- Chapter 11 - Where the Hell Is My Wife?
On the way home, Qi You repeatedly tapped open WeChat, finally giving in and sending Wen Yuluo a message.
Feigning indifference, he typed out: “I am almost home, get ready.”
Even when raising a pet, shouldn’t you throw it a treat every now and then?
This was already the longest message he had sent to Wen Yuluo in recent times.
He was really giving him too much face.
Qi You hit send and, wanting to turn off the screen for a quick nap, was instantly dumbfounded by a red exclamation mark.
He rubbed his eyes to make sure he wasn’t seeing things.
His message to Wen Yuluo had actually failed to send.
“You have enabled friend verification, and you are still not friends. Please send a friend verification request first. You can chat only after the other party accepts it.”
Qi You stared blankly for nearly a full minute, his grip tightening on his phone until it felt like he might crush it.
Had he lost his mind, or had Wen Yuluo lost his?
Wen Yuluo actually deleted him on WeChat?
At a red light, the driver glanced in the rearview mirror at Qi You and was nearly scared to death by his expression.
It was the look of a man whose wife had just died.
Qi You no longer had the patience to wait until he got home to question him. He placed a call, but the phone just kept ringing with a busy tone before the cold mechanical voice chimed in, letting it ring until it automatically disconnected.
After calling several times, there was still no response.
Pitifully, the CEO of the Qi Group had to slink off to search Baidu for: “What does it mean when a phone call goes unanswered?”
The responses at the bottom read:
“Hello, regarding your question about unanswered phone calls:
First: The other party is doing it on purpose, neither hanging up nor answering, obviously leaving you hanging.
Second: The other party has blocked you.
Third: It might be an issue with the mobile carrier.”
There were many other answers below, but Qi You instinctively felt it was the second one.
He tried calling a few more times, but still received no response.
“Fuck.”
As soon as he finished swearing, Qi You noticed a few missed calls from Wen Yuluo in the call logs from the past couple of days that he hadn’t answered.
Qi You recalled what he was doing on that day and remembered he was in a meeting, so he had handed his phone to Wang Ran.
His pent-up anger finally had a place to vent.
Finding Wang Ran’s number, Qi You barked the moment the call went through: “Why didn’t you answer the phone when Wen Yuluo called me the other day?”
Wang Ran replied innocently: “Didn’t you say so yourself, President? You told me not to answer Mr. Wen’s calls.”
Qi You froze. “Did I say that?”
He said it with very little conviction because he had a good memory and knew full well that he had indeed said it.
Wang Ran helped him jog his memory: “You don’t need to answer his calls anymore, it is just a bunch of useless matters. That is what you said at the time.”
Qi You felt a headache coming on and hung up on Wang Ran.
The driver drove the car back to the villa all the way in a cold sweat, trembling. The moment it stopped, the car door was kicked open. Qi You strode out on his long legs, entered the living room, and roared, “Wen Yuluo!”
“Wen Yuluo, get your ass out here right now.”
“You’ve grown some spine, haven’t you? Daring to delete me on WeChat and block my calls?”
Silence echoed through the room. He stood stupidly in the center of the living room, looking up at the master bedroom on the second floor. There were no footsteps, no sound of a door opening.
Qi You was completely enraged. Tonight, he was going to fuck Wen Yuluo senseless.
Consumed by anger, he headed up to the second floor and twisted the bedroom door open.
The interior was spotless, exactly as it had been when he left. There wasn’t a trace of scent in the air, and the bed was made neatly, looking pristine enough that no one had ever lived in it.
A bedroom where everything could be seen at a glance couldn’t hide anyone, so Qi You turned to check the guest room, study, computer room, and attic.
After checking every single room upstairs and downstairs in the villa, he found no trace of the omega.
Half of Qi You’s heart went cold. He returned to the bedroom and tremblingly opened the closet doors.
Seeing that all of Wen Yuluo’s clothes had vanished completely, he could finally no longer lie to himself.
Wen Yuluo had run away, leaving nothing behind, and run away.
“I’m finally off work, fuck!”
To keep Wen Yuluo company, Zilan had taken a few days off. Upon returning to work, tasks had piled up, keeping her working overtime until the sky turned dark. She yawned, smiled as she looked at the safe-arrival message Wen Yuluo had sent her, and thought to yourself:
“Sisters, I’m heading out first.”
Zilan bid her colleagues farewell, packed up her things, and prepared to head home.
Arriving downstairs at the company building, she was scrolling through a food delivery app and pondering what to eat when a dark figure suddenly materialized right in front of her, blocking her path entirely.
“Is this person raised with any manners?” Zilan was about to hurl an insult, but seeing who it was, she choked the words back.
Qi You stood nearly one hundred ninety centimeters tall, with a towering, imposing build. Standing in front of him, the one-hundred-sixty-centimeter Zilan looked like a little toy figurine.
His gaze was terrifying, and his exceptionally handsome face was striking to the extreme, freezing Zilan in her tracks and leaving her at a loss.
Even though she was a beta and couldn’t sense pheromones, at this very moment, she felt as though she were being suppressed by an alpha’s pheromones, completely incapable of making any movement.
Qi You just looked down at her, seemingly waiting for her to speak first.
Zilan had no choice but to awkwardly stretch out her arm and wave it slightly. “Umm. Crown Prince Qi, long time no see? What a coincidence, how come I bumped into you here?”
Qi You didn’t beat around the bush with her, his voice hoarse and low: “Where is Wen Yuluo?”
Zilan widened her eyes in astonishment. Did she hear that right?
Qi You was asking where Wen Yuluo was.
Why? How could that be?
As far as she knew, Wen Yuluo was just a convenient little toy that Qi You used.
The mighty and powerful Crown Prince Qi was actually waiting here for her just because a toy had gone missing?
Zilan swallowed hard and stammered: “Yuluo? Wasn’t Yuluo at home? How would I know where he is?”
“Miss Zilan,” Qi You’s expression grew even gloomier, “Want to try playing dumb again?”
A threat! This was straight-up a threat!
That bastard Qi You, you couldn’t find him when you needed him, and now that the person had been driven away, he comes to her to pull this mafia bullshit?
Even if he could cover the sky with one hand in Yancheng…
Zilan glanced at the surveillance camera tucked in the corner of the company building, confirming her personal safety shouldn’t be in danger, and shot back: “What relation is Crown Prince Qi to Yuluo anyway? After all, Yuluo is just a frail little omega. How could I casually leak his whereabouts to you?”
Qi You was left speechless. Before he could figure out what to say, another person appeared right behind Zilan.
“Zilan? Still not off work, what are you standing at the entrance for?”
A savior! An absolute savior!
Zilan didn’t recognize whose voice it was at first, but when she spun around, she saw her own company chairman looking at her with a puzzled expression.
Holy shit, was this a savior or a disaster?
Zilan forced a laugh and said: “Chairman Zhou, you’re getting off work late too? Can you give me a ride on your way?”
Zhou Zeyi thought to himself, this little employee sure is bold, daring to ask him for a ride.
He let out a cold snort and said: “I suppose I can, but there’s a condition. Add me on WeChat and introduce me to Wen Yuluo.”
Things were developing in an entirely uncontrollable direction.
Without even turning around, Zilan could feel the murderous intent radiating off Qi You.
Help me! Somebody help me!
