After Transmigrating into a Ridiculous Alpha, I Saved My Aloof Omega Wife - Chapter 85
The night outside was pitch black, with the entire neighborhood faintly shrouded in the shadows of trees. The room was quiet and cramped, illuminated only by the dim yellow light overhead.
Jiang Muyan blinked her dazed eyes at Cheng Jianli’s words before abruptly pulling her onto the bed.
She wrapped her arms around Cheng Jianli from behind, then pressed her dry lips roughly against the back of her neck.
Cheng Jianli: “!”
She wasn’t in heat at the moment, so her scent gland wasn’t swollen just slightly flushed. Yet, the sweet fragrance of mango still wafted from it.
Jiang Muyan answered her earlier question in a whisper: “Of course I want you, Teacher Cheng.”
Cheng Jianli’s heart trembled faintly. “Why?”
Jiang Muyan said, “Because I’m scared of pain.”
Cheng Jianli: “?”
“What do you mean?” She turned over to face Jiang Muyan directly and only then noticed how flushed and feverish her face was, her mood visibly sullen.
Alphas in rut were always like this gloomy, irritable, and desperate to mark an omega.
Jiang Muyan hesitated before confessing, “The thought of an inhibitor needle piercing my vein terrifies me.”
Cheng Jianli: “…”
“I’ve done it many times. It’s not that bad.”
Jiang Muyan sounded guilty. “Still, no. We made a deal you promised to help me through my rut.” Her fingers fiddled with Cheng Jianli’s forest-green bedsheet, its soothing hue both eye-pleasing and lovely. “I feel awful, Teacher Cheng. Won’t you stay with me?”
When Jiang Muyan acted spoiled, she really went all out just as she could be utterly infuriating when she wanted.
Cheng Jianli relented. “Then, do you want to eat first? Uncle Liu brought you plenty of food.”
“I don’t want to.” Jiang Muyan found Cheng Jianli’s blanket incredibly warm, its faint fruity scent soothing her restless mood. “Teacher Cheng, I love your pheromones so much, but your clothes are too thick.”
Cheng Jianli lowered her gaze, already knowing what she wanted, Jiang Muyan’s eager stare made it obvious.
That bashful yet expectant expression was all too familiar to her.
So she took the initiative, placing the hem of her white hoodie into Jiang Muyan’s hand.
Jiang Muyan immediately flushed, clutching the fabric as she feigned ignorance. “Teacher Cheng, what are you doing?”
Cheng Jianli replied impassively, “Take it off.”
Jiang Muyan pretended to be shocked. “Why?”
Frowning, Cheng Jianli said calmly, “Do it or not. This is your only chance tonight.”
Jiang Muyan acted immediately, though she still murmured shyly, “You’re so impatient, Teacher Cheng. This doesn’t feel right.”
Cheng Jianli: “…”
If it was so wrong, she shouldn’t have taken the hoodie.
But Jiang Muyan wasn’t done. In a small voice, she asked, “Do you, still want to keep this one on?”
She was referring to the moon-patterned innerwear, the one she had personally bought for Cheng Jianli.
Cheng Jianli had expected this. She met Jiang Muyan’s gaze silently before saying, “If you want to, hurry up.”
Then, as if indulging her further, she added, “I’m in a rush right now.”
Jiang Muyan wore an “I knew it” expression, her gaze fixated with infatuation on Cheng Jianli’s front as she reached around to slowly undo the clasp at her back.
Cheng Jianli clearly heard Jiang Muyan swallow hard before the flimsy undergarment was tossed to the side of the bed.
Only the evening wind remained in the grove outside the apartment complex, howling against the old window frame. Jiang Muyan scrambled off the bed with a series of thump-thump-thumps, drawing the curtains and switching off the dim overhead light.
The room plunged into darkness in an instant.
Perhaps this was for the best at least Cheng Jianli wouldn’t feel as embarrassed.
But when Jiang Muyan’s fingers actually began tracing over her skin, she still thought this woman was utterly shameless.
How on earth did I get used to this?
