After Transmigrating into a Ridiculous Alpha, I Saved My Aloof Omega Wife - Chapter 86
“What’s the big deal? Sometimes a straightforward confession works better than taking things slow,” Shen Xiaohui said with an air of experience.
As the two were talking, several students from Class 4 walked up behind them. Spotting Shen Xiaohui, their faces lit up with delight. “Hey, isn’t that Xiaohui? What are you doing standing here?”
Most students in Class 4 weren’t academically strong, but many came from wealthy families.
Shen Xiaohui shot a sidelong glance at the boy in front. “None of your business. Mind your own.”
The boy chuckled nervously. “Wouldn’t dare, wouldn’t dare.”
With her sweet and adorable looks, Shen Xiaohui was popular among many senior-year boys.
When the boy noticed Shi Ting, he paused for a moment before asking, “You’re the new transfer student?”
Shi Ting nodded.
“Welcome,” the boy said, slinging an arm around Shen Xiaohui’s shoulder and giving Shi Ting a casual wave. “We’re hitting the bar after school. Wanna come?”
Shi Ting shook her head. “No, thanks.”
The boy shrugged and turned back to Shen Xiaohui. “What about you, Xiaohui?”
“Sure, why not? I’ve been bored lately,” Shen Xiaohui replied with a yawn.
Shi Ting turned to leave but paused to remind Shen Xiaohui, “Don’t forget our deal. I’ll come find you in Class 2 later.”
Shen Xiaohui knew exactly what she meant, she was supposed to help Shi Ting pursue Jiang Muyan, while Shi Ting would help her chase Cheng Jianli.
The boy frowned. “What’s with the secret talk?”
“Nothing,” Shen Xiaohui said dismissively.
Her skirt fluttered slightly as she turned, revealing her slender, snow-white legs. “I’m heading back to class.”
“Wait, I’ve got one more thing to ask,” the boy grabbed her arm, grinning ingratiatingly. “Listen, sis, didn’t you promise to get me Cheng Jianli’s contact info the other day? Any luck?”
The boy had a crush on Cheng Jianli too, though his interest was purely superficial.
Cheng Jianli, with her cool and striking beauty, was the undisputed school belle of Hongchuan No. 7 High. He’d been itching to get to know her but never had the chance.
Since Shen Xiaohui was in Class 2, he figured she might have a way to get Cheng Jianli’s details or at least some useful intel.
Shen Xiaohui rolled her eyes. Now that she was helping Shi Ting pursue Cheng Jianli, she couldn’t care less about the boy’s request. “What? You seriously think you’ve got a shot with her?”
“Even if it’s not serious, one night would be enough,” the boy smirked, his intentions far from pure. “I’ve noticed Cheng Jianli’s figure is unreal. A few times when she walked past me, I could even catch a whiff of her perfume. Damn.”
The other boys behind him chimed in eagerly. “Hell yeah! I saw her in just a T-shirt during P.E. once her body’s insane, and her skin’s so fair!”
Shen Xiaohui crossed her arms, watching them practically drool with disgust. “So what? Plenty of girls have great figures.”
The boy grinned. “But Cheng Jianli’s never dated, right? She’s gotta be untouched.”
Shen Xiaohui narrowed her eyes. “What are you planning?”
The boy waggled his eyebrows. “Come on, sis, hook me up. Get me her number.”
“Maybe if I feel like it,” Shen Xiaohui said flatly.
The boy bargained, “I’ll do your homework for two weeks. Deal?”
“Let’s talk about it later,” Shen Xiaohui turned away, not in the mood to help this guy get Cheng Jianli’s contact info. Right now, she needed to build a good relationship with Shi Ting.
It was obvious Shi Ting had known Cheng Jianli for a long time her chances were way better than this guy’s.
Jiang Muyan had just presented as an alpha, and there were probably countless omegas lining up to pursue her. She had to make her move fast.
Shen Xiaohui silently steeled her resolve.
Jiang Muyan had recently gone through her rut. Just to be safe, she’d asked Uncle Liu to pick up some alpha suppressants from the specialty store.
If she went into rut again and Cheng Jianli wasn’t around, at least she’d have a backup plan.
