- Chapter 92 - Nursery? What Nursery?!
Li Su came to the company today to find him because they were going to visit their new home together.
After Huo Xuanye finished work, the two headed to the new house.
It was Li Su’s first time seeing it. The location was great, the view outside the window was lovely, and it was conveniently close to her studio.
Huo Xuanye led Li Su by the hand, “This will be our master bedroom in the future.”
“This is your walk-in closet.”
“This is your dance studio.”
“This is my study.”
“And here’s a nursery.”
Nursery?
What nursery?
Li Su immediately pulled her hand away and backed off. Get away! Get away! Get away!
Stay far away!!!
“Back! Back! Back!”
Huo Xuanye was baffled, “What’s wrong?”
Li Su retreated further, “You ask what’s wrong? We agreed not to have kids for now, and you go and plan a nursery!!”
Huo Xuanye stepped toward her, “Not even in eighty or ninety years?”
Li Su calmed down a little, “We’ll want them eventually, but after having kids, are we supposed to raise them ourselves? Impossible. You’re busy with work, and so am I. Once we have kids, we’ll have to move back home and let them help take care of them.”
His eyes crinkled with amusement, “So what my wife means is that for the next few years, we’ll enjoy a carefree life for two.”
Why was he so excited?
This was a bare-shell apartment!
Huo Xuanye stood in front of her, “Then we won’t need a maid’s room either. We’ll just hire hourly cleaners. Other than that, it’ll just be the two of us.”
She could practically feel his excitement threatening to devour her.
Li Su: “You look way too eager. Then why didn’t you buy a fully furnished place?”
Huo Xuanye had considered that.
Li Su had always been a pampered young lady.
He didn’t want her to feel even the slightest discomfort.
Huo Xuanye explained, “I was worried it wouldn’t suit your tastes. A home decorated to your preferences will be more comfortable for you.”
That was true.
Most people wouldn’t set aside an entire spacious room just for a dance studio.
After touring the house, the two went to meet with the designer.
Huo Xuanye had no particular opinions on anything else, he left it all to Li Su.
He only had one request: the bathtub had to be bigger.
Since it was his only demand, Li Su didn’t argue.
This was their home together.
Not just hers.
The next day, after finalizing the plans, Li Su went to the dance studio.
She had to continue her rehabilitation while preparing for the next episode’s recording.
Huo Residence.
Several elders were playing mahjong at home.
Xiao Qiyu said, “A-Zhou has been getting quieter and quieter lately. What are we going to do if this keeps up! Do you think we should introduce him to someone?”
“I think he’ll refuse.” Huo Bowen placed a tile in front of his wife, as if asking if she wanted it.
Xiao Qiyu picked it up, “After he regained his memories, you all saw how he was, even suggesting that Susu and A’Ye get a divorce. I’m really worried about him. Mom, Dad, do you think setting him up on a blind date would work?”
Grandmother Xie also wore a troubled expression, “Yes! I think it’s worth a try.”
Just as they were discussing which family’s daughter to introduce to Huo Zhenzhou, the sound of a car came from outside.
“Sounds like A-Zhou is back. Go talk to him! Have a father-son chat.” Xiao Qiyu gave her husband an encouraging look.
Huo Zhenzhou had already gone upstairs by the time Huo Bowen leisurely made his way out.
After knocking, Huo Zhenzhou quickly opened the door.
“Dad, did you need something?”
Even from a young age, Huo Zhenzhou had displayed a maturity and steadiness beyond his years.
He had always been a low-maintenance child.
“Let’s have a chat.”
Huo Zhenzhou stepped aside, allowing his father to enter.
The two sat on the sofa.
For a moment, neither knew how to begin.
Huo Bowen, recalling his wife’s words, steeled himself and spoke first. “Your mother and I hope you’ll take it easy. Don’t work all the time, you’re under too much pressure, and it’s exhausting.”
“Whether it’s Zhou Motang or Li Su, it’s all in the past now. How about starting a new relationship? Maybe an arranged meeting?”
Huo Zhenzhou listened to his father’s words, his expression cold as he refused. “No need.”
Huo Bowen pressed on. “Just give it a try! Try it!”
“Dad, I’m not in the mood for that right now.”
“You still like Li Su.”
It wasn’t a question, it was a statement.
Huo Zhenzhou fell silent.
Seeing this, Huo Bowen felt a headache coming on.
Silence meant tacit agreement!
Liking his younger brother’s wife, how could that be right??
Even if she had once been his fiancée.
“Ah!”
Huo Bowen sighed. “You two weren’t meant to be. Some things just can’t be forced. If you like her, you should want her to be happy. And they are happy together now.”
“Dad, I already know what you’re trying to say.”
Huo Zhenzhou stood up. “I’d like to change clothes now.”
It was a dismissal.
As Huo Bowen walked out, he asked, “What about the arranged meeting?”
“No arrangements.”
When he’d come, he’d held onto a sliver of hope.
What if?
If Huo Zhenzhou had a change of heart, there might still be a chance.
But he wasn’t given even the slightest opportunity.
After his father left, Huo Zhenzhou’s icy gaze darkened with a trace of fury as he yanked off his tie.
The last time he’d fought with Huo Xuanye in this room, it had since been restored to its original state.
The room could be put back together.
But he and Li Su… never.
The day after Huo Bowen’s heart-to-heart with Huo Zhenzhou, the latter left on a business trip.
Huo Bowen entered the study. “He’s gone on another business trip, this is him rebelling against us!”
“What do we do? Will he stop coming home altogether?”
“If it’s not our youngest son and daughter-in-law staying away, it’s our eldest son traveling for work!”
Xiao Qiyu sat at the computer. “So, go talk to your parents. If they ever want to move out, don’t stand in their way.”
“Are they planning to move out?”
“They’ve already bought a place, what do you think?” Xiao Qiyu replied without looking up.
“Didn’t A’Ye say that place was just for Susu to rest at noon?”
Xiao Qiyu scoffed. “And you believed that? How little do you know your own son?”
“Li Su’s studio already has a break room. That apartment was supposedly a birthday gift for Susu, but in reality, it’s their love nest for when they move out.”
Honestly, how could Huo Bowen call himself a father?!
“They’ll move out as soon as the renovations are done.” Huo Bowen walked behind his wife.
He began massaging her shoulders. “Don’t worry. I think my parents will agree. What happened with Zhou Motang hit them hard. For the sake of the kids’ happiness, it’s good for newlyweds to live on their own.”
“Your parents are such old-fashioned sticklers!”
They were his actual parents.
Wife, is it really okay for you to say that?
Huo Bowen only dared to grumble inwardly. Out loud, his words were entirely different. “You’re right. Old folks just like having the whole family together, it’s livelier that way.”
“With all the servants in this house, isn’t it lively enough?”
“Servants aren’t family.”
“Aren’t we their family?” Xiao Qiyu shrugged her shoulders, signaling for him to stop the massage.
Huo Bowen withdrew his hand. “Honey, grandparents always dote on their grandchildren. Right now, Mom and Dad can’t stand the sight of me, they only have eyes for their two precious grandsons.”
Xiao Qiyu shot him a glance.
Catching her look, Huo Bowen quickly added, “I’ll go talk to them!”
