- Chapter 40 - Jie, I Think I Remember Now
Yan Huainan and Xu Chenghuan exchanged a knowing glance before quietly taking Yan Zhi away.
Yu Wenxi stepped forward. Her peach blossom eyes were rimmed with bloodshot veins—clear proof she hadn’t slept a wink all night.
“I’m here,” she said softly, sitting down by the bed to soothe Yan Run, who had been longing to see her.
Yan Run’s head throbbed, but her gaze never left the Omega, as if afraid she might vanish the moment she looked away.
Yu Wenxi gently tucked a strand of hair behind Yan Run’s ear. “When you fell, you hit your head. If it hurts too much, I’ll call the doctor.”
“No…”
Yan Run clutched the hem of Yu Wenxi’s clothes like a petulant child, unwilling to let anyone intrude on their little world.
“Did we… get our marriage certificate?” Yan Run asked.
Yu Wenxi froze for a moment, then quickly nodded. Terrified that Yan Run had forgotten again, she hurried to fill in the details to jog her memory.
“Yes. We registered our marriage. Then we stayed at a hotel—remember? I talked in my sleep, but you misheard ‘A-Yan’ as ‘Ah Yue.’ After that, we joined the dating show. We even deliberately showed off our affection just so my grandmother would see—”
“No.”
Yu Wenxi blinked. “What?”
“Who said we pretended to be affectionate? We were affectionate to begin with.” Yan Run frowned, clearly displeased at the thought of the internet not knowing how much she and Yu Wenxi truly loved each other.
Yu Wenxi still didn’t understand why she suddenly insisted on this point, until she heard Yan Run say, word by word:
“Jiejie… I think I remember now.”
Yu Wenxi’s mind went blank. Her eyes welled up, and fat tears rolled down, one by one, onto Yan Run’s arm.
Yan Run couldn’t bear to see her beloved cry. She hurried to comfort her. “Why are you crying? Don’t cry, don’t cry.”
Yu Wenxi pushed her hand away, suspicion flickering in her eyes. “What exactly do you remember? Tell me a few things.”
Yan Run made a small sound of protest. Wasn’t remembering a good thing? Why didn’t she believe her?
She thought for a moment, then her expression turned mischievous. “The first time we did it was at my place.”
Yu Wenxi’s face changed instantly. She clapped a hand over Yan Run’s mouth but slowly lowered it again, letting her continue.
“But I didn’t know what to do, so you showed me a couple of videos. In the end, I couldn’t help myself and pounced on you. The whole time you kept telling me I was amazing, and I was so happy. Afterward, you didn’t blame me—you just kept kissing and hugging me, saying, ‘Baby, you’re the best.’”
Yu Wenxi shot her a glare. “Pervert Alpha. You remember that in such detail?”
The Alpha looked smug. “Of course. It was my first time.”
Yu Wenxi’s fists itched, but since the shameless Alpha was injured, she decided to let it go—for now.
Her head still throbbed too much to close her eyes, but keeping them open to gaze at Yu Wenxi felt like the happiest thing in the world.
Perhaps it was the pull of emotion that made Yu Wenxi step closer. She heard the Alpha whisper, “Jiejie, I want to kiss you.”
Instinctively, Yu Wenxi released a trace of her pheromones to ease her Alpha’s discomfort.
“Where do you want to kiss?” she asked, mischievous as ever.
Yan Run brushed her fingers lightly over Yu Wenxi’s lips, the touch infused with the faint scent of jasmine tea. “Right here.”
Yu Wenxi tilted her head slightly, her lips a blaze of red, pressing them firmly against the Alpha’s. Yan Run’s post-rain citrus scent mingled perfectly with her own, the two pheromones weaving together.
Yu Wenxi had kissed Yan Run many times before, but only now did she realize—kissing could be such a luxury. She loved Yan Run, loved her to the depths.
When she saw Yan Run hit her head, her heart clenched in agony. It was almost the same as the time she watched Yan Run fall down the mountain—her soul had been wrenched away. This time, seeing the collision happen right before her eyes, she felt her very spirit leave her body, trembling uncontrollably.
After that, she had boldly announced their relationship to the world, declaring that she would marry Yan Run. Now, she swore to protect her—Yan Run had shielded her enough; it was her turn.
“A-Yan, I love you.”
“I only love you.”
Outside, Yan Huainan and the others were still worried, eavesdropping by the door.
“Is Run’er okay?” Xu Chenghuan whispered.
“She should be fine. Otherwise Miss Yu would have called the doctor,” Yan Zhi replied.
Yan Huainan frowned. “I think I hear her talking.”
“Really?!” The other two looked delighted.
They immediately pushed open the door—only to be greeted by the sight of the two locked in a deep, lingering kiss.
The shameless Alpha even had her arms hooked around her Omega’s neck, completely immersed. Yu Wenxi, startled by the sound of the door, turned to see the three of them frozen in place.
Yan Zhi silently closed the door and walked out.
