Everyone Loves the Alpha, But He’s Not Interested [Transmigration] - Chapter 26
Perhaps Qi Huaihuai had been frightened by Ning Xi’s prophecy. He didn’t send her a single message the entire day, giving Ning Xi a rare and peaceful break.
The next morning, Ning Xi woke up and, as usual, sent Yu Qingxue a good morning message.
Ning Xi: President Yu, see you at the film studio~
After getting up and washing her face, Ning Xi changed her clothes, packed her ID card, bank card, and most importantly, her pheromone suppressant. She planned to take the cheapest high-speed train to Beihai Film City.
Just before leaving, Yu Qingxue replied to her message.
Yu Qingxue: The production crew has booked rooms at a five-star hotel. [Location attached]
Ning Xi: Got it. Traveling with President Yu always comes with benefits~
Yu Qingxue: How are you getting there?
Beihai Film City was located in the southern suburbs of Beihai City, about twenty to thirty kilometers from the city center. Beihua College, where Ning Xi studied, was in the far north of the city, over fifty kilometers away in a straight line.
Ning Xi: I just bought a train ticket.
Yu Qingxue: What time is it?
Ning Xi: Ten in the morning. I’ll arrive at the station near Beihai Film City by ten thirty. Then I’ll take a taxi to the hotel and should arrive by eleven.
Yu Qingxue: Alright. Be careful on the road.
Yu Qingxue’s tone in messages was always very formal, almost cold. But Ning Xi knew that she used this distant tone as a way to protect herself.
Looking at the screen, Ning Xi imagined what kind of expression Yu Qingxue might have while texting her and couldn’t help but smile softly.
The opening ceremony for Asking the Devil was scheduled for two fifteen in the afternoon. It was said that Jiang Yuanxin had chosen the time based on advice from a master of fortune.
Ning Xi arrived at the five-star hotel right on time at eleven in the morning.
There were crew members stationed at the entrance. One of them, Ren Rong, spotted Ning Xi getting out of the taxi. Her eyes lit up as she rushed over with enthusiasm.
“Miss Ning, you’re finally here! I’m Ren Rong. I’ll be your assistant for the next three months. If you need anything, just let me know. Let me help you with your suitcase.”
Ning Xi was only carrying a simple canvas backpack. After closing the car door, Ren Rong moved toward the trunk, but the taxi driver drove away immediately, leaving behind a cloud of exhaust.
“Miss Ning! The driver took your suitcase!” Ren Rong cried out anxiously.
“I didn’t bring any luggage,” Ning Xi replied calmly.
Ren Rong’s expression shifted from worry to surprise. “You didn’t bring any?”
“President Yu arranged to ship it for me. Nothing to worry about.”
“Oh, President Yu helped you send it… President Yu?!” Ren Rong gasped, covering her mouth, her eyes full of disbelief.
“Yes, it was President Yu. Why are you surprised?” Ning Xi asked, a bit puzzled.
Ning Xi was tall and elegant. Even standing at the entrance of a five-star hotel in a plain school uniform, she looked like a graceful crane that had accidentally wandered into the human world. In a place like Beihai Film City, where celebrities were everywhere, she still stood out effortlessly.
Noticing that people nearby seemed eager to approach them, Ren Rong quickly lowered her hand and said, “Miss Ning, let’s go inside and talk.”
“Alright,” Ning Xi nodded and walked with her into the hotel.
“This hotel is strict about check-ins. Only the guest can complete the process. Just show your ID at the front desk. The production team will handle the payment later.”
Ning Xi nodded in understanding.
At the front desk, Ren Rong stepped forward and said confidently, “We’re from the Asking the Devil production team. This is our lead actress, Miss Ning. She’ll need a presidential suite.”
Naturally, the lead actress deserved the best room.
“Of course. May I see your ID, please?” The receptionist smiled as she looked up. The moment she saw Ning Xi’s stunning beauty, she froze for a second. Blushing, she stammered, “Please give me your ID. I need to complete the registration.”
Ren Rong stood nearby, proud and satisfied.
Ning Xi’s beauty was already well known among the Asking the Devil team. Everyone believed she would become a huge star after her debut. If her acting matched her appearance, she might even win international awards like Yu Qingxue.
Ren Rong had competed with many others for the position of Ning Xi’s assistant.
Even though she was just a temporary crew assistant for three months, if she performed well and earned Ning Xi’s trust, she might get to stay on as her full-time assistant.
