Becoming the Yandere Omega's Fluffy Pet - Chapter 56
Chapter 56
Ming Siyu tasted a trace of the thrill of revenge from Liu Ran’s trembling lips.
She had finally gotten her wish, seeing that fractured expression on Liu Ran’s face once again.
Even though it made her feel equally miserable.
Thrill is not the same as happiness; the look of disbelief in Liu Ran’s eyes was like a knife stabbing into her chest.
But she insisted on doing this. Her patience with Liu Ran had reached its limit; Liu Ran was disobedient and wasn’t providing the feedback she wanted, so she could only use various means to force Liu Ran into submission.
“Sit down.”
Liu Ran sat back down without a word.
Her gaze met Zhu Xinghan’s on stage; the despair in the other girl’s eyes felt like being fed a handful of crushed glass shards. Her whole body felt weak, and she was completely unable to focus on the stage. She turned to look at Ming Siyu, who was watching the performance with composed leisure, a faint smile playing at the corners of her mouth.
In an instant, Liu Ran felt she had never truly known this woman; in the next, she realized with absolute clarity that she had known her all along, and more than once—this was simply who Ming Siyu was.
The comfortable seat turned into an instrument of torture. With every breath, the nausea in her stomach intensified. She couldn’t feel her body; she was stiff to the point of numbness. As the minutes ticked by, it was arguably the longest two hours of Liu Ran’s life. It felt like she thought about many things, yet nothing at all, her entire being an empty shell devoid of sensation.
When the entire cast took their bow, Ming Siyu clapped a few times from her seat. Every clap felt like a resounding slap across Liu Ran’s face.
The theater manager and the dance troupe instructor came over, introducing the performers to the person from Ming’s Entertainment below, stating that a project currently in planning needed a professional ballet dancer and they were here to scout.
They had only received the notice halfway through the performance and hadn’t had time to inform the actors on stage.
Ming Siyu said to the troupe instructor politely but with an irresistible tone: “Could I ask the girl who danced Giselle to perform the variation from the first act again? I think she danced very well.”
The other dancers cast envious glances at Zhu Xinghan.
Zhu Xinghan didn’t move from her spot. She gripped her skirt tightly, bit her lip, and looked down at her toes.
The instructor went over to urge her, “Xinghan, it’s a great opportunity! Dance quickly, we’ll provide the music for you.”
Liu Ran said to Ming Siyu with difficulty: “President Ming, let’s just forget it. I’ve been in the wrong lately; it has nothing to do with Zhu Xinghan. It’s my fault, I apologize to you… Let’s go back and talk, okay?”
Liu Ran naturally understood that Ming Siyu was deliberately making things difficult for Zhu Xinghan. She hadn’t expected Ming Siyu to vent her anger on Zhu Xinghan and only wanted to stabilize Ming Siyu through an apology to quickly end this one-sided bullying.
But in Ming Siyu’s eyes, this was Liu Ran being unable to bear seeing Zhu Xinghan bullied. For the past few days at home, Liu Ran hadn’t shown the slightest intention of reconciling with her, yet the moment Zhu Xinghan was involved, she came forward eagerly to plead for mercy.
She turned a deaf ear.
Under the instructor’s repeated urging, Zhu Xinghan gritted her teeth and began to dance. She made frequent mistakes. The instructor, unaware of the underlying reason, was very anxious and repeatedly explained to Ming Siyu that this wasn’t her true level. Halfway through, Ming Siyu called for a stop. “Are you tired? How about you rest for a while and then dance again.”
The instructor, thinking she had secured a second chance, quickly pulled Zhu Xinghan aside and frowned, telling her to dance properly.
Ming Siyu turned her head and saw Liu Ran’s reddened eyes.
“Enough!” Liu Ran desperately suppressed the questioning roar that was about to burst out. “What exactly do you want? How do you want me to act? I haven’t done well, you’re dissatisfied with me, so why involve other people?”
When Ming Siyu came, she had decided to teach Liu Ran a proper lesson—to give her a harsh warning and make Zhu Xinghan retreat in the face of difficulties. Since she was doing it, she had to leave a deep enough impression. However, the pained expression on Liu Ran’s face made her hesitate. She thought that continuing further might produce the opposite of the desired effect.
She had always been the one leading the relationship with Liu Ran, but recently, especially at this very moment, she felt their positions had swapped Liu Ran had become the dominant one. Her emotions and thoughts followed Liu Ran uncontrollably. She didn’t understand why she was being swayed by a pet she had bought with money.