She couldn’t help but chuckle. Having someone to like was nice… too bad she didn’t seem to have anyone she liked.
Calling her still-embarrassed father, she said, “Forget it, you two come out. Let the lovebirds kiss in peace. I’ll wait for you at Xiao Junman Restaurant for dinner.”
When Yan Zhi arrived at the restaurant—famous for its glowing reviews and exquisite dishes—she decided it was the perfect chance for her parents to try it. If they liked it, she might even buy the place.
As she was reading the menu, a graceful figure appeared at the door, knocking lightly.
A sultry, teasing voice followed: “President Yan, if you don’t know what to order, you could always take a look at me instead.”

After Yan Huainan and Xu Chenghuan left, Yan Run sulked at the disruption. “We were kissing so nicely…”
Yu Wenxi chuckled helplessly. “It’s fine. You’ll have plenty more chances to kiss me.”
Yan Run grinned—but a sudden pang in her head made her cry out. “Jiejie, it hurts!”
Yu Wenxi panicked at the sight of her Alpha tearing up and quickly ran to call the doctor.
A few days later, Yan Run’s condition had improved, though she still needed rest. After much discussion, both families agreed she should recuperate at the Yu residence. He Yunzhi was beside herself with worry when she heard her granddaughter-in-law was hurt.
But the dating show couldn’t be postponed forever, so they simply filmed it at the Yu house.
Yan Run, quite at ease, slept in Yu Wenxi’s bed—waking up to see her face was the height of bliss.
Though she was supposed to rest, her legs worked just fine. Yu Wenxi refused to let her laze around, often taking her out for short walks to keep her fit.
Her care was so attentive that even He Yunzhi grew a little jealous.
The moment Yan Run said she was in pain, Yu Wenxi would make her sit, bring her tea or water, and even massage her back herself.
【How is Ergou this lucky? She’s got Xixi massaging her!】
【When did Xixi become so attentive? She used to barely acknowledge Ergou’s efforts.】
【Well, Ergou is injured. I guess Xixi just wants to take good care of her… but this level of care is unexpected.】
【If this is acting, Xixi deserves an award—though I doubt it’s an act.】
【They’re just in love. Ergou must have had insane luck to land such a beautiful, thoughtful wife.】
【CP fans, your time has come. I won’t even argue this time.】
He Yunzhi ordered the chef to prepare a nourishing bowl of white fungus and lotus seed porridge and asked Yu Wenxi to deliver it personally.
That evening, as overcast skies loomed outside, Yan Run lounged in bed.
The moment Yu Wenxi entered with the tray, she flung off the covers and called out, “Wife!”
“Stay in bed,” Yu Wenxi chided with a smile. “It’s not hot. I’m fine carrying it.”
Yan Run murmured an obedient “Oh,” touched by her wife’s care. Still… even injured, her mind wandered to more intimate possibilities. Honestly, head injury or not, I’m still thinking about doing it? I really am a shameless, lecherous Alpha…
Yu Wenxi sat down, scooped up a spoonful, blew on it gently, and brought it to her lips. “Grandma made this specially for you. It’s great for the stomach—she eats it all the time.”
Yan Run took a sip. The gentle sweetness spread across her tongue, warming her heart as well. She smiled. “Please thank Grandma for me.”
Yu Wenxi’s smile softened, a rare shyness in her expression that made Yan Run’s heart itch.
Though her head still hurt, her hands and feet worked just fine. She hadn’t been intimate for months—what better time than now?
As Yu Wenxi dabbed at her lips with a tissue, Yan Run leaned in and gently licked her fingertips.
Yu Wenxi froze.
She continued to feed her, her eyes softening with each spoonful.
This private intimacy between wives was theirs alone to know.
Yu Wenxi’s focus was entirely on making sure the patient ate. She ignored the flirty glances—until Yan Run choked.
Patting her back anxiously, she asked, “Are you okay?”
Face red from coughing, Yan Run wheezed, “Jiejie, are you trying to murder your wife?”
Yu Wenxi huffed, feigning indifference. Of course she wanted Yan Run to get better—but if that meant cooking for her every day for the rest of her life, she wouldn’t mind.
That night, Yan Run joined the family for dinner, carefully supported by Yu Wenxi, who even served her rice.
Her gentleness didn’t go unnoticed by He Yunzhi and Yu Huanzhu—especially now that Yan Run’s memories were back. For the first time, they truly seemed like a married couple.
Yan Run was unusually chatty, laughing and talking with the two elders—much to the viewers’ surprise.
【Did the head injury mess her up? She barely talked to the grandparents before, now she’s more enthusiastic than Xixi.】
【At this rate, I’m starting to think she’s their real granddaughter.】
Yu Wenxi responded now and then, alternating between serving food and wiping Yan Run’s mouth as if caring for a child.
Suddenly, He Yunzhi asked, “So, when are you two having children?”
Yu Wenxi smiled. “No rush, Grandma. A-Yan’s still recovering—we can talk about it later.”
