- Divorcing Right After Enlisting? The Army Commander Hugs Her Waist and Coaxes His Little One
- Chapter 8 - Saying That I am Unqualified?
“Why are you going against Dr. Qin?” Nurse Yun complained.
Although Dr. Qin was quite skilled, he was a petty man with a very small heart and a long memory. If you offended him, he would likely make things difficult for you in the future.
Ruan Qiu smiled indifferently.
She did not know about Dr. Qin’s medical skills, but his character was lacking. Yesterday, it was clearly her assessment, yet he claimed it as his own. He was certainly good at singing his own praises. How could such a person truly be dedicated to saving lives and serving the people?
“This is bad! The patient’s blood pressure just spiked!” Nurse Yun shouted as she ran out.
Ruan Qiu did not leave. She checked the patient’s eyes and head. This was a case of intracranial hypertension causing high blood pressure. She needed to lower the patient’s blood pressure immediately, but because the pregnant woman had just miscarried and also suffered fractured ribs, the blood pressure medication could not be administered too aggressively.
Dr. Qin and several colleagues rushed into the ward.
“Get out of the way.”
Dr. Qin began to examine the patient’s condition and ordered the nurse, “Inject her with antihypertensive drugs!”
“Understood.”
“Use a low dose of magnesium sulfate!” Ruan Qiu interjected.
Dr. Qin glanced at Ruan Qiu. “Her intracranial pressure will cause blood vessels to rupture. Increase the dosage.”
“You cannot increase the dosage. It needs to be lowered gradually,” Ruan Qiu argued firmly. “She has injuries on her body. If the blood pressure drops too rapidly, it is very likely to cause multi-organ failure.”
The others looked at the two of them, signaling to each other. Who was this nurse who dared to challenge Dr. Qin? Did she not know that Dr. Qin was the most skilled doctor in the hospital’s surgical department and had studied abroad? This nurse was truly overestimating herself.
“Go ahead!” Ruan Qiu signaled the nurse.
Nurse Yun hesitated for a moment, but seeing that Dr. Qin remained silent, she hurriedly ran to get the medicine.
“I will do it.”
Ruan Qiu took the vial and syringe, carefully and meticulously injecting the medication into the patient.
Dr. Qin stared coldly at every move Ruan Qiu made, feeling intense disgust for this reckless young girl. How could anyone take it upon themselves to inject a patient without listening to the physician? This was extremely dangerous.
“The blood pressure has stabilized a bit.” Nurse Yun said after measuring the pressure again, letting out a sigh of relief. She cast a look of admiration at Ruan Qiu.
The others also found it incredible.
“Is she not an intern?”
“It seems she is here for nursing training.”
“No way. Her movements just now were very professional.”
“Have you ever heard the saying that true experts are hidden among the common people?”
The group whispered among themselves.
Dr. Qin’s face turned dark. He had been at the hospital for several years, and this was the first time he had been slapped in the face by a little nurse, and in front of so many of his apprentices. This made him feel very annoyed and uncomfortable. This Ruan Qiu could never stay at the hospital!
Dr. Qin turned and walked out of the ward, heading straight for the director’s office.
After lunch, Nurse Yan came to notify Ruan Qiu, “Your training is over.”
It ended so quickly?
“Have I been accepted?”
Nurse Yan glanced at Ruan Qiu and sneered, “What are you thinking? You are unqualified, so your training is terminated early. It means you can go home.”
Ruan Qiu understood. She had been eliminated before she was even officially accepted. It appeared that someone was pulling strings behind the scenes. If it were a matter of her own capability, she would not ask further, but to be told she was unqualified halfway through required a clear explanation.
Ruan Qiu did not say anything more to Nurse Yan. Instead of changing her clothes, she headed straight for the director’s office. If she was leaving, she needed a definitive explanation as to why she was considered unqualified.
“Ruan Qiu, what are you doing?” When Nurse Yan saw Ruan Qiu heading to the director’s office, she realized the woman was going to complain and rushed to intercept her. “You are unqualified because of your own performance. Is going to the director useful? Or are you trying to have the director give you special treatment?”
Special treatment? Ruan Qiu found it laughable. She only wanted a job and fair treatment.
“I just want to clarify where I am unqualified, such that I am forced to quit before the training has even finished?”
“Unqualified means unqualified. Why do you have so many questions?” Nurse Yan was furious. She had never seen such a difficult trainee.
“You say I am unqualified, but you cannot point out where. It is hard for me not to suspect that you are intentionally targeting me. But I do not understand why you would target me when we have no grievances.” Ruan Qiu’s voice was calm, but it finally attracted the attention of others.
On both sides of the director’s office were offices for department heads and senior attending physicians.
“What is all the arguing about?” A middle-aged woman walked out from the neighboring office. She was around forty, wearing glasses, with a face full of wrinkles and an arrogant, haughty look in her murky eyes. Beside the woman was Tian Ruanruan.
“Sister-in-law, what is wrong?” Tian Ruanruan asked, confused.
“Director Tian, this trainee is unqualified. I told her to leave early, but she refuses and is trying to cause trouble here.” Nurse Yan said, playing the victim.
Director Tian looked at Ruan Qiu. This must be the illiterate rural woman Ruanruan mentioned who got in by relying on her military dependent status. As expected, she had no breeding.
“Little girl, the nursing profession is indeed difficult. If there is something you cannot do well, you can practice slowly. It is not like there is only one training session at our hospital. If you are unqualified this time, there is always next time.” Director Tian changed her tone, speaking quite gently.
Ruan Qiu’s expression remained unchanged, neither fearful nor intimidated. “I really want to know exactly where I am unqualified.”
“You, you are unqualified in every aspect.” Nurse Yan said, holding her head high.
“In every aspect? I just want to know one specific aspect so that I know what I need to improve.” Ruan Qiu insisted. She did not believe she had performed poorly.
Nurse Yan stammered for a long time before choking out, “You are too opinionated and do not listen to the doctors. As a nurse, not listening to the doctor is being unqualified.”
As expected, it was that Dr. Qin. Just because she had said those things, he had taken it to heart and labeled her unqualified.
“I understand. You mean that I should not have spoken up as a nurse, and that is my fault. But my words saved a person, so that is not a mistake!”
“You, a nurse must look like a nurse! Otherwise, would the hospital not be in chaos?”
“Exactly. The most important duty of a nurse is nursing care, listening to the attending physician, not acting on one’s own initiative and being opinionated.”
“What if the attending physician makes a mistake? Can I not even offer a reminder?”
Director Tian was stumped. There was no rigid rule against that.
Tian Ruanruan pulled Ruan Qiu aside and said to the woman, “Aunt, this is who I told you about. She is my older brother’s fiancée, a military dependent. She works efficiently, and her injection skills are excellent. I wanted you to take her as an apprentice.”
Ruan Qiu looked at Tian Ruanruan. Truly, this was a beautiful-hearted female lead who did not try to step on her, but instead wanted to help her find a teacher. It seemed this female lead was still worth saving.
“Doctor Tian, she is unqualified for the training and cannot be your apprentice.” Nurse Yan interjected first.
“I do not take on apprentices randomly.”
“And I do not acknowledge just anyone as my master.”
