- Billionaire’s Journey into the Beast World, Suitors Compete to Be Fed by Her!
- Chapter 28 - Lord Xing Chi of Blue Rank
The male who stepped out bore a striking resemblance to Xiu Ka, sharing about fifty percent of his features, though his stature was more imposing and his demeanor exuded greater composure.
His eyes, like Xiu Ka’s, were brown, but his hair was a distinct cyan, a clear indicator of his cyan-ranked strength.
Mi Yue was trying to gauge the relationship between Xiu Ka and this male when Xing Chi, standing beside her, volunteered the answer.
“That male shares blood ties with Xiu Ka, most likely a father-son relationship.”
His gaze lingered on Xiu Ka with a hint of amusement, particularly noting his golden hair. “I never expected him to have a cyan-ranked father.”
Mi Yue frowned in confusion. “I thought only cyan-ranked individuals could enter the city. What about those two gatekeepers?”
“They’re beast servants, naturally, the rules don’t apply to them.”
“Beast servants?”
Xing Chi toyed with Mi Yue’s ink-black hair, his voice soft. “Within the city walls, as long as you have sufficient strength and crystal beads, you can purchase beast servants and enjoy their service.”
Mi Yue was taken aback. A single city wall divided two entirely different worlds, not just in terms of resources but also in the stark disparity of status.
As the two approached them, Mi Yue promptly fell silent.
“My name is Bu Tai, and this is my mate, Ma Ya.”
“Might I ask, my lord, if you’ve come seeking me?” The male who resembled Xiu Ka spoke with humble deference, his expression amiable.
Bu Tai’s respectful attitude stunned Mi Yue. Only now did she realize just how formidable Xing Chi’s blue-ranked strength was.
Red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, blue, purple… blue was second only to the pinnacle purple rank.
“I am Xing Chi. It’s them who are looking for you. I’m just here for the show.”
Xing Chi remained indifferent, clearly accustomed to such deference from Bu Tai.
“Them?” Bu Tai turned in confusion, only then noticing the disheveled grandfather and grandson at the entrance.
Wu Er’s clouded eyes fixed on the petite female clad in silk, his voice trembling. “Ma Ya.”
The female named Ma Ya looked startled, then glanced at her mate before saying, “Whatever it is, let’s discuss it inside.”
Hearing his daughter invite him in, Wu Er’s face lit up with a smile. “Good, good. Let’s talk inside.”
Ma Ya hurriedly ushered the flustered Wu Er and Xiu Ka into the house, as though afraid others might discover she had yellow-ranked relatives.
Bu Tai remained courteous, bowing slightly. “Lord Xing Chi, please come inside and rest.”
Xing Chi gave a slight nod. “Mm. Lead the way.”
With that, Mi Yue followed the bigshot, head held high, into the stone house.
The interior was spacious, resembling a traditional two-courtyard compound with numerous clean, well-kept rooms, a far cry from the dilapidated conditions of the tribe.
They found themselves in a room akin to a living area, furnished with stools made from tree stumps.
No sooner had they sat down than a beast servant entered, carrying a platter of fresh fruit, which he placed beside Xing Chi.
“Lord Xing Chi, these are the freshest fruits from the market. Please enjoy. If they’re not to your liking, I’ll have them replaced.”
Xing Chi picked up a fruit and handed it to Mi Yue before waving dismissively. “Handle your business. Don’t mind me.”
Only then did Bu Tai shift his attention to the male in the room who resembled him, his gaze scrutinizing and devoid of any warmth.
Observing from the side, Mi Yue sensed trouble brewing. She discreetly checked Xiu Ka’s background information.
【Xiu Ka, male of the Tiger Tribe. Father: Bu Tai. Mother: Ma Ya. Place of birth: Tiger City】
【Diagnosed at birth with low potential, capped at Green rank at best, he was abandoned by his parents. Later, his grandfather Wu Er couldn’t bear to leave him and took him back to be raised in the Tiger Tribe.】
So, Xiu Ka had such a tragic past, no wonder he was so sensitive about abandonment. The root of it all lay here.
