- Divorcing Right After Enlisting? The Army Commander Hugs Her Waist and Coaxes His Little One
- Chapter 10 - How Could She Let This Opportunity for Self-Vindication Slip By?
Early in the morning, Ruan Qiu was thinking about looking for a new job when Sister Lian called for her to go to the hospital to visit Xiao Tao, the woman who had fallen and been injured previously.
Sister Lian was not close to the family, but because her husband was the Political Commissar, she felt she had to learn to show concern for the families of subordinates. She planned to go to the hospital to offer her support.
Ruan Qiu accompanied Sister Lian to the hospital. They entered the inpatient department and reached Xiao Tao’s ward.
Several people were standing at the ward entrance, including the woman’s mother-in-law and her husband.
“Sister-in-law, why are you here?”
Chen Ji saw Sister Lian and hurried over to greet her. He took the items from Sister Lian’s hands, looking embarrassed. “Xiao Tao has not been moved out of the intensive care unit yet, and the doctors are not allowing visitors.”
Sister Lian waved her hand. “I just came to take a look. As long as she is fine, that is what matters. As long as she is fine.”
Chen Ji glanced at Ruan Qiu and recognized her as the Battalion Commander’s wife who had made the correct judgment on the day his wife had the accident. He hurriedly called out, “Sister-in-law, thank you so much for that day. If not for you, Xiao Tao might not have survived. I was just saying I would go to the Battalion Commander’s house to thank you. I apologize for making you run all this way.”
“I am just accompanying Sister Lian.”
Ruan Qiu could not arrive empty-handed, so she handed the gifts she brought to Chen Ji.
Just as they were talking, Nurse Yan walked over, pulling a long face and scolding, “Ruan Qiu, didn’t I tell you? Your training is not up to standard, so there is no point in coming here. The hospital will not hire you.”
She really was a country bumpkin, only knowing how to pester people. Thinking that she could be hired through a special exception was simply delusional.
Ruan Qiu smiled calmly. “I am here to visit a patient, not to ask for a job.”
Nurse Yan curled her lips. “That is for the best. A person should have some self-awareness.”
Sister Lian did not like the sound of that. She grabbed the nurse and asked, “What do you mean by that? In what way is Ruan Qiu not up to standard?”
Nurse Yan shook off Sister Lian. “What? Are you going to bring family members to make a scene just because we did not hire you? Let me tell you, Ruan Qiu, this is a hospital, not your rural village. Leave now and do not delay our work!”
Sister Lian finally understood; Ruan Qiu was clearly being targeted.
“So this is how you select personnel, is it? I will go find your leadership and reflect on this. I want to see how you people do your jobs. You have someone with ability but choose not to use her; what kind of training is this?” Sister Lian said, turning to go find the leadership.
Nurse Yan stretched out her arm to block Sister Lian and looked at Ruan Qiu. “If you let your family member make a scene here, you will never be able to work here. It does not matter if your husband is a Battalion Commander; even if he were a Regiment Commander, it would not work.”
Ruan Qiu had originally wanted to avoid trouble, but after hearing Nurse Yan’s arrogance, she no longer wanted to endure it. She pointed to Sister Lian and said, “She is the wife of the Military Region Political Commissar. She can speak directly to your Dean. Are you trying to block her?”
Nurse Yan looked at Sister Lian with suspicion.
The argument between the two attracted onlookers, as well as Director Tan and the attending physician.
“What is going on?” Director Tan asked.
“Director Tan, I am the one who wants to ask you that. What is going on? Everyone has seen Ruan Qiu’s ability. If not for her judgment of Xiao Tao’s injuries, would you have been able to operate so quickly and save Xiao Tao’s life? With someone like this, your hospital actually deemed her unqualified?”
“Ah, it is Old Lu’s wife!” Director Tan immediately beamed with a smile. “I am currently handling this matter, and I have already notified the hospital administration that we must keep this young comrade, Ruan Qiu.”
