After Transmigrating into a Ridiculous Alpha, I Saved My Aloof Omega Wife - Chapter 25.1
Will she differentiate into an alpha, omega, or beta?
Jiang Muyan scratched her head, wondering why Cheng Jianli was asking her this question hadn’t they already discussed it back at the villa?
With cautious unease, Jiang Muyan asked, “Is this a trick question?”
Cheng Jianli: “…No.”
“I just want to gauge boundaries based on this,” Cheng Jianli said softly, flipping through her textbook. “If you don’t want to answer, forget it.”
Gauge boundaries?
What did that mean?
Jiang Muyan remembered the system mentioning that Cheng Jianli would differentiate into an omega. If she said she’d become an alpha, would Cheng Jianli start keeping her distance?
No way!!!
Jiang Muyan blurted out, “I’ll differentiate into an omega!”
Cheng Jianli: “…?”
Cheng Jianli asked, “Really?”
Jiang Muyan wasn’t good at lying, especially in front of Cheng Jianli. She stammered, “Y-yeah.”
Cheng Jianli studied her for a moment with a slight frown. “I seem to recall you telling me at your place that you’d differentiate into an alpha.”
“That was just nonsense,” Jiang Muyan fibbed. “Actually, my medical report says I’ll be an omega, hahahahaha!”
Cheng Jianli: “…”
“Are you sure?” Cheng Jianli asked seriously.
Seeing Cheng Jianli’s expression, Jiang Muyan faltered. “Of course! Don’t you believe me?”
“No,” Cheng Jianli lowered her gaze. “If you say you’re an omega, then you’re an omega.”
“What about you?” Jiang Muyan asked.
Cheng Jianli fell silent, as if considering.
Jiang Muyan was someone who hadn’t even paid attention in biology class, she’d even mistaken scent-blocking patches for regular bandages. Telling her that she’d differentiate into an omega probably wouldn’t matter.
The memory made Cheng Jianli smile faintly. She glanced at the back of Jiang Muyan’s neck, where the transparent edge of a scent-blocking patch was still faintly visible.
Mango-scented just like her own pheromones.
So Cheng Jianli answered softly, “Same as you.”
Like Jiang Muyan, she’d be an omega.
The conversation should have ended there, but Jiang Muyan froze in shock at Cheng Jianli’s reply.
Wait, her wife had just told her the truth?!
A sudden pang of guilt hit her. Cheng Jianli had been honest, and here she was lying!
Jiang Muyan asked in disbelief, “You’ll differentiate into an omega?”
Cheng Jianli: “Mm.”
Jiang Muyan scratched her head, her expression conflicted. Noticing this, Cheng Jianli asked, “You seem like you have something to say.”
Jiang Muyan nodded eagerly.
Cheng Jianli: “Go ahead.”
Jiang Muyan suddenly blushed, looking shy. “Can I see your medical report? I want to know what an omega looks like.”
Cheng Jianli: “…”
“I didn’t bring it, it’s at home,” Cheng Jianli said. “Don’t tell anyone about this.”
Jiang Muyan let out a disappointed “Oh.” Cheng Jianli turned back to her math book, but after a brief silence, Jiang Muyan suddenly asked with a conflicted expression, “Teacher Cheng… what would you do if I were an alpha?”
Without looking up from her book, Cheng Jianli answered seriously, “I’d keep my distance from you.”
Jiang Muyan was shocked: “??? What?!” She stood up, looking aggrieved, and said, “Why are you keeping your distance from me? Can’t there be pure friendship between an alpha and an omega?!”
Cheng Jianli: “…”
The people around them were chatting noisily, and no one paid them any attention.
Cheng Jianli was worried Jiang Muyan might get too worked up perhaps even have another episode like last time so she replied calmly, “Omegas blush, feel uncomfortable, and go weak in the knees when they smell an alpha’s pheromones during their heat. Do you really think that can be pure?”
Jiang Muyan declared righteously, “Of course it can be pure!” She said indignantly, “Teacher Cheng, even if I’ve differentiated into an alpha, I can still maintain pure thoughts toward you at all times!”
Cheng Jianli’s eyelid twitched: “…Well, thank you for that.”
After saying this, Cheng Jianli picked up her pen and started working on problems, letting the atmosphere freeze over again.
Jiang Muyan, seeing her wife fall silent, suddenly panicked.
What was going on? Had she said something wrong?
She glanced sideways at Cheng Jianli, who still wore an expressionless face, her fingers turning the pages of her math book slowly.
Jiang Muyan ventured, “Teacher Cheng…”
Cheng Jianli responded, “What is it?”
Jiang Muyan asked cautiously, “You’re not mad, are you?”
Cheng Jianli frowned. “No, why would I be?”
“I feel like you’re a little upset,” Jiang Muyan said nervously. “Did I say something wrong?”
Cheng Jianli replied, “No, I just think you made a good point.” She lowered her gaze. “There can be pure friendship between alphas and omegas.”