“Ma Ya, the Tiger Tribe’s territory is suffering a severe drought. We have no choice but to migrate south. I came to Tiger City this time to let you see Xiu Ka.”
“After all, he is your child.” Wu Er’s tone was sincere, tinged with a hint of humble pleading.
But to Xiu Ka, it only sounded grating. Why should his grandfather have to lower himself just to let his own parents see their child?
He stared at the delicate-looking young female before him, noticing the indifference in her eyes.
“He’s only Yellow rank…” Ma Ya’s words were cut off by Bu Tai.
“Your name is Xiu Ka. You’re as tall and strong as your brothers, what a shame you’re only Yellow rank.” Bu Tai’s eyes were full of pity.
“But since you’re here, you might as well stay. When your brothers return, they’ll show you around Tiger City properly.”
Hearing her mate speak like this, Ma Ya wrinkled her nose. “The old room is still there. Father, you can take him there to stay.”
That Xiu Ka could stay at all was an unexpected stroke of luck for Wu Er. He nodded repeatedly. “Good, good. We’ll stay wherever you say.”
“In that case, esteemed guest, you may also stay in our home. I’ll prepare the finest room for you.”
Xing Chi tossed the half-eaten fruit back onto the plate and casually flicked a yellow crystal bead into it. “I won’t take advantage of you. This yellow crystal will cover the lodging.”
Bu Tai’s eyes lit up at the sight of the yellow crystal. “Thank you, esteemed guest.”
Xiu Ka and Wu Er were led to the front courtyard by a beast servant, while Xing Chi and Mi Yue were personally escorted by Bu Tai to the more comfortable rear courtyard.
“Esteemed guest, please rest well. I won’t disturb you further. When it’s time for dinner, a beast servant will come to escort you to the dining hall.”
Only after they left did Mi Yue dare to whisper, “I didn’t expect your Blue rank status to be so useful.”
Xing Chi snorted smugly. “Of course. That single orange crystal I just gave them could trade for half a year’s worth of food in Tiger City.”
In the Beast World, crystal beads were also graded by color: red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, blue, and purple to denote their quality.
“Are crystal beads really that hard to obtain?” Mi Yue was a little worried about her “money-making” plans.
“Of course. Only males of Blue rank or higher dare to enter the Giant Beast Forest.”
“Every creature there has a crystal bead inside them. The more ferocious the beast, the higher the quality of the bead. Giant beasts even contain water spirits that can extend lifespan and enhance strength.”
“But giant beasts are incredibly powerful. Even Purple rank males need several people working together to hunt one down.” Seeing Mi Yue’s curiosity, Xing Chi patiently explained.
Mi Yue was stunned. “So, if we go to Hundred Beast City, do we have to pay in crystal beads too?”
“Naturally. In Hundred Beast City, even with a pass, you must pay 20 blue crystals. Without one, it’s 100 blue crystals.”
“And in Hundred Beast City, bartering doesn’t exist, everything is traded with crystal beads.”
Mi Yue fell silent. It seemed that if she wanted to make serious money, she’d have to go to Hundred Beast City.
Currently, the most urgent matter is to earn enough 100 blue crystal beads to get to Beast City.
“Xing Chi, I want to earn crystal beads. What do you think would be best to sell?”
Xing Chi stroked his chin and pondered for a moment. “Naturally, it should be something valuable.”
“Something valuable…” Mi Yue racked her brains but still couldn’t think of anything.
Seeing her bewildered little expression, Xing Chi chuckled and lightly tapped her head. “Stop overthinking it. I’ll take you for a walk around the streets, you’ll figure it out soon enough.”
Meanwhile, in the stone house.
“Bu Tai, why did you agree to let them stay? If outsiders find out, where will I put my face?” Ma Ya finally vented the anger she had been holding in.
Bu Tai remained as calm as ever. He poured Ma Ya a cup of water and soothed her gently. “Don’t be upset. I have my reasons for letting them stay.”
