Does the Alpha Have to Be a Succubus too? - Chapter 2
No one noticed the Lu father and son moving quietly out of town. To spare their feelings, Ferroel did not make a grand scene. At Lu Ze’s insistence, Ferroel sat in the passenger seat of the small car Lu Ze had bought on a loan.
Looking at Ferroel, who had to duck his head just to fit into the car, Lu Ze clicked his tongue. “Why did you grow to be so damn big?”
Lu Heguang sat in the back with his modest amount of luggage. Amidst the roar of the engine, he looked back at the small house he had lived in for over a decade. His ears were filled with the still unfriendly bickering between Lu Ze and Ferroel. As he watched the roadside scenery recede and finally vanish from sight, Lu Heguang’s attention was drawn back by Ferroel’s voice.
“Take a look at this.” Ferroel unfastened the terminal from his wrist and handed it to Lu Heguang. Under his guidance, the boy tapped the floating screen. Appearing before him was an enrollment application, and the applicant was Lu Heguang himself.
“Wyatt Mecha Academy?” Lu Heguang froze when he saw the school’s name. “This is the top academy on the Imperial Star.”
“Of course. I will give you both the best of everything.” Ferroel reached out, intending to pat Lu Heguang’s head as Lu Ze often did, but the space inside the car was too cramped. After a few attempts, he finally withdrew his hand. Lu Ze let out a cold snort but said nothing.
Lu Heguang had only heard snippets about Wyatt Academy in the news. He knew that most of the soldiers on the Imperial Star graduated from Wyatt, and even those who did not join the military became elite talents of the Empire. To enter Wyatt, one needed either powerful connections or exceptional ability.
It seemed he was relying on the former.
Lu Heguang sighed. Ferroel did not miss his reaction and explained, “If you wish, I can arrange for you to take the entrance exam. Actually, the requirements for Wyatt are not that difficult; many people just make it out to be more complicated than it is.”
Through Ferroel’s introduction, Lu Heguang learned that Wyatt Academy did not just recruit Alphas; Betas and Omegas could also enroll under the same conditions, though most Omegas chose to join the Medical Department or the Logistics Resource Department.
“Xiaoguang, just choose whatever you prefer,” Lu Ze said as he turned the steering wheel to make a corner. “No matter what you choose, Dad will support you.”
“I know,” Lu Heguang said with a light chuckle. He handed the terminal back to Ferroel, who added, “You can go and adapt for a while first. Wyatt has a training period prepared for newcomers. I will arrange for a senior to guide you.”
“Graduation was just yesterday, and Wyatt already has new students enrolling?” Lu Heguang asked in surprise.
Ferroel nodded. “Time never stops for the weak. As my son, you should become a, er.”
His unfinished sentence was cut short when Lu Ze jabbed an elbow into his chest. Lu Heguang laughed silently; he could see that his father’s attitude toward Ferroel had improved significantly. It seemed the two of them had communicated many things thoroughly the night before.
“Dad, I have a request,” Lu Heguang suddenly spoke up. “I want to dye my hair.”
That afternoon, before being taken home by Ferroel, Lu Heguang was first dropped off in front of the Wyatt Mecha Academy. As a visitor, a green wristband was placed on Lu Heguang’s wrist; Ferroel wore one as well.
“The training period starts in two days. I brought you here today to meet your guide.” Ferroel looked at the blue-haired youth beside him and said nothing. Lu Ze wrapped an arm around Lu Heguang’s shoulders, adjusted his hair, and leaned down to plant a kiss on his cheek with a smile. “Looks good. Go on, go on.”
“You are not coming?” Ferroel asked, fearing Lu Ze might vanish again and hide for another dozen years. Lu Ze replied crossly without looking back, “I still have to process my resignation. Do you think everyone can just come and go as they please like you?”
Ferroel let out a long breath and took up his responsibility as a father, leading Lu Heguang into the academy. The place did not look much different from a regular school, which helped Lu Heguang settle his nerves slightly. Guided by Ferroel, they arrived at an area resembling a dormitory building. The surroundings were planted with various flowers and plants, and some students were chatting by the flowerbeds. Just then, Ferroel’s terminal suddenly rang.
“Wait for me a moment.” Ferroel patted Lu Heguang’s shoulder, gesturing for him not to wander off, before tapping his terminal and walking to the side.
Lu Heguang waited obediently where he was. He knew Ferroel was busy; how could the leader of the Imperial Star not be? It was better not to disturb him.
He was about to sit on the edge of the flowerbed for a while when he suddenly heard a loud slap nearby. Lu Heguang instinctively turned his head and saw a female student walking past him in a huff, not forgetting to turn back and shout “Scumbag!” at the person behind her.
“Delle, you hit way too hard!”
Lu Heguang watched with interest as a young man chased after her, but the girl named Delle did not give him a second glance from start to finish. The young man lacked the stamina to keep up and eventually stopped, clutching his face and hissing in pain.
Looking at the handprint on his face, Lu Heguang was certain he must have truly infuriated the girl just now. Seeing how much pain he was in, Lu Heguang was about to step forward to ask if he needed help, but before he could move, the young man suddenly snapped his head up to look at him. “An Alpha?”
Lu Heguang, who had only recently differentiated, nodded blankly. Then he saw the young man wave his hand with quite a bit of disdain. “Stay away from me. I am allergic to Alphas. Looking at you, are you a newcomer?”