After school, Jiang Muyan and Cheng Jianli sat together in the private car. Jiang Muyan cheerfully asked, “Teacher Cheng, winter break starts right after finals. Where do you want to go?”
Cheng Jianli replied, “Let’s not go anywhere. We can talk about trips after the college entrance exams.”
Jiang Muyan pouted. “But winter break is so long. Taking three or four days off shouldn’t be a big deal.”
“You can relax at home watch movies, go shopping, things like that,” Cheng Jianli suggested.
Jiang Muyan sighed. “That sounds so boring.”
Seeing Jiang Muyan’s troubled expression, Cheng Jianli suddenly lifted her gaze, her long lashes fluttering slightly, her eyes shimmering with mischief. “I know a place.”
Jiang Muyan blinked. “Where?”
Cheng Jianli curved her lips. “The ends of the earth. Want to come with me?”
Jiang Muyan froze, as if those words held some irresistible magic, making her thoughts spiral uncontrollably.
The ends of the earth? Cheng Jianli wanted her to go to the ends of the earth with her?
Jiang Muyan’s face flushed red.
Was her wife teasing her again?
They’d agreed not to date in high school, yet Cheng Jianli kept saying things like this.
Jiang Muyan wanted to ask what was really going on. She’d felt something was off last time too did Cheng Jianli actually have feelings for her?
If so, maybe they could redefine their relationship.
Jiang Muyan felt like she finally had an answer to that question.
From start to finish, she’d only ever wanted Cheng Jianli to be her wife.
But Jiang Muyan’s mind was always single-tracked, always at Cheng Jianli’s mercy. Shyly, she mumbled, “W-well, it’s not like I’d say no. If it’s just the two of us, of course I’d go with you.”
Cheng Jianli tilted her head. “Really?”
“Really,” Jiang Muyan said, then laughed awkwardly, scratching her head. “But, uh, this feels kinda sudden. You’re just inviting me to the ends of the earth like that?”
I haven’t even told you I like you yet.
Jiang Muyan opened her mouth, about to say something, but Cheng Jianli’s soft, rosy lips parted first. “I meant the ‘Ends of the Earth’ in H City. What were you thinking?”
Jiang Muyan’s head snapped up in shock.
H City’s “Ends of the Earth” was a famous tourist spot.
“See? You really are such a pervert,” Cheng Jianli teased, her snow-pale face breaking into a sly but harmless smile. “The moment I take the initiative, you lose your mind.”
!!!
Jiang Muyan groaned and turned away, staring out the car window.
So it wasn’t a confession just another joke at her expense.
Cheng Jianli prodded, “What’s wrong? You’re not going to admit it?”
Jiang Muyan knew it was true, but she refused to say it out loud. “I’m not,” she muttered.
Cheng Jianli arched a brow. “Really?”
“Really,” Jiang Muyan insisted.
Cheng Jianli propped her chin on her hand. “Even after cremation, that mouth of yours would still be intact, huh?”
“Teacher Cheng, you always trick me on purpose,” Jiang Muyan said pitifully. “If you keep lying to me, I won’t believe you anymore.”
Cheng Jianli: “…”
Though she called it a trick, Cheng Jianli had her own selfish reasons.
Even when Jiang Muyan took the bait, she always acted shy, as if she didn’t dare to actually do anything to her.
Cheng Jianli had been waiting for this day for a long time. She knew exactly what was on her mind but did Jiang Muyan?
Last time she asked Jiang Muyan what their relationship was, Jiang Muyan had gone a whole month without giving her an answer.
Had she forgotten? Or was she deliberately avoiding it?
Cheng Jianli said calmly, “Then I won’t joke with you anymore.”
“Don’t!” Jiang Muyan actually loved it when Cheng Jianli talked more. She quickly added, “I was just saying nonsense. Hehe, Teacher Cheng, I like chatting with you.”
Cheng Jianli murmured, “Then have you figured out my question?”
Jiang Muyan blinked. “What question?”
Cheng Jianli sighed, thinking Jiang Muyan still hadn’t given it any thought. “Never mind, it’s nothing.”