Cheng Jianli’s cheeks flushed faintly as she pressed down on Jiang Muyan’s hand. “By the way, call Uncle Liu so he doesn’t worry.”
Jiang Muyan responded vaguely, her thumb and forefinger cradling soft, fragrant flesh, pushing upward to let it mound and sway in the air. She nuzzled into Cheng Jianli’s neck, inhaling deeply. “Teacher Cheng, your pheromones are so sweet.”
Alphas in their rut were particularly obsessed with an omega’s scent. Jiang Muyan’s symptoms were milder, she just craved closeness.
Cheng Jianli said, “Get some rest. I’ll stay with you tonight.”
Jiang Muyan recalled how she had temporarily marked Cheng Jianli during her heat. Now that she was in rut, Cheng Jianli was naturally staying by her side.
Seems like signing that contract was pretty useful after all.
Jiang Muyan grinned foolishly. “Teacher Cheng, you’re the best.”
Cheng Jianli lowered her eyes. “Weren’t you mad at me earlier? Are you still upset?”
Mention of the day’s events brought a flicker of confusion to Jiang Muyan’s gaze. “I wasn’t really mad. I just didn’t like that person coming to the egg tart shop specifically to see you.”
Cheng Jianli asked, “Why?”
Jiang Muyan’s ring and middle fingers pressed together, causing a small, adorable pearl to slip through the gap. Cheng Jianli shuddered as Jiang Muyan answered honestly, “I was afraid her pheromones would cling to you again. No one else knows you’re an omega, what if she accidentally released her scent and triggered your heat?”
“Her pheromone compatibility with me is probably very low,” Cheng Jianli said. “I’ve smelled her scent before. It didn’t affect me much.”
Jiang Muyan asked, “What about compared to mine?”
Cheng Jianli replied, “There’s no comparison.”
Jiang Muyan murmured shyly, “So my pheromones are more attractive to you?”
Cheng Jianli smiled faintly and humored her. “Mhm.”
Sure enough, Jiang Muyan immediately brightened, the day’s gloom completely forgotten.
That night, Cheng Jianli soothed Jiang Muyan with her pheromones.
By midnight, Jiang Muyan had improved significantly, the restless agitation in her chest replaced by a pleasant, soothing comfort.
An omega’s pheromones were indeed far more effective than suppressants.
Jiang Muyan understood this fact all too well now.
A few days later, Jiang Muyan said to Cheng Jianli, “Teacher Cheng, promise me you won’t pay attention to that person. There’s something off about the way she acts around you.”
Cheng Jianli, busy with homework at the desk, replied, “She’s in Class 9, right? We probably won’t cross paths much.”
Jiang Muyan pouted. “That’s not the point. Just promise me.”
“Alright, I promise you,” Cheng Jianli said casually. After all, she had no particular thoughts about Shi Ting to begin with. She picked up the math workbook, “I’ve marked some problems for you. Do them now.”
Jiang Muyan took it over. Nowadays, she had a clear grasp of these problems even the function questions that used to give her headaches. She could solve two parts of them now, maintaining her test scores around 135 points.
Cheng Jianli said, “The final exams are in a month. You need to focus on reviewing.”
Jiang Muyan, full of determination, declared, “I’m going to make it into the top ten in our grade!”
Cheng Jianli looked up, “Mm.”
Jiang Muyan scratched her head, then added shyly, “And then you can watch a movie with me without clothes.”
Cheng Jianli: “…”
“You’re so perverted,” Cheng Jianli said seriously. “Is there really nothing else in your head? Like studying for your own sake?”
“Of course there is!” Jiang Muyan continued, “I want to get into C University with you!”
Touched, Cheng Jianli softened her tone, “That’s more like it.”
A week later, Shi Ting indeed came to Class 2 to find Cheng Jianli.
It was during the long break between classes. Jiang Muyan had just run off to the back playground to play badminton with Tang Yu and the others, leaving the classroom mostly empty.
Remembering her promise to Jiang Muyan, Cheng Jianli said she wouldn’t go out.
But Shi Ting kept waiting at the door. More and more people entered Class 2, seemingly aware that she was there for Cheng Jianli.
