After the Simp Omega Comes to His Senses, the Alpha Panics - Chapter 14
Just eating some barbecue, was all this really necessary? Ladies?
Wen Yuluo rubbed his temples speechlessly. So many people liked Qi You, so in Qi You’s eyes, what difference was there between him and any ordinary pursuer?
He might as well just stick to unrequited love. Heh.
Five minutes into the welcome party, Wen Yuluo already regretted coming.
The president was blabbering on stage, but Wen Yuluo didn’t catch a single word until the president announced, “Then let us welcome our new classmates to the Xingyan family! Let’s have two of you come up for a self-introduction.”
Fierce applause erupted from below, and Wen Yuluo quietly clapped along.
Once everyone else turned their bodies toward the stage, Wen Yuluo followed suit, finally able to look openly for a while.
Lu Baihai took the microphone and rambled on for ages, covering his age, hobbies, and height. He talked so much he practically wanted to tell everyone his exact measurements.
Wen Yuluo had a headache just listening to him, and his expression grew somewhat impatient.
Lu Baihai was also a handsome alpha. Being able to be good buddies with Qi You meant his family background was bound to be privileged, but standing next to Qi You, he was destined to be nothing more than a foil.
Five minutes later, Lu Baihai finally finished introducing himself.
When Qi You stepped onto the stage, every single cell in Wen Yuluo’s body stood on end.
Everyone neatly looked toward Qi You in unison. They saw him calmly take the microphone and say, “My name is Qi You, majoring in economics. Nice to meet you all.”
Then he fixed the microphone onto the stand and stepped off the stage.
That was it?
Wen Yuluo was still stunned when thunderous applause rang out from the audience.
Wen Yuluo cast one more lingering look at Qi You, then silently turned his head away.
The protagonist of this occasion wasn’t him, and the protagonist’s gaze naturally wouldn’t drift toward him.
After the self-introductions, the stage was taken over by members of the school dance team. If the omegas had come for Qi You, the alphas present had clearly come for the dance team.
Wen Yuluo’s seat backed up against the stage, meaning he could neither see Qi You nor the passionate dancing.
No wonder he was seated right here, because six hundred bucks only bought you a seat right here, serving as a background prop in a noisy environment.
Zilan was stuffing her face beside him, continuously piling grilled meat onto Wen Yuluo’s plate. “Yubao, hurry up and eat! Even though compared to the fifty-thousand-buck seats, our six-hundred-buck ones aren’t worth mentioning, we still need to eat our money’s worth.”
Wen Yuluo had no appetite. He opened a bottle of beer and took a large gulp straight from the bottle.
The surrounding noises were chaotic, and the omega pheromones from beside him and across the entire table drifted about intentionally or unintentionally.
The sweet, cloying pheromone scents mixed together, so suffocating that Qi You’s brow didn’t smooth out for a second.
A few pretty omegas shot him lingering winks, but Qi You acted as though he didn’t see them, instead taking a light sip of the tea in his hand.
Xingyan wasn’t any different from Qingda, at least the omegas in it were no different, trying to hook him with pheromones they thought were charming, but he only found it disgusting. He was disgusted by the scent of any omega whatsoever.
Qi You didn’t even know where to rest his eyes because no matter where he looked, he would lock gazes with an omega at the tables.
Lu Baihai beside him was having a blast, while Qi You speechlessly stared at the neighboring table.
He paused as he caught sight of a slender back and the long, delicate neck exposed to the air.
Perhaps he stared a bit too long, drawing Lu Baihai’s attention.
Following Qi You’s gaze, Lu Baihai, who had a super memory for good-looking people, recognized who it was just from the back.
“Isn’t that the guy who blushed at you in the student union this morning? How come he’s here too? Did he come for you as well?”
Qi You withdrew his gaze. “Stop talking nonsense.”
“How am I talking nonsense? The moment he looked at you, his blush went all the way down to his neck.”
Lu Baihai clicked his tongue. “What a pretty neck, paper-white. I really want to take a bite.”
Qi You inexplicably felt a bit displeased and pushed Lu Baihai away. “Aren’t the omegas at your own table enough for you to covet? You still have to stare at other tables?”
Lu Baihai smiled and fluttered his eyelashes at the omega right in front of him. “You’re right. When I walked past him earlier, I didn’t smell any pheromones on him. He must be a beta. Such a waste of a face.”
A beta.
Qi You was staring so intently that the omega beside him inched closer and closer, their pheromones growing increasingly thick. Holding his breath, he suddenly stood up.
Lu Baihai froze, and everyone at the table froze along with him.
They watched as Qi You dragged his chair behind Wen Yuluo and gently tapped him on the shoulder.
Wen Yuluo lifted his eyelashes, his pupils contracting in shock.
“Classmate, it’s a bit crowded over there, and I noticed this table is quite spacious. May I sit next to you?”
Wen Yuluo was already dumbfounded.
Stop beating so fast! Stop it! Wen Yuluo, why are you so spineless? Heart, can you please beat a little slower?
Answer him! Answer him, you idiot!
Wen Yuluo knew how conspicuous Qi You was. Standing right next to him now, plenty of people were bound to stare at the two of them. A simple “Sure” was all it took to settle it, so why was it so hard to open his mouth?
Even Zilan was speechless. She had never seen Wen Yuluo lose his spine this badly.
“Yes, yes, of course you can.” Zilan quickly scooted over to make room for Qi You.
Qi You softly muttered a thank-you and sat down beside Wen Yuluo.
The air at this table was noticeably better than the one he had just left. Feeling refreshed, Qi You let out a slight breath.
The omega who had been endlessly releasing pheromones wore the expression of someone whose mother had just died as they stared at Qi You’s back, pitching their voice high as they asked Lu Baihai, “Brother Lu, did I do something wrong? Why did Senior Qi go to that table?”
Lu Baihai pinched the bridge of his nose, thinking to himself: My good sister, if you keep releasing pheromones like this for much longer, you’re going to attract alphas from the next street over. Of course he’d move.
Lu Baihai tactfully reminded her, “Junior, is your pheromone-blocking patch expired?”
Omega: ” ”
Once Qi You sat down, Wen Yuluo visibly tensed up, his hands not knowing where to put themselves.
A faint blush slowly crept up his cheeks without him even realizing it.
Qi You raised the corner of his mouth and asked, “Classmate, are you feeling unwell? Why is your face so red?”
Wen Yuluo stared blankly for a few seconds before realizing Qi You was talking to him. He pointed a finger at the beer bottle. “I’m drinking. It goes to my face.”
Looking at the bottle, which was still mostly full, Qi You nodded, scooted a bit closer to him, and picked up the bottle. “Shall I share some of it for you?”
When Qi You leaned in, he deliberately caught a whiff of Wen Yuluo’s scent.
He was wearing a clean white shirt, and aside from the scent of body wash, there wasn’t a trace of pheromones on him.
It felt genuinely comfortable.
Qi You grabbed a clean cup, filled Wen Yuluo’s glass to the brim, lifted his head, and took a sip.
Wen Yuluo couldn’t help but glance sideways, watching Qi You’s Adam’s apple bob up and down in his throat.
That was seriously going to be the death of him.
The dance was nearing its end, and the music from the speakers turned tender. With a murky, complex gleam in his eyes, Wen Yuluo felt like he was utterly hooked on this person for the rest of his life.
