- Chapter 66.1 - Woken Up by Her While Still Half-Conscious
Chi Yang went to take a shower, and when she came out, Pei Jiuyao was still passed out on the bed. Because she wouldn’t let go of Chi Yang’s clothes—her fingers clamped tight even in her sleep—Chi Yang had no choice but to strip them off right there, head into Pei Jiuyao’s walk-in closet, and put on one of her T-shirts.
When she returned, Pei Jiuyao was already clutching Chi Yang’s discarded clothes in her arms as if they were a lifeline.
Her reactions during susceptibility always exceeded Chi Yang’s expectations—now, and even a year ago.
An Alpha could mark more than one Omega, especially when it was only a temporary mark between them.
Which only made one thing painfully obvious: Pei Jiuyao must not have had any other partners in the past year. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be this dependent on Chi Yang’s pheromones.
Chi Yang tied her hair up and sat on the edge of the bed, watching Pei Jiuyao’s sleeping face.
Her Alpha was in heat, and Chi Yang herself couldn’t help but grow restless. Let alone the fact that they hadn’t touched each other in a year.
Some passion scattered easily, like a fire lit in winter blown out by the wind.
But some passion lodged itself in the body like a tack embedded in the third rib—scraping with every movement, sinking deeper and deeper until it pierced into flesh, became part of one’s own being, and fused inseparably with the rest of one’s life.
Most of Chi Yang’s lifelong interests were born from spite—including joining the entertainment industry.
Except for Pei Jiuyao.
Pei Jiuyao was the burn mark left by a raging fire, the painful hangnail at her fingertip, the bullet embedded in her chest.
Even if scraped clean with a scalpel, the pain had already grown into the lines of her skin, impossible to erase.
But Chi Yang knew: Pei Jiuyao had never been her pain. She was a god-given gift.
Chi Yang craved Pei Jiuyao the way a living creature needed oxygen.
She lowered her head, her fingertips brushing between Pei Jiuyao’s furrowed brows before withdrawing. A moment later, she couldn’t resist rubbing her lips, pinching her nose.
Still, taking advantage of her like this wasn’t very fair, Chi Yang thought.
When she woke up, she would naturally want her on her own.
With that thought, Chi Yang leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to Pei Jiuyao’s forehead.
Her mind was rational, but her actions were not. The next time she came back to herself, she had already kissed her way from Pei Jiuyao’s forehead to her lips.
Her eyelashes fluttered. Well, since she’d already kissed her, she might as well kiss a little more.
She was unconscious anyway—what could she do about it?
Chi Yang rolled Pei Jiuyao over, tugging the clothing out of her arms. Without something to hold during susceptibility, Pei Jiuyao instinctively reached out, grasping blindly for something to cling to.
Even passed out, her instincts were unimpaired: the moment she touched Chi Yang’s waist, her arms tightened reflexively, pulling her in like a fish diving into water.
Chi Yang had been kneeling beside her legs. With that pull, she collapsed directly onto Pei Jiuyao’s body. Pei Jiuyao’s arms clamped around her, like she wanted to press Chi Yang straight into her bones and organs.
Chi Yang struggled, trying to sit up, and looked at Pei Jiuyao’s tightly closed eyes.
“Are you actually unconscious?” she poked her lips, “How are you this strong while asleep?”
Holding her, Chi Yang kissed her lips, her jawline, bit her neck lightly, nuzzled for a moment. Then she pushed Pei Jiuyao’s head a little to the side, exposing the back of her neck.
Chi Yang leaned down and nipped at her gland with her small teeth. Finding it amusing, she bit a little harder.
But an Omega didn’t have fangs, nor could she inject pheromones, so she could only tease, never truly mark.
If only I could mark her too, Chi Yang thought.
Fully mark her, leave my imprint, make her unable to leave me ever again.
Thinking that made something restless unfurl in her chest.
Pheromones were thick at the gland—so thick Chi Yang’s pupils grew hazy, her body melting under the weight of it. But the intensity brought an overwhelming sense of satisfaction, as if she could claim this woman with no limits.
Her legs trembled uncontrollably.
She couldn’t stop herself from biting the gland again. And just then—above her—came a voice, poured down like cold water:
“What are you doing?”
Chi Yang froze, her lashes trembling. She lifted her head.
