Did That A Get His Wife Back Today? - Chapter 3
Ji Yunshu brushed off Liu Wuyi’s hand, opened the door to her home, and walked straight to the sofa. She didn’t close the door, but neither did she make any move to drive Liu Wuyi away.
However, Liu Wuyi, who was usually quick to seize any opportunity only noticed the empty inhibitor vials and scent-blocking sprays scattered across the floor. When she looked up at Ji Yunshu again, she saw the woman holding a new inhibitor in her hand.
It seemed the reason she had risked going downstairs to buy inhibitors was that none of the ones she had injected had worked, and she had only dared to leave after spraying herself heavily with scent-blockers.
Even though Ji Yunshu had taken strong precautions, Liu Wuyi still felt a chill run down her spine. Overdosing on inhibitors could directly damage an Omega’s glands.
“Ah Yun, don’t!”
Seeing Ji Yunshu about to inject herself again, Liu Wuyi quickly reached out to stop her. “You’ll ruin your health injecting so many inhibitors.”
Their hands lightly touched, and the heat of Ji Yunshu’s fever made even the slight coolness of Liu Wuyi’s skin unbearable. The small inhibitor vial slipped from her grasp and rolled under the sofa.
“I can help her!” The thought suddenly seized Liu Wuyi’s mind, making her heartbeat uncontrollably quicken. In the quiet of the night, she could almost hear the pounding of her own heart.
I can’t do this. She’s not in her right mind right now, controlled by her heat. If I take advantage of her, she’ll hate me even more. No, I can’t do this. Liu Wuyi wrestled with herself internally.
They were standing so close that their scorching breaths intertwined in the air.
It must be because the air conditioning isn’t on in this room. Otherwise, why would my body feel so unbearably hot? Liu Wuyi thought.
Ji Yunshu was struggling desperately, tiny beads of sweat forming on her forehead. The urge to tear off the clothes constricting her was overwhelming.
Giving up on retrieving the inhibitor, Ji Yunshu turned and walked back to her room.
Seeing Liu Wuyi still frozen in place, Ji Yunshu leaned against the wall as she returned, her brows tightly furrowed. Instinctively, she wanted to gesture to Liu Wuyi, but remembering the woman didn’t understand sign language, she picked up her phone instead. With trembling hands, she typed out a message:
“What are you standing there for? If you’re not here to help me, then get out.”
Once Liu Wuyi read it, Ji Yunshu grabbed her sleeve and pulled her into the dark room, immediately tossing the phone aside before collapsing onto the bed.
She wants me to help her. The realization exploded in Liu Wuyi’s mind, echoing relentlessly. Caught off guard, she was yanked onto the bed, and Ji Yunshu tore off the tightly sealed scent-blocking patch on Liu Wuyi’s neck.
The fragrance of champagne roses instantly flooded every corner of the room, enveloping Ji Yunshu entirely and sending shivers through her body.
Watching Ji Yunshu’s dazed expression, Liu Wuyi lost all restraint. Instinctively, she raised her slender, well-defined hand to cover Ji Yunshu’s eyes before tentatively pressing her lips against the other woman’s. When Ji Yunshu didn’t resist, Liu Wuyi grew bolder, deepening the kiss.
The entwined pheromones in the room reached such a high concentration that the air purifier kicked in with a loud whirring noise.
The Alpha’s presence was overwhelmingly aggressive, the relentless pheromones stimulating Ji Yunshu’s glands, frightening her into instinctively retreating backward. But Liu Wuyi gave her no chance to catch her breath. Releasing the hand that had been covering Ji Yunshu’s eyes, she pressed forward step by step, instead gripping her neck and pulling her closer, kissing her even deeper.
Ji Yunshu weakly rested her hand beside Liu Wuyi’s head, the bracelet on her wrist occasionally clinking against the metal accessories on Liu Wuyi’s ears as their bodies swayed. The incessant jingling only added to Ji Yunshu’s irritation. Pushing away the eager Liu Wuyi, she groped for her phone nearby and typed: “Take off those earrings of yours. They’re annoying.”
Liu Wuyi froze for a couple of seconds before realizing what Ji Yunshu meant by “earrings.” Softly, she soothed the Omega, who was still suffering from the heat and in a bit of a temper: “Sweetheart, those can’t be taken off. Just bear with it for now, okay?”
At this moment, Ji Yunshu only felt unbearably hot, while Liu Wuyi’s body was cool. In her haze, she only wanted to press closer to absorb more of that soothing chill, no longer caring about those damned earrings. Instead, she wrapped her arms tightly around Liu Wuyi, as if trying to meld their bodies together.
Two heartbeats, finally in sync, merged into one at this moment.
The night was truly long. Their pheromones entwined like a pair of star-crossed lovers, pulling at each other yet unable to let go tangled, messy, impossible to sever or sort out.
The room was thick with an ambiguous atmosphere. In the end, the two concluded with a temporary mark, both drenched in sweat.
Early the next morning, Liu Wuyi woke up refreshed, without a trace of exhaustion from staying up all night. Instead, she was radiant. Last night had been the best sleep she’d had in five years no insomnia, no sudden awakenings, and none of the emptiness upon waking.
She turned her head to look at Ji Yunshu, peacefully asleep in her arms, lips slightly parted and marked with bite traces, looking utterly indecent. Lowering her gaze, she saw bruises everywhere the blanket didn’t cover.
