Everyone Loves the Alpha, But He’s Not Interested [Transmigration] - Chapter 54
At six thirty in the evening, after having dinner together, Yu Qingxue received a message from Wang You. She said that she and Wei Nian had already returned and were now waiting in their room.
Yu Qingxue held up her phone and said, “Something came up. I have to attend a dinner meeting. I’ll be back around nine.”
Ning Xi stood up with her. “Do you want me to walk you down?”
Yu Qingxue remained calm. “No need. Assistant Fan is already waiting downstairs.”
She put on sunglasses and a face mask, picked up her bag, and walked out. Ning Xi followed her to the elevator.
“Message me before you come back. I’ll be waiting,” Ning Xi said.
Yu Qingxue nodded.
The elevator gave a soft chime and the doors opened. Yu Qingxue stepped inside and turned around.
“Don’t drink too much. If it’s too much to handle, let Assistant Fan take care of it,” Ning Xi reminded her.
Yu Qingxue nodded again. “I know.”
The elevator doors slowly closed. Ning Xi watched the numbers on the panel go down until they stopped on the thirteenth floor.
After about thirty seconds, the elevator started moving again and finally reached the ground floor.
At that moment, Ning Xi received a message from Yu Qingxue, saying she had found Assistant Fan and there was no need to worry.
Wang You, who had come to meet Yu Qingxue by the elevator, watched the entire scene and couldn’t help admiring how smooth it was.
“How did you know Ning Xi wouldn’t go straight back to the room?”
Yu Qingxue’s pale eyes sparkled with pride. “Because she cares about me.”
It was exactly because Ning Xi cared so much that Yu Qingxue couldn’t let go. She was determined to make Ning Xi fall in love with her, no matter what it took.
Wang You gave a low chuckle. “I think I’m starting to understand your mindset. Go win her heart already.”
The two of them walked to Wang You’s room. She had a business suite with a bedroom and a small living area. Wei Nian was sitting on the sofa waiting. When she heard the door open, she stood up immediately.
“President Yu.”
Yu Qingxue gave a slight nod. “You did well last time.”
Wei Nian touched her short hair and smiled as she glanced at Wang You. “It’s all thanks to Youyou. She helped me get into character quickly.”
Wang You lowered her head, hiding her expression. Wei Nian couldn’t read her face and felt a little disappointed.
Yu Qingxue stepped into the bedroom and turned to the two people outside. “Come in. I’ll guide you through the scene.”
Wei Nian followed behind Wang You, looking around the room in awe. “President Yu, you really can do everything. Now you’re directing too?”
Yu Qingxue smiled modestly. “After watching enough directors, it’s not that hard.”
Wang You stood in silence. She was not convinced by the modesty.
Yu Qingxue spent over three hours thinking through every possible situation. She finally had the whole “cheating scene” planned and rehearsed perfectly.
“Tomorrow morning, Wei Nian will come over a little after five. Ning Xi and I will arrive around six thirty to catch the scene. I won’t let you know in advance, so be ready.”
Wei Nian nodded seriously and clenched her fist. “Don’t worry, President Yu. I’ll make sure everything goes smoothly.”
Yu Qingxue turned to Wang You. She answered slowly, “I’ll make sure too.”
Wei Nian glanced sideways at Wang You’s soft and pale face. She couldn’t help thinking how adorable she looked.
Yu Qingxue asked, “Wei Nian, are you leaving with me?”
Wang You quickly responded, “No. We need to run through it again. Everything has to be perfect.”
This kind of setup should only be done once. She had no intention of repeating it if it failed.
Yu Qingxue was moved by her seriousness. “You’re a good friend. Once I’m in a relationship, I’ll introduce you to someone you’ll like. Maybe a sweet little puppy-type guy.”
Wei Nian glanced at Wang You. A puppy? Did Youyou like small animals?
Yu Qingxue took the elevator to the ground floor and sent a message to Ning Xi.
Yu Qingxue: I’m back.
