Becoming the Comfort Alpha for the Aloof Movie Queen - Chapter 35
Running over to kiss her.
Liang Ruojing had no idea just how wildly she was being perceived in Huahua’s mind.
Ming Tanqing lazily lifted her eyelids, clearly in a bad mood. However, a beautiful woman in a fit of pique was a sight to behold in its own right.
“Am I that unpresentable?”
Liang Ruojing stole a few more quick glances and explained, “We can’t let others know about our relationship; it’s written in the contract.”
Ming Tanqing finally experienced what it felt like to shoot oneself in the foot.
The contract also stated that when the Omega refuses, the Alpha must not use force. And yet, every time Ming Tanqing couldn’t take it anymore and called for a stop, did Liang Ruojing ever actually stop instead of becoming even more aggressive?
But if those words were spoken aloud, it wouldn’t be flattering for either of them.
Ming Tanqing asked, “Did Sister Tan tell you? It’s true that Lin Xiuzhu pursued me in university, but that’s in the past. I explicitly rejected her back then, and she didn’t persist.”
Liang Ruojing nodded timidly. Inwardly, however, she didn’t agree.
She was an Alpha! Of course, she understood an Alpha’s mindset. With an Omega like Ming Tanqing, how could someone truly stop liking her just because they were rejected? At least, Liang Ruojing couldn’t do it. Even now, she couldn’t forget that kiss.
Ming Tanqing said helplessly, offering a word of comfort: “I’ll talk to her later.”
Liang Ruojing didn’t take such a casual remark to heart. Ming Tanqing was so busy; why would she go out of her way to spend extra time resolving such a trivial matter?
But Liang Ruojing had overlooked something. Ming Tanqing was equally busy today, yet she had still specifically come out from her set to help counsel her.
Ming Tanqing continued to ask, her tone softening slightly: “How do you think you performed?”
Liang Ruojing shook her head. The truth was, she really didn’t know.
Liang Ruojing’s acting had always been “good enough” in her previous career. In idol dramas, as long as the actors are beautiful and the chemistry is palpable, many flaws can be covered up. But in a serious drama, her meager acting skills were a bit insufficient.
Ming Tanqing propped up her head with her hand; even a lazy gesture looked elegant when she did it.
“Xiao Jing, you aren’t professionally trained. Do you know the difference between method acting and representational acting?”
“I know.”
Tang Yuecen had enrolled her in acting classes before.
Ming Tanqing’s tone was steady: “Just like actors, directors have similar schools of thought. You worked with He Jing before; did she often explain the scenes to you?”
Liang Ruojing recalled, “Director He was very strict about the grasp of a scene; she even arranged the angles of the body.”
Ming Tanqing said, “You can think of Director He as representational. She has a serious and earnest personality and maintains strong control over her films. You feel she is a good person, while others might find her rigid. Director He excels in serious dramas, and her filming style matches that perfectly.”
Liang Ruojing frowned, looking at Ming Tanqing; her mind was still a muddle.
Ming Tanqing continued patiently: “Lin Xiuzhu is different; she is a method director. In her heart, there are standards, but no templates. The films she excels at are more literary and focus more on the actor’s emotional expression. You said earlier that she doesn’t speak?” Ming Tanqing asked.
Liang Ruojing nodded. At least, that was how it was with her.
“It’s because your performance met a part of her expectations, but it wasn’t the best. If it were truly terrible, she would scold you.”
A flash of light flickered in the depths of Liang Ruojing’s eyes. “So…”
Ming Tanqing gazed at her tenderly. “Yes, your acting is decent; it’s not worthless.”
It had been a long time since Liang Ruojing felt her blood boil because of a single word of encouragement. She needed this encouragement too much. In the four days since joining the cast, aside from her initial entrance scene, she had felt defeated every single day.
Sister Tang was busy with funeral arrangements, so it wasn’t easy to talk to her. Huahua and Xiao Xing gave her nothing but total affirmation, so she couldn’t ask them. She didn’t expect it would still be Ming Tanqing.
Ming Tanqing leaned forward, rolled up the script, and suddenly tapped the Alpha on the head.
“Don’t get cocky. You’re still far from it.”
