Did My Wife Break Up With Me Today? - Chapter 69
Chapter 69: “Is This Okay Too?”
Spring in Kun City was Chen Kongqing’s favorite season of the year.
During this time, the city’s green belts and old walls would be draped with tender yellow winter jasmine, and young green leaves would take on a golden glow under the spring sun. When night fell, an occasional breeze would carry a faint floral scent. It wasn’t cold; it was the perfect, comfortable temperature for a spring night.
Chen Kongqing had just opened the window for ventilation and hadn’t closed it yet. The small window hung high, directly in front of the single-seater sofa. A night breeze wafted in, brushing against Chen Kongqing’s exposed belly.
The harsh winter had passed, and he had already started leaving several pots of flowers on the balcony overnight. But for some reason, the wind felt cold right now. The rabbit, having turned into a puddle of water, stretched his paws, forced to reveal his belly. The soft, pale skin there was particularly sensitive, and he couldn’t help but shiver as the breeze hit him.
The rabbit’s lips were also very red—it was hard to tell if he had bitten them himself or if they had been reddened by something else. His light brown knit sweater was pushed up high, creating a sharp visual contrast with the snow-white skin beneath.
Between that white expanse, the two pink points had been pinched to a deeper shade—and it seemed they had been more than just pinched. The two tips rose in slight arcs, like small hillocks. The tips were moist and glistening, reflecting the light with traces of fluid.
The rabbit had been clutching the sofa fabric at first, but later, as if he couldn’t hold himself up any longer, he closed his eyes and blindly grabbed the large hand that was wandering everywhere.
The large hand finally stopped. At the same moment, his earlobe was lightly licked.
Xu Jingmo narrowed his phoenix eyes. “What’s wrong?”
The rabbit in his arms was now in a “liquid state,” with a trace of glistening moisture at the corner of his mouth. “Mm…”
Chen Kongqing felt a bit overwhelmed, his mind hazy. As he calmed down, a flicker of clarity returned to his eyes. “This… this is probably hard for you to manage like this. How about you put me down, and I’ll be… on the bottom…”
Several heavy breaths rasped in his ear. Xu Jingmo pressed his face against the boy’s cheek from behind. “Why are you so good?”
That certain spot was pinched again. The rabbit frowned and stretched his neck, but he didn’t resist.
“Is this okay too?” Xu Jingmo whispered.
“It… it’s okay,” Chen Kongqing answered, his breathing unstable. “Are you still angry?”
“A little, Qingqing,” Xu Jingmo said, swirling his tongue into the boy’s mouth again. Their lips and teeth met with a sticky, wet sound.
The rabbit was sure he was running out of strength; even tilting his head to kiss Xu Jingmo was becoming difficult. It was at this moment that his thigh felt a block of heat.
Chen Kongqing didn’t dare move. He gripped the man’s arm, his strength alternating between loose and tight. Finally, half a minute later, his lips were released.
The rabbit was pink all over, the flush on his cheeks even more prominent, looking like a “braised rabbit” dish. “You… that…”
“Don’t worry about it.” Xu Jingmo knew immediately what he was asking. He didn’t kiss him again, but instead slowly pulled down the messy knit sweater. “Are you cold?”
Chen Kongqing felt like he was soaking in a vat of hot wine. Cold? It was impossible to be cold; he was practically burning up. He shook his head.
The two suddenly fell into a pool of silence. Although Xu Jingmo said not to worry about it… with that thing pressing against him, how could he possibly ignore it?
Chen Kongqing bit his lip. He felt that if this continued, he would also…
“I’ll help you…” Chen Kongqing didn’t know how he managed to say it. He just remembered that when he was having an episode before, Xu Jingmo had helped him. And back then… they weren’t even dating, yet Xu Jingmo had been willing to help.
He added in a small voice, “What do you want to use? If you use your mouth, I’m afraid I’ll scratch… I’ve never done this before…”
The arms around him seemed to freeze, losing their strength. Chen Kongqing slid off the man’s lap. His legs were soft and weak, so he naturally crouched down. His pale, slender hand reached tentatively toward Xu Jingmo’s trousers, slowly moving forward.
Suddenly, his fingers were caught. Then, he was led by the hand and pulled up into an embrace.
Xu Jingmo pulled him back into his arms, his voice still a bit hoarse. “I don’t need you to do these things for me.”
“But don’t you do them for me?” Chen Kongqing looked up, blinking. “I can do them for you too.”
“No need.” Xu Jingmo kissed him again, this time just a light press against his forehead. “Never.”
Chen Kongqing listened, looking into those deepening phoenix eyes. They were so perfect, they looked as if they had been carved from a mold. Suddenly, Ling Xiao’s words echoed in his ears: “Is it because of his eyes?”
Was he really only with Xu Jingmo because of those eyes? If that were true, wouldn’t it be too unfair to Xu Jingmo?
Chen Kongqing couldn’t stand himself like this. He buried his face in the man’s chest. “Xu Jingmo, you should be a bit meaner to me.”
The man’s palm stroked the back of his head. “Is it really… because of my eyes?”