Ning Xi was watching a movie. When she saw the message, she replied immediately.
Ning Xi: I’ll come down to meet you.
She arrived in the lobby and looked around. She spotted Yu Qingxue standing next to a decorative money tree. Ning Xi walked over and softly called her name.
“Qingxue.”
Yu Qingxue lifted her gaze. Her light-colored eyes shimmered. “Let’s go back.”
They stepped into the elevator together. Suddenly, Ning Xi leaned in and gently sniffed near Yu Qingxue’s neck.
Yu Qingxue stiffened slightly. “What’s wrong?”
Ning Xi smiled calmly and shook her head. “Nothing. I thought I smelled something.”
But deep inside, she was puzzled. Yu Qingxue had said she went to a dinner event. Even if she didn’t drink, she should have picked up the scent of alcohol or smoke. But she had only smelled Yu Qingxue’s usual body wash and nothing else.
Had she not attended the dinner meeting at all?
Ning Xi kept the thought to herself. If Yu Qingxue wasn’t saying anything, then she must not want her to know. Ning Xi decided not to push the issue.
Back in the room, Yu Qingxue said, “Let’s head over around six thirty in the morning. Youyou usually wakes up around that time.”
Ning Xi agreed without hesitation.
The two of them sat on the sofa. Yu Qingxue leaned lazily against the soft cushions.
“I hope we can have a proper talk tomorrow,” she said.
Ning Xi poured her a glass of warm milk she had prepared earlier. “Drink this and rest early. Get a good night’s sleep.”
…
After drinking the warm milk from Ning Xi, Yu Qingxue returned to the bedroom. She lay on the bed and played a few mobile games. When she thought enough time had passed for a scene rehearsal, she sent a message to Wang You.
Yu Qingxue: Did Wei Nian leave?
Wang You: Just left.
[side-eye emoji] Did you come up with another brilliant plan?
Yu Qingxue: When I left to find you, I told Ning Xi I was going to a dinner meeting. On the way back in the elevator, she leaned in and sniffed me. But I had no smell of alcohol on me.
Wang You: You got caught that fast? Do we even need to go through with the confrontation?
Yu Qingxue: Not exactly. Ning Xi didn’t say anything. She pretended not to notice.
Yu Qingxue: Actually, I left out the alcohol scent on purpose.
Wang You: Why would you do that? Did you want Ning Xi to realize you were lying?
Yu Qingxue: My goal was never to make her fall for me through lies. I just needed to break past her emotional defenses. She’s guarded. If I gave her something suspicious to think about, she would become curious. She won’t confront me directly. Instead, she’ll wonder why I’m doing it.
Yu Qingxue: That curiosity will be the beginning of love.
Yu Qingxue: I want her to know I like her. I want her to figure out that I lied because I want her to like me too.
Wang You: So that’s it. I always wondered how someone as proud as you could lie for love. Turns out your schemes run deep.
[facepalm emoji] I give up. You win.
Yu Qingxue: Getting her to love me will take time. I can wait.
[smug emoji] [hands-on-hips emoji] This method is just for Ning Xi. It’s my exclusive strategy for winning her heart.
Wang You: [thumbs up emoji] A plan within a plan. I thought I knew your tricks, but it turns out I’ve been played too.
Wang You: When I fall in love, I swear I’ll never make it this complicated.
The next morning at six, Ning Xi finished washing up and walked out of the bathroom. When she saw the woman standing in the living room, she couldn’t help but pause.
Yu Qingxue was wearing a beautiful cocktail dress. The off-shoulder design revealed her smooth shoulders and delicate collarbones. Her chest was full, but her waist was slender and elegant. The skirt reached the middle of her calves and swayed softly as she moved. Her pale legs peeked through lightly with each step.
Yu Qingxue twirled in front of Ning Xi, a sweet smile lighting up her snowy cheeks as two dimples appeared.
“How do I look?”
“You look absolutely stunning,” Ning Xi said with genuine admiration.
Yu Qingxue walked over and clung to Ning Xi’s arm.