This gave her a massive sense of discrepancy and insecurity; she had to do something to firmly grasp the initiative back in her own hands.
She couldn’t just let it go like this. She couldn’t let Liu Ran off so easily.
“On the night of your friend’s first official performance, I helped her sell out all the tickets. Shouldn’t you thank me? She really wanted you to come watch, and I brought you here to the seat closest to her. Shouldn’t you thank me? I put in money and time, yet not only do you not thank me, but you even blame me. Liu Ran, do you have a habit of returning kindness with ingratitude?”
Every word from Ming Siyu linked together into a cold chain encircling Liu Ran’s neck, tightening until breathing became difficult.
It was shocking that someone could so shamelessly beautify themselves from a villain into a saint.
Ming Siyu was saying this on purpose to sting her; Ming Siyu just wanted to see her go crazy, see her defenses break, see her become hysterical.
Ming Siyu never considered the feelings of others. As long as she could achieve her goal, she didn’t care if she stepped on someone or let an innocent person get hurt. She only had eyes for herself; everyone could be used and sacrificed for her.
She was like a naturally naive yet cruel child, lacking sympathy and empathy, unscrupulous and taking everything for granted.
Liu Ran saw through it completely. She should thank Ming Siyu; whenever she was hesitant, Ming Siyu would slap her awake ruthlessly, telling her: Look, I am such a black-hearted, bad woman. Why don’t you hate me yet?
Liu Ran had also figured out a bit of Ming Siyu’s temperament and knew the best way to counter-attack right now was to ignore her.
But she was truly both angry and afraid; she had once again updated her perception of Ming Siyu.
“You’re always using others to blackmail me from the driver, to Sister Qi Zhen, and now to Zhu Xinghan. As long as I don’t satisfy you, you find ways to force me to submit, without ever considering how much harm it causes others. Right, what do others count for in your eyes? Nothing at all, so of course you wouldn’t consider them. What do you want me to do? Want me to continue like before, being your toy in bed, the secretary who is on call for you to touch whenever you want?”
As Liu Ran spoke, her tears began to flow uncontrollably.
“When you’re happy, you tease me like a dog; when you’re not, you kick me away. If you kick me, do I still have to praise you for kicking well? Is that what it takes for you to be satisfied? Sorry, I almost forgot—in your heart, I’m not qualified to negotiate terms with you.”
Toward the end, she couldn’t quite suppress her volume. Several people near them on stage heard the sound and all cast a few glances over.
Ming Siyu thought to herself: No.
She didn’t want Liu Ran to be a toy, nor did she want Liu Ran to be a soulless robotic pet.
She just wanted the old Liu Ran whose eyes were full of her, who would get angry at her and also act spoiled with her. She wanted all of Liu Ran’s emotions, not just blind obedience.
But she couldn’t say those words. She didn’t know how to speak; the only thing she was good at was stinging people until they were covered in wounds.
Ming Siyu was practically exploding with rage. It had been a long time since Liu Ran had argued with her in such a long-winded way, and it turned out to be for the sake of some Zhu Xinghan who had appeared out of nowhere.
Her chest hurt from the anger. The doctor had told her that getting angry would increase the burden on her internal organs and told her to try to stay calm. Unfortunately, she couldn’t do it, just as she couldn’t remain rational when facing Liu Ran.
The smile on her face faded.
“Liu Ran, you should be clear that your mistakes will naturally bring retribution upon the people around you.”
“Since using the people around you works, why wouldn’t I use them?”
At this moment, the troupe instructor came over to say that Zhu Xinghan was ready.
Liu Ran looked through her teary eyes; Zhu Xinghan looked humiliated and didn’t look ready at all.
Ming Siyu turned and took a deep breath, clapping her hands. “Good, dance again.”
Zhu Xinghan gave Liu Ran a smile that looked worse than crying and began to dance to the music. Even to a layman like Liu Ran, it was clear she was dancing with strain. She couldn’t keep the beat at all. During a grand jeté, she fell and didn’t get back up, burying her face in her hands and crying on the spot. Her companions on stage all gathered around her, and the instructor was also unable to save face, repeatedly apologizing to Ming Siyu.
“If she’s not injured, I can wait right here until she adjusts her emotions and dances again.”
“Enough!” Liu Ran interrupted Ming Siyu loudly.
“You are simply unreasonable!”
She turned and walked out quickly along the steps.
Now, everyone present realized something was wrong.
