- Chapter 55 - You’re My Baby, Always My Baby
Without warning, Ji Zhiyé pulled Wei Qin into her arms.
“Qin Qin, we don’t have to have a child. I only want you. Pregnancy is hard on the body, but this is your choice—I’ll respect whatever you decide. Qin Qin, just don’t leave me. I’m willing to do anything for you.”
Wei Qin’s expression grew awkward, glancing toward the two people watching them like it was a show.
Yu Wenxi gave a helpless smile and tugged Yan Run away.
Once they were inside the car, Yan Run asked, “Leaving so soon? Don’t you want to see how it ends?”
“No need,” Yu Wenxi replied with a laugh. “If Wei Qin has nothing left to say, then she’s already moved. If we stay any longer, they’ll be too embarrassed to show affection.”
Yan Run burst out laughing. “Fair enough. Oh, by the way, your check-up went fine, right?”
“Of course I’m fine.” Yu Wenxi reached over and pinched her little A’s cheek. “Wei Qin thought I was here for a fertility check. She even thought you might be… lacking.”
The Alpha’s temper flared instantly. “What?! How could she think that? I’m perfectly healthy!”
“I know, I told her the same thing,” Yu Wenxi said with a mischievous smile.
The Alpha promptly swept her into her arms and planted a deep, lingering kiss on her lips.
Hands roamed, lips teased—clearly, her desire was ignited.
“Let’s go back to our place,” Yan Run growled. “I’m not letting her look down on me!”
Yu Wenxi couldn’t stop laughing, even as her lips swelled from the Alpha’s kisses.
“You little rascal, don’t cover my neck in hickeys. We’re meeting Chuyin and the others tomorrow night.”
Yan Run protested, all wounded innocence. “How could I ever give my beloved wife hickeys?”
Yu Wenxi gave her a look. “Really?”
“…Fine. Just once,” Yan Run admitted. That time, Yu Wenxi had had to wear a choker to cover it up.
“Your neck is just too soft and pale,” Yan Run murmured, toying with it like a treasured possession.
Yu Wenxi shivered at the ticklish sensation—and noticed the car was slowly filling with Yan Run’s pheromones.
“A-Yan…” Yu Wenxi sighed helplessly. “Why are you starting this in the car?”
“I just want to kiss you, nothing else,” Yan Run said with a smile that sent shivers down her spine.
That evening, they had dinner plans with Lin Chuyin and Gu Zhen.
Yan Run had barely slept the night before. She kept thinking—Gu Zhen’s looks were no worse than Ji Zhiyé’s. She couldn’t possibly let Yu Wenxi lose face.
After all, she was Yu Wenxi’s one and only Alpha.
She stood before the mirror, tilting her head this way and that. Should she wear a dress? Or a suit and shirt? Lin Chuyin was a literary goddess—if she booked a restaurant, it was bound to be high-end. Maybe a gown would be better.
“What are you doing?” Yu Wenxi asked from the bed, book in hand, glasses off. She couldn’t help smiling at the Alpha primping in front of the mirror.
“Do you think I should wear a gown or a suit tomorrow?” Yan Run asked.
Yu Wenxi chuckled. “It’s just a dinner, no need to be so formal.”
Yan Run pouted stubbornly. “No, I need to outshine Gu Zhen. She’s pretty, so I have to look even better. I can’t embarrass my wife.”
What a strange Alpha brain.
Yu Wenxi shook her head, laughing. She crooked a finger. “Then wear a dress. Match me.”
Yan Run flushed, fidgeting. “I… almost never wear dresses.”
“Then don’t.”
“No—if you say wear one, I’ll wear one.”
Yu Wenxi couldn’t help but laugh. This silly thing… She beckoned. “I’m tired, baby.”
Yan Run put down the dress. She had been about to ask what color to choose, but seeing the fatigue in her wife’s eyes, she knew she must have worn her out last night.
She hurried over to massage her back. “Better now?”
Yu Wenxi let out a contented hum, rubbing her chin against the Alpha’s round one. “Much better. Thank you, baby.”
The Omega’s pampered tone made the Alpha grin like a fool.
