Everyone Loves the Alpha, But He’s Not Interested [Transmigration] - Chapter 25
Qi Huaihuai was completely stunned.
Zhu Lan’an had once claimed to be head over heels for her, chasing her around the school every day. How had things changed so quickly in just half a month? She had barely returned, and Zhu Lan’an’s attention had already shifted to Ning Xi?
Her pride was bruised. She bit down stubbornly on her lip, just hard enough to draw a trace of blood from the soft pink skin. “Zhu Lan’an, Ning Xi would never like someone like you. Stop dreaming!”
The infatuated look on Zhu Lan’an’s face vanished in an instant. Her expression turned icy as she asked in a sinister voice, “What did you just say?”
A chill ran from the soles of Qi Huaihuai’s feet up through her entire body. Being stared at by Zhu Lan’an was like being watched by a venomous snake—one wrong move, and she would strike.
“Ning Xi… Ning Xi doesn’t like you.” Qi Huaihuai’s voice trembled, her teeth chattering. Her face was so pale she looked like she might faint at any moment.
She told herself not to be afraid. Someone like Zhu Lan’an would never respect people who showed fear. If she could just appear a little braver, Zhu Lan’an might shift her attention back to her.
Qi Huaihuai had always known exactly what she wanted. Zhu Lan’an might be a bit twisted, but she was rich and powerful, walking around Beihua Academy like she owned the place.
By contrast, Ning Xi, like her, came from an orphanage. She had nothing.
Qi Huaihuai knew Ning Xi liked her. After she differentiated into an Alpha, her appearance had become even more attractive. It was tempting. But Zhu Lan’an could offer things Ning Xi never could.
Qi Huaihuai didn’t want to go back to a poor life. Out of all the people who pursued her, Zhu Lan’an had the best conditions. She had planned to accept her once she returned to school. Who could have guessed things would change so quickly?
“Zhu Lan’an, Ning Xi is an Alpha, and you’ll probably differentiate into one too. Two Alphas can’t be together. Just give up already. Stop bothering her. Choose me instead.”
Zhu Lan’an didn’t even bother responding directly. With a snap of her fingers, she called out coldly, “Get rid of her.”
The moment she spoke, her group of lackeys surged forward and surrounded Qi Huaihuai.
“Don’t—don’t come any closer!” Qi Huaihuai backed away, her big eyes filling with tears. She looked pitiful and helpless.
Zhu Lan’an’s signature red hair fluttered wildly in the wind. Students coming to the cafeteria immediately recognized the bright color and hurried to avoid her.
Being targeted by the school bully meant you were either doomed or would be beaten within an inch of your life. Even though people noticed that the ones being surrounded were Ning Xi and a pretty Omega, no one dared to interfere.
Ning Xi frowned and reached out to steady Qi Huaihuai, who was on the verge of collapsing.
She had once played a student driven to suicide by bullying in a drama and knew just how deeply bullying could wound a person.
She felt nothing but disgust for someone like Zhu Lan’an.
The author of the novel had even written in the endnote that she personally disliked Zhu Lan’an and promised to give her a serious punishment.
At the time, Ning Xi had looked forward to that, thinking there would be a dramatic moment where Zhu Lan’an ended up in prison. But the so-called punishment in the novel turned out to be Zhu Lan’an differentiating into an Omega and entering heat. She and the original host ended up spending a passionate night together.
After ten days and nights of entanglement, the original host no longer hated Zhu Lan’an and began treating her with gentleness. The emotionally starved Zhu Lan’an fell madly in love and became one of the many devoted lovers helping the protagonist through her heat cycles.
Ning Xi didn’t want to have anything to do with people like that.
“Zhu Lan’an, don’t touch Qi Huaihuai.” Her voice was calm but full of warning.
Zhu Lan’an squinted, licking her dry lips. “So just because you told me not to, I’m supposed to back off? That would make me look pathetic.”
“But I’m open to discussion… It depends on whether you’re willing to cooperate.”
“I’m not,” Ning Xi replied flatly.
Qi Huaihuai had already lost all her earlier courage. She stood trembling, saying nothing.
No matter what Zhu Lan’an said, Ning Xi responded with unwavering coldness. Zhu Lan’an’s temper flared more and more.
“Ning Xi, don’t make me lose patience. You really think you can act all high and mighty just because I like you?”
“As long as it’s not your kind of affection, I’ll live,” Ning Xi replied.
At that moment, her phone buzzed in her pocket. She took it out and saw that Yu Qingxue had messaged her.
Yu Qingxue:
Good afternoon. Have you eaten yet?
The corner of Ning Xi’s lips lifted into a smile.
Ning Xi:
I was just about to. Got stopped by a stray dog. Let me chase it off first.
Yu Qingxue:
There are stray dogs on campus? Be careful.
Ning Xi:
I will. Thank you, President Yu. [twirling emoji]
After chatting with Yu Qingxue, her mood improved significantly. But when she looked up at Zhu Lan’an again, she was more irritated than ever.
Zhu Lan’an’s eyes were bloodshot. Her voice turned hoarse. “Who were you texting just now?”
