- Chasing My Husband! The "Crown Prince" of the Beijing Circle Is Wildly Unruly!
- Chapter 10 - The Crown Prince Sets a Price in His Heart
A light blush tinged Wang Xinghe’s cheeks. He tried to avoid Lu Jingze’s direct and intense gaze.
Lu Jingze lightly moved his stool closer, getting even nearer to him.
Inside the store with its light modern Chinese aesthetic, they sat together in their matching red sweaters. Lu Jingze’s eyebrows and eyes were filled with contentment.
They toasted each other, watching the Spring Festival Gala on the TV.
Unknowingly, their lonely hearts drew a little closer.
“Aze, how about I take you around Qingcheng tomorrow? We can feed the seagulls, walk along the Zhanqiao Pier, and then I’ll take you to Signal Hill.” Wang Xinghe looked at his hand, which was being held by Lu Jingze.
He had made up his mind. He had no intention of ever getting married. If Lu Jingze was willing, perhaps there was nothing wrong with just being with him. Besides, he was older than him. He couldn’t just let a kid bear all the responsibility.
Lu Jingze’s hand tightened slightly. He gently rested his head on the top of Wang Xinghe’s hair. “I’ll listen to my boyfriend.”
“From now on, if my boyfriend tells me to go east, I’ll never go west.”
Wang Xinghe looked at the smiling man in front of him, and his heart couldn’t help but stir.
His face was indeed handsome—up close and from a distance. It was even more so when he was saying sweet nothings.
Buzz… buzz… buzz… The twelve o’clock bell rang.
Wang Xinghe put down his glass, grabbed Lu Jingze’s collar, and tentatively kissed him first.
It was a cool kiss, smelling of Qingdao beer.
It made Lu Jingze’s smile freeze for a moment.
His words had always held little sincerity.
But with Wang Xinghe taking the initiative to kiss him, a feeling of guilt arose from a deep, dark corner of his heart.
He could casually crush other people’s sincerity. He could question their motives.
But the man in front of him had no idea who he was.
He was just simply in love with him.
Lu Jingze calculated in his mind, add another fifty million.
He would give him another fifty million then.
It should be enough to compensate him for everything.
He could live comfortably for several lifetimes in this place with its ridiculously low prices.
With the price set, Lu Jingze felt at ease as he kissed back, fiercely and passionately.
He couldn’t hold back and directly pulled Wang Xinghe onto his lap, holding him tightly.
Wang Xinghe looked up at the pair of phoenix eyes filled with desire and a possessive fire. He quirked an eyebrow, annoyed.
“Even with amnesia, you’re this domineering. I can’t imagine what kind of tyrant you’d be if you hadn’t lost your memory.”
Lu Jingze’s thin lips curved into a smile, with a hint of wildness. “Maybe I really am a tyrant. It’s hard to say.”
Wang Xinghe was a little tired and leaned his head on Lu Jingze’s chest. “Okay, Tyrant Lu.”
Lu Jingze chuckled. “Then what are you? Concubine Wang Yu?”
Wang Xinghe gave him a helpless look and pushed him. “I’m me, not Concubine Yu.”
Outside, the fireworks continued to explode.
“Wah ha ha ha—”
Even the laughter of the children could be heard clearly.
Bang, bang, bang— Someone was knocking on the rolling shutter.
Wang Xinghe was startled and jumped down from Lu Jingze’s lap.
“Uncle, open the door!”
“I know you’re home! Don’t hide inside!”
His little niece Wang Shuya’s voice came through.
Lu Jingze let out a sound of annoyance. “Your little niece.”
Wang Xinghe gave him a warning look, and Lu Jingze lazily leaned back.
Whoosh— The rolling shutter was pushed up.
A little girl in a black down jacket darted in.
“Happy New Year, Uncle~ All the best, and get your lucky red envelope~” Wang Shuya put the red bag filled with candies and melon seeds on the table and held out her hand.