“I… I don’t know.” Chen Kongqing bit his lip, not intending to lie. He exhaled into the man’s chest. “Maybe that’s part of the reason, but… it’s definitely not the only reason. There are many things about you that I like.”
As he explained, he felt like he wasn’t being clear enough, fearing it would sound like he only liked other parts of his body besides the eyes… but that wasn’t what he meant. Chen Kongqing became a bit incoherent. “I don’t mean that…”
“I know, Qingqing,” Xu Jingmo soothed him, though dark undercurrents were swirling in his deep phoenix eyes. “I understand. I’m not angry anymore, but you have to promise me one thing.”
Chen Kongqing wrapped his arms around the man’s shoulders. “What?”
Xu Jingmo’s fingers lingered in the boy’s hair. “Don’t meet Ling Xiao alone again. If he harasses you again, tell me immediately.”
Chen Kongqing nodded, his head moving against the man’s chest. “Okay.”
“I’m not finished.” The dark undercurrent in the man’s eyes didn’t recede; it became even more turbulent. Finally, a hint of what lay beneath was revealed: an overwhelming possessiveness. “From now on, only like me.”
“Mm.” The rabbit in his arms was very obedient, nodding as he leaned against him.
In such a quiet, lingering moment, both tacitly agreed not to stop. Chen Kongqing had been dazed by the kissing, and being held like this, he soon drifted off. Later, it felt like he was carried to bed, a warm towel was wiped gently across his face, and then… he lost consciousness, sinking deep into a series of dreams.
…
Xu Jingmo didn’t stay overnight at Chen Kongqing’s rental. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to; he simply doubted his own self-control.
On the way back, the darkness in his eyes hadn’t fully dissipated. Even now, his palms seemed to retain the faint herbal scent of Chen Kongqing’s skin. He could recall every detail of that smooth, soft touch. But the burning possessiveness showed no sign of dying out.
It wasn’t enough. Not nearly enough.
“You’re saying… you’re currently acting as someone’s substitute?” Zhou Mujun was glad he hadn’t gone to bed early, otherwise, he would have charged this guy who suddenly burst into his apartment with trespassing.
“Mm.” Xu Jingmo pursed his lips, standing by the apartment’s glass window. The apartment Zhou Mujun had bought was a river-view unit, and the night scenery was quite beautiful. Xu Jingmo looked out over the glittering river, but his eyes showed no emotion. “I think I have a psychological problem too.”
“How so?” Zhou Mujun rubbed his chin. “Let Dr. Zhou here treat you.”
“I’ve been thinking about how to make this relationship stable. But he hasn’t graduated yet, so I can’t take him abroad to get registered. And even if we did, it wouldn’t be recognized domestically,” Xu Jingmo said in a very calm voice, speaking of his distorted desires.
He was being understated. In truth, he wanted to take Chen Kongqing to a place where only he existed. A place where Chen Kongqing could only see him, only talk to him, only eat with him, and only share a bed with him. He never wanted to be apart from Chen Kongqing again, never wanted to give anyone else a chance.
“Whoa, he’s just a junior in college, man,” Zhou Mujun walked over and offered him a cigarette. “Is it because you stole or ‘dug out’ this relationship that you’re so insecure?”
Xu Jingmo didn’t take the cigarette and shook his head.
Zhou Mujun kept the cigarette in his mouth, speaking somewhat indistinctly. “Not smoking again?”
Xu Jingmo: “He doesn’t let me.”
“Tsk, ‘He doesn’t let me~'” Zhou Mujun imitated him mockingly, then curled his lip. “Seriously though, isn’t that little student trying his best to give you security? It’s probably because your ‘position’ isn’t quite right, and you’ve got a guilty conscience. Just stop being so guilty.”
Guilty conscience. He did have one, didn’t he?
He couldn’t say he had been completely upright in every step he took toward Chen Kongqing. In fact, he had calculated countless moves along this path.
“That expression… I hit the nail on the head, didn’t I?” Zhou Mujun blew a smoke ring and laughed.
Xu Jingmo clenched his jaw. “But I don’t regret it.”
He would never regret it. If he had to do it all over again, he would only be even more unscrupulous.
…
Chen Kongqing thought the whole thing was over. The only lingering effect was that his chest ached for several days; whatever he wore would rub against it. Every time it hurt, he would grimace with a red face.
Until another weekend, when he and Xu Jingmo went out on a date. Everything was normal at first, no different from their previous dates. After they finished dinner, Xu Jingmo went to a convenience store to buy him a drink while Chen Kongqing waited obediently in the car.
When Xu Jingmo got back in, he handed him the bag with the drink. Chen Kongqing rummaged through the bag. “It’s the jasmine flavor I like…”
Falling into his line of sight along with the jasmine drink was a box of condoms in classic packaging.
Chen Kongqing froze instantly, his hand stuck in the bag. It didn’t feel right to take it out, but it felt even worse to leave it in. His ears turned beet red in an instant.
Xu Jingmo seemed to have let him see it on purpose, so he spoke in an unhurried tone:
“Your place or mine?”