“What’s it to you?” Ning Xi’s gaze turned icy. “Move. I’m going to eat. I don’t have time to waste on you.”
Zhu Lan’an’s breath hitched. Anger surged in her eyes. “You’d better tell me. I can’t guarantee what I’ll do if you don’t. Don’t think just because I like you, you can walk all over me.”
Ning Xi took a hair tie from her pocket and calmly tied her hair back.
“You talk too much. Stop wasting time. Let’s fight.”
“If you lose, don’t ever bother me again,” she said, glancing sideways at the twin-tailed girl still shaking next to her. “And leave Qi Huaihuai alone.”
Qi Huaihuai grabbed the sleeve of Ning Xi’s oversized school jacket and whispered nervously, “Ning Xi, there are so many of them… And if you fight, the school will give you a demerit.”
Ning Xi pulled her sleeve free. “So what? A demerit is worth it if it means teaching trash a lesson.”
“You don’t know how to fight. Go to the cafeteria and get me a plate of rice with toppings. I’ll be there as soon as I finish.”
She stuffed her meal card into Qi Huaihuai’s hand and gently pushed her away.
Zhu Lan’an didn’t stop her. Neither did her group of lackeys. They all glared at Ning Xi, brimming with aggression, ready to pounce.
Qi Huaihuai sniffled as she walked out of the circle of students, turning back with every step as she headed into the cafeteria.
Inside, her thoughts were a complete mess.
She didn’t want Ning Xi to lose but she didn’t want her to win either.
If Ning Xi lost, Zhu Lan’an would definitely force her to become her girlfriend. But if Ning Xi won, there was a chance Zhu Lan’an would actually back off and stop bothering her.
Either outcome was something Qi Huaihuai didn’t want to see.
“Are you coming at me one by one, or all together?” Ning Xi asked coldly, her voice clear and sharp.
Zhu Lan’an raised her hand, signaling for her lackeys to back away. “I’ll do it myself.”
Her underlings stepped aside and formed a loose circle around them. Some students in the distance quietly took photos but didn’t dare post them to the campus forum or share them in any group chats.
Anyone who had ever uploaded evidence of Zhu Lan’an’s violence before had all been tracked down through her influence and money. In the end, they were either forced to withdraw from school or take a leave of absence.
“You sure about this? I’m an Alpha now,” Ning Xi reminded her calmly.
After secondary gender differentiation, an Alpha’s physical abilities increased significantly. Betas remained average, while Omegas became more delicate and fertile.
Zhu Lan’an had not yet differentiated, meaning her physical condition was still that of a normal Beta.
“You think I’m weak?” Zhu Lan’an snapped. “Come at me. I want to see just how tough you really are!”
Since the challenge was accepted, Ning Xi didn’t hold back.
She gave Zhu Lan’an a proper lesson, showing no mercy.
Three minutes later, Zhu Lan’an was lying flat on the ground, pale and gasping like a broken-down engine, completely drained.
Violence should never be the solution to a problem. That said, Ning Xi hadn’t even laid a finger on her. Zhu Lan’an had exhausted herself trying to land a hit, only to end up like a collapsed dog.
“Do you admit defeat?” Ning Xi stood over her, looking down with cool detachment.
Zhu Lan’an turned her head toward Ning Xi with difficulty. A twisted grin tugged at her lips. “You… couldn’t bring yourself… to hit me…”
Ning Xi replied calmly, “You’re filthy. I just didn’t want to dirty my hands. You’re not worth it.”
“You lost, Zhu Lan’an. From now on, stay away from me and Qi Huaihuai.”
Without waiting for a response, Ning Xi turned and headed for the cafeteria. The circle of lackeys around them parted fearfully. None of them dared to block her path.
At that moment, Qi Huaihuai had just bought the rice bowl. When she turned around, she saw Ning Xi walking in from outside. Her school uniform was spotless. Her long hair, like a waterfall, hung smoothly down her back, not a single strand out of place.
Qi Huaihuai froze in surprise. Carrying the tray nervously, she hurried over to Ning Xi.
“Did Zhu Lan’an not fight you and just leave?”
“Zhu Lan’an’s not the kind of lunatic who would let me off that easily,” Ning Xi replied, taking the rice bowl from her and placing it on an empty table.
Qi Huaihuai sat down across from her, her voice full of worry. “Then what happened? Is Zhu Lan’an hurt?”
Ning Xi glanced at her and said evenly, “Zhu Lan’an isn’t right for you.”
Qi Huaihuai’s thoughts were easy to read. After growing up poor, she was clearly trying to use her beauty to rise quickly.
“How would you know if she’s right for me or not?” Qi Huaihuai pressed, sounding upset.
“Because Zhu Lan’an is about to differentiate into an Omega.”
Qi Huaihuai thought Ning Xi was just making things up to scare her into giving up on Zhu Lan’an. But the very next day, news spread across campus that Zhu Lan’an had suddenly developed a high fever and undergone differentiation in the middle of the night, becoming an Omega.
Qi Huaihuai was stunned.
“!”