Jiang Muyan scratched her head in confusion, then suddenly brightened. “How about we go to City C during winter break? We can check out C University while we’re at it!”
Cheng Jianli took a deep breath. “That’s not what I meant.”
Jiang Muyan grinned. “You’ve always wanted to get into C University, right? What’s wrong with scouting it out early?” She leaned closer, eyes sparkling. “Teacher Cheng, don’t you want to see the university we’ll be living at together in the future?”
Cheng Jianli said softly, “I do.”
“Then let’s go during winter break!” Jiang Muyan beamed, her smile utterly sincere.
Cheng Jianli had no way to resist her. She could only let out a quiet “Mm.”
After finishing their homework at home, Jiang Muyan went to shower while Cheng Jianli sat on the sofa, lost in thought.
Jiang Muyan had been throwing her into turmoil lately. She didn’t know what to do was it really so hard to define their relationship?
They weren’t anything official, yet they’d already done so much.
Cheng Jianli had never imagined she’d end up like this.
No matter what answer Jiang Muyan gave her, she would accept it.
If they were just ordinary classmates, she’d keep her distance from Jiang Muyan from now on.
If they were close friends, she’d do her best to help Jiang Muyan get into university.
But what if she considered something more?
Cheng Jianli stared blankly at the azure-blue walls, the cloud-soft carpet beneath her feet.
Could she and Jiang Muyan, possibly end up together in the future?
Suddenly, her phone buzzed, snapping her out of her thoughts.
She unlocked it and saw a message from Shi Ting.
Shi Ting: [Sorry to bother you so late. Are you asleep?]
After a moment’s hesitation, Cheng Jianli replied: [About to sleep.]
Shi Ting: [About the concert tickets I gave you the other day, I didn’t mean anything by it. I just genuinely wanted to invite you.]
Cheng Jianli responded politely: [Thank you for the invitation, but I don’t have time.]
A while later, Shi Ting sent another message: [Actually, I know you’ve already rejected me.]
Cheng Jianli stared at the words on her screen, an inexplicable weariness settling in her chest.
Another notification chimed: [But I still want to ask can we at least be friends?]
Without hesitation, Cheng Jianli replied: [No.]
After sending that, it took a long time before Shi Ting responded again.
Shi Ting: [“May I ask, do you have someone you like?”]
Cheng Jianli’s fingers hovered over the keyboard for a long time before finally typing a single character: [“Yes.”]
After sending the reply, she tucked her phone into her backpack just as Jiang Muyan emerged from the shower.
Her hair was wrapped in a towel, and she wore an expensive silk robe, her cheeks flushed from the steam. “Teacher Cheng, the bathroom’s free now!”
Cheng Jianli: “Mm.”
Yes, she had someone she liked someone who was simple, sincere, and an utterly hopeless fool.
Jiang Muyan noticed Cheng Jianli seemed distracted as she walked over and couldn’t help asking, “Teacher Cheng, what’s wrong?”
Cheng Jianli replied, “Nothing.”
Jiang Muyan frowned. “You look kind of down. Are you feeling okay?”
“I’m fine,” Cheng Jianli said. “I’ll just go to bed after my shower.”
“At least dry your hair first,” Jiang Muyan insisted. “I’ll help you blow-dry it when you’re done.”
Cheng Jianli nodded.
About half an hour later, she finished showering and stepped out, having already applied her scent-blocking patch.
Jiang Muyan was sprawled on the bed scrolling through her phone, laughing and pounding the mattress as Luo Jiajia sent her funny forum posts.
If not for the bed’s sturdy frame, Cheng Jianli would’ve worried Jiang Muyan might punch a hole straight through it.
Suddenly, Jiang Muyan caught a familiar, crisp fragrance in the air and stopped laughing. “Huh? Teacher Cheng, when did you finish?”
“Just now,” Cheng Jianli said.
Jiang Muyan immediately sat up, tossing her phone aside. “Come here, then. I’ll dry your hair.”
Cheng Jianli sat on the edge of the bed, feeling Jiang Muyan gently gather her hair and carefully blow-dry it.
She didn’t need to look to know Jiang Muyan’s expression right now was utterly focused.
