- Billionaire’s Journey into the Beast World, Suitors Compete to Be Fed by Her!
- Chapter 19 - The Battlefield—Is That Someone Very Important to You?
A sizzling bolt of lightning as thick as an arm suddenly appeared out of thin air, striking directly at the three males surrounding Xing Chi.
“Ah!!”
Xing Chi only saw a blinding flash of purple light before his eyes instinctively shut against the intense brightness.
Three cries of pain echoed in his ears. When he opened his eyes again, the males who had been about to kill him were now lying on the ground, their bodies charred black, their hair burned away, and the scent of roasted fish lingering in the air.
Seeing that the three males were thoroughly dead, Mi Yue hurried over to check Xing Chi’s injuries. “Are you okay?”
Xing Chi clutched his abdomen. “I’m fine, but we need to leave now. More will come soon.”
“Who did you offend to make them send so many males after you?”
“Don’t ask too much. Let’s go!”
Supporting each other, the two took a path opposite the stream.
Fearing that assassins might catch up, Mi Yue followed Xing Chi as they ran nonstop until noon.
During this time, her phone kept vibrating, alerting her that Xing Chi’s health bar was dropping. It wasn’t falling rapidly, but if they kept running like this, he would truly be in danger.
“W-Wait… I can’t run anymore,” Mi Yue gasped, feeling as though her lungs were about to burst.
Her body had only just recovered to a normal human’s baseline, and prolonged physical exertion was too much for her.
Xing Chi’s lips were pale, and his strength was nearly spent. He had no choice but to agree to stop and rest.
After catching her breath, Mi Yue pulled out alcohol, hemostatic powder, gauze, and bandages from her animal-skin pouch (which was actually her system space).
“What’s this?” Xing Chi had never seen a transparent container that could hold liquid before.
Mistaking the clear liquid in the alcohol bottle for water, he snatched it from Mi Yue as soon as she unscrewed the cap and took a big gulp.
“Pfft!”
“Why is this water so spicy? Is it spoiled?”
Mi Yue rolled her eyes. “That’s alcohol, for disinfecting wounds, not for drinking.”
“Disinfect? What’s that?” Xing Chi’s cheeks flushed red as he transformed into a curious child.
Mi Yue was surprised by his dazed expression. “Are you drunk?” After just one sip, and spitting most of it out, how could he already be drunk?
“Drunk? What’s that? I didn’t drink anything.”
Not wanting to engage in a game of twenty questions, Mi Yue simply took an alcohol-soaked cotton swab and pressed it against the wound on Xing Chi’s abdomen.
“Ah! That hurts!” Xing Chi arched his back in pain.
“Good. It’s supposed to.” Mi Yue kept her head down as she continued treating the wound. When she looked up again, Xing Chi was leaning weakly against her.
[Warning: The feeding target, Xing Chi, is in critical danger! Host, please provide immediate assistance!]
Mi Yue frowned. She checked his health bar, it wasn’t dropping. In fact, it had stabilized and was even showing signs of recovery. So why was he in danger?
“Xing Chi, do you have any other injuries?” Mi Yue patted his burning-hot cheeks and asked.
Xing Chi’s eyes remained tightly shut, his lips moving faintly in a mumble.
“What did you say?” Mi Yue leaned in closer to listen.
“Water… need water… dehydrated…”
From his fragmented words, Mi Yue barely managed to extract the key point: he was dehydrated.
Of course, Xing Chi was a merman. He couldn’t stay out of water for too long.
Mi Yue scanned their surroundings but saw no water source nearby. Her system space was stocked with milk and drinks, none of which would help.
[Host, you can bring the feeding target back to the modern world! Unlocking this privilege only costs ten million per person.]
[Warning: Feeding target Xing Chi is in imminent danger! If not submerged in water within 10 minutes, he will suffocate due to oxygen deprivation. Host must act immediately!!!]
Mi Yue: “Do I even have another choice?”
“Grant permission to bring Xing Chi back to the modern world.”
[Permission granted!]
Mi Yue quickly pulled out her phone and tapped the “Return Home” button. In an instant, their surroundings transformed completely.
The two of them appeared in the bathtub of a bathroom. The system was oddly considerate, knowing she couldn’t carry Xing Chi herself.
Mi Yue propped Xing Chi against the wall and stepped out of the tub to turn on the faucet.
Not daring to use hot water, she let cold water run while keeping a close eye on Xing Chi’s body temperature.
The cool water soothed his scorching skin, and the feverish flush on his face gradually faded.
Mi Yue checked her phone again, his vitals were stable, and the warning screen was no longer flashing red.
Finally, she let out a sigh of relief. Gazing at the man before her, she took in his lips, now regaining their healthy color, and his strikingly handsome features, his sharp, well-defined face, the long lashes casting delicate shadows under his eyes. He looked every bit the dashing young man.
Her fingers lightly brushed against the strands of ice-blue hair clinging to his face, the texture was undeniably real.
There was no denying Xing Chi’s beauty. He was the kind of man who could make a woman’s heart skip a beat, even in the modern world where such looks were rare.
Having a boyfriend like him would probably make her wake up smiling in her sleep.
She had once thought that Xiu Ka and Xing Chi were merely virtual characters from the system’s world. Yet here he was, brought into reality.
Which meant the Beast World truly existed, a parallel dimension to their own.
Ding-dong, ding-dong.
The doorbell rang. Through her phone’s security feed, Mi Yue saw Li Xiangyang standing outside, holding a bag of her favorite fruit, crystal lychees.
Biting her lip, she hesitated. He had come all this way for her, it would be heartless not to answer.
She glanced back at Xing Chi, still unconscious, and decided he probably wouldn’t wake up anytime soon.
Opening the door, she greeted Li Xiangyang warmly.
“To what do I owe the honor of President Li’s visit to my humble abode today?”
“I finished all my work before coming, no slacking off,” the ever-serious man replied, using modern slang that amused Mi Yue.
It wasn’t that Li Xiangyang was old, he had just always been mature beyond his years, even as a child. Now, as an adult, he was rigidly disciplined, like a workaholic programmed by code.
“Haha, I wasn’t implying anything!”
“Why are you so sweaty? What were you doing just now?” Li Xiangyang tapped his own forehead, gesturing at her.
Mi Yue blinked nervously. “I was doing yoga and haven’t showered yet.”
In reality, she had frantically changed out of her bloodstained clothes into pajamas to avoid suspicion.
Li Xiangyang studied her flushed cheeks, then thought of yesterday’s hospital report.
“Did you handle everything at the hospital properly? Do you need my help?”
Though he wished for her to be healthy, he knew it was impossible.
Mi Yue’s eyes sparkled with playful innocence. “I didn’t do anything! Those test results were real.”
“The previous hospital mixed up the records, and I just happened to have gastroenteritis, that’s why it looked so bad.”
“Don’t worry, I’m perfectly healthy and will surely live a long life.”
The girl’s smile blossomed like a brilliant firework in Li Xiangyang’s heart. “Yes. You’ll definitely live to a hundred.”
Suddenly, a loud splash came from the bathroom, cutting off the conversation between the two in the living room.
The warmth in Li Xiangyang’s eyes instantly chilled. “Miss, is there someone in your house?”
“Is it that person who’s so important to you? Can I meet them?” He stood up, ready to head toward the bathroom.
Mi Yue quickly grabbed his arm. “Y-you must have misheard. There’s no one. I just forgot to turn off the faucet after filling the tub earlier.”
Li Xiangyang tilted his chin slightly. “Is that so?”
Just as Mi Yue thought he believed her and was about to relax, a deep, husky male voice sounded from behind her.
“Yue, who is he?”
