After the Vicious Supporting Female Character Became the Heroine's Cat - Chapter 34.2
Shen Yunmiao didn’t dare move recklessly again and watched as Cheng Jianian leisurely bathed.
Her cheeks gradually flushed red from the steam.
Cheng Jianian paid her no mind, intentionally slowing down her bathing.
Just when Shen Yunmiao couldn’t wait any longer, Cheng Jianian suddenly stood up, water cascading around her. Fortunately, by the time Shen Yunmiao opened her eyes, Cheng Jianian was already dressed.
Shen Yunmiao hurried to get up and put on her clothes as well.
“Even if you put them on, you’ll just have to take them off again. Why bother?”
Her voice carried a hint of amusement, tinged with teasing.
Shen Yunmiao ignored her, holding her breath as she dressed herself.
She dressed very properly, looking as though she were heading to a laboratory for an experiment rather than preparing for that kind of activity.
Even her collar was neatly straightened.
Cheng Jianian was only teasing her; in truth, she was also quite nervous.
She had never done this before but hoped to make Miao Miao’s first time enjoyable.
She carefully followed what she had learned, trying hard not to appear too flustered.
Both of them were awkward and unsure of what to do.
Shen Yunmiao whispered, “Let’s turn off the lights.”
But she quickly reconsidered: “No, no then we won’t be able to see.”
Young Master Cheng, flushed with embarrassment, retorted, “Who says we can’t see? I can see perfectly well.”
In the end, the lights remained on because Young Master Cheng wanted to see every subtle expression on the face of the person she cherished most.
To see the trembling eyelashes, teary dark eyes, moist red lips, the tip of a tongue slightly revealed, disheveled hair, and fair skin.
She was like a butterfly, gently landing in the palm of her hand powerless to escape.
Cheng Jianian slowly closed her hand, and the butterfly’s wings trembled and folded.
She couldn’t bear to let go, so the butterfly fluttered up and down, drifting on the waves.
Finally, unable to restrain herself, she kissed the fluttering wings of the butterfly.
Feeling the tremor that came from the soul.
And her own soul trembled along with it.
The next morning, Cheng Jianian woke up early, too excited to sleep longer. But even after waking, she didn’t rush to rouse the person beside her. Instead, she gazed intently, tracing every feature of her face with her eyes.
Yesterday, she had kissed every part of that face.
She reached out with her fair fingers, gently tracing in the air, the gentle curve of her brows, the full, moist lips, the small, delicate earlobes.
Just then, Shen Yunmiao woke up.
Her dark eyes slowly opened, the sunlight filtering through the white curtains by the floor-to-ceiling window softly illuminating her gaze.
“Hmm?” Shen Yunmiao’s consciousness hadn’t fully returned yet; she didn’t quite grasp what Cheng Jianian was doing.
Cheng Jianian didn’t explain. Instead, she reached out, supporting Shen Yunmiao by the shoulders to help her sit up.
Shen Yunmiao sat up, paused for a couple of seconds, and then belatedly realized what the two of them had done yesterday. Instantly, her face grew warm.
But she had always been quick to adapt and showed no particular expression, calmly changing into her clothes.
Cheng Jianian watched her calm yet indifferent demeanor and felt a twinge of regret.
She dressed herself as well, muttering, “If only we’d started earlier, we could’ve saved on rent sooner. You know, apartments are expensive.”
Shen Yunmiao: “…”
She couldn’t be bothered to refute the nonsense spouting from this person.
Instead, she simply asked, “Where are we going to have fun today?”
“What’s the rush?” Cheng Nianian slumped against her bonelessly. “We should take it easy today, rest up and recharge. Isn’t going out to play exhausting?”
Shen Yunmiao wasn’t exactly feeling energetic either, but the thought of having to return home in just a few days made her reluctant to waste any time.
After all, resting could be done anywhere, but the time for enjoying the island was already counting down.
She grumbled reluctantly, “We’ll be going back soon, and we haven’t even played much.”
“So that’s what you’re worried about,” Cheng Nianian leaned against her effortlessly, grinning. “What’s the big deal? There are plenty of fun places in the world. Wherever you want to go in the future, I’ll go with you.”
Shen Yunmiao disagreed, “Are you going to do the same thing we did last night everywhere we go? Since we’re out, we should enjoy ourselves together.”
Only after speaking did she realize how uncharacteristically sharp her tone had been, and she froze in surprise.
Normally, she rarely spoke so unreasonably. She usually agreed with others gently, and if she disagreed, she’d simply stay silent.
She cautiously glanced at Cheng Nianian, afraid of meeting an annoyed expression, but instead found her deep in thought.
Little Cheng felt her wife’s words were off the mark. Life was short, why not live it comfortably? But refuting Miaomiao, she didn’t want to do that either.
So she pouted and whined playfully, “That kind of thing? What we did last night was plenty fun. As long as we’re happy, how we spend our time doesn’t matter. Life is short, Miaomiao. We should do whatever makes us happy.”
Shen Yunmiao: “…”
She breathed a quiet sigh of relief, reminding herself to be more careful with her words in the future.
Still, they didn’t go out to play that morning. By the time they woke up, it was almost ten o’clock. After getting ready and having a meal, it was already noon. Cheng Nianian then clung to her, insisting on a nap, and by the time they woke up again, it was afternoon.