Who would have thought—back then, Yan Run would message her, and Yu Wenxi wouldn’t even reply. Now, Yu Wenxi complained if she didn’t reply fast enough.
Yu Wenxi frowned slightly. Why is she grinning so stupidly?
“What are you smiling at? Completely ruining your image.”
Yan Run’s fingers wandered lazily along her arm. “Just thinking… this loyal puppy finally won the beauty.”
Yu Wenxi rested her chin on her hand, leaning against her. “You’re no puppy.”
Yan Run thought about it. Back then, she pined for Yu Wenxi every year, while Yu Wenxi barely gave her the time of day. How was that not a puppy? But then again… in the end, Yu Wenxi treated her so well.
Maybe she was the only Alpha lucky enough to be spoiled like this.
“Don’t call yourself that,” Yu Wenxi murmured against her. “You’re my baby. Always my baby.”
A rosy flush crept over Yan Run’s face. “Am I really your baby?” Yu Wenxi wasn’t one for sweet talk, but when she said it, the rest of the world seemed to fade away.
“Of course, my little baby.” Yu Wenxi sighed in exasperation. Whether she said it or not, Yan Run would always find a way to make her.
On instinct, Yan Run pinned her down and gave her cheek a gentle bite.
Yu Wenxi thought it was a kiss—until she felt the nip. It wasn’t hard, but it was unexpected.
“What are you biting me for?”
“Just wanted to.”
“Are you a dog?” Yu Wenxi teased.
“I told you, I’m your loyal puppy.”
“No, no, no.” Yu Wenxi clapped a hand over her mouth. “Say that again and I’ll hit you.”
The poor Alpha whimpered into her palm, eyes pitiful until Yu Wenxi relented—only for her to pounce like an actual dog, tugging at her clothes.
“Then I’m your wife. And right now, we should be doing what wives do.”
Yu Wenxi wrapped her arms around her shoulders and bit the Alpha’s neck. “My turn to bite.”
Afterward, neither of them could sleep. They whispered to each other in the dark.
“Jie, do you think that Miss Lin is really with Gu Zhen?”
“I don’t know. She hasn’t told me.”
Yan Run pursed her lips, then smirked. “Guess she doesn’t see you as much of a friend, huh?”
Yu Wenxi frowned and swatted her. “What’s that supposed to mean? Don’t stir up trouble.”
Seeing she was genuinely annoyed, Yan Run didn’t dare push it. She rolled over, sticking her butt out. “Jie, just hit me. I was wrong. Wuwuwu…”
This infuriating A.
Yu Wenxi truly had no idea how to teach her a proper lesson.
“I think Gu Zhen’s brain must be a little faulty—her moods are all over the place. If Miss Lin were to marry her, she might just end up being a victim of domestic violence.”
She really did look down on Gu Zhen.
Yu Wenxi shook her head. “I don’t really know her that well.”
“You honestly don’t hate her?” Yan Run asked.
“It’s fine. As long as she treats my friend well, I don’t care what you think of her.” Yu Wenxi reached over to pinch Yan Run’s soft, chubby cheek. “When the time comes, just mind your tone. I’m really afraid you’ll throw in a few sarcastic jabs here and there.”
“Then I won’t be sarcastic—I’ll just be passive-aggressive.”
“Yan Run.”
“Alright, alright, fine. I’ll listen to my wife.”
“That’s better. I’m feeling a bit sleepy now, so hold me while we sleep.”
“Come here.”
Yan Run contentedly gathered her wife into her arms, but the thought of Gu Zhen insulting Yu Wenxi earlier still made her grit her teeth in anger.

At first, Gu Zhen had no desire to have dinner with Yan Run, but Lin Chuyin had coaxed and persuaded her again and again.
For the sake of her elder sister’s feelings, Gu Zhen couldn’t refuse.
She was led by Lin Chuyin into an upscale restaurant. While waiting for the married couple to arrive, she fiddled idly with her collar and huffed, “So late already? They’re really not giving you any respect, jie.”
Lin Chuyin merely smiled, serene as always. Dressed in her usual pure white gown, her long jet-black hair pinned up, she looked like a gentle woman from a painting, rinsing clothes by the riverside. She squeezed Gu Zhen’s hand softly. “Don’t be impatient. They ran into something urgent before heading out—it won’t be long.”
