- Chapter 100 - The Descent of the Golden Script
Zhong Ying snapped her eyes open. The Mara was already upon her, its maw of black mist wide and surging forward. She rolled backward, narrowly evading the strike.
In that instant, the fires of the Divine Phoenix arrived. Iridescent golden flames spiraled down, forming a wall of heat that separated Zhong Ying from the beast.
“Zhu Xiaobao, get back!” Zhong Ying shouted over her shoulder, her gaze fixed on the gargantuan entity.
There was no answer. She glanced back—the little phoenix was gone. Where did she go?
“Zhong Ying, focus! The Mara is targeting you!” the Phoenix shrieked as she soared. “It was injured breaking the seal. My brothers and I will bind its movements. Be careful!”
The Four Gods struck simultaneously. They wove chains of divine power to trap the Mara within the Jing River. The Black Tortoise’s shell detached from his body, floating above the Mara’s head in an attempt to crush it back into the earth. The cultivators of the Immortal and Demon realms unleashed a barrage of techniques from behind the gods, their attacks illuminating the blackened sky.
The Mara let out an agonizing cry. “My food… She is my food!”
Fueled by rage, the Mara lashed out with four pillars of black mist, striking the Four Gods. “Four Gods… you all deserve to die!” A roar, half-beast and half-void, erupted from the mist. The darkness deepened as the Mara heaved upward, tossing the heavy tortoise shell aside.
The Black Tortoise trembled, coughing up divine blood. Even as his internal organs shattered from the impact, he refused to let go of the chains. With the Tortoise heavily injured, the burden on the others became unbearable.
Seeing that it couldn’t reach the woman without dealing with the others first, the Mara let out a final, primal howl. An army of Malice stepped out from the black mist—an endless tide of shadows.
Zhong Ying, watching from the rear, did not waste a second. She had already refined three of the divine gifts; only the Phoenix’s Natal Core remained. The Phoenix’s fire could burn away all worldly evil—it was the ultimate weapon. Without hesitation, she swallowed the core.
But before she could even process the power, the Mara’s counterattack began. The Phoenix, the most dangerous threat to the Mara, was targeted next. A massive hand of mist snatched the mountain-sized bird from the sky and slammed her into the ground.
With the Tortoise and the Phoenix crippled, the battle seemed lost. Zhong Ying sighed and stepped forward. Whether I can win or not, I have to fight.
She lunged, clashing with the Mara under the support of the Golden Dragon and Qilin. Every strike she landed, wreathed in Phoenix fire, scorched the Mara’s essence. Infuriated that a mere human could hurt it, the Mara ignored the other gods and lunged for her life.

At that absolute precipice, the world changed.
A line of golden characters descended from the heavens, searing themselves into the vision of everyone present:
[In the beginning, before life stirred in the Heavenly Realm, the Dao saw it crawling on all fours and named it the ‘Ancestral Beast.’ The Ancestral Beast was gluttonous; originally a celestial creature meant to consume wicked thoughts, it lost its way when it was corrupted by the very malice it ate.]
The golden text transformed into a streak of light and slammed into the Mara’s body. The monster froze. It wasn’t a “chaos entity” anymore. The golden light forcibly rewrote its molecular structure. The black mist dissipated, and at its center appeared a small, four-legged beast.
Suddenly, its killing intent vanished.
[King of All Beasts Buff Activated: Beast Affinity +200%. If the enemy is a beast, their battle intent is reduced by 50%. It will now choose to talk rather than fight.]
“Human… human… curse you! What did you do to me!” the Mara—now the Ancestral Beast—raged. But as it looked at Zhong Ying, it found it couldn’t bring itself to attack. It just wanted to… complain. “I am NOT a beast! Heavenly Dao, was it you?! Is it you?!”
Zhong Ying watched the confused creature, puzzled. The Mara wasn’t supposed to be a beast. But under the constraint of her buff, it clearly was one now. It all went back to that golden text. Did the Heavens interfere?
Back at her computer, Zhu Xingtong’s fingers flew across the keys. She knew her “cub” had the King of All Beasts buff, so she had written that specific line to force the Mara into that category.
She realized that while she couldn’t change the plot of a world that had become real, she could still change the Setting. If the enemy was too strong, she had two choices: buff her cub to high heaven or nerf the boss into the ground.
She chose both.
She typed a new line:
[She is no ordinary person, nor just a chosen one. She is the favorite of the Creator. The Creator gave her a system, the power to traverse time, and now, the Creator grants her the power to shake the heavens: the Power of a True God.]
Zhu Xingtong leaned back. “Is that enough?” The little orb of light didn’t stop her. She took a deep breath. Cub… please be safe.
The golden text fell again. Light flooded Zhong Ying’s body, a power so vast it made the surrounding immortals look like ants. The golden radiance purified the darkness, and the army of Malice vanished instantly.
Ascension to Godhood—on the spot.
The Four Gods were speechless. The Favorite of the Creator. This was beyond their understanding.
The Mara, now a cute, fluffy “Ancestral Beast,” sat on its haunches in front of Zhong Ying, looking utterly defeated. How is this fair? I’m not fighting anymore. Just destroy me. I’m done.
Zhong Ying felt the divine light washing through her soul. She was a “Favorite of the Creator”? She didn’t believe in a Creator—her only happiness came from her own struggles and from Zhu Xingtong. But she had the power now.
She picked up the unresisting Ancestral Beast by the scruff of its neck. “Still want to destroy the six realms?”
The beast burst into tears. “I thought you just had a few connections, but this is ridiculous! You and the Creator are teaming up to scam me!”
“…” Zhong Ying ignored its whining and used her divine sense to scan the area. “Mara, have you seen a little phoenix?”
The beast froze. “You mean… a very, very tiny phoenix?”
Zhong Ying’s heart leaped. “Where is she?”
The Ancestral Beast went limp, its voice trembling. “I just signed a contract with you, you can’t kill me… That… that little phoenix… I… I ate her.”
Zhong Ying: “???”
