- Amnesiac Fiancé Married Another, So I Married His Brother
- Chapter 5 - Mom and Dad, My Flash-Married Wife
Under a sky full of stars, Huo Xuanye opened the car door. The first thing to emerge was a pair of black high heels, revealing fair ankles and slender, straight legs, just the glimpse of her feet was enough to tell she was a refined beauty.
The next moment, Su Su’s breathtaking face came into view of the Huo family, her delicate brows like distant mountains, eyes glistening with moisture, and lips red as roses against pearly white teeth.
Standing beside Huo Xuanye, one wore a black-and-white ink-wash dress, while the other was clad in a black shirt and trousers, his collar slightly open without a tie.
One was a gentle, dignified young lady, the other a famously unruly and untamed young master.
One was the former sister-in-law, the other the former brother-in-law.
Together, they looked visually harmonious, yet their relationship status made the scene undeniably awkward.
“Su Su?”
Huo Zhenzhou couldn’t help but voice his confusion.
Xiao Qiyu’s mind raced. When Huo Zhenzhou had gone missing, everyone had witnessed how devastated Li Su had been, she had even fainted from grief multiple times.
Xiao Qiyu was certain that Huo Xuanye’s new bride must be someone else.
With a smile, she said, “A’Ye, where’s your new wife? Hurry and let her come out, no need to be shy! We’re all easy to get along with. As long as you’re happy, that’s all that matters.”
Huo Xuanye wrapped an arm around Su Su’s slender waist from behind. “Mom, Li Su is my new wife.”
His words sent shockwaves through the family.
The moment he spoke, the Huo family members reacted with varying expressions.
Xiao Qiyu staggered in shock, leaning against her husband, Huo Bowen, who steadied her with an arm around her shoulders.
Huo Qiangcang frowned deeply. “This is absurd. How could you and Su Su possibly get married?”
Huo Xuanye replied breezily, “Grandpa, why can’t Li Su and I marry? She’s single, and so am I. In fact, I should thank my brother, if he hadn’t lost his memory and married someone else, I wouldn’t have had the chance to wed such a beautiful wife.”
Zhou Motang secretly rejoiced. She never expected such a stroke of luck to fall into her lap.
She had been worried that Li Su’s stunning looks might tempt Huo Zhenzhou to divorce her and reconcile with Li Su if he ever regained his memories.
But now, even if he did remember, it wouldn’t matter, both he and Li Su were already married.
Huo Zhenzhou and Li Su would never be together again.
Huo Zhenzhou felt a sudden sting in his chest, a faint ache spreading through him.
Strange. He didn’t even remember Li Su, why did his heart hurt?
Xiao Qiyu finally steadied herself. “Su Su, tell Auntie honestly, does this brat have some kind of leverage over you? Is he blackmailing you?”
“Mom, how could you think so poorly of your precious son?” Huo Xuanye shot a glance at Huo Zhenzhou. “It’s just that our family cost Su Su her husband, so naturally, we should compensate her with a new one. And who else could take on that role but me? After all, I look the most like my brother.”
Li Su’s lips twitched. Seriously? Was Huo Xuanye just casually admitting this?
Were you actually proud of being a stand-in?
“You… you…” Xiao Qiyu’s barely composed emotions began to unravel again.
Huo Bowen, however, remained calm. He even found some logic in Huo Xuanye’s words, the Huo family did owe Li Su, and giving her a new husband wasn’t entirely unreasonable.
The only issue was Huo Xuanye’s temperament, which was nothing like Huo Zhenzhou’s.
Their reputations were worlds apart.
He asked Li Su, “Susu, isn’t it too hasty for you two to have a whirlwind marriage? Does the Li family agree to you marrying A’Ye?”
Li Su calmly replied, “They agreed. Although A’Ye and I have already registered our marriage, both our families are prominent in the capital, so a wedding ceremony is a must. I’d like to trouble Uncle and Aunt to find time to discuss the details with my parents at the Li family home.”
Huo Bowen: “Naturally. Let’s not stand at the door any longer, come in and eat first.”
Huo Qiangcang turned away first, his expression dark. Everything was in chaos, completely out of order!
If the old lady didn’t return soon, the Huo family would descend into utter turmoil.
Inside the Huo family dining room, Li Su dined there for the first time as Huo Xuanye’s wife, and for the first time, she sat directly across from Huo Zhenzhou.
In the past, they had always sat side by side.
Zhou Motang gently placed food into Huo Zhenzhou’s bowl. “Husband, you’ve just recovered, eat more.”
Huo Zhenzhou replied expressionlessly, “Thank you.”
Huo Zhenzhou had always been cold and distant. Zhou Motang used to think he was putting on an act, but now she completely understood.
That was simply the basic demeanor of a young master from an elite family.
Huo Xuanye used serving chopsticks to pick up food for Li Su. “Wife, you should eat more too. You’re too thin.”
Li Su glared at him.
She had to practice dance and appear on camera, did Huo Xuanye not understand the rule that the camera adds ten pounds?
Though she had lost a lot of weight recently, it was all because of Huo Zhenzhou’s disappearance. It had left her unable to eat or sleep, constantly fearing the worst, had he died? Had he been eaten by a shark?
Yet in the end, he had been taken care of by someone else, so well that he ended up in their bed.
When they were dating, Huo Zhenzhou had acted like a refined gentleman, seemingly indifferent to women. Who would have thought that losing his memory could change him so much?
Huo Xuanye wasn’t the least bit angry. Instead, he chuckled and said, “I forgot my wife doesn’t like braised pork. My mistake. Here, have some shrimp, I’ll peel them for you.”
He was doing it on purpose!!!
Huo Zhenzhou no longer remembered Li Su’s preferences, but he did.
The advantage was his.
During this dinner, everyone was preoccupied, making the meal unbearably awkward.
The eldest son’s fiancé had become the youngest son’s wife!
The eldest son had lost his memory and returned with a strange woman as his wife.
After dinner, the Huo family members, uncharacteristically in sync, retreated to their respective rooms.
Only the two Huo brothers remained.
Earlier that day, Huo Zhenzhou had seen a doctor, who suggested he visit places he used to frequent to stimulate his memory.
Now, he couldn’t even remember the password to his study door.
Fortunately, his fingerprint could still unlock it.
Huo Zhenzhou entered the study and turned on the light. The spacious room, decorated in a minimalist black, white, and gray palette, exuded an elite business atmosphere.
On the large black desk was a photo frame, a picture of him and Li Su.
Li Su’s smiling eyes curved into beautiful crescents, her fair fingers forming a “V” for victory.
And he, usually composed and reserved, wore a rare smile.
Suddenly, a hand reached out and snatched the frame away.
“My wife is so beautiful!”
Huo Xuanye admired the photo with delight.
“Huo Xuanye, do you realize what you’re doing? I’ve lost my memory, but you haven’t. How could you marry my former fiancé?” Huo Zhenzhou’s face darkened. “Don’t you find this awkward? What do you take her for? And what does she take you for?”
“A substitute, of course.”
Huo Xuanye pried open the frame. “It’s an honor to be my elder brother’s stand-in.”
He tore the photo in half right in front of Huo Zhenzhou.
Li Su remained intact, while Huo Zhenzhou was shattered.
“Bro, don’t keep photos like this if you find them in the future. The new sister-in-law might get jealous.” Huo Xuanye slapped Huo Zhenzhou’s half onto the table. “Bro, the password to your study is my wife’s birthday. Remember to change it. I’ll take this half with me!”
Huo Zhenzhou lowered his gaze, his eyes resting on the torn half of the photo, and asked in a deep voice, “When is her birthday?”