Cheng Jianli lifted her clear, bright eyes and glanced toward the entrance.
Shi Ting’s hands were behind her back, as if hiding something.
Rong Rong peeked over from behind, “Class rep, she’s been waiting for a long time. Maybe you should go see what she wants?”
Cheng Jianli asked, “Isn’t class about to start?”
Rong Rong checked her watch, “No, there’s still over ten minutes.”
Reluctantly, Cheng Jianli stood up and walked to the door, frowning.
She planned to say a few words and leave.
Seeing Cheng Jianli approach, Shi Ting’s eyes lit up with joy, “Are you busy? I thought you didn’t want to see me.”
Cheng Jianli replied, “Sorry, I was doing homework.” Her tone was calm. “What do you need?”
“You’re so diligent,” Shi Ting said sincerely. “I heard you’re the top student in the grade. That’s amazing.”
Cheng Jianli: “Mm.”
Shi Ting observed Cheng Jianli her delicate features, snow-white skin, and the cool, composed way she spoke so different from anyone she’d dated before.
She said, “So, I play the piano, right? A few days ago, I got two tickets to a piano concert. Would you like to go with me?”
Cheng Jianli barely hesitated before refusing, “No, thank you. I don’t have time. The finals are coming up.”
Shi Ting persisted, “It won’t take much time, just an afternoon.”
Cheng Jianli politely repeated, “Really, no need.”
Seeing Cheng Jianli’s firm disinterest, Shi Ting sighed, “Alright then.”
Cheng Jianli said, “I’ll head back now.”
With that, she turned and returned to the classroom.
The whole exchange lasted less than five minutes. Shi Ting sighed, holding the two tickets as she walked downstairs, where she ran into Shen Xiaohui. Shen Xiaohui was wearing a blue plaid skirt today, her chestnut hair cascading down, with light makeup on.
She seemed to know what had happened and approached Shi Ting with a smile, “Hello.”
Shi Ting saw the girl greeting her and, though slightly puzzled, nodded in response: “Hello.”
“So, were you just trying to ask Cheng Jianli out?” Shen Xiaohui’s voice was gentle, like a charming little cat.
Shi Ting replied, “Yeah, I wanted to invite her to a concert, but she turned me down, saying she didn’t have time.”
Shen Xiaohui leaned in closer: “Then you must know Jiang Muyan is Cheng Jianli’s deskmate, right?”
Shi Ting said, “I know. I just transferred here a week ago, but I’ve seen Jiang Muyan around. Seems like she and Cheng Jianli are pretty close?”
“Exactly. I want to pursue Jiang Muyan,” Shen Xiaohui answered smoothly. “So I wanted to ask are you also trying to chase Cheng Jianli?”
Shi Ting avoided a direct answer, simply saying, “She’s incredibly beautiful. I really like her.”
Shen Xiaohui gave a noncommittal smile: “But her family favors sons over daughters, and they’re dirt poor. Plus, there’s endless family drama. Are you sure you want to go after her?”
Shi Ting frowned slightly, as if hesitating: “Really?”
Shen Xiaohui said, “Yeah, haven’t you noticed she can’t even afford a decent dress?”
Shi Ting replied, “I’ve had girlfriends before, and it was fine. Besides, I’m just testing the waters no guarantee I’ll succeed anyway.”
“If you’re serious about pursuing her, maybe I can help?” Shen Xiaohui tilted her head slightly. “On the condition that you help me chase Jiang Muyan.”
Shi Ting said, “Of course,” but then immediately looked troubled. “But I don’t know Jiang Muyan at all. I just transferred here.”
Shen Xiaohui waved it off: “No problem. If you can win over Cheng Jianli, then I won’t have any trouble getting Jiang Muyan.” The thought of how Cheng Jianli and Jiang Muyan were always glued together whether at school or after leaving her no opening, only deepened her resentment toward Cheng Jianli. “You’re planning to confess to Cheng Jianli properly, right?”
Shi Ting sighed in frustration: “I wanted to take it slow, but she’s not giving me any chances at all.”
