Chapter 86: Hiss… What a Wicked, Overbearing Little Puppy-Snake… But Her Arrogance Is So Adorable… She Loves Her Even More Now.
Ji Yunfei stopped before the cliff while holding Xie Yin. She remembered from her dream that Xie Yin had once wrapped around her and jumped, landing steadily below. Beneath this mist should be the Snake Den.
“Hmm? We’re here already? Jump, jump!” Sensing Ji Yunfei come to a halt, Xie Yin poked her head over Yunfei’s shoulder to peer down the cliff, urging her with mischievous intent.
Hmph, let’s see what this crafty human does now. She’ll have to beg me if she wants to land safely.
This naughty girl can’t even hide the excitement and mischief in her voice… Ji Yunfei chuckled inwardly. Pretending not to notice Xie Yin’s impatience, she spoke lazily: “Eldest Miss, are you trying to turn me into meat paste?”
“You should think carefully…” Ji Yunfei leaned closer to the little snake head, a wicked grin playing on her lips. “If I turn into meat paste, you won’t have a wife anymore…”
“You rogue! Besides taking advantage of me verbally, what else can you do? Who wants to marry you?” Xie Yin was both ashamed and annoyed; she hadn’t expected Ji Yunfei to deviate from the script again. Though her thick, gauze-wrapped tail was injured, its strength was no joke—it stung like fire as it whipped against Ji Yunfei.
“Ouch, ouch! Eldest Miss, take it easy. Doesn’t your tail hurt?” Ji Yunfei gently caught the little tyrant’s “merciless whip,” ignoring her own pain to check if Xie Yin’s tail was okay first.
“Whether my tail hurts or not is none of your business, you fake!” The little black snake didn’t hold back, sinking her teeth into Ji Yunfei’s shoulder as if venting her rage.
“Hiss—” Ji Yunfei gasped at the pain but didn’t push her away. She simply knitted her brows, allowing Xie Yin to “rule over” her shoulder.
Even with amnesia, she’s still a little puppy-snake… Ji Yunfei sighed helplessly in her heart. What can I do? I brought this on myself. Truly a sweet burden.
“Done venting?” After a while, seeing the little black snake finally let go and stop moving, Ji Yunfei spoke softly. “Can you tell me how to get down now?”
“Beg me.” Xie Yin wasn’t going to give in so easily. She turned her head away, looking determined to ignore Ji Yunfei.
Such a childish temper. Oh right, she’s only a two-hundred-year-old baby snake right now; she needs to be pampered and coaxed. Ji Yunfei gave a helpless light laugh and began to coax the little ancestor.
“I beg of you, Eldest Miss, good Yin-yin… tell me how to land safely, okay?” Despite the plea, Ji Yunfei couldn’t help but add a playful tone, making her words sound less like a request and more like a lover’s flirtation.
Moreover, she deliberately emphasized the words “Good Yin-yin.”
“Ahem… Since you’re being so sincere, I suppose I’ll tell you…” Perhaps because she had been teased so many times, Xie Yin didn’t react as violently as before, but the tip of her tail, which she couldn’t stop wagging, betrayed her shy yet pleased mood.
“The best way to land safely is…” she trailed off, acting mysterious, “…is that there is no way!”
“Huh?” Ji Yunfei was stunned. She looked at the mist-covered cliff, then at the haughty Xie Yin, and said suspiciously: “Are you sure? You naughty thing, are you just trying to make me beg you on purpose?”
Having her little scheme exposed, Xie Yin’s eyes darted around guiltily, but she wouldn’t admit it: “Who wants to look at you? Believe it or not, but you won’t die from the fall anyway.”
“Fine, fine, I’ll listen to you. I’m jumping.” Ji Yunfei adjusted Xie Yin’s position around her neck and stepped closer to the edge. “Hold on tight so you don’t get hurt.”
Xie Yin didn’t respond, but Ji Yunfei felt the coils around her neck tighten. She crinkled her eyes and whispered: “I’m jumping then.”
With that, she closed her eyes and leaped into the bottomless, mist-shrouded abyss.
Her body fell rapidly. The wind roared in her ears, and the immense resistance made her face twist. She wanted to ask how Xie Yin was doing, but the pressure was too great to speak.
After an unknown amount of time, Ji Yunfei felt her descent slowing down. The mist obstructing her vision thinned, and a faint scent of roses drifted to her nose.
“Stop looking so entranced. We’re here.” Xie Yin’s slightly disgusted voice rang out, and Ji Yunfei slowly opened her eyes.
Without realizing it, she had reached the bottom of the cliff. It felt as if the wind was gently cradling her, suspending her about twenty or thirty centimeters above the ground. Xie Yin had already detached herself and transformed back into her human-form-snake-tail state, standing to the side with her arms crossed, watching her.
“Still standing there like an idiot? Let’s go.” Seeing Ji Yunfei dazed in mid-air, Xie Yin pouted, walked around her, and headed toward the Snake Den.
“Hey, wait for me, Yin-yin…” Reaching the ground, Ji Yunfei scurried after Xie Yin like a loyal puppy.