“Ah Yun,” Liu Wuyi called softly.
No response.
Well, if that’s the case, stealing a kiss probably won’t be noticed.
Thinking this, she acted on it, carefully leaning down but just as she was about to touch Ji Yunshu’s lips, the latter suddenly opened her eyes, staring straight at her, not at all like someone who had just woken up.
“Ah Yun, you’re awake!”
Liu Wuyi had hoped to enjoy some tender moments afterward maybe even reconcile. But then Ji Yunshu kicked her straight off the bed with no small amount of force.
“Sweetheart, you’re just going to toss me aside after using me?” Liu Wuyi rubbed her aching waist, grimacing in complaint.
“Miss Liu, I don’t believe our relationship has reached the point where kissing is appropriate,” Ji Yunshu typed quickly on her phone and held it up.
“But last night.”
“Name your price, Miss Liu.” Before Liu Wuyi could finish, Ji Yunshu typed and shoved the words in her face.
“What do you take me for? Between us.”
Ji Yunshu first let out a derisive laugh, then tapped away on her phone for a while. “What kind of relationship could we possibly have? Don’t tell me you still love me? You were the one who said you wanted to help me. If it weren’t you, I could’ve found someone else. Now that you’ve already helped, what’s with this attitude? Or is Miss Liu worried her price is too high, afraid I can’t afford the fee? I’m not so poor that I can’t cover such a small amount.”
I’m just the same as anyone else to you?
The hidden hope deep in Liu Wuyi’s eyes was completely buried at that moment. Even the hand that had been nervously clutching the hem of her shirt in anticipation of stealing a kiss now fell limply to her side.
“I…” An inexplicable sense of grievance welled up in Liu Wuyi’s chest. She opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but after uttering just one word, she closed it again, afraid she might break down in tears in front of Ji Yunshu. She still had some pride left.
“What are you upset about? Shouldn’t I be the one who’s upset?” The haze of passion had completely faded, and Ji Yunshu had returned to her usual detached demeanor. Seeing the tears brimming in Liu Wuyi’s eyes, she frowned, as if puzzled or perhaps annoyed. She picked up her phone from the bedside, typed out a message, and held it up for Liu Wuyi to see.
Liu Wuyi read the words on the screen and lowered her head. Tears blurred her vision, yet she could still clearly see the complete indifference in Ji Yunshu’s eyes. The small flame that had just ignited in her heart was on the verge of being snuffed out, and a bitter taste filled her mouth.
After so many years apart, she actually had a lot she wanted to say to Ji Yunshu. But now, it felt as though someone had gripped her throat, she didn’t know where to start or how to say any of it. In the end, all she managed was a single “I’m sorry.”
Ji Yunshu laughed again, light and effortless, as if untouched by her apology, her tears, or even her presence.
Ji Yunshu was truly beautiful, with bright eyes and pearly teeth. Once, Liu Wuyi had loved nothing more than seeing her smile. But now, that smile felt like mockery mocking her overestimation of herself, mocking her shamelessness.
“Ah Yun, do you resent me a little?” Liu Wuyi finally voiced the question she had most wanted to ask since their reunion, her tone still choked with emotion.
“Resent you?” Ji Yunshu didn’t answer her. Instead, she silently asked herself the same question. She, too, wanted to know the answer.
There was a time when she had genuinely adored Liu Wuyiso much so that she was willing to abandon her original plans and follow her through the ups and downs of the entertainment industry, managing the studio, handling every little thing just to stay by her side. But even the strongest feelings couldn’t withstand outside interference.
Remembering the humiliation and pain of the past, she would never allow herself to fall into that trap again. Because in the end, the only one who got hurt was herself.
Ji Yunshu dressed and walked straight to the door, opening it and raising an eyebrow to signal for Liu Wuyi to leave. The motion was swift and decisive. Knowing she couldn’t stay any longer, Liu Wuyi put on her already wrinkled clothes and slunk out, dejected.
“Jiang Lehan, I’ve sent you the address. Come pick me up. I didn’t drive.” Without waiting for a response from the other end of the line, Liu Wuyi hung up and crouched pitifully outside Ji Yunshu’s door.
Before long, the door behind her opened again. Seeing Liu Wuyi still huddled outside her home, Ji Yunshu was visibly taken aback.
“Why are you still at my doorstep? I’ve already said such harsh words, yet you still come crawling back. Don’t you have any self-respect?” Ji Yunshu was already frustrated by her renewed entanglement with Liu Wuyi, and seeing her again when she opened the door only fueled her anger. She didn’t hesitate to deliver this hurtful remark.
“No, it’s not like that. I had my driver take my car away yesterday. I’m just waiting for someone to pick me up now. I’ll be leaving soon, I won’t keep bothering you.” The last sentence was spoken in an extremely soft voice by Liu Wuyi, who looked utterly dejected.
Her words were half-truths. It was true that she was waiting for someone, but the part about not bothering Ji Yunshu was a lie. However, Liu Wuyi didn’t dare say that to Ji Yunshu’s face otherwise, she’d likely be chased out of sight immediately.
“Liu Wuyi…” A voice called from behind.
“Ah, over here!” Hearing the familiar voice, Liu Wuyi turned around and waved at the newcomer, her tone brimming with surprise. “Why are you the one picking me up?!”
“Oh, right you two probably haven’t seen each other in a long time. Do you want to?”
