After Transmigrating into a Ridiculous Alpha, I Saved My Aloof Omega Wife - Chapter 24.2
Cheng Jianli considered it for a moment. She’d find time tomorrow to retrieve it.
The next day.
Jiang Muyan woke up with a splitting headache. Struggling to get out of bed, she suddenly realized she was going to be late.
“!!!”
She hastily grabbed her schoolbag and uniform, bolting downstairs while shouting, “Uncle Liu! I’m gonna be late for class!”
Uncle Liu was downstairs preparing breakfast for her. “You’re awake, Miss?”
“Hurry, hurry, take me to school! First period is math today,” Jiang Muyan groaned, remembering the last time the math teacher made her stand in punishment. “I only have an hour left!”
Hearing the urgency, Uncle Liu quickly acknowledged and rushed out to start the car.
Meanwhile, Jiang Muyan dashed into the bathroom to brush her teeth and wash her face. Just as she squeezed toothpaste onto her brush, the system’s voice abruptly echoed in her mind:
[Beep beep beep! Host, the male lead will be returning from his trip in a few days and transferring to Class 4.]
Jiang Muyan: “???”
Zhang Siyuan, the male lead, was coming back?
So soon?!
Zhang Siyuan was the novel’s male lead, Cheng Jianli’s cousin by title, though they shared no blood relation and weren’t even registered under the same household.
The system had tasked Jiang Muyan with ensuring the female lead and male lead ended up together. But how could Jiang Muyan let that scumbag bully her wife? He wasn’t even worthy.
Determined not to let Zhang Siyuan lay a finger on Cheng Jianli, she finished freshening up, gathered her things, and slid into the family’s Rolls-Royce.
“Miss, is your head still hurting?” Uncle Liu asked. “You drank far too much last night.”
“It’s fine, just a little dizzy when I first woke up,” Jiang Muyan replied. “Thanks for taking care of me last night, Uncle Liu.”
Uncle Liu smiled. “It wasn’t me who worked hard, it was Teacher Cheng. She was the one who really put in the effort.”
Jiang Muyan looked up in confusion. “Teacher Cheng?”
“That’s right. She was the one who brought you back from the bar last night.”
Her wife had picked her up from the bar?
Jiang Muyan froze. How had she completely forgotten about that? She only remembered attending Luo Jiajia’s birthday party and then getting drunk but everything after that was a blank.
Had she embarrassed herself in front of her wife?!
At that thought, Jiang Muyan immediately leaned forward, gripping the seat anxiously. “Uncle Liu, did Teacher Cheng really come to our house yesterday?”
Uncle Liu nodded. “Yes, she helped you inside.”
Jiang Muyan asked nervously, “Was she… angry?”
“Angry?” Uncle Liu thought for a moment. “Teacher Cheng didn’t seem to show much expression.”
No expression… That probably meant nothing serious had happened.
Jiang Muyan tended to act out when drunk, and she was worried she might have done something strange in front of Cheng Jianli.
But from the looks of it, at least she hadn’t scared her.
Jiang Muyan relaxed and leaned back into the seat. Uncle Liu drove swiftly, and they arrived at Hongchuan No.7 High School in no time.
After saying goodbye to Uncle Liu, she walked into the school building.
As soon as she reached the entrance of Class 2, Jiang Muyan spotted a girl with shoulder-length hair standing there, peering hesitantly into the classroom.
Jiang Muyan approached her. “Hey, do you need something?”
The girl, You Xia, turned around and froze for a moment upon seeing Jiang Muyan. “Um… Hi, I’m looking for someone.”
Jiang Muyan found her face somewhat familiar. “Wait, have we met before?”
Seeing that Jiang Muyan recognized her, You Xia relaxed slightly. “Y-yes, we saw each other during P.E. class. I’m You Xia.”
“Oh, I remember now!” Jiang Muyan broke into a bright smile. “Are you looking for my friend?”
Jiang Muyan’s warmth made You Xia feel a little comforted. She lowered her voice. “Yeah, I’m looking for Xu Yinghe. Is she… in this class?”
“Xu Yinghe isn’t here, she’s in Class 1,” Jiang Muyan checked her watch there were still twenty minutes before class. “Do you need something? I can take you to her.”
“I, I just wanted to return her uniform,” You Xia stammered, her cheeks flushing slightly at the mention of Jiang Muyan escorting her to Xu Yinghe. “I can go by myself.”
Jiang Muyan waved it off. “It’s fine. You don’t know anyone in Class 1, I’ll call her for you.”
“No, no! I just wanted to tell her… I’ll wait for her at the corner of the back field during the long break.” You Xia wasn’t holding the uniform, she must have planned to return it then. She gave Jiang Muyan a grateful look. “Could you pass that along? Thank you.”