Ning Xi handed over her ID. The receptionist checked the photo and returned it after entering her information.
“All done,” she said softly, still blushing.
“Thank you,” Ning Xi replied politely.
“This is your room key. Please keep it safe.”
Before Ning Xi could take it, Ren Rong stepped forward and accepted it.
The disappointment in the receptionist’s eyes was clear.
Ren Rong thought to herself, trying to hand over the key just to touch Miss Ning’s hand? Not on my watch.
A butler in a black tailcoat approached them. “Ladies, please follow me.”
Suddenly, there was a commotion at the hotel entrance. A petite girl wearing sunglasses walked in, surrounded by bodyguards. Behind her came the high-pitched screams of fans.
“Piaopiao, Mama loves you!”
Ning Xi looked slightly confused. Ren Rong leaned in and whispered, “That’s Bai Piaopiao. She just won a talent show and joined a girl group. She claims to be sixteen and says she hasn’t presented yet. Most of her fans are ‘mom-fans.'”
Bai Piaopiao ignored the fans outside and walked straight to the front desk. She placed her ID down with a firm tap.
“I want a presidential suite.”
Her voice had not yet matured. It was crisp and soft, like a sweet and innocent child. Even though her tone was commanding, it didn’t sound rude.
“Yes, Miss Bai. Right away.” Without any distractions this time, the receptionist moved quickly and returned her ID and room key in less than twenty seconds.
“I’ll call the butler to take you to your room.”
Bai Piaopiao had stayed here before. She knew that the two presidential suites were on the top floor and that only those suites came with a butler in a tailcoat.
She had already noticed that the two women heading toward the elevator were being led by a butler.
“No need. I’ll go up with them. I don’t need a butler.”
She quickly walked toward them and called out, “Wait!”
Ning Xi turned around, her dark eyes settling on Bai Piaopiao’s adorable round face.
“Is there something you need?” she asked gently.
Bai Piaopiao’s bodyguards followed and surrounded her. Ren Rong instinctively stepped in front of Ning Xi and said with caution, “Miss Bai, it’s best to keep a respectful distance.”
But Bai Piaopiao didn’t hear a word. Her full attention was already captured by Ning Xi’s stunning face.
Bai Piaopiao stared blankly at Ning Xi’s face, her gaze shy yet direct.
“Hi, I’m Bai Piaopiao. What’s your name?”
It was the first time Ning Xi had ever been approached so boldly. The bodyguards standing next to Bai Piaopiao were tall and muscular, glaring at her as if they might start a fight if she didn’t respond.
Ren Rong quickly stepped in front of Ning Xi and raised her arm.
“Sorry, Miss Bai. We’re in a hurry to get upstairs and don’t have time to chat.”
“Miss Ning, please go ahead. I’ll handle things here,” Ren Rong whispered behind her.
Even though she had lowered her voice, Bai Piaopiao was close enough to hear clearly. She frowned like a child and looked at Ren Rong with frustration.
“I was talking to her. You don’t have to keep getting in the way.”
Ren Rong thought to herself, You’re still underage. Miss Ning absolutely can’t get too close to you. If rumors spread, it’ll be a disaster.
“Miss Bai, it’s really not convenient right now. We’re in a hurry,” Ren Rong said, then turned around and urged Ning Xi, “Miss Ning, let’s go. Quickly.” She clearly saw Bai Piaopiao as a major source of trouble.
Ning Xi didn’t hesitate. She turned and quickly walked toward the elevator. The butler was caught off guard and only reacted after a pause, jogging to catch up with her.
Once Ren Rong saw them step into the elevator and the doors slowly close, she let out a long breath of relief and wiped the sweat from her forehead.
Unpresented individuals were still physically immature, and being too close to an unpresented minor celebrity could easily lead to misunderstandings, or worse, rumors of inappropriate relationships. If that happened, Bai Piaopiao might walk away unscathed, but Ning Xi’s reputation could be completely ruined. Not only would she lose her role in Asking the Devil, she could even be forced out of the industry by angry fans.
That was why Ren Rong had been so tense.
Bai Piaopiao pouted in annoyance.
“You don’t need to treat me like some kind of monster. I booked a presidential suite too. I just wanted to go up with you. Why are you so scared?”
Ren Rong forced a polite smile.
“Miss Bai, there are paparazzi swarming outside. We really can’t take any risks. Please understand.”
Bai Piaopiao let out a cold humph, walked around Ren Rong, and headed toward another elevator with her bodyguards in tow.