The sound of her voice, crisp as windchimes, smoothed away Gu Zhen’s irritation. She smiled and squeezed her sister’s hand in return.
After a while, Yan Run and Yu Wenxi finally arrived—fashionably late.
Yu Wenxi wore a black gown paired with a matching blazer to guard against the chill. Yan Run was in a pale moon-colored dress, her hair meticulously curled, makeup flawless and striking. She didn’t look like she’d come for a casual gathering, but rather like she’d come to dazzle. Their entrance was so stunning that even the waitstaff couldn’t help but let out excited squeals.
Thankfully, Lin Chuyin had reserved the entire venue at this hour to ensure Yu Wenxi, the celebrity, had her privacy.
The reason for their tardiness? Yan Run had suffered a stomach ache earlier and only recovered after a while.
Yu Wenxi, worried about her wife’s health, could only apologize to Lin Chuyin for being late.
Fortunately, Lin Chuyin was far too gentle to be even the slightest bit upset.
“I’m truly sorry for keeping you waiting.”
Yu Wenxi led Yan Run to sit down.
Yan Run’s gaze immediately locked onto Gu Zhen across from her. The two top-tier Alphas stared each other down, and for a moment, it felt like sparks were flying between them.
Yu Wenxi noticed the hostility in Gu Zhen’s eyes and promptly placed her hand over Yan Run’s.
Feeling her beloved Omega’s touch, Yan Run thought to herself that this wasn’t worth a fight.
Lin Chuyin suggested the two of them order first.
She smiled at Gu Zhen. “Zhenzhen, what would you like to eat?”
The sharp, cold look Gu Zhen had been throwing at Yan Run vanished the moment she turned to Lin Chuyin. Her lips curved into a smile, her gaze softening. “You order for me, jie. I… don’t mind what we eat.”
What an affected, pretentious tone.
Yan Run almost gagged.
She set down the menu, leaned into Yu Wenxi’s shoulder, and drawled coquettishly, “Wife, I don’t know what to order either. Why don’t you pick for me? I’m not picky.”
Gu Zhen’s eye twitched as she glared daggers at Yan Run.
Yu Wenxi sighed inwardly. What was this Alpha picking a fight over now?
After the ordering was done, Lin Chuyin turned to Yu Wenxi with an apologetic expression. “Wenxi, I truly am sorry.”
“You’ve already apologized. We’re friends—why would I mind?”
Lin Chuyin held Yu Wenxi’s hand. The two Omegas, both breathtaking in their own ways, looked like a scene straight out of a painting. Her eyes sparkled as she smiled. “I still feel bad about what happened, so I thought I’d bring Gu Zhen to apologize to you in person.”
She looked at Gu Zhen gently. “Zhenzhen?”
Gu Zhen drew in a deep breath. She opened her mouth, but no words came out.
Yan Run mocked from the side, “What’s wrong? Cat got your tongue?”
Gu Zhen bit her lip. A few days ago, Lin Chuyin had all but pleaded with her to apologize to Yu Wenxi, and she had reluctantly agreed. But she hadn’t expected Lin Chuyin to also invite Yu Wenxi’s wife. If Yan Run wasn’t sitting there watching, she would have apologized without hesitation.
This damned Alpha and her snide remarks were only making it worse.
Lin Chuyin placed a hand on her leg, urging her softly. “Zhenzhen?”
After what felt like ages, Gu Zhen finally spoke. “I’m sorry, Miss Yu. I regret the things I said before, so I wanted to apologize to you here in person.”
Her tone was at least sincere enough. Yan Run let out a quiet, derisive snort.
For her friend’s sake, Yu Wenxi naturally wouldn’t hold a grudge. She smiled faintly. “You do listen to your sister, don’t you?”
Gu Zhen’s lips curved into a faint smile.
Lin Chuyin asked carefully, “So… everything’s fine now?”
Yu Wenxi shook her head lightly. “It’s fine. I’d never get upset over a few words like that.”
Yan Run suddenly interjected, “Well, I mind.”