Pei Jiuyao was awake. Her pitch-black eyes were wide open, staring straight at her.
Judging her.
Just as Chi Yang was about to explain, Pei Jiuyao flipped them over, wrapped her up, nudged her nose against Chi Yang’s jaw, and murmured hoarsely, “What kind of bad thing are you doing?”
“Your body’s so cool, it feels so good. Let me hold you.” Pei Jiuyao hooked one leg over Chi Yang, still dizzy, acting purely on instinct.
Chi Yang had just taken a cold shower and even injected a suppressant. Her skin was still cold enough to soothe Pei Jiuyao’s heat.
But being held like this quickly made Chi Yang warm again. Beads of sweat glistened at her temples, red flushing over her skin, her legs turning soft and weak.
The suppressant she’d injected was already ruined—her pheromones surged wildly from her gland.
Half-dazed, Pei Jiuyao felt the body in her arms turning into a furnace.
She had wanted something cool to hug, yet somehow this furnace in her arms felt unexpectedly good.
Chi Yang shifted, her voice strained: “It’s too hot. I’m going to take another shower.”
“Don’t go.” Pei Jiuyao’s muffled voice was firm. “Let me hold you. You’re warm and comfortable.”
“You were the one who wanted something cold,” Chi Yang protested weakly, her voice softened into a helpless, syrupy tone she couldn’t control.
Pei Jiuyao buried her face in Chi Yang’s neck, pressing tightly against her, and gave a low laugh. “You’re acting spoiled again.”
“I am not!” Chi Yang bit her lip and patted her shoulder, “You’re still unstable—let go of me.”
“You’re asking an Alpha in susceptibility to let go of her Omega?” Pei Jiuyao raised her eyelids slightly, her clear eyes shimmering. She spoke sweetly without even realizing it.
Chi Yang’s heart skipped.
Pei Jiuyao looked much more awake now—her pupils no longer as glazed. Her ink-black eyes rippled with light; when she smiled, a sliver of canine tooth showed.
Right now, Pei Jiuyao was unmistakably a wild, untamed wolf king. For a moment, it felt like the day they first met.
Ying Ning was right—no one could refuse Pei Jiuyao like this.
Even if Chi Yang knew that an Alpha in susceptibility would say all kinds of insincere things just to feel good.
Including calling her “my Omega.”
This shouldn’t have felt real.
And yet the moment she thought that, Chi Yang fell straight into it—into her. She knew that right now, Pei Jiuyao could do whatever she wanted to her—not because Pei Jiuyao wished to, but because Chi Yang wanted her to.
Chi Yang wanted her to do whatever she pleased.
Uncontrollable desire surged through her like a breaking flood.
“Am I your Omega?” Chi Yang finally couldn’t hold back the question.
A smile bloomed in Pei Jiuyao’s eyes.
“Who else?” She leaned in to peck Chi Yang’s lips. “Who else do you want marking you? No one. You can only be mine.”
Chi Yang’s clear eyes lifted to her, falling into her bit by bit.
“Then don’t forget—if I’m only yours, then you can only be mine too.” Her soft, pale fingertips hooked under Pei Jiuyao’s chin. “Mine alone. Don’t get lost again.”
Pei Jiuyao braced her arms on either side of Chi Yang’s head and slowly straightened up.
Her consciousness had cleared somewhat, but it was still the kind of clarity drowned in hormones.
To want the person beneath her, to want to be soothed by this Omega—that was the only thought in her mind.
And conveniently, this Omega was hers.
She lowered her head and caught Chi Yang’s lips. Chi Yang let out a muffled sound, her eyes instantly flushing red.
Her lips were soft—soft like cotton candy, like chocolate melting at the perfect moment, wrapped in Pei Jiuyao’s favorite pheromone scent. Addictive. Irresistible.
Even without smelling another Omega’s scent before, Pei Jiuyao simply knew—Chi Yang’s scent was her favorite.
She felt Chi Yang trembling slightly, even the lips held in hers quivering.
A tingling itch ran along the roots of her teeth. Pei Jiuyao released Chi Yang and ground her upper and lower teeth together, watching the face before her—once cool and translucent—slowly melt into sultry beauty. Wet tears slid from the corners of Chi Yang’s eyes, tracing down her temples, the shimmering trails adding a devastating allure.
