- After Transmigrating as a Wealthy Woman: Donβt You Dare Touch My Baby! [Quick Transmigration]
- Chapter 101 - Across Time and Space, I Will Find You
Zhong Ying left that world shortly after. It was not her home.
She needed to find her Zhu XiaobaoΒ in their original world. Thanks to the “Creatorβs” intervention, the mission was a success, and she finally had enough points to purchase the Time-Reversal Capsule.
[Time-Reversal Capsule purchased. Rewinding time… Rewind complete.]Β [Host, there are eighteen minutes until your flight departs.]
In a daze, Zhong Ying found herself standing in the airport departure lounge, clutching her ticket. She shook her head; the rewind had worked. She immediately took out her phone to call Zhu Xingtong. At this hour, Xiaobao should be at work.
To her surprise, the call went unanswered. Suppressing the rising panic in her chest, Zhong Ying decided to head straight to the Little Star GroupΒ headquarters. She looked up at the clear sky over the tarmac and lightly flicked her finger.
Rumbleβ
A sudden crack of thunder echoed through the cloudless sky. Within moments, dark clouds gathered, and rain began to pour. Five minutes later, the Bureau of Meteorology issued an emergency alert:
“Yellow Rainstorm Warning for City C. Heavy precipitation will sweep the region. Flights between City C and City B have been grounded. Experts say this sudden storm was ‘entirely unexpected’…”
While reporters swarmed the airport, the culprit, Zhong Ying, was already in a taxi speeding toward the Little Star Group.
[The Creator was way too good to you, Host. My existence as a System has been totally overshadowed!]
“As long as you can still talk, you have enough presence,” Zhong Ying replied. The “Golden Script” written by the Creator had bestowed divine power directly onto her soul. Even back in the modern world, she could now command the wind and rain.
Zhong Ying reached the top floor of the Little Star building. Seeing Chairman Zhu slumped over her desk, a wave of despair washed over her. She couldn’t feel Xiaobao’s soul.
“Zhu Xingtong? Are you asleep?” Zhong Ying walked over and nudged her shoulder, her voice trembling with a terrifying gentleness. “Xiaobao, wake up.”
But Zhu Xingtongβs body was like that of a patient in a comaβher eyes remained tightly shut.
“Xiaobao, I didn’t go to the awards ceremony. It’s raining in City C, and the flights were cancelled.” Zhong Ying stared at the sleeping face, hoping it was just a prank, waiting for Xiaobao to jump up and laugh. But nothing happened.
The Mara had promised her that it had only “eaten” the phoenix’s physical body, not her soul. Zhong Ying had rushed back, thinking Xiaobao would be here. They had a promise…
If she couldn’t find her, what would she do? Without Xiaobao, she felt like she could destroy the world.
“System, can you find her?”
[Scanning… No trace of the Big Boss’s soul in this world. I can confirm her soul is not here.]
“Where do I look?”
[There are countless planes of existence. Finding her is like looking for a needle in a haystack.]
Zhong Ying looked at the ring on her ring finger and smiled sadly. “Even if it’s a needle in a haystack, I’ll find it. She found me so many times; now it’s just my turn. I’ll search world after world until I find her.”
Zhu Xingtong didn’t know Zhong Ying was looking for her. Even if she did, she had no way of going back. A month had passed in a blur.
Sitting in a cafe, watching the light snow fall outside, she blew on her hands, chilled from typing.
“Excuse me, are you the author ‘Zhu Zhu’?” A young waitress asked excitedly.
Zhu Xingtong looked up. “Yes, I am. And you are…?”
“I’m a huge fan! Can I have your autograph?”
Zhu Xingtong signed the notebook with a smile. The girl asked, “Why haven’t you started a new book yet?”
Xingtongβs pen paused. “I’m still conceptualizing the next one.”
“I see! My favorite is your ‘Big Heroine’ book. I love the protagonist, Zhong Ying! Sheβs so cool!”
“I love her the most, too,” Xingtong whispered as she handed back the notebook.
After the fan left, she leaned her chin on her hand. The snow was getting heavier. She was a novelist, yet she was trapped in her own first book, unable to move on. Her editor thought she had gone crazy. Her time in the book felt like a dreamβshe had gone in to save her “cub,” but in the end, her cub had achieved Godhood only to be left alone again.
“What a bitter fate,” she sighed. “Could I ever love anyone else?”
Zhu Xingtong paid her bill and prepared to leave. She had two new messages. One from her editor: “Tongtong, how’s the new book coming along?” The other from her mother: “Zhu Xingtong! How old are you? Come home tomorrow for a blind date. I found some lovely girls for you. I know you like womenβdon’t hide it, I still have your middle-school diary about your female classmates!”
Zhu Xingtong winced. Mom! I’m still mourning a heartbreak that transcends dimensions! And blind dates? If my ‘cub’ knew, she’d probably tie me to the bed for three days and nights…
She wrapped her scarf tight and pushed open the cafe door. A gust of cold wind hit her. Just as she stepped out, a tall figure walked past her.
Wow,Β Xingtong thought, she’s tall.Β Unlike Xingtong, who was bundled up like a marshmallow, this woman wore a thin black trench coat, slim trousers, and high heels. She looked stunning and sophisticated. Isn’t she cold?
“Excuse me… the girl in the white coat?” A voice called out from behind.
Zhu Xingtong turned around. The woman in the trench coat was walking toward her, looking a bit nervous. She held out a notebook. “Is this yours? You left it on the counter.”
“Oh! Thank you!” It was her sketchbook of inspirations. She couldn’t lose that.
“Miss Zhu, right?” The womanβs expression relaxed. “I’m the owner of this cafe. I hope you’ll visit again.”
Zhu Xingtong blinked. “How did you know my name?”
“Itβs on the cover,” the woman pointed. On the corner of the notebook, written in beautiful calligraphy, was the name: Zhu Xingtong.
Xingtong blushed. “Ah! Right.”
“It’s cold. Go home quickly,” the woman said with a warm smile.
“Yes! Thank you, boss!” Xingtong turned and walked away. Only later did she realize she hadn’t asked for the owner’s name. Well, I’ll just ask next time.
“Boss, boss! She’s already gone,” the waitress teased, standing next to the tall woman.
“I know.”
“Boss, do you like the author Zhu Zhu too?”
The woman in the black coat smiled. “Zhu Zhu?”
“Yes! Her protagonist has the same name as you!”
The woman looked down, her eyes soft with an ancient, divine depth. “Zhong Ying, is it? I’ll have to read it when I have time.”
She looked up at the sky. “The snow has been falling long enough. The roads are slippery. It should stop now.”
The waitress was confused. “But winter just started…”
“I checked the forecast,” the woman said. “The sun is coming out today.”
As she spoke, the snow stopped. The clouds parted, and a warm, brilliant sun began to shine over the city.