The receptionist noticed something was wrong and quickly called Bai Piaopiao’s private butler to assist.
The butler rushed over and swiped a card to call the elevator.
“Miss Bai, I’m sorry for the delay. Please step inside.”
With her head held high, Bai Piaopiao walked into the elevator proudly, followed by the group of bodyguards.
Ren Rong, still rattled, ran back to the front desk.
“Miss, can we add each other on WeChat? If you see Bai Piaopiao around again, please give me a heads-up. That girl doesn’t understand boundaries. If something happens, Miss Ning will be the one blamed.”
Without hesitation, the receptionist replied, “Of course. I’ll have my colleagues keep an eye on her too.” She had never seen such a bold young girl get that close to an Alpha before.
In the entertainment industry, unpresented young stars were usually managed by parents or siblings. Having someone responsible helped keep things in check. But Bai Piaopiao came from a wealthy family, was used to getting her way, and moved around with a team of bodyguards, doing as she pleased.
Ren Rong had heard some gossip from a friend. During the talent show, Bai Piaopiao was once photographed having dinner with her mentor, who was an Alpha. Even though other people had been present, the paparazzi pictures only showed the two of them, and it even looked like the mentor’s hand was resting on her shoulder. To avoid trouble, the mentor had ended up paying a large sum to buy the photos and bury the story.
Ning Xi entered the presidential suite by swiping her key card. The butler gave her a quick tour of the room and, before leaving, said, “If you need anything, just call the front desk directly.”
Two minutes later, the doorbell rang. Ning Xi looked through the peephole and saw Ren Rong’s face. She opened the door.
Ren Rong stepped inside with a troubled expression.
“Miss Ning, I’m sure you have President Yu’s WeChat. You should tell her what just happened. Bai Piaopiao comes from a powerful family and has an unusual background. I managed to stop her this time, but I might not be able to next time.”
At first, Ning Xi hadn’t understood why Ren Rong was so nervous. But after entering the room, she searched through the original host’s memories and finally realized the reason.
“Alright. I’ll message President Yu in a bit. You’ve done well. Please sit down and rest.”
Ning Xi poured her a cup of tea and sat across from her. She brought up an earlier topic.
“Why were you so surprised when I said President Yu helped ship my luggage?”
Ren Rong drank the tea in one gulp, then placed the cup down and said, “President Yu is known as the most untouchable flower in the industry. Everyone who works with her knows she’s especially distant with Alphas. She has invested in several film and television projects before, but whether at work or in private, she has never been close with any of the Alpha leads. Shipping someone’s luggage would be unheard of.”
“Miss Ning, if President Yu is treating you so well, she must see your potential. She really admires you. I’m sure you’re going to be famous.”
Ning Xi felt a small flutter in her heart. So Yu Qingxue really did treat her differently?
Did that mean she wanted to become friends?
The layout of the presidential suite was similar to the second floor of Yu Qingxue’s villa. There were two bedrooms separated by a living room. There was also a game room and a home theater off to the side. Ning Xi chose the bedroom on the left.
After finishing her chat with Ren Rong, she felt a little closer to Yu Qingxue.
She went into the bedroom and sat down at the edge of the bed. Taking out her phone, she opened WeChat. Her contact list was nearly empty. She had only chatted with two or three people.
The most recent conversation was with Yu Qingxue, so her name stayed pinned at the top. Assistant Xue’s name was second.
Ning Xi opened the chat with Yu Qingxue, carefully edited her message several times, then finally sent it. She explained what had happened earlier and shared Ren Rong’s concerns, asking Yu Qingxue what she should do in such situations.
Yu Qingxue was on her way to the hotel when she read the message. Her expression immediately turned cold.
Jiang Yuanxin, who was sitting beside her, was startled.
“What’s wrong? You were fine just a moment ago.”
With a blank expression, Yu Qingxue handed over the phone for him to read.
After reading the message, Jiang Yuanxin’s face darkened.
“What is wrong with Bai Piaopiao? She’s sixteen, not a toddler. Does she not understand her situation? Is she trying to ruin Ning Xi?”
“I remember Bai Piaopiao is the youngest daughter of the Bai family. That’s a scholarly family. How could they raise someone like this? Someone so…” Jiang Yuanxin trailed off, struggling to find the right words.
Yu Qingxue’s pale eyes turned icy.
“If the Bai family doesn’t know how to teach their daughter, I’ll help them learn.”