One moment he was telling him to stay away, and the next he was acting concerned. Lu Heguang could not quite figure out what he was up to, so he simply nodded. “I am here for the training period.”
“What a coincidence, I am also here waiting for my trainee.” The young man sat down on the edge of the flowerbed, maintaining a distance from Lu Heguang. “Did you see any other newcomers like you when you arrived?”
Lu Heguang shook his head, a suspicion forming in his mind. “What is his name?”
“Let me see.” The young man pulled a terminal from his uniform pocket. His slender fingers tapped gracefully a few times to pull up an application. He read it carefully, not noticing that the Alpha beside him was stealing glances at him.
Lu Heguang caught the scent of the Omega pheromones on him; it was not sweet, but rather a very fresh fragrance, though he could not quite identify it for the moment.
This person had a beautiful face; whether viewed objectively or subjectively, he was a stunning, tall beauty. However, the slap mark on his face made it hard to have a good impression of him. Even so, Lu Heguang could hear his own heartbeat skipping away from its normal rhythm.
He seemed to have a very good feeling about this young man.
“Lu Heguang.”
The young man’s sudden voice startled Lu Heguang. Seeing such a big reaction, the young man paused. “You could not be Lu Heguang, could you?”
Lu Heguang swallowed hard. “Yes.”
“You are not allowed to tell anyone about what you just saw,” the young man said, quickly standing up and leaning forward to warn him. “I still need to date, so do not go talking nonsense, you hear me?”
Lu Heguang nodded. “I definitely will not say a word.”
“Smart of you.” The young man extended his hand in an inviting gesture. “Let us shake on it. I am your guide, Salorian.”
As he spoke, he stood up straight, and the curve of his lean waist flashed before Lu Heguang’s eyes. Lu Heguang quickly reached out to take his hand. “Please look after me.”
“Salorian, so this is where you were.” Ferroel walked over from nearby. Looking at their joined hands which had not let go yet, the leader of the Imperial Star smiled slightly. “It seems you are as good as ever at receiving people. I will leave my son in your hands.”
“No problem, Marshal, you can rest easy. Wait, what did you just say?” Salorian froze. “Since when did you have a son?”
“You know now.” Ferroel laughed and patted both of their shoulders, saying to Lu Heguang, “I am going to pick up Lu Ze. I will come for you tonight.”
“Okay. With a senior leading me, there will not be any problems.” Lu Heguang nodded obediently and watched Ferroel leave Wyatt Academy. Beside him, Salorian was practically rubbing his chin raw and still could not figure out why Ferroel had a son. Lu Heguang tugged on his sleeve and stood up. “Senior, could you take me on a tour of the academy?”
Looking at Lu Heguang, who stood taller than himself, Salorian pushed his confusion aside. “Follow me then. How old are you?”
“I just turned eighteen yesterday.”
“Then you will have to live with me.” Salorian led him into the dormitory building first. “I will show you where we live. This place follows a four-day-a-week boarding system. You can choose to go home for the rest of the time, but most students choose to stay. The library or the training grounds are great places to go.”
Salorian was very responsible. He took Lu Heguang upstairs to his own dorm and explained how to use various things. Upon hearing Lu Heguang say he was from a remote small town, he did not mock him; instead, he more carefully detailed many things to watch out for at Wyatt.
“Here, the senior-junior system is quite prominent. Do not talk back to your seniors.” Salorian prepared to take him to the cafeteria. “By the way, have you chosen your major?”
“Not yet. Ferroel’s idea was for me to consider it during the training period,” Lu Heguang replied. Salorian stopped in his tracks and looked him up and down. “You are suited for the Combat Department. When did you differentiate?”
“Yesterday.” Lu Heguang’s words caused Salorian to choke on his own saliva, coughing violently. Lu Heguang hurriedly patted his back. “Senior, are you okay?”
“Cough, cough. I am fine.” Salorian waved his hand, finally calming down. “What did you eat growing up? You just differentiated yesterday and you already look like this?”
“Do I look strange?” Lu Heguang asked cautiously, thinking he had spotted a flaw in his succubus disguise.
“Not strange, quite handsome.” Salorian patted his chest. “Good build, too, sturdy. You are definitely suited for the Combat Department.”
Lu Heguang thought miserably to himself: A succubus in the Combat Department? I do not even want to imagine it.
“By the way, Senior, the person who hit you earlier seemed to be an Omega too?” Lu Heguang suddenly remembered. “You are an Omega as well, right?”
It was not impossible for two Omegas to be together, but the probability was about as low as being struck by a meteorite.
“So what?” Salorian said, hands on his hips. “I will never like men. I like girls!”
“What about female Alphas?” Lu Heguang’s heart sank. Was his budding affection about to be snuffed out?
“I have no interest in Alphas.” Salorian waved a hand dismissively. “The rut, the marking; it is all too melodramatic.”
Lu Heguang shut his mouth. As Salorian continued leading him toward the cafeteria, he suddenly turned back with a frown. “Do not tell me you have got designs on me.”
“I know, you are not interested in Alphas,” Lu Heguang said dryly. Salorian laughed and ruffled his hair. “You are alright. You are obedient and sweet.”
Lu Heguang hesitated to speak, but finally followed obediently. What if he could be the exception for Salorian?
