After Transmigrating Into A Novel, Not Only Did I Become An Omega, But I Also Provoked The Male Lead’s Mother - Chapter 10
“Let her go!”
The voice made Qin Yue’s tense heart relax slightly.
“Who the hell are you? I advise you to mind your own business!” the man snarled.
“Hmph, this is my omega. You dare to covet her? You’re asking for death!”
The man’s overly dramatic and cliché words made Qin Yue’s head snap up, her pupils contracting sharply.
Damn it, what bad luck! Why is it Ling Jingxi?!
“Ugh, it’s actually an Alpha O! What bad luck!” The man glanced at Ling Jingxi, then turned and stormed off, muttering curses.
If Qin Yue were a native of this world, facing the handsome, wealthy Ling Jingxi who had just saved her, she would undoubtedly feel herself falling for him.
But she knew Ling Jingxi was nothing more than a mad scientist obsessed with laws and regulations!
This couldn’t help but make her suspect this might all be part of some scheme.
“Senior, are you alright?” Ling Jingxi asked, supporting Qin Yue with concern. “You seem to be showing signs of a fever.”
“I’m fine, thank you!” Qin Yue said warily, waving her hand and trying to back away from the Male Lead. But the Alpha’s pheromones made her legs weak and tremble. As she stumbled backward, Ling Jingxi swiftly pulled her into his arms.
Qin Yue panicked and struggled fiercely, but Ling Jingxi’s arms were like iron clamps, holding her fast. Her struggles were like tickles to him, only heightening his arousal.
“Don’t worry, Senior. Your Junior Brother is always here to help!” Ling Jingxi felt the softness in his arms, his thoughts drifting. He subtly released pheromones, hoping to seduce Qin Yue into submission.
Just escaped the wolf’s den and fallen into the tiger’s lair!
Qin Yue seemed to sense something. She stopped struggling, held her breath to avoid inhaling the cedar-like pheromones emanating from Ling Jingxi, and forced herself to calm down.
“There’s a hotel nearby that happens to belong to my Ling family. Why don’t you come with me and get some rest?” Ling Jingxi assumed Qin Yue had lowered her guard, his heart swelling with delight. He asked, but already had a firm grip on her arm, trying to pull her away.
“Hey, what’s going on here?” a passerby asked, noticing something was amiss.
“This is my girlfriend,” Ling Jingxi declared shamelessly.
Seizing the opportunity, Qin Yue struggled free, quickly reached into her bag for an Inhibitor, rolled up her sleeve, and injected it into her arm.
In her haste, she administered the Inhibitor so quickly that it stung, causing two tears to well up in Qin Yue’s eyes.
The cool sensation of the Inhibitor brought Qin Yue back to her senses. Ever since her two encounters with the Mint-Scented Woman, she had learned the self-defense methods for Omegas in this world: always carry an Inhibitor.
The sudden turn of events darkened Ling Jingxi’s expression.
Qin Yue lowered her gaze, her voice hoarse as she addressed the passerby, “Please call the police!”
Noticing the suspicious look on Ling Jingxi’s face, the passerby immediately pulled out their phone and dialed the emergency number.
In this world, where Alpha pheromones exert a certain level of compulsion on Omegas, the government had enacted a series of protective laws for Omegas. Even harming an Omega could result in severe penalties.
Soon, police arrived on the scene.
Ling Jingxi was frustrated that the “duck” he’d almost caught had flown away, but he hadn’t actually done anything wrong. He explained to the police that he had come to rescue Qin Yue and detailed the entire incident.
The bystanders finally realized they had misunderstood Ling Jingxi.
The road surveillance footage proved it all. Everyone saw the video of Ling Jingxi’s heroic actions.
“Little girl, you’re safe thanks to this young man. Make sure you thank him properly,” the police officer said to Qin Yue.
Qin Yue nodded. With the police watching, she felt obligated to thank Ling Jingxi.
Because Qin Yue had thanked him, Ling Jingxi began to feel smug, thinking she had opened up to him.