Ming Siyu told the instructor, “Next time then. The timing wasn’t right this time; I’ll have the production team come to choose next time.” She chased after Liu Ran.
The instructor didn’t know what the situation was and could only go back to ask Zhu Xinghan.
Logically, since Zhu Xinghan had just joined the troupe, no matter how excellent her personal ability was, her stage experience wasn’t enough; it wouldn’t have been her turn to dance Giselle. Generally, one has to start from the corps de ballet in a supporting role. But Zhu Xinghan’s family knew the theater leadership; they wanted the child to dance an important role for her first official performance at the theater to leave a vivid mark. It so happened that the original principal dancer was unwell recently, so she simply let Zhu Xinghan dance it.
But clearly, a deep impression had been left—alas, it was a not-so-pretty one.
Zhu Xinghan had danced poorly from the start, and it became an utter mess during the solo.
“What was wrong with you today? The people from Ming’s Entertainment clearly had their eyes on you. If you had danced a bit better just now, maybe you would have been chosen.” The instructor felt it was a great pity.
Zhu Xinghan gave a bleak smile: “Instructor, if I had known they were coming today, I wouldn’t have danced Giselle.”
“You know them?”
“No.” Zhu Xinghan wiped her tears. “Maybe I’m not suited for this role. Instructor, you entrusted me with such an important role and I danced poorly—I’ve let you down. I was too nervous today and my body also feels a bit unwell. I’ll head back now.”
“Then that’s all we can do for now. Everyone, disperse.”
Ming Siyu finally caught up with Liu Ran.
Running just this short distance was enough to do her in; she could taste the metallic tang of blood in the back of her throat.
“Is Zhu Xinghan so important to you that you’d make such a scene with me because of her?” Ming Siyu stopped to catch her breath. “I warned you both long ago—especially her—to stay away from you. Treating my warning as a breeze past the ear… she brought this on herself.”
One reason Liu Ran didn’t really interact with Zhu Xinghan was the fear that Ming Siyu would be unhappy and be provoked into dealing with her. She thought that if she ignored Zhu Xinghan, Ming Siyu wouldn’t get angry over it.
Clearly, she was wrong.
“That was her first official stage performance; it only happens once in a lifetime!” Liu Ran didn’t even know how to explain it to Ming Siyu anymore. “There’s nothing between me and her. We haven’t added contact info, and I haven’t even gone to school these past few days…”
“Haven’t you been making a scene with me lately precisely because of her?”
“I haven’t!”
“Then what is it because of?”
“I—” Liu Ran was suddenly stuck. She couldn’t say it was because of Shen Yunhe.
She was so glad she had held back and didn’t mention Bai Yu and Shen Yunhe when she liked Ming Siyu the most. Otherwise, given Ming Siyu’s way of handling things, she would probably have clapped her hands in joy at Shen Yunhe’s death first, and then put Bai Yu under supervision, cutting off her medicine if Liu Ran was disobedient.
Ming Siyu sneered: “Can’t answer? Or do you want to quibble and say it’s a problem with your gland? If it really is a gland problem, go to the hospital right now and have it cut out to settle it once and for all.”
“How have I made a scene with you?” Liu Ran asked back. She had been a bit cool toward Ming Siyu, but it was far from reaching the level of “making a scene.”
This stumped Ming Siyu.
In fact, Liu Ran had only been a bit cool these past few days; she hadn’t done anything out of line and had worked diligently every day. The feeling that Liu Ran was “making a scene” mostly came from her intuition that she was losing her grip on Liu Ran, and her aversion to the situation spinning out of control. She was unwilling to categorize these as her own problems, so she had to find reasons externally, believing it was Liu Ran’s fault.
If she truly had to list specifically how Liu Ran was making a scene, she really couldn’t.
During the standoff, her phone rang. Ming Siyu originally didn’t want to answer, but seeing the caller was He Qiange, she hesitated and picked up.
He Qiange said through tears that for some reason her sister and Xiao Yuenong had started a fight. The place she was currently staying had been smashed to pieces, and her mother had fainted from anger and was just sent to the hospital. Having grown up being pampered by the whole family, she had never seen such a scene; being pregnant, she had no idea what to do. After thinking it over, she could only turn to Ming Siyu for help.
While Ming Siyu was taking the call, Liu Ran turned and vanished.
Ming Siyu had always been at ease with everything, but at this moment, she felt a deep sense of powerlessness. Everything was a mess; from the first moment she softened her heart toward Liu Ran, everything had gone wrong.