What?
Nurse Yan was stunned and stood rooted to the spot.
“Director Tan, the Battalion Commander’s wife is truly very skilled. My wife’s injury assessment was provided by her,” Chen Ji added from the side.
Director Tan said “Oh,” and turned to look at Qin Ke, who was following behind him.
When Dr. Qin saw Ruan Qiu, he knew trouble was brewing. He had not expected it to be exposed so quickly.
“Director, it is like this.”
At this moment, if he insisted that the judgment was his, it would likely make things worse. He only felt very unhappy; this Ruan Qiu was truly like a ghost that could not be shaken off.
Director Tan chuckled as he walked past everyone, took Ruan Qiu’s hand, and said solemnly, “Comrade Ruan Qiu, I told those around me yesterday that you are no simple young comrade! Training or no training, your ability simply does not require training. I have decided to promote you to an official nursing staff member of the hospital as an exception.”
He was granting Ruan Qiu a permanent position.
Ruan Qiu glanced at Dr. Qin.
Nursing was not her ultimate goal; her goal was to be an emergency department doctor and push out people like him, who lacked both ability and professional integrity.
“Thank you, Director Tan.”
“Director, this is not according to the rules!” Nurse Yan jumped out to object.
Director Tan frowned, his face stern as he scolded, “How is it not according to the rules? Giving a chance to someone with ability, that is the rule!”
“But what about Director Tian.”
“Tell Director Tian to come see me!” After Director Tan said this, he turned to Ruan Qiu. “You can officially start your post today, and your salary and subsidies will be issued according to the standards of a regular employee. Nurse Yan, have her follow you, and also, assign her to the day shift.”
Director Tan, mindful of the fact that Ruan Qiu was a military dependent, gave a few extra instructions.
“Understood, Director.” Nurse Yan responded reluctantly, giving Ruan Qiu a fierce glare.
Ruan Qiu gave Nurse Yan a look of disdain.
She had originally wanted to refuse, but now it seemed she should accept the offer while the situation was favorable. Since others would not let her have a pleasant time, then no one should be comfortable.
She stayed not because she had nowhere else to go, but because she wanted to use her own methods to slap the faces of these people who looked down on others.
Now that Ruan Qiu was officially hired, Sister Lian was the happiest.
“Xiao Qiu, I told you that you have the ability.”
Ruan Qiu smiled. “Thank you, Sister Lian.”
Chen Ji also offered his congratulations. “Sister-in-law, I will leave the care of my Xiao Tao to you in the future.”
Ruan Qiu smiled, then glanced at Chen Ji’s mother, who had been guarding the door of the ward the whole time.
She seemed a bit nervous, her expression tight, and she frequently clasped her hands together, muttering something under her breath. But it was certainly not a prayer for her daughter-in-law to recover.
As an outsider, she could not say much without knowing the full situation.
With her position secured, Ruan Qiu returned home to prepare a few dishes to celebrate.
Zhou Yishen was slightly surprised to see two small dishes and a soup on the table.
“This is.”
“I was promoted to an official position today.”
Zhou Yishen looked at Ruan Qiu in surprise; he had not expected her to be so capable.
In less than two days, she had secured a permanent position.
Ruan Qiu smiled. “I owe this promotion today to Sister Lian.”
Ruan Qiu briefly recounted what had happened at the hospital. She did not feel wronged at all; instead, she felt the joy of victory.
In her past life, although her profession had no negative reviews, it lacked popularity.
In this life, entering the hospital, she would naturally meet all kinds of people, but she, Ruan Qiu, was not someone to be bullied easily.
Zhou Yishen had not expected Ruan Qiu to encounter such a situation. She had solved everything on her own without saying a word to him. Would this make him, as a man, seem quite useless?
Zhou Yishen looked at Ruan Qiu and asked after a long pause:
“When you were wronged, why did you not tell me?”
