- Chapter 66.2 - Woken Up by Her While Still Half-Conscious
She didn’t get the chance—her body went weak first.
Pei Jiuyao’s tongue was simply too hot. Kissing alone made her lose control; anything more than that was impossible to endure. A year apart, and her skills had somehow sharpened even further.
Skills sharpened? Even further?
Chi Yang grabbed the sheets and pushed herself upright, sweat rolling down her temple to the tip of her nose.
“You, where did you learn all that?”
When Pei Jiuyao looked up, she teasingly licked the corner of her lips, raised a brow, and asked,
“Do I really need to be taught that?”
Forget it—there was no talking sense into a tyrant.
The bedsheets, the sofa, the carpet, the bathroom, even the dining table—everywhere had been filled with the sight of them tangled in each other’s arms.
The time on the dining table left Chi Yang smeared head to toe with jam. As she stared into Pei Jiuyao’s bright, gleaming eyes, she thought to herself: I can never eat here again for the rest of my life.
Near the end, Chi Yang was wiping herself down in the bathroom. Pei Jiuyao pushed open the door, and Chi Yang stared at the broken lock—the one Pei Jiuyao had slapped clean off its hinges earlier. She froze for two seconds, just about to bolt when Pei Jiuyao caught her wrist, yanked her back in, and lifted her into her arms.
In that moment, Chi Yang suddenly felt, maybe she wasn’t as principled as she thought.
“Pei Jiuyao, if you dare, if you do it again, I’ll break up with— I’ll ignore you for three whole days!” Chi Yang declared, sitting righteously on Pei Jiuyao’s lap.
Pei Jiuyao used her usual trick—pinching Chi Yang’s waist, rubbing her cheek against her neck, acting soft and spoiled.
“Just one last time, okay, jiejie?”
And Chi Yang’s bottom line evaporated all over again.
After coaxing Pei Jiuyao to sleep, Chi Yang’s legs were still shaking. Bracing herself against the wall, she made her way to the bathroom, applied some Omega-specific soothing balm, then pulled up her shirt collar to cover the marks all over her skin before slowly leaving the room and closing the door behind her.
Dusk settled. Golden light filtered through the sheer curtains and spilled across the neat, pristine bed.
When Pei Jiuyao woke again, a sharp pain shot through her head.
Her susceptibility period had already passed. Three chaotic days had gone by, plus the trip to the hospital to see Bai Zhi—she had practically missed two more episodes of the variety show.
Thank goodness she’d applied for leave.
But how exactly had she gotten through her susceptibility period?
She glanced at the box of inhibitors beside her bed—almost completely used up.
She must have powered through using inhibitors, right?
But then why did it feel like she had dreamed of Chi Yang?
And they had quite a bit of fun in that dream.
But Chi Yang was filming a show. How could she have come?
During previous susceptibility periods, when her brain was foggy, she’d hallucinated before—Chi Yang had appeared in those hallucinations too.
She still wasn’t used to Alpha susceptibility, but dreaming of Chi Yang had practically become routine.
Pei Jiuyao let out a soft sigh and reached for the nutrient drink on the table—only to notice the bandage wrapped around her finger.
Someone had been here.
Pei Jiuyao snapped upright, looking sharply behind her.
The bed was perfectly tidy—nothing but pillows and a blanket.
Which was exactly the problem. She knew how she behaved during susceptibility—there was no way the room would be this clean.
She walked to the living room. Spotless. Someone had cleaned.
Pei Jiuyao immediately pulled out her phone.
[Wen-jie, have you been to my place recently?]
It took Wen Li a few minutes to respond:
[No? What’s wrong? Lost something? Break-in? Sasaeng (extreme, obsessive fan) ? Paparazzi staked outside?]
Pei Jiuyao pressed her lips together and opened her chat with Chi Yang.
[What have you been doing these past few days?]
Half a second later:
[Filming the show, why?]
[You’ve been filming nonstop?]
FoxEarsToday:
[Yeah, what’s wrong? Miss me?]
Not Chi Yang.
Not Wen Li.
Then who?
Pei Jiuyao stood abruptly, pacing the room in agitation. After a moment, she forced herself to calm down. She finished the nutrient drink, grabbed her car keys, and walked out.
At the hospital, Bai Zhi was doing yoga on the bed.
Pei Jiuyao pushed open the door and said coldly to the three assistants,
“Out.”
They exchanged confused glances. Bai Zhi looked at Pei Jiuyao, then said casually, “Go on, all of you.”
Once they left, Pei Jiuyao slammed the door shut.
“What’s with the attitude?” Bai Zhi tilted her head. “Your susceptibility period just ended, and you had no Omega to vent on, so you came to vent on me?”
“Cut the act, Bai Zhi.” Pei Jiuyao strode forward, grabbing Bai Zhi by the collar. “Was it you?”
Bai Zhi froze. Her eyes darkened immediately. She lifted her other arm to press down on Pei Jiuyao’s wrist and said coldly, “Are you out of your mind?”
Pei Jiuyao’s eyes were red.
“You said before you’d send a strawberry-scented Omega to my place. Was it you?”
Bai Zhi’s fingers tightened. She stared at Pei Jiuyao for a long moment, then laughed softly.
“You slept with an Omega? And here I thought you only slept with Chi Yang.”
“So, it was you! I told you before—this crosses my bottom line!” Pei Jiuyao lifted a fist, ready to strike, but Bai Zhi barked at her to stop.
Bai Zhi coughed. “Hey! It really wasn’t me. I still remember you kicking me out of my own house a year ago.”
“Even if I wanted to mess with you, I wouldn’t go as far as stuffing someone into your bed while you’re in susceptibility.” Bai Zhi looked speechless. “Pei Jiuyao, who do you think you are? You’re not my political rival. Why would I need to deal with you like that?”
Pei Jiuyao slowly unclenched her fist.
Seeing her ease up, Bai Zhi added,
“Maybe it really was Chi Yang? You used to be so calm—how is it that the moment it involves her, you—”
“I already asked. She said she’s been filming.”
Pei Jiuyao still couldn’t accept that she had slept with a strawberry-scented Omega while unconscious—and mistaken her for Chi Yang.
Just thinking about it made her tremble, nausea rising in her throat.
A stranger. In her bed.
During her susceptibility period.
With Chi Yang’s scent.
That was bad enough.
But the worst part.
She had mistaken that person for Chi Yang.
“I’m going back to the show.” Pei Jiuyao said, voice icy as her fingers curled into a fist.