She couldn’t find Liu Ran immediately. She habitually went to call Secretary Wen to have her follow her, but the moment she pressed the call button, she remembered Secretary Wen was on leave; Secretary Wen’s wife was sick, and she was at the hospital taking care of her.
She turned to her next choice and called Secretary Lin.
Secretary Lin returned the call after a short while. “President Ming, Secretary Liu is on her way to the airport. Sorry, President Ming, I arranged for Secretary Liu to go out of town to handle matters with the filming base crew. We agreed I would report it to you, but I accidentally forgot in the busyness.”
Ming Siyu no longer had the energy to blame Secretary Lin.
“When is the flight?”
“Eight o’clock tomorrow morning.”
“Intercept her. Have someone else go.”
After hanging up, Ming Siyu started the car, putting the matter of Liu Ran aside for a moment to deal with the trouble at He Qiange’s house.
When she arrived at He Qiange’s, He Qiange’s sister and Xiao Yuenong were almost about to start fighting. The eldest He daughter, usually calm and composed, had completely lost her grace; Xiao Yuenong was no better—both were in a terrible state. The house was a mess, and He Qiange was curled on the sofa crying. Ming Siyu listened to the two of them argue for a few sentences; although they were arguing fiercely, every sentence seemed to be avoiding a certain key point. Clearly, there was something they didn’t want He Qiange to know.
Only someone like He Qiange, who was missing a few brain cells, wouldn’t be able to tell.
Ming Siyu wasn’t interested in the He family’s domestic affairs and offered a few words of persuasion. Out of respect for her, the two didn’t continue the dispute. He Qiange’s sister went to the hospital to see their mother, and Xiao Yuenong lowered her head and apologized to He Qiange, full of regret and dejected helplessness, only to be driven out by a chorus of “Get out.”
Ming Siyu gave He Qiange’s shoulder a reassuring pat.
He Qiange calmed down for a while. “I’m sorry, Sisi. It’s so late and I still had to trouble you to handle my family’s mess. Your health isn’t good either…” As soon as she said this, tears welled up and flowed again.
Ming Siyu sighed: “Don’t cry.”
Several people had cried tonight. Zhu Xinghan cried, Liu Ran cried, and He Qiange cried too. Did she have to have a cry along with them?
She added: “Forget it, cry then. It feels better to cry it out. It’s not convenient for you to find anyone else for this matter.” After all, few people knew He Qiange was pregnant, and Xiao Yuenong was a public figure; it wouldn’t be good if word got out.
“Let’s find someone to clean up this mess tomorrow.” He Qiange looked at the debris on the floor, exhausted.
“Can you manage alone? If you can, I’ll head off first.”
“In such a hurry? Something up?”
Ming Siyu ground her teeth: “Catching someone.”
He Qiange hurriedly pressed for who she was catching. Ming Siyu briefly recounted the matter of Liu Ran’s rebellion. He Qiange fell into silence after listening, then asked hesitantly: “Sisi, don’t you really think you’re caring a bit too much about Liu Ran?”
“I bought her; of course I have the right to look after her.”
“No, right now you don’t look like her master; you look like a girlfriend driven mad by jealousy.” He Qiange issued a disclaimer immediately after speaking: “I’m pregnant; even if you don’t agree with my opinion, you can’t scold me and you can’t hit me.”
Ming Siyu wanted to laugh upon hearing that. What was Liu Ran that she was worth her being jealous over? It had always only been others being jealous of her; she would never be jealous of others.
“Sisi, if you only want Liu Ran to be obedient whether actively or forced, I support you catching her back right now and giving her a severe punishment to make her learn her lesson. You don’t want her running around and contacting people you don’t like; you could very well lock her up. But Sisi,” He Qiange looked at her friend helplessly, “if you want her to stay by your side as a living person with emotions, don’t push her too hard. To be honest, in my view, Liu Ran already has a very soft temperament. Usually, she’s the one giving in to you, right?”
Ming Siyu snorted.
“What do you mean ‘giving in’ to me? I was right to begin with.”
“Fine, fine, fine. In any case, Liu Ran is a living person after all, not a puppy that can’t even understand human speech. You have to allow her to have a tiny bit of her own space. Take tonight’s matter for example—I believe Liu Ran at least has no interest in that dancer. If she really did, it was the girl’s first official performance; wouldn’t Liu Ran have found every possible way to go watch? Did she go proactively? No. You’re the one who dragged her there.”