Liang Ruojing leaned in urgently and asked, “Then Sister Ming, what should I do?”
Ming Tanqing spoke two words. “Enter the role. If you don’t immerse yourself in the character, you’ll have to work this hard every day. Xiuzhu won’t explain the scenes to you. To be honest, I don’t think she has the answer in her heart either.”
Liang Ruojing realized the problem. “But I can’t do it alone…”
As soon as she finished speaking, the Omega suddenly coughed twice and leaned against the wall with poise.
Liang Ruojing had a sudden moment of inspiration. She moved forward on her knees a couple of steps, almost leaning against Ming Tanqing. Her puppy-like eyes were sparkling: “Sister Ming, can I ask you questions if I have problems?”
Ming Tanqing couldn’t suppress the corners of her mouth from curling up. She extended a finger and poked the Alpha’s forehead.
“For you, I have to teach slowly.”
In Liang Ruojing’s heart, this counted as a promise. Her eyes held only the Omega in front of her. She wanted to be by her side forever.
Ming Tanqing’s phone suddenly rang with two beeps. After checking the message, she said to Liang Ruojing, “I have to go back to my set. Do you have any other questions? Aren’t you going to film in a bit?”
Ming Tanqing thought Liang Ruojing would ask questions related to acting.
Liang Ruojing did indeed ask. “Sister Ming, did you change my clothes?”
A flash of embarrassment crossed the face of the usually composed Omega. Ming Tanqing shook her head: “No.”
As if unwilling to give up, Liang Ruojing pressed further: “You didn’t touch anything at all?”
The Alpha’s distinct abs inappropriately flashed through her mind. Ming Tanqing stood up directly, the tips of her ears stained with a layer of pink: “I didn’t touch anything.”
She put on her mask and walked out. Liang Ruojing escorted her. As they were about to part ways, Liang Ruojing asked one last question.
“Sister Ming, are you this good to everyone?”
The winter wind whistled. The Alpha stood in the wind’s path, blocking most of the cold air for her.
Ming Tanqing shook her head. “Not everyone who stays out all night makes me worry.”
At around 15:30, Huahua came to remind Liang Ruojing to touch up her makeup and wait for her scene. The little assistant’s state was off; her gaze was flickering and she seemed to find it difficult to speak.
Unfortunately, Liang Ruojing had no time to think too much. The set was already prepared, and she had to get into position quickly. Yu Youyou had just finished her take and chatted with Liang Ruojing while waiting.
“Did you see Ming Tanqing?” Liang Ruojing asked “casually.”
Yu Youyou wailed: “No! The management in there is extremely strict. I don’t know who saw her, but I’m dying of envy!”
Liang Ruojing was practically humming a song in her heart. Of course, others couldn’t see her; the person herself was over at her place. Thinking of this, she unintentionally pulled a small slip of paper from her pocket: “Here, I got this for you—Ming Tanqing’s signature.”
“Hmm?” Yu Youyou raised her eyebrows suspiciously, took the small slip of paper, and scrutinized it repeatedly. “Why is the paper so small?”
Because that was the only kind of signature card available on the RV.
Yu Youyou stared at it intently. The handwriting did look like hers, but the paper was too small; no one would have Ming Tanqing sign on such a tiny scrap. Moreover, no one had seen Movie Queen Ming, and Liang Ruojing had been on set the whole time, so how could she have met her?
Yu Youyou suddenly realized, “I get it! Sister Liang, you’re so nice, you even forged one for me. Even though it’s not real, I’ll cherish it!”
With that, the Omega walked away. Liang Ruojing’s attempt to show off failed, and she got a good taste of that restless, itchy feeling in her heart.
In the afternoon, Liang Ruojing had only one scene. Perhaps because the atmosphere on set had been too oppressive previously, they specifically chose a lighter scene to film today. Han Jiahe was being confessed to by a colleague from the Procuratorate.
Liang Ruojing and the actor she was playing against were walking together on the street. When the mood was right, the other actor would say the lines, and Liang Ruojing only needed to refuse. The whole process was very short. If it went smoothly, they could finish filming in less than half an hour.
Liang Ruojing changed her look. When she came out of the dressing room, the other actor’s eyes lit up.