“Sure. Which class are you in?”
“Class 4. I’m You Xia.” She quickly repeated her name.
Jiang Muyan nodded and turned to head to Class 1, but You Xia suddenly grabbed her arm.
Jiang Muyan: “?”
You Xia hesitated. “If… if she doesn’t want to come, could you tell her… that place is usually empty during the long break? No one would notice.”
Though Jiang Muyan didn’t understand the implication, she nodded. “Got it.”
You Xia thanked her again before Jiang Muyan finally left.
She quickly made her way to Class 1. The students at the door looked surprised to see her. “Miss Jiang, what brings you back?”
“I’m looking for Xu Yinghe,” Jiang Muyan craned her neck to scan the room. “Is she here?”
Xu Yinghe was handing in homework to the group leader when she heard her name. She turned and saw Jiang Muyan at the door.
Puzzled, she walked over. “Class is about to start, why are you here?”
“I’m just delivering a message,” Jiang Muyan said.
Seeing that she showed no signs of a hangover, Xu Yinghe teased, “You drank so much last night, yet you’re still this energetic.”
Reminded of the previous night, Jiang Muyan scratched her head sheepishly. “Let’s not talk about that. Someone’s looking for you.”
Xu Yinghe frowned. “Who?”
“You Xia, from Class 4. She said she’ll wait for you at the corner of the back field during the long break.”
At the name, Xu Yinghe stiffened slightly before replying in an unnatural tone, “Who’s You Xia?”
Jiang Muyan asked in confusion, “You don’t remember her? That girl from PE class a few weeks ago, you lent her your school uniform.”
Xu Yinghe replied coldly, “I’m not going.”
“She probably wants to return your uniform,” Jiang Muyan thought Xu Yinghe had forgotten, “and maybe thank you in person.”
Xu Yinghe hated this kind of lingering connection. She had clearly told the girl to just throw the uniform away, why go through the unnecessary trouble of returning it?
Xu Yinghe said, “There’s nothing to thank me for. I’m not going.”
Jiang Muyan had no idea what Xu Yinghe was thinking and simply added, “She said there aren’t many people around during the long break, so no one will notice you two.”
Xu Yinghe fell silent at that.
Indeed, if others saw her associating with a scholarship student like that, what would they think?
Jiang Muyan checked the time. “Class is about to start. I won’t say more, just don’t forget to go.”
Xu Yinghe watched Jiang Muyan leave without another word and turned back toward the classroom.
Jiang Muyan returned to Class 2 and saw Cheng Jianli already seated at her desk. She hurried over, dropped her backpack, and cheerfully greeted, “Good morning, Teacher Cheng!”
Cheng Jianli looked up at Jiang Muyan’s energetic demeanor and softly replied, “Morning.”
Today, Cheng Jianli had tied her hair into a low ponytail, her dark locks cascading softly over her shoulders. A faint, sweet fragrance lingered around her, a scent Jiang Muyan loved. Unable to resist, she scooted closer.
“What are you doing?” Cheng Jianli glanced at her, suddenly recalling the absurd things Jiang Muyan had said in the bathroom the night before.
Her cheeks inexplicably warmed.
Talk about dragging her into the bathtub and stripping her naked… Jiang Muyan really seemed like a pervert at heart.
Unfortunately, Jiang Muyan had no idea Cheng Jianli was reminiscing. She remained her usual earnest, kind self. “Teacher Cheng, thank you for picking me up from the bar last night. Uncle Liu told me everything.”
Cheng Jianli snapped out of her thoughts. “No need to thank me. Your friends called me, so I went.”
“It must’ve been Luo Jiajia and the others. I don’t know why they called you,” Jiang Muyan pulled out her math textbook and turned to her. “I was playing games with Tang Yu and the others last night and accidentally drank too much ended up completely wasted.”
“Are you still drunk?” Cheng Jianli asked. “I remember Uncle Liu made you hangover soup.”
Hangover soup?
Jiang Muyan had no memory of that either.
“Probably didn’t drink it, but I’m fine now.” Jiang Muyan flashed her silly, adorable grin. “Teacher Cheng, you’re seriously the best, coming to get me so late at night.”
“It’s nothing,” Cheng Jianli said. “Besides, you’re very kind too.”
“Thank you!” Thrilled by the praise, Jiang Muyan blurted, “I’ll keep working hard!”
Cheng Jianli: “…”
After a moment of studying her, Cheng Jianli suddenly said, “Can I ask you something?”
Jiang Muyan was flipping through her math book when she heard her and turned. “What is it?”
“You’ve taken our school’s differentiation test, right?” Cheng Jianli said calmly. “Will you present as an alpha, omega, or beta?”
