Always Chasing My White Moonlight Omega - Chapter 10
“Ruan Yang!” Jing Ziqi called out from a distance, waving at her. “Have you finished shooting your establishing shots?”
Ruan Yang turned around, camera in hand, and saw Jing Ziqi and Su Xinzhi walking toward her side by side.
She instinctively furrowed her brows.
“Done,” Ruan Yang nodded, then asked, “Are you two heading back after finishing yours?”
The director had asked them to shoot some establishing shots first, to see if they could be used in the series later. It was also a way to assess the skills of the three of them.
Su Xinzhi was naturally brimming with confidence. His gaze unconsciously carried a hint of arrogance as he glanced at Ruan Yang.
“Yeah, want to head back with us?”
Jing Ziqi suddenly seemed to remember something. “Oh, Ruan Yang, there are only two scenes with Sister Zhiyi today. Once they’re done, she has to rush to another engagement. With both leads absent, the director said the crew will take the night off and treat everyone to dinner. He invited the three of us too.”
Ruan Yang suddenly recalled that Xu Zhiyi had mentioned attending some award ceremony last night.
When would she be back?
“Want to go together tonight?” Su Xinzhi extended the invitation. “I drove here, I can give both of you a ride.”
Perhaps accustomed to charming pretty Omegas, his words carried an undetectable slickness.
Ruan Yang took a step back. “No need, I can get there myself. Thanks for the offer.”
With that, she turned and walked away, leaving behind a faint scoff whether resentful or disdainful, she couldn’t tell.
But she didn’t look back.
She lingered a little longer, then emailed the contact details of some promising newcomers to her recently hired assistant, instructing them to reach out.
As she started walking, another thought struck her. She pulled out her phone and messaged a tech-savvy classmate, asking them to look into Zheng Tang. Only after finishing all this did Ruan Yang leisurely make her way back to the set.
On set, the director was reviewing the establishing shots Jing Ziqi and Su Xinzhi had just filmed, showering them with praise. His expression made it clear he was genuinely satisfied with their work.
Especially Su Xinzhi’s.
Director Wu Jun grinned like a sly old fox. “Keep learning.”
Coming from a top-tier director in the industry, those three words were high praise.
Su Xinzhi feigned humility with a laugh. “Not at all, I still have much to learn from you, Director Wu.”
Once the pleasantries were exchanged, Su Xinzhi finally seemed to notice Ruan Yang. Smiling, he said, “Oh, Ruan Yang, you’re finally here! We’ve been waiting for you. You took so long, you must’ve shot something amazing, right? Care to show us? Let us learn a thing or two.”
His handsome face made it hard to tell if his words were genuine or laced with sarcasm.
But the tension between him and Ruan Yang was palpable. Even the usually oblivious Jing Ziqi pressed her lips together, staying silent.
Wu Jun’s gaze shifted between the two individuals, one was a protégé sent by an investor to gain experience, while the other had been recommended by a close friend whose work he had reviewed and found impressive. After a brief moment of consideration, Wu Jun made his decision without hesitation.
“Xinzhi, I know you’re eager to learn, and that’s commendable. But hey, it’s already mealtime. Let’s grab a bite first, and we can revisit this discussion afterward. No harm in waiting,” he said with a smile, attempting to steer the conversation elsewhere.
However, Su Xinzhi seemed determined to challenge Ruan Yang. With a forced smile, he remarked, “Director, that doesn’t seem fair. You’ve already reviewed my work and Ziq’s. Isn’t it only right to take a look at Ruan Yang’s as well?”
He shot a glance at Ruan Yang, his eyes glinting with icy disdain. “Besides, I genuinely want to learn from her.”
Let’s see what kind of masterpiece this commoner could possibly produce.
Under Su Xinzhi’s insistent gaze, Jing Ziq reluctantly stepped forward, stammering awkwardly, “Y-yes, Director. I… I’d also like to see what Ruan Yang has… has filmed.”
He avoided meeting Ruan Yang’s eyes.
With things having reached this point, Wu Jun felt it would be unreasonable not to take a look.
Before he could respond, Ruan Yang proactively placed the camera in his hands.
“Then I’ll trouble you, Director,” she said softly.
Wu Jun’s admiration for Ruan Yang grew even more. He smiled and turned on the camera’s display to review the footage.
The surroundings fell into an abrupt silence as everyone waited for the director’s reaction.
After what felt like an eternity, they watched as the smile on Wu Jun’s face gradually faded, replaced by a solemn expression.
Seeing this, Su Xinzhi inwardly rejoiced.
The director’s expression is so grim clearly, he’s unimpressed.
Just as I thought. With Ruan Yang’s background, there’s no way she got into this crew through legitimate means. How could someone like her possibly produce anything worthwhile?
The thought lifted Su Xinzhi’s spirits, and he let out an unrestrained scoff.
“Seems like spending a long time filming doesn’t necessarily guarantee quality work, huh.”