Hearing that Cheng Jianli wasn’t angry, Jiang Muyan instantly relaxed, her tone even tinged with pride. “See? Hahahaha! Actually, some alphas are really smart, right? Like me, if I were an alpha, I think I’d be amazing!”
Surprisingly, Cheng Jianli actually considered this for a moment before answering, “Hmm, I think you’d be amazing too.”
Jiang Muyan, buoyed by the praise, was about to say more when Cheng Jianli added, “If I get the chance, I’ll try interacting with other alphas too.”
“???” Jiang Muyan’s expression immediately turned frantic. “Why?!”
Cheng Jianli said, “Didn’t you say alphas are smart? I still have a lot of homework problems I don’t understand. We could learn from each other.”
Jiang Muyan blurted out, “If you don’t understand something, you can just ask me!”
Cheng Jianli: “…Did you forget you scored 43 on your last math test?”
Jiang Muyan: “…”
Damn, she almost forgot she was an academic disaster.
So Jiang Muyan switched to a serious tone. “Teacher Cheng, actually, some alphas are really bad news. I don’t want you to experience the cruelty of society at such a young age, so let’s just forget it.”
Cheng Jianli: “…Is that so?”
Jiang Muyan nodded firmly. “Yeah!”
Though she didn’t fully understand how the ABO world worked, deep down, she didn’t want Cheng Jianli getting close to other alphas.
Cheng Jianli gave her a quiet look. “Class is about to start. Go read your book.”
During the long break, in Class 1.
Xu Yinghe had been listless the entire class, and even now, she sat alone, staring blankly at the pen in her hand.
Luo Jiajia bounced over to Xu Yinghe’s seat and nudged her shoulder with her elbow. “Xu Yinghe, I need to go see the physics teacher. Come with me,” she said.
Xu Yinghe felt inexplicably irritable perhaps Jiang Muyan’s words before class had unsettled her thoughts, or perhaps it was because she knew You Xia was waiting for her at the corner of the back playground right now.
It was the first time she’d ever felt this agitated.
“Xu Yinghe?” Luo Jiajia called again when she didn’t respond.
Xu Yinghe snapped out of it. “What?”
Luo Jiajia whined, “I didn’t turn in my physics homework, and the teacher wants me to go to his office. Come with me.”
Xu Yinghe sighed. “Why didn’t you do it? I reminded you days ago to finish it.”
“Because I couldn’t figure any of it out! It’s so hard…” Luo Jiajia pouted. “If only Jiang Muyan could come with me. She probably didn’t do it either.”
Xu Yinghe stood up. “Not necessarily. Her mom hired her a tutor, she finishes all her assignments now.”
The two left their seats and headed toward the physics teacher’s office. Along the way, Luo Jiajia asked, “By the way, you seem distracted today. Is something wrong?”
Xu Yinghe brushed it off. “Do I?”
“You do! I had to call your name like five times just now.”
“It’s nothing. My dad’s been away on business, so I’ve been home alone. My sleep schedule’s been off.”
Luo Jiajia nodded knowingly. “Then get some rest early tonight. Don’t stay up so late you get dark circles.”
When they reached the physics office, Luo Jiajia went in alone, leaving Xu Yinghe outside.
The long break between classes was always lively, full of students roughhousing. Amid the noise, Xu Yinghe checked her watch, ten minutes had already passed, leaving twenty before the next class.
Was that person… really waiting for her at the back playground?
Xu Yinghe frowned. Even with her delicate features, the crease between her brows carried a refined sharpness. She leaned against the wall as students passed by in waves, each one grating on her nerves.
Back Playground
Summer was always stifling, and today was no exception. The thick canopy of leaves overhead wove a lush emerald tapestry.
You Xia had been sitting alone on the cool concrete steps for a long time. Only when she finally saw Xu Yinghe appear did her eyes suddenly brighten.
Xu Yinghe approached, spotting You Xia standing there with a faint smile.
For some reason, the irritation in her chest flared even stronger.
“What do you want?” Xu Yinghe spoke first, glancing at her watch.
Fifteen minutes until class.
The back playground was usually deserted during breaks everyone played up front, leaving just the two of them here.
You Xia scrambled to her feet. She was about fifteen centimeters shorter than Xu Yinghe, and whenever she looked up at her, she couldn’t help but think how flawlessly beautiful she was.
There was an untouchable aloofness in her gaze.
“I thought you wouldn’t come,” You Xia said softly.
Xu Yinghe studied her coolly. You Xia was dressed as plainly as ever, the only striking thing about her being her delicate face, her hair tucked shyly behind her ears.
“Are you here to return my gym clothes?” Xu Yinghe said. “I already told you, just throw them away.”
You Xia looked somewhat nervous and uneasy, her cheeks flushed as she glanced at Xu Yinghe before quickly averting her gaze. Softly, she said, “…I didn’t throw it away. I washed it, it’s very clean.”
With that, she handed over the bag beside her, which contained the school uniform.
Xu Yinghe took it indifferently, and You Xia spoke again, “That day at the bar, you only told me your name. I was thinking…”
“How did you end up talking to Jiang Muyan?” Xu Yinghe interrupted, seemingly uninterested in her topic.
