- Divorcing Right After Enlisting? The Army Commander Hugs Her Waist and Coaxes His Little One
- Chapter 9 - She Always Gives Off a Sense of Indifference
“What is going on here?”
Department Chief Tan, dressed in a white coat and wearing glasses, walked over from the corridor and inquired.
“Chief Tan, this trainee failed her training. I asked her to leave early, but she is unwilling and insists on causing trouble here.” Nurse Yan repeated what she had just said.
“Failed?” Chief Tan looked at Section Chief Tian. “Are you certain?”
Section Chief Tian looked at Nurse Yan. It had been her own idea to make things difficult for Ruan Qiu, so she could not let Nurse Yan be the one to look bad now.
“Yes, Chief Tan. She is unqualified and not suitable to be medical personnel!”
Tian Ruanruan wanted to say something, but Section Chief Tian glared at her and commanded in a low voice: “Go back!”
Tian Ruanruan looked at Ruan Qiu and said apologetically: “I am sorry, sister-in-law.”
Ruan Qiu realized that today’s training was ruined.
“It does not matter that you are not giving me an explanation. I will wait for the hospital director to give me one.”
“You young girl, why are you so willful?” Section Chief Tian was very angry. She could not believe she could not drive away one little girl!
“Chief Tan, look at this. With this kind of personality, can she be a good medical worker?” Section Chief Tian sought support from Chief Tan. As long as Chief Tan nodded, it would be useless even if Ruan Qiu went to the director.
Just as Chief Tan was pondering, a nurse ran over in a rush.
“Chief Tan, your son has fallen and is injured.”
What?
Chief Tan stomped his foot and hurried out. Doctor Tian followed closely behind.
Ruan Qiu smiled at Tian Ruanruan: “Thank you.”
“I am sorry, sister-in-law. I did not know you were so capable before. I really thought you were just a girl from the countryside who could not read or write, so…”
If she had known, she would not have said those things to her aunt.
Ruan Qiu understood the sequence of events from her guilty tone. It seemed that Zhou Yinian had a hand in this behind the scenes. Moreover, this Tian Ruanruan had a personality that was too weak and easily manipulated.
Ruan Qiu did not necessarily need to be a nurse; she had only signed up because she felt she was a step closer to the dream of being a doctor she had in her previous life. But now, it seemed everything was not as perfect as she had imagined.
Ruan Qiu was just about to leave when Chief Tan walked over, dragging a young man by the arm.
“We are going to find the director to talk this over! Let us see if you really want your father to stay in this hospital with your behavior!”
The young man retorted impatiently: “I already told you, I do not like being a doctor. I do not like being a doctor. Why will you not listen?”
“If you do not become a doctor, what will you do? With your personality, are you fit to be a soldier?”
“Why am I not fit?” The young man argued his case. “If I cannot be a soldier, I can be a cultural troupe member! I can sing!”
“Enough, enough. I cannot manage you anymore. You tell the director today; as long as you are unwilling, I will not force you either.” Chief Tan waved his hand: “Do not waste the nation’s resources here.”
The young man snorted and turned to leave in a huff.
“Wait a moment!”
Ruan Qiu instinctively called out to the young man. She looked at his head and asked: “Did you collide with someone while driving earlier?”
“Who are you? It is none of your business!” The young man attacked everyone indiscriminately out of impatience.
“Chief Tan, I suggest you have your son get an electroencephalogram (EEG).”
“No, who are you?” The young man was very dissatisfied and pointed at Ruan Qiu’s nose. “Look at me, I am full of energy. Where am I sick? Did I not just get into a collision? I am perfectly fine.”
“Your ear is bleeding.”
Chief Tan observed closely and saw that his son’s ear was indeed bleeding.
“My ear…”
Ruan Qiu grabbed the young man’s arm: “Do not touch your ear. Go get an EEG first. Your condition is certainly a concussion.”
“Who are you trying to scare?” The young man was still unconvinced. He raised his arm, feeling that his head was a bit dizzy.
Chief Tan hurriedly supported his son and looked at Ruan Qiu: “You say my son has a concussion?”
“That is correct. I suggest you take him to see a doctor immediately. If you delay the optimal rescue time, you will regret it when it is too late.”
Seeing his son’s face turn pale, Chief Tan said to Ruan Qiu: “Do not leave yet. Come with me.”
Ruan Qiu nodded.
Ruan Qiu followed Chief Tan to the internal medicine department to find Elder Qian, the most skilled doctor there. Elder Qian was an old professor of both Chinese and Western medicine in his sixties. He was at retirement age, but because his medical skills were so superb, the hospital was reluctant to let him retire, so he returned to the internal medicine department to see patients. Elder Qian’s most impressive skill was pulse diagnosis.
“He has a mild concussion. Get him admitted for IV treatment immediately. Stop the bleeding before there is extensive bleeding in the brain vessels.”
“Elder Qian, has my son really suffered a concussion from the impact?” Chief Tan asked, then looked at Ruan Qiu.
She was clearly just a young girl, yet her eyes were so sharp that she could tell at a glance that Tan Bo’s brain had been impacted and that he had a concussion.
“Do you not believe me? Hurry up and get him treated.”
Others looked at each other in dismay. They might not have believed anyone else, but this was Elder Qian, a titan in the medical world who had saved the lives of high-ranking leaders. Chief Tan did not disbelieve Elder Qian, but he had doubted Ruan Qiu. He called a few more people for a consultation, and once it was confirmed that his son indeed had a concussion, he immediately arranged for his son to be hospitalized for treatment.
By the time he finished arranging for his son and came back out, Ruan Qiu had already left.
Chief Tan slapped his thigh: “Such a good doctor, why did she leave?”
Ruan Qiu returned home, cooked some food, and after eating, sat down to wait for Zhou Yishen. She had to explain her situation clearly. She could not let Zhou Yishen think that she failed to get into the hospital because of her own lack of ability, but rather because of other reasons. Regardless of whether this man believed her or not, she had to make it clear.
Zhou Yishen trained until very late. When he pushed the door open, he saw Ruan Qiu, who had been sleeping soundly on the sofa, about to fall off. He quickly stepped forward and caught her head.
Ruan Qiu slowly opened her eyes. Zhou Yishen hurriedly pulled back and sat to the side.
“I often train very late. You do not need to wait for me.”
Ruan Qiu sat up straight and said solemnly: “Zhou Yishen, I might not be able to work at the hospital.”
Zhou Yishen was surprised. With her precise judgment, she could have been an intern doctor, let alone a nurse. How could she suddenly not be able to go to the hospital?
“What happened?”
Ruan Qiu told him the whole story from beginning to end.
“I did nothing wrong. They ended my training early without giving me a reason.”
Zhou Yishen frowned: “I heard from Chen Ji that it was your judgment that saved his wife’s life. They should not have ended your training early like that. I will go ask about the situation tomorrow.”
Ruan Qiu shook her head: “No need. If there are reasonable people at the hospital, they will definitely come to find me and ask me to return. But if there are not, even if I go and demand an explanation, they will just make things difficult for me later.”
With her skills, she did not need to worry about having nowhere to demonstrate them.
Zhou Yishen turned to look at Ruan Qiu. She always gave people a sense of indifference, yet within that indifference lay a stubborn, unyielding strength.
Ruan Qiu recovered her senses and saw Zhou Yishen’s deep, piercing gaze. She asked: “Why are you looking at me like that?”
Zhou Yishen felt suddenly awkward and hurriedly stood up: “It is late. Go to sleep early.”
