blew across the surface of the drink, extinguishing the flame. She looked up and blinked. “Now you can drink it.”
Ning Xi had been distracted for a moment by her softly puckered lips. When she looked back at the glass, the flames were gone and the drink had turned from orange to a soft violet.
“You really know how to make cocktails,” Ning Xi said, impressed.
Yu Qingxue replied modestly, “Not much. I only know this one, and I made it up myself.”
“You created it yourself? Qingxue, how many more surprises do you have for me?”
After speaking, Ning Xi took a sip. She closed her eyes as the sweet flavor exploded on her tongue, followed by a sharp, spicy kick. The hint of sourness only made the sweetness more distinct.
“How is it?” Yu Qingxue asked, both nervous and excited.
Ning Xi smiled. “It’s really good. I like it a lot.”
Relieved, Yu Qingxue took the half-finished drink from Ning Xi, lifted it to her lips, and downed the rest. The liquid moistened her lips, making them look even more vibrant and seductive.
“I like it too,” she said, licking away the last trace of alcohol with the tip of her tongue.
Under the soft, dim lighting, her face looked like that of an enchanting flower spirit, bewitching and unreal.
Ning Xi suddenly caught a faint, unusual scent from Yu Qingxue. It was cold and clear like snow on a mountain, yet carried a subtle sweetness beneath the chill.
Thump. Thump.
Ning Xi’s heart pounded twice in her chest. For a moment, her vision blurred, and everything around her seemed to drift out of reach.
A muffled groan snapped her back to reality. She suddenly realized she had somehow ended up behind the bar, pinning Yu Qingxue against the liquor shelf. Her head was lowered, and she was licking at the gland on Yu Qingxue’s neck.
Startled, Ning Xi quickly pulled away and stepped back, bumping hard into the bar behind her.
The sharp pain in her back brought her back to her senses. She gasped for breath, then looked up at Yu Qingxue.
Yu Qingxue was leaning against the shelf with her head tilted back. Her pale cheeks were flushed with a deep, unnatural pink. Her brows were furrowed, and her lips were caught between her teeth. She looked deeply uncomfortable.
“Qingxue, are you alright?” Ning Xi pushed aside her own physical discomfort and moved closer, doing her best to fight the growing urge inside her.
Yu Qingxue slowly opened her eyes. They were clouded and wet, and her long lashes trembled as she spoke in a soft voice. “Ning Xi, I don’t feel good.”
“I’ll call an ambulance right away.” Ning Xi reached into her pocket for her phone.
But just as she touched it, a sharp, icy scent overwhelmed her senses. Her mind went blank, and her fingers lost control. The phone slipped and fell to the floor.
Each breath she took felt like it was burning her lungs. Waves of heat surged through her. Sweat rolled down from her temples and stung her eyes. Blinking rapidly, she tried to wash the sweat away with her tears.
With her vision blurred, her other senses became even sharper.
That was when she confirmed it. The cold yet strangely sweet scent came from Yu Qingxue.
Yu Qingxue had entered heat.