Ming Siyu had calmed down by now. She nodded, admitting He Qiange’s words had some logic. But she still didn’t think there was a problem with her way of handling Zhu Xinghan. Zhu Xinghan knew full well Liu Ran was her person yet still insisted on pushing her luck; Zhu Xinghan deserved her fate today.
And was Liu Ran truly without fault at all? Liu Ran had pleaded for Zhu Xinghan so passionately today, not hesitating to have a massive fight with her rather than let her continue to hurt Zhu Xinghan.
At the thought of this, Ming Siyu’s heart felt a stinging pain again.
He Qiange continued to advise: “Liu Ran just happened to go on a business trip. Why don’t you both take this opportunity to cool down for a few days.”
“I’m heading back.” Ming Siyu stood up to leave.
He Qiange’s eyes widened; she was still going to catch her? After she had spent all this time talking and advising, was it just playing the lute to a cow?
“Calm down!”
“I am calm,” Ming Siyu said wearily. “I’m not used to the bed at your house.”
He Qiange slapped her forehead. She had almost forgotten Ming Siyu had the habit of being unable to sleep in unfamiliar beds.
Downstairs, Ming Siyu sat in her car for a while, then called Secretary Lin, telling her not to replace Liu Ran. When she got home, Qi Zhen came forward, looked behind her, and asked: “Miss Liu, she…”
“She’s on a business trip. Pour me a glass of water.”
While waiting for the water, Ming Siyu’s peripheral vision caught the dried flower bouquets in the living room. Originally, these things weren’t in the living room; after Liu Ran arrived, these inconspicuous little things appeared in various corners of the living room, and even the green plants at home grew more lush than before. She usually didn’t notice, but now that Liu Ran wasn’t home, the changes were suddenly obvious.
Ming Siyu irritably lit a cigarette.
Because Liu Ran didn’t like the smell of smoke, she hadn’t smoked in the living room for a long time.
Now, she could finally smoke at will, without having to worry about whether Liu Ran would cough.
Liu Ran received a call from Zhu Xinghan near dawn.
She had been sitting in the airport lounge for most of the night. Fortunately, to avoid forgetting her documents for a flight, she had put her ID card in the car in advance; otherwise, she would have had to go back to get her ID before she could enter.
After cooling down, Liu Ran felt quite sorry for Zhu Xinghan. She had distanced herself from Ming Siyu because of Shen Yunhe, and Ming Siyu had mistakenly thought it was Zhu Xinghan’s fault, leading to such a scene. At the same time, she felt a bit helpless. Ming Siyu had indeed made things clear to Zhu Xinghan on the day of the annual meeting, and she had told Zhu Xinghan several times afterward. If Zhu Xinghan had listened earlier and had no more contact with her, Ming Siyu wouldn’t have directed her misunderstanding at Zhu Xinghan.
“Are you okay? That woman…” Even over the receiver, she could hear Zhu Xinghan’s heavy nasal tone. “President Ming. What exactly is your relationship with President Ming?”
Ming Siyu’s madness terrified Zhu Xinghan. She couldn’t believe Ming Siyu was merely Liu Ran’s superior or boss; no boss would interfere in an employee’s private life to such an extent. Ming Siyu had acted entirely as if she were bringing Liu Ran to declare her sovereignty tonight.
Liu Ran didn’t know how to answer.
From her silence, Zhu Xinghan guessed it was a relationship that couldn’t be made public.
“Do you like her? Are you being forced? She doesn’t seem to respect you at all. Don’t you want an equal, normal relationship?”
“This is a private matter between her and me,” Liu Ran said in a low voice. “I’m sorry; I’ve ruined such an important performance in your life. I bear a large part of the responsibility.”
“It’s okay. I originally thought you wouldn’t come, but you did. Since you came, I’m very happy.”
After hanging up, Liu Ran thought that this time Zhu Xinghan probably wouldn’t contact her again. Ming Siyu was indeed ruthless in her actions.
Ming Siyu.
At the thought of that name, Liu Ran felt as miserable as if she were being executed. She couldn’t stop herself from wondering if the matter with He Qiange was settled, if Ming Siyu had gotten home safely, if she could have a restful sleep, and if she would have to take sleeping pills again if she had insomnia.
Liu Ran felt she was also pathetic beyond measure; to still be worrying about whether Ming Siyu could sleep in such a situation.
She had fled like this; Ming Siyu was probably fuming right now, thinking of ways to punish her.
In Ming Siyu’s eyes, what was she after all?