Wang Xinghe had already prepared. He took out two red envelopes from the cash register drawer by the door.
“Here. Happy New Year. Try to get into a 985 or 211 university next year.” The red envelope didn’t have much, only 200 yuan. Any more, and his cousin and sister-in-law would lecture him.
He handed the other one to Lu Jingze behind him. “And you, kid, happy New Year.”
Lu Jingze accepted it with a smile. “Then in the new year, I wish you get out of being single and win every gamble.”
“Wow! Brother Lu, you’re here too! Wow! Happy New Year, Brother Lu! Hehe~ Wow! Your New Year’s Eve dinner is so rich!”
“Wow! Uncle, I want to eat too!”
Wang Shuya looked at the handsome Lu Jingze with a little shyness.
Lu Jingze gave Wang Xinghe a look for help.
Wang Xinghe naturally turned his head away, pretending he didn’t see anything. A smile curled up at the corner of his mouth as he turned.
“I’ll go heat up the food. You guys can chat.”
Lu Jingze gave him a resentful look.
Wang Shuya took out her phone, excited. “Brother, let’s exchange contact information~ You must play ‘King of Glory’ or ‘PUBG,’ right?”
Wang Shuya’s face was red from the cold, and she looked at him with pleading eyes.
In the kitchen, Wang Xinghe had already turned on the range hood.
Lu Jingze’s eyes shifted. “I can play ‘PUBG,’ but I don’t have a phone. I have to use your uncle’s.”
Wang Shuya made an OK gesture, ran into the kitchen, and pleaded with Wang Xinghe. “Uncle~ Can I borrow your phone? Please, Uncle~”
Wang Xinghe sighed helplessly, took his phone out of his pocket, unlocked it, and handed it to her.
Wang Shuya handed Wang Xinghe’s phone to Lu Jingze.
Lu Jingze raised an eyebrow, looking at the little girl in front of him with appreciation. “Not bad.”
“Your uncle doesn’t have any games on his phone. I’ll download one now.” Lu Jingze started the download.
He didn’t mean to snoop, but a message suddenly popped up on WeChat.
[Classmate Zhao Yan: Happy New Year, Xinghe. I’m landing back in the country on the ninth. Let’s meet up.]
Lu Jingze’s eyebrows quirked slightly. He opened Zhao Yan’s profile picture. It was a man wearing glasses and a white shirt, with a scholarly aura.
He opened the chat window. The messages were either birthday wishes every October or New Year’s wishes every year. There was nothing else.
Lu Jingze then opened Zhao Yan’s “Moments” feed.
They were all photos of him reading, drinking coffee, and scenery shots taken by others.
He looked very clean, elegant, and fresh.
Lu Jingze sensitively noticed that none of these posts had any likes.
If he was a former classmate, how could they not have a single mutual friend?
Given how Wang Xinghe’s looks attracted so many people, it was impossible that no one had added him as a friend.
That left only one conclusion.
This guy, Zhao Yan, had only made his Moments visible to Wang Xinghe.
Damn it.
What a scheming dog.
Lu Jingze narrowed his eyes. He marked the message as unread and was about to exit WeChat when he saw Wang Xinghe’s pinned chat at the top.
It was [Sister].
The last message was from four years ago.
It was from Wang Xinghe.
[Wang Xinghe: Sister, I’m the one who should have died. From now on, don’t worry about me.]
It had been four years, and no one had replied to him.
Lu Jingze’s phoenix eyes narrowed slightly. He sensed something was wrong.
He looked at the game that was still downloading, then his gaze moved to Wang Xinghe, who was reheating the food.
He leaned close to Wang Shuya and whispered, “Your uncle…”
After realizing he was a little too invested in Wang Xinghe, Lu Jingze abruptly stopped.
Wang Shuya raised her innocent big eyes, looking at him shyly. “Brother Lu, what about my uncle?”
Lu Jingze’s tone shifted, and he smiled. “Nothing. I just wanted to ask, has your uncle always been this handsome since he was a kid?”
