- Amnesiac Fiancé Married Another, So I Married His Brother
- Chapter 91 - Why Is Your Voice Hoarse?
With just one sentence, Huo Xuanye had shut Huo Zhenzhou up for days.
On their way home, even Li Su thought he was ruthless.
“How could you say that to his face?”
“Why not? He was openly trying to steal my wife, undermine me, and get us to divorce. What can’t I say?”
Huo Xuanye wrapped his arms around Li Su, pressing close to her cheek. “Whose side are you on, anyway?”
Outside the car window, the scenery blurred past.
Even late at night, the capital city remained vibrant and bustling.
Li Su turned her head, meeting Huo Xuanye’s deep, dark eyes.
The two brothers looked alike, but their personalities were completely different.
Li Su found it fascinating.
She used to like mature, steady men like Huo Zhenzhou.
Now, she preferred the mischievous, teasing type like Huo Xuanye.
No… he had plenty of good qualities too.
Instead of answering him, Li Su leaned in and kissed his lips.
Lately, she’d been too busy to initiate affection, it was always Huo Xuanye who made the first move.
Li Su kissed him lightly, then pulled back, her gaze turning hazy before she leaned in again, tracing the shape of his lips with tender precision.
Huo Xuanye couldn’t hold back, tightening his embrace.
Their bodies pressed close, and when they finally parted, they rested their foreheads together, breathing heavily.
“Do you understand now?” Li Su whispered.
“No. Kiss me again.”
Li Su pulled her head back. “We’ll talk at home. We’re in the car.”
Who started it, huh?
She got her fill of kisses and then ignored him.
Huo Xuanye wiped his lips. “Fine, in the car, someone’s shy! Wait till we get home, you’ll hide in the room and kiss me until I cry!”
Li Su was stunned.
What the?!
When had she ever kissed him until he cried?
Slander!
Huo Xuanye was slandering her reputation!
An hour later.
In the dimly lit bedroom, Li Su sat on Huo Xuanye’s lap, wearing a smoky lavender spaghetti-strap nightgown. Despite the color not being particularly flattering for fair skin, her complexion remained radiantly pale, smooth, and flawless.
Huo Xuanye held her slender waist, his gaze dazed as if intoxicated by her warmth and softness, his lips wandering over her chest like a man under a spell.
“Baby, focus a little.”
“What’s so interesting, anyway?”
His hot breath fanned across her skin as he spoke.
Li Su distractedly ruffled his hair. “You do your thing, I’ll do mine.”
It was the first day of the show’s live broadcast, and she cared too much about it, so she kept checking the audience’s reactions.
She also browsed through her fan community.
So many compliments.
Lots of encouragement, and messages telling her to rest well.
Her fans were all little angels.
“Mmm~”
Li Su couldn’t help but let out a soft moan.
As she scrolled, her grip on her phone grew unsteady.
Eventually, she didn’t even notice when Huo Xuanye took it from her.
The next day, Li Su slept in.
In the afternoon, she went to Huo Xuanye’s company.
Not the Huo Corporation.
But the one he’d founded himself.
Unlike the Huo Group’s towering skyscraper, this was a campus of several eight- or nine-story buildings.
As expected of the second young master of the Huo family, even his own business was thriving.
Zhuang Ze came to greet her.
“Madam, I watched the livestream last night! You danced so well!”
“Did the CEO give you a massage afterward?”
If having every inch of her body attended to counted as a massage…
Li Su nodded.
“You’ve been working hard, running between both places.”
“Since the eldest young master returned, we haven’t been to the Huo Corporation much,” Zhuang Ze replied.
“Oh~”
Zhuang Ze sensed something else in Li Su’s smile.
He couldn’t quite place it.
He was only good at reading Huo Xuanye’s expressions.
A woman’s gaze? That was beyond him.
So this is the reason he’s still single!
Zhuang Ze led Li Su straight into the office, but Huo Xuanye wasn’t there.
“Probably in a meeting. Feel free to make yourself at home, Mrs. Huo. The CEO said his office is your office, do whatever you like.”
“Thank you.”
Zhuang Ze closed the door and left.
Li Su stood in the warm and cozy office, certain that Huo Xuanye’s office decor hadn’t always looked like this.
Why the change?
Did he want her to visit more often?
Thinking she wouldn’t like the cold, rigid black-and-white aesthetic, even the standard CEO black leather sofa had been replaced with an off-white one. The wall decorations featured photos of her dancing, their wedding portrait sat on the desk, and a faint scent of pear blossoms lingered in the air.
Li Su sat for a few minutes before footsteps echoed outside.
The door opened.
She looked toward the entrance.
A man in a tailored suit walked in, his dark brows and eyes still carrying a sharp edge that hadn’t yet faded. His jawline was tense, his presence so imposing it sent a chill down the spine.
But the moment he saw her, his face lit up with a smile as he casually closed the office door behind him.
“Wife!!”
Huo Xuanye’s voice sounded slightly hoarse, evidence that he’d either spoken a lot during the meeting or lost his temper, shouting himself hoarse.
Seems his employees weren’t making life easy for him either.
Huo Xuanye plopped down beside her and immediately clung to her, resting his chin on her shoulder. “Need a recharge.”
“Did you just lose your temper?”
“Nope.”
“If not, why is your voice so rough?”
He wrapped his arms around her waist and took a deep breath. “From last night.”
Last night?
Who had been the one making noise last night?
Sure, he had spoken, coaxed her, panted, but…
It shouldn’t have been enough to strain his voice.
Li Su patted him. “I was going to comfort you, but it seems you don’t need it…”
“I do! Those people were infuriating!”
Huo Xuanye said this, then waited expectantly for her consolation.
“Don’t be angry. Anger hurts your health.”
That’s it?
Just one sentence?
Didn’t he deserve more comfort?
Like a fragrant little kiss, perhaps.
Li Su poked the back of his hand. “Zhuang Ze said you rarely go to the Huo Group headquarters. So, Second Young Master Huo, is this how you fulfill your grand vow to seize the company?”
“It’s called strategy. My grandfather and father are both in excellent health. Even after my grandfather passes, the chairman position probably won’t go to our generation, it’ll go to my dad first. Only after he’s gone will the title be passed down. That’s decades away. For now, I’ll conserve my energy, let my brother handle the work, and drain him dry.”
Li Su leaned into him. “Really?”
“Really!”
She stared at him. “Tell me the truth.”
Huo Xuanye cracked instantly. “It’s too exhausting. Wife, could you bear to see me running back and forth? We only live once, might as well enjoy it. Right now, I just want to spend more time with you. I don’t want to waste so much of it on work…”
Given Huo Xuanye’s status, no, given both their family backgrounds, they could easily spend their lives traveling the world without ever working.
He wasn’t wrong.
Li Su nodded in agreement. “Hmm, that’s an admirable life philosophy. You’ve figured it out.”
“Life is short. Seize the day.”
“You’ve had enough fun in time, no need to rush any further. Last night, I was scrolling through comments so much that I could barely hold my phone steady…” Li Su blushed at the thought of the previous night as she stood up. “It’s time to take a break.”
“One day a week, and I still need a break?” Huo Xuanye leaned back on the sofa. “Is there any newlywed husband as miserable as me?”
“Of course, there are plenty in TV dramas who don’t even share a bed after three years of marriage. Look on the bright side, you’re already doing quite well.”
Huo Xuanye: “…”
Quite well, my ass!
Why can’t he have it every day?