The police, guided by the surveillance footage, moved to arrest the fleeing man.
After finishing the witness statement, Ling Jingxi turned to Qin Yue and said, “Senior, let me take you home!”
“Thank you, but there’s no need,” Qin Yue replied. She had already called Bai Zhi.
A few minutes later, Bai Zhi arrived by taxi, eyeing Ling Jingxi warily.
“I’m fine. Let’s go,” Qin Yue said, tugging at Bai Zhi’s sleeve.
The police officer nearby spoke highly of Ling Jingxi, and only then did Bai Zhi realize she had misunderstood him.
After thanking Ling Jingxi, Bai Zhi helped Qin Yue into the taxi and they drove off.
“I didn’t expect him to be so righteous,” Bai Zhi remarked in the taxi.
“Mm,” Qin Yue replied, remaining silent.
Bai Zhi saw Qin Yue looking listless and knew she was shaken. She let her lean against her shoulder to rest.
Qin Yue closed her eyes but didn’t fall asleep.
She was thick-skinned and carefree, but that didn’t mean she was stupid.
This whole situation felt off.
Why had Ling Jingxi appeared immediately when the incident happened?
And why would he be on this street in the middle of the night?
Either Ling Jingxi was involved in this, or he was some kind of creep stalking her and only showed up when he noticed something wrong.
Either way, it was terrifying when she thought about it.
Especially now that she remembered being followed down this same street by that hooded figure in black. Could that have been Ling Jingxi? Now that she thought about it, it was entirely possible!
Qin Yue was especially wary of Ling Jingxi because he was the murderer who killed her in the original story.
Back in her dorm room after a shower, Qin Yue finally relaxed.
Her arm was bruised from the forceful injection of the Inhibitor, and it still throbbed slightly when she touched it.
She pushed the thoughts aside. In a few days, she planned to go to the police station to check on the progress of her case. If they’d caught the man, that would be fine, but if they hadn’t…
Qin Yue hugged her blanket and gradually drifted off to sleep.
The next day was a weekend, and Qin Yue had planned to work part-time, but Bai Zhi insisted she take the day off.
Enjoying this rare leisure time, Qin Yue lay in bed all morning and then went to the library to study in the afternoon.
A day of rest quickly restored Qin Yue’s mood to normal.
On the third day, Qin Yue only had one large lecture in the morning. After class, she went to the police station to inquire about the case.
She had assumed that with surveillance footage, the police would quickly identify the suspect and make an arrest. But upon arriving at the station, they informed her that the case had been withdrawn entirely.
Her attempted sexual assault case had been dismissed!
Hearing this news, a wave of panic surged through Qin Yue.
The only person with such influence and resources could likely only be the wealthy and powerful Male Lead, Ling Jingxi.
Feeling flustered and unsure what to do, Qin Yue took a bus back to school.
Being targeted by the Male Lead was like being stalked by a cold, venomous snake—impossible to shake off!
Faced with such a powerful adversary, what could Qin Yue, a penniless student, possibly use to resist?
At worst, she could drop out and hide!
Qin Yue couldn’t believe that the Male Lead, at only eighteen years old, could already wield such overwhelming power—like he would in ten years!
Come to think of it, didn’t Ling Jingxi’s parents ever discipline him?! Right, if they had, he wouldn’t have grown up to be such a repulsive legalist!
Qin Yue sighed and strode toward the dormitory building.
From a distance, she saw a crowd gathered below her dormitory. She wondered what was happening.
Uninterested in joining the commotion, Qin Yue just wanted to return to her dorm and collapse on her bed. Just then, her phone rang.
“Hello, Bai Zhi, what’s wrong?” Qin Yue answered, already heading down to the dormitory lobby.
“Yueyue, where are you?” Bai Zhi asked anxiously.
“I’m just arriving at the dormitory. Did you need help buying something?”
Hearing this, Bai Zhi urgently interrupted, “Yueyue, don’t come back! You…”
Before Bai Zhi could finish, someone in the crowd spotted Qin Yue and shouted, “She’s here!”