Seeing that Shen Yunmiao’s complexion had recovered well, Cheng Nianian didn’t hesitate. She took her to crack open coconuts and do some crafts. After dinner, while it was still early, they headed to the amusement park.
A few thrilling rides later, and the excitement had worn off. It wasn’t until eight in the evening, when the Ferris wheel lit up and started operating, that Cheng Nianian finally felt a spark of interest.
She tugged at Shen Yunmiao’s sleeve, acting like a little kitten, innocent and wide-eyed. “Let’s ride this, okay!”
Shen Yunmiao could never resist her when she acted like this, so she nodded. The staff in charge had already been informed that the boss would be bringing her girlfriend today and promptly opened the door from afar.
The Ferris wheel cabin wasn’t very spacious. In the confined space, the air grew thin, and their breaths mingled back and forth.
As the machine started with a “clunk,” Cheng Nianian took a deep breath, revealing a hint of her sharp canine as she smiled. “So fragrant.”
She genuinely meant it, inhaling the rich scent of fresh snow in the air.
Shen Yunmiao, however, was somewhat distracted. Yang Xu had sent her a message, roughly saying that the Golden Glory Awards were about to begin judging, and she had been nominated for both Best Newcomer and Best Supporting Actress, with a high chance of winning.
Yang Xu’s message was concise but clear: she should prepare in advance, as she would likely need to walk the red carpet when the time came.
Yang Xu casually mentioned that some brands had already reached out, hoping to discuss collaborations. She suggested it would be a good idea to finalize things now so that Shen Yunmiao could wear or carry something from the brands on the red carpet after they returned.
Shen Yunmiao wasn’t very familiar with such matters. She lowered her head, frowning slightly as she looked at her phone. Cheng Jianian immediately noticed something was on her mind and leaned in to glance at the screen.
After a quick look, Cheng let out a soft click of her tongue and laughed. “Don’t worry about her. I’ll talk to her later. Not just anyone gets to collaborate with you.” Her tone was casual, almost dismissive, as if partnering with Shen Yunmiao was an honor those brands could only dream of.
But Cheng Jianian wasn’t entirely without reason. Unbeknownst to Shen Yunmiao, Cheng had already made their relationship public within their circles. That was partly why brands were now eagerly seeking collaborations with Shen Yunmiao, if they could please Cheng through this connection, the benefits would far outweigh any advertising gains.
Shen Yunmiao understood the underlying dynamics and sighed helplessly. “It’s strange. I’m the one working to earn money, yet you’re the one pulling strings for me.”
Cheng Jianian wrapped her arms around Shen Yunmiao’s waist, nuzzling her affectionately. “It’s perfectly normal, Miaomiao. Don’t worry even in business dealings, I won’t suffer any losses.” After all, Cheng Jianian never came out on the losing end of anything.
Still, she couldn’t help feeling a little displeased. Leaning closer to Shen Yunmiao’s fair, delicate neck, she murmured, “Ah! I don’t want you to work. I earn more than enough.”
Shen Yunmiao felt a wave of helplessness. She didn’t dare draw too clear a line between them setting boundaries could easily hurt their relationship. At this stage, when their feelings were so intense, Cheng Jianian might even feel like giving her all her money without a second thought, driven by some unspoken emotion.
But Shen Yunmiao couldn’t accept that.
Sometimes, relationships between people of different social standings were like this. It wasn’t about inequality in love, but about the many hurdles that came with bridging such gaps. The first and most difficult one to overcome was often one’s own pride.
Shen Yunmiao didn’t consider herself particularly proud; she simply felt that if she accepted everything now, what would happen if, someday, Cheng Jianian’s feelings changed? How would they handle a separation then? Would Cheng take everything back, the boundless love and lavish material comforts?
But Cheng Jianian probably wouldn’t. To her, those things might not even matter much.
Shen Yunmiao sighed inwardly. Well, she could worry about the future later. Resting her head against Cheng’s, she gently played with her soft hair, feeling warm and content. “I’ll stop working when I don’t need to anymore,” she said.
The Ferris wheel slowly ascended, bringing them closer to the night sky and the moon.
Suddenly, Cheng Jianian sat up straight and blinked at her. “Miaomiao, do you know the legend about Ferris wheels?”
The legend of the Ferris wheel that if lovers kiss at the very top, their love will never fade, and they’ll stay together forever, in this life and the next.
Shen Yunmiao pretended not to know. “What is it? I’ve never heard of it.”
Cheng Jianian smiled. “Never heard of it? That’s fine. It’s just a legend anyway. Let’s try it and see if it’s true or not.”
She pulled Shen Yunmiao onto her lap. The night was perfect, and a gentle breeze slipped in through the slight gap in the cabin.
Cheng Jianian gazed at those soft, rosy lips for a long moment before leaning in and kissing her deeply.
In the long wait, Shen Yunmiao’s heartbeat raced uncontrollably, a mix of anticipation and anxiety fueling the surge in her blood.
Cheng Jianian pressed her hand against Shen Yunmiao’s neck and leaned in for a deep kiss.
Their lips met, tongues intertwined, accompanied by soft, wet sounds like playful fish darting through water, a back-and-forth dance.
The temperature rose in the confined space.
Both were on the verge of suffocation, their cheeks flushed crimson.
Only then did they slowly pull apart.
Cheng Jianian’s voice was husky with lingering tenderness:
“Miaomiao, we must always be together, or this legend won’t come true.”
Slowly, the person in her arms nodded: “Alright!”