“Wow, a refined rogue. My heart’s fluttering; I won’t have to worry about not getting into character later.”
Liang Ruojing looked down at her clothes: a black trench coat over a three-piece suit. The vest was tight, outlining the Alpha’s good figure. The various crew members took their positions, and Liang Ruojing and her co-actor walked under the camera together.
The first two takes didn’t pass. The other actor had some issues with positioning and kept blocking her. For this scene, the most important thing was to show Han Jiahe’s mental state. Therefore, her every expression was vital.
Liang Ruojing looked nervously in Lin Xiuzhu’s direction. The director still had no expression. But near her, an additional staff member in plain clothes had suddenly appeared. The figure was tall and straight, with a duckbill cap pulled very low, revealing only a glimpse of an exquisite, fair chin.
Liang Ruojing felt this person was inexplicably familiar. The next take started quickly. The camera was zoomed in on the Alpha’s face.
It was late afternoon, and Huafeng, which had been cloudy all day, suddenly cleared up. The sunset was just right. Liang Ruojing strolled through it; every strand of her hair seemingly glowing.
The other actor gazed at her infatuatedly and stopped: “Jiahe, I like you. Give me a chance…”
Han Jiahe turned back in slow motion. “I’m sorry, I already have someone I like.”
For Han Jiahe, saying this was an excuse to focus on her revenge. But for Liang Ruojing, these words came from the heart. She truly had someone she liked in her heart. She liked her so much that that person’s existence alone was enough to light up her world.
The assistant director looked at the monitor and exclaimed, “How did she improve so much in one day! This gaze is excellent!”
Han Jiahe’s eyes were bright, flashing with an undeniable grit and affection. Interpreting it from the script’s perspective, it was normal for her to have this kind of mental state since she had just entered the Procuratorate and was frequently performing well.
An extraordinary performance. Lin Xiuzhu clicked the clapperboard. “Very good, this take is a pass.”
The assistant director shot her a glance as if he’d seen a ghost. Very good? Since when did Lin Xiuzhu speak like that?
The stagehand came forward and chatted happily with Liang Ruojing. The set was filled with harmony. Lin Xiuzhu raised her eyelids and looked at the “staff member” standing beside her.
“Is this, okay? You came to find me just for this, and even dressed up like this…”
Ming Tanqing raised her hand and pulled the cap even lower. She dressed like this to avoid the crazed fans nearby.
“Thanks for your hard work. Xiao Jing has potential.”
Lin Xiuzhu was too lazy to even expose Ming Tanqing. There were so many actors with potential, yet Ming Tanqing only focused on Liang Ruojing.
Liang Ruojing took off her coat, and her mood, which had been suppressed for many days, finally cleared up at this moment. She didn’t know if it was because of the acting or because of that conversation with Ming Tanqing in the afternoon.
“Teach slowly.”
Was there a more enduring promise in the world than this? In the cold world of the entertainment industry, Liang Ruojing finally had one more person she could rely on.
Liang Ruojing walked forward, her gaze passing over the camera toward the very front, when she suddenly caught a glimpse of that “staff member’s” profile. The features were exquisite, the lines beautiful. The sunlight fell on her, making even the dusk become elegant and romantic.
It was Ming Tanqing!
Their eyes met. Liang Ruojing was briefly stunned before realizing that Ming Tanqing had watched the whole thing. A surge of passion rose from nowhere. Liang Ruojing hurriedly shoved her clothes to Gu Jinghe and rushed out regardless of everything.
If she were Liang Ruojing, she would wait until they returned to the hotel. Right now, she was Han Jiahe; she was happy, and when she wanted something, she would go after it immediately.
The Alpha ran, following the figure in front until they reached a dim corner. Work was over, and the crew members on set were all busy; no one noticed them.
Ming Tanqing finally stopped, turned around, and took off the duckbill cap. Her smooth black hair cascaded down. In the orange light, the Omega’s entire face was exceptionally gentle.
Ming Tanqing lifted her eyes as if helpless, her smile indulgent. “My side finished early, so I stopped by to see—”
Liang Ruojing stepped forward, suddenly grabbed the Omega’s arm, leaned down, and kissed those two soft lips.
She had wanted to do this since the afternoon.