The place was almost exactly as it was in Ji Yunfei’s memory—a hidden paradise with simple wooden huts and modestly dressed snake demons. However, there was one difference: when did the Snake Den start having patrols in armor?
And it wasn’t just a few; there were whole squads of guards.
Intuition told Ji Yunfei that things weren’t as simple as they seemed, but she needed to find Xie Chu and the others first to understand the full picture.
“You two, stop right there.” A shout came from behind. Ji Yunfei and Xie Yin both froze and slowly turned around.
The people stopping them were a patrol squad. The leader was a female snake demon with conspicuous, brightly multicolored hair.
Hiss… that color scheme… why does she look so much like Huahua? Ji Yunfei frowned slightly, scrutinizing the unfriendly-looking snake demon.
“Look closely at who’s talking before you open your mouth.” Xie Yin put her hands on her hips, her tone somewhat weary.
Hearing this, the leading snake demon froze, then narrowed her eyes and stepped closer to the two.
Snake demons, regardless of gender or species, are exceptionally beautiful in human form. Having such a beauty leaning in so close, sniffing her, made even the self-possessed Ji Yunfei blush.
“Hmm, a very familiar scent…” The snake demon was still deciphering the smell. Just as she was about to sniff further, a hand suddenly shoved her back, separating her from Ji Yunfei.
“Done sniffing? Do you recognize who it is?” Xie Yin’s face remained cold and expressionless.
But inside, she was anything but calm. What kind of magic does this human have? Why does my heart feel sour when I see Huahua get close to her? Why did I instinctively push them apart?
This is cursed. Did this human give me some kind of love potion while I wasn’t looking?
Xie Yin didn’t dare think further. She immediately decided that in a moment, she would have her subordinates throw this “flirtatious” human of unknown origin into the dungeon!
By now, Huahua finally recognized who the two people were. She became instantly excited, her snake tail thumping the ground in joy. She spun in a circle and shouted: “Bo—Boss! And Mas—”
Before she could finish, Ji Yunfei covered her mouth. Huahua looked aggrieved and shot Ji Yunfei a piteous look.
Why won’t Master let me finish?
Seeing her reaction, Ji Yunfei was certain—this snake demon was indeed her Huahua. Seeing her about to blurt out her identity, Ji Yunfei felt a sudden pang of panic and blocked her mouth, signaling her not to act.
There had always been a silent understanding between Ji Yunfei and her “snake-babies,” even more so now that they had become demons.
With one look, Huahua understood. She stepped back, creating distance, and made a “zipping her lips” motion, falling silent.
“You two know each other?” Xie Yin, having watched the whole awkward scene, spoke with an unreadable tone.
“No, no, we don’t.” Seeing Xie Yin’s suspicion, Ji Yunfei laughed it off. “I thought she looked like an old friend of mine… I got a bit excited. My mistake, my mistake.”
“Hmph, it better be.” Xie Yin huffed, thinking to herself: If they actually knew each other, wouldn’t my plan to throw this brat into the dungeon fall through?
She definitely wasn’t going to let this human have an easy time.
“Since you don’t know each other, Huahua…”
“Here, Boss!” Being called, Huahua stood at attention, clutching her spear tightly, waiting for Xie Yin’s next command.
Standing to the side, Ji Yunfei felt Xie Yin’s unfriendly gaze slowly settle on her. Alarm bells rang in her head.
This naughty girl is definitely up to no good. Will I even get to see Xie Chu and the others safely?
Just as Ji Yunfei expected, the next second, Xie Yin narrowed her eyes at her and spoke slowly: “This human followed me, tracked me, and teased me with words… she should be punished.”
Hearing this, Huahua was clearly stunned. The look she gave Ji Yunfei screamed: Are you two playing some new kind of roleplay between wives?
Ji Yunfei managed a strained smile, waiting to see what Xie Yin would say next.
“So, Boss, how do you want to punish… uh, this human?” Seeing the malice in Xie Yin’s eyes, Huahua lowered her voice and asked cautiously.
Hiss, look at Master’s reaction—she doesn’t seem to know Boss is going to do this? Did Master accidentally offend Boss without realizing it? Sigh, when I have time, I must tell Master to pay more attention to her partner’s emotions.
Ji Yunfei kept her eyes fixed on Xie Yin. Being stared at so intensely made Xie Yin feel inexplicably uncomfortable. She glared back: “Still looking? Keep looking and I’ll gouge your eyes out to make wine!”
Hiss… what a wicked, overbearing little puppy-snake… but her arrogance is so adorable… she loves her even more now.
The more Ji Yunfei thought about it, the more she liked her. Instead of looking away, her gaze became even more infatuated.
What kind of freak is this? I said all that, and yet she’s looking at me even more like a pervert?
Xie Yin felt a twinge of fear, but she didn’t show it. She gnashed her teeth and ordered Huahua: “Throw her into the dungeon and await my command.”
The Little Overlord of the Snake Den was furious; she was going to go complain to her mothers!
She’d make this hateful human pay!