Stunned, Qin Yue was pushed into the crowd.
At the center of the gathering, Qin Yue saw Ling Jingxi arranging candles in a heart shape on the ground, holding a massive bouquet of roses.
Confused, Qin Yue heard Bai Zhi’s frantic voice in her ear, while the crowd watched her with excited expressions.
“Qin Yue,” Ling Jingxi said, holding a bouquet of flowers and looking at her with intense sincerity, “Qin Yue, the first time I saw you, I felt like an angel had descended from the heavens. You are my Venus, and I love you.”
As Ling Jingxi finished speaking, the crowd erupted in cheers, and several onlookers glared at Qin Yue with a mixture of envy and resentment.
Qin Yue felt embarrassed. Were these people all paid actors? Or had the Male Lead’s aura just dumbfounded them?
Ling Jingxi smiled confidently, his eyes filled with passion. He believed that his recent heroics had deeply moved Qin Yue!
“Let me protect and cherish you!” Ling Jingxi declared loudly, striding toward Qin Yue and thrusting the flowers into her hands.
The crowd chanted, “Together! Together!”
Qin Yue’s expression darkened. These people knew nothing, understood nothing. Their relentless chanting felt like coercion, a threat, utterly repulsive.
If Qin Yue hadn’t known about Ling Jingxi’s manipulation to have the police drop the case, she could have simply rejected him, assuming his feelings weren’t genuine. But now, she realized this whole charade was his own creation. She feared that rejecting him now would provoke his humiliation and wrath, potentially leading to murder—especially in front of this crowd of nosy, annoying spectators.
Qin Yue didn’t want to agree. She knew that accepting would plunge her into a sea of flames.
What should she do?
This was truly a desperate situation!
Just as Qin Yue was wracking her brain for a solution, Ling Jingxi suddenly thrust a massive bouquet of roses right in front of her face, nearly covering her completely.
Before she could react, her nose began to itch, and she started sneezing uncontrollably.
One sneeze after another, her nose felt like it was stuffed with cotton, completely blocked.
Suddenly, she felt short of breath. Her chest tightened, and she opened her mouth, gasping for air, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t breathe.
Qin Yue felt as if someone were choking her. Her face flushed crimson, her body went weak, and dizziness washed over her.
“Yueyue! What’s wrong?” Bai Zhi rushed over, witnessing the scene. She quickly supported Qin Yue and instructed someone to call for an ambulance.
Li Nuonuo tried to clear the crowd to ensure proper ventilation, but the onlookers, driven by curiosity, only pressed closer.
“Get out of the way! If she dies, you’ll be the ones to blame!” Bai Zhi roared angrily.
Fearing trouble, the crowd reluctantly dispersed.
Ling Jingxi stood nearby, his brow slightly furrowed. He watched Qin Yue collapse to the ground, showing not a shred of concern. Instead, his heart filled with resentment and irritation that she hadn’t given him the respect he demanded.
The ambulance arrived swiftly and rushed Qin Yue away. Both Bai Zhi and Li Nuonuo wanted to follow, but only one could accompany her. Bai Zhi instructed Li Nuonuo to wait at the dormitory.
The paramedics quickly assessed that Qin Yue was likely suffering from an asthma attack triggered by pollen and immediately began administering emergency treatment.
Qin Yue felt as if she were sinking to the bottom of the sea, surrounded by darkness, coldness, and suffocation.
Am I dying…?
She had only been in this world for less than half a year. Why was this happening so soon?
How sad. Grandma Qin, who cared for her and loved her, was still waiting for her to graduate. And all those people at the sanatorium—she’d never see them again.
They were her warmth in this world.
And then there was that mint-scented woman. She hadn’t even met her yet, but she must be beautiful. Even though the woman was inexperienced and sometimes a little rough, whenever Qin Yue cried out in pain, she would gently stroke her to soothe her.
Qin Yue drifted into a hazy reverie. Gradually, she felt she could breathe again. Her consciousness slipped into darkness.