“I don’t believe for a second that I dressed up this nicely and Wang You will still ignore me.”
The two of them walked out of Room 1788 and headed toward the elevator. Ning Xi pressed the button, and the elevator slowly opened.
Once inside, Ning Xi asked, “Which floor does Wang You live on?”
“The thirteenth,” Yu Qingxue said as she reached out and pressed the number 13.
Ning Xi paused, frowning slightly as something clicked in her memory. When Yu Qingxue went to that supposed dinner meeting yesterday, the elevator had stayed at the thirteenth floor for about thirty seconds before heading down to the lobby.
The elevator doors closed and quickly descended to the thirteenth floor. There was a soft chime as the doors opened. Yu Qingxue stepped out first and walked confidently to Room 1366.
“Wang You lives here,” she said in a quiet voice. “What time is it now?”
Ning Xi glanced at her phone. “Six thirty-five.”
“She should be awake by now.”
Yu Qingxue reached up and pressed the doorbell.
They waited, but no one came. She rang it again, twice.
After about ten more seconds, the door finally opened from the inside. Wang You stood there in a fluffy set of pajamas, raising her hand to cover a yawn. Her eyes were still hazy with sleep.
“Qingxue? Ning Xi? What are you doing here so early?”
Yu Qingxue said gently, “Youyou, I have something I’d like to talk to you about. Can we come inside for a few minutes?”
Wang You stood at the door without moving. Her eyes skimmed over Yu Qingxue, and she seemed distracted.
“If there’s something to say, you can say it here.”
“Youyou, there are security cameras in the hallway. Someone might see us. Just give me a little time. I promise it won’t take long.”
There was a trace of pleading in Yu Qingxue’s voice, and Wang You finally gave in. She stepped aside and said, “Come in.”
Ning Xi followed behind Yu Qingxue. While Yu Qingxue only had eyes for Wang You, Ning Xi’s gaze swept toward the shoe rack. She thought she had seen something wrong, so she looked again more carefully.
Among the shoes on the rack, most were about size 36, but there was also a pair of men’s size 39 athletic shoes.
Ning Xi’s heart sank slightly. She had just seen those exact shoes on Wei Nian yesterday.
Feeling uneasy, she quickly followed Yu Qingxue into the living room.
She casually scanned the room, but everything looked normal.
“Youyou, let’s talk in your bedroom. Ning Xi can wait here,” Yu Qingxue said.
Ning Xi immediately watched Wang You’s expression.
At the mention of her bedroom, Wang You’s body seemed to tense up. Her eyes flickered briefly toward the bedroom door.
“Let’s talk here. I trust Ning Xi. She won’t repeat anything.”
Ning Xi smiled. “I really don’t want to hear private stuff. Why don’t I wait in the bedroom instead?”
She caught the flash of panic in Wang You’s eyes.
Wang You pressed her lips together and quickly said, “No need. I’ll go with Qingxue.”
At least if she went in, she could keep an eye on things. If Ning Xi entered the room instead and found something, it would be a disaster.
Wang You and Yu Qingxue walked into the bedroom to talk. Ning Xi got up and slowly wandered around the living room.
At the entrance, she saw the same size 39 athletic shoes again. On the coat rack was an oversized sports jacket marked XL.
Near the floor-to-ceiling window stood a wine bottle, still half-full, with two long-stem glasses beside it.
Both glasses had lipstick marks, and they weren’t the same.
Ning Xi returned to the sofa and turned around to look at the backrest. There, on the fabric, she found a few short black hairs.
Wang You had shoulder-length hair that was soft and light-colored. These hairs were thicker and clearly not hers.
Still, this evidence wasn’t enough to confirm anything. Maybe Wang You and Wei Nian had simply gone over lines together and had a little wine. The shoes and jacket could have been left behind by accident when Wei Nian got tipsy.
Suddenly, from inside the bedroom, Yu Qingxue’s voice rang out in disbelief.
“Youyou, why is Wei Nian here?!”