She looked like an overly ripe strawberry—crushed, she would still be the richest scarlet.
“What bad thing were you planning to do to me just now?” Pei Jiuyao’s slender fingers skimmed Chi Yang’s cheek, drawing a shiver.
Her voice dropped low and magnetic. “What were you trying to do, hm?”
This Alpha in her susceptibility period was dangerously close to fanning her feathers open. She wasn’t clear-headed at all.
But Chi Yang had no resistance against an Alpha mid–display.
She averted her gaze, bit her fingertip, and whispered, “I wasn’t planning anything.”
“Were you trying to mark me?”
Chi Yang’s voice turned soft—so soft it could drip sugar. From Pei Jiuyao’s limited experience—her only experience—this meant Chi Yang had already entered the state.
In other words, Chi Yang had gone into heat under her pheromones.
“You can’t mark me anyway,” Pei Jiuyao murmured, leaning close to her ear, breath brushing temptingly. “So, I’ll mark you instead.”
In the brief moment Chi Yang blanked out, Pei Jiuyao flipped her over and pressed her down, pinning her shoulder blades to the mattress.
“Y–Yao, gentle—ah.”
Chi Yang’s body jolted. It took Pei Jiuyao one second to move from kissing her gland to piercing it completely.
Then came the exchange of pheromones—sticky strawberry sweetness and crisp cedar entwining, the aftertone melting into the warmth of cream cake, soaking into the wooden cabinet like candlewax seeping into grain.
Moisture beaded across Chi Yang’s skin as well, as though it was seeping straight from beneath her porcelain-pale surface, dampening the entire bedsheet.
Pei Jiuyao’s fingers roamed with restless impatience. During her susceptibility period she had boundless energy—she could lose herself in this for days without sleep.
Chi Yang’s long hair spilled around her, fingers gripping the sheets, her cheek pressed into the pillow, lower lip bitten as she endured the marking.
Her gland was swollen and sensitive, her pheromones spilling uncontrolled—flooding out like a broken dam.
Pei Jiuyao suddenly leaned in, her heavy breathing hitting Chi Yang’s ear.
She pried Chi Yang’s teeth open with her fingers, teasing inside her mouth. “Don’t bite. I want to hear your voice.”
“Yao, mm.” Chi Yang instinctively closed her teeth, but the moment she touched Pei Jiuyao’s fingers she loosened again.
Her ears flushed dark red as she panted, “Yaoyao, baby, don’t bully me.”
“But I like it.” Pei Jiuyao’s heart pounded wildly at the syrupy softness of Chi Yang’s voice.
Chi Yang nudged her with an elbow and whispered, “It doesn’t sound good.”
She had never heard herself so soft. She preferred her clear, cool, proud tone when she was calm. Every heat made her voice unrecognizable.
And she couldn’t control all the strange sounds she made—utterly mortifying.
Pei Jiuyao kept her fingers between Chi Yang’s lips and suddenly pressed harder—and just as expected, Chi Yang let out a defenseless, unguarded sound.
Her face flamed instantly. “You did that on purpose.”
“It’s beautiful. Don’t bite.” Pei Jiuyao kissed her temple. “I like it—isn’t that enough?”
“You like it?” Chi Yang gripped her wrist.
Would she really like this version of her? Uncontrolled, shameless, undone?
Pei Jiuyao took her earlobe into her mouth and bit gently, then trailed to the red mole behind her ear, whispering sticky-sweet, “Of course I do, Xiao Li. You don’t even know how tempting you are.”
Chi Yang’s tightly strung nerves slowly released. For the first time she admitted—this side of her might truly be seductive.
So, she let herself be pulled along by the messy, overwhelming desire, holding Pei Jiuyao close, soaking in the rare warmth, then letting go completely, sliding deeper into the tide.
Pei Jiuyao’s susceptibility period dragged on. When she wasn’t asleep, she was restless and wound tight. Chi Yang had fed her nutrient solution several times and, unable to stand the endless mouth-to-mouth, ended up giving her every suppressant injection available.
But even that couldn’t suppress the tyrant Alpha’s desire.
The sedatives in the suppressants barely worked—this Alpha only needed three or four hours of sleep to be fully awake again.
So, when Chi Yang, dark circles under her eyes, was jolted awake again, she was seriously considering feeding Pei Jiuyao actual sleeping pills.
