- Chapter 34 - Yu Wenxi Uses Her Pheromones to Knock Her Out
She recalled the events of last night—Yu Wenxi had used her pheromones to make her dizzy and disoriented. And afterward… ah—afterward, she’d actually been quite happy.
The memory made Yan Run’s face flush scarlet.
“I… I’ll go out and get you breakfast…”
Yu Wenxi let out a soft, kittenish whimper, rubbing her head against Yan Run’s shoulder like a lazy cat.
“Nooo… stay here and sleep a little longer, okay?”
Yan Run frowned. This woman… she was impossible to refuse!
After a while of being tangled together, Yan Run still couldn’t fall back asleep, while Yu Wenxi—still holding her—was the one who drifted off and started breathing softly in slumber.
They didn’t have a livestream today. The director had even called personally, saying Yan Huainan wanted to invite them out for a meal.
Yan Run replied: No, we’re at our new home right now.
The director frowned at first, then quickly broke into a delighted smile and immediately called Yan Huainan. This was fantastic news!
By the time Yu Wenxi’s weight had left her arm aching, she began to stir with mild “just-woke-up” grumpiness. Taking the chance as Yu Wenxi turned over, Yan Run carefully pulled her arm free, put on her
clothes, and said,
“I’ll go downstairs and make you breakfast.”
Yu Wenxi lazily hummed in response, her voice soft and unhurried:
“Then I want tofu pudding and a pancake from East Street—no cilantro, no scallions, but add some pork tenderloin and sausage.”
“East Street?” Yan Run frowned. She’d never heard of the place.
Yu Wenxi yawned.
“Northwest district, East Street…”
Once she had the address, Yan Run drove there to get breakfast. What greeted her eyes was a row of more than a dozen street stalls lined up side by side, most of the customers clearly locals from the surrounding neighborhood. The food here was cheap, but not exactly clean-looking. Many office workers on the way to work stopped by to grab something, while the vendors called out in dialects Yan Run couldn’t quite place.
She froze for a moment—Yu Wenxi, a bona fide heiress, actually liked eating breakfast here? This didn’t fit her style at all.
Eventually, Yan Run found a stall selling tofu pudding and pancakes. The moment the people waiting saw a well-dressed Alpha in designer clothes walk up, they all turned to stare, their expressions openly curious.
Only after the small crowd dispersed did Yan Run order:
“Two bowls of tofu pudding, two pancakes with pork tenderloin and sausage—no cilantro, no scallions. And make one of them…”
“Lightly spicy, right?” the stall owner cut in with a knowing smile.
Yan Run blinked. “How do you know?”
The man chuckled. “Second Young Lady, you come here all the time for pancakes—how could I not know? Haven’t seen you in a while though. I thought you’d gotten tired of them.”
Yan Run froze again. I used to come here?
“Is that so?” she asked lightly.
“Of course,” the owner said cheerfully. “You and Miss Yu come by together all the time. Oh, and about your dating show—we even tuned in to watch. But wow, why are there so many people criticizing you? I told them Miss Yu and you are truly in love, but they just wouldn’t believe it. I mean, come on! I’ve seen you two here together plenty of times, all lovey-dovey. How could you not be real?”
“…We came here often?” Yan Run didn’t know what to say. She wanted to ask more, but a wave of customers arrived, crowding the stall. She paid, took the fresh breakfast, and headed back to the car.
Maybe this had been back when Yu Wenxi was just “playing” with her. But why would Yu Wenxi bring her here? Could it has been her who brought Yu Wenxi—and Yu Wenxi had agreed?
With the question lingering in her mind, Yan Run finally drove back to their new home.
As soon as she stepped in, she heard the whirring of a blender. Yu Wenxi stood in the kitchen wearing an apron, slicing apples. The apron wasn’t large, and with only a thin fitted T-shirt and shorts underneath, the sight carried an almost teasing kind of allure.
Yan Run stared, momentarily dazed, recalling the night before—Yu Wenxi pressed against her without a single stitch on, breathing in that intoxicating jasmine scent, and those soft, yielding curves…
Yu Wenxi turned with a smile. “You’re back?”
Yan Run nodded, setting the tofu pudding and pancakes on the table.
Just then, Yu Wenxi finished making the apple juice, carrying out two glasses. She handed one to Yan Run, smiling:
“Have some juice in the morning—it’s good for cleansing the system.”
Yan Run murmured an “Mm,” taking a sip. The sweet, fragrant taste of fresh apples lingered on her tongue.
Yu Wenxi drank a few mouthfuls before setting hers down, then opened the container of tofu pudding.
“It’s been so long since I had breakfast from that stall… I wonder if the taste has changed.”
Yan Run asked, “The owner said I used to take you there for pancakes?”
Yu Wenxi paused briefly before smiling.
“Mm. You were the one who took me. I liked it a lot.”
Yan Run sat down and opened her own tofu pudding and pancake. The pancake was a little firm from the wait, but generously filled and richly fragrant.
The tofu pudding was topped with chopped scallions, tiny shrimp, and seaweed—savory tofu pudding, a specialty of A City.
Yu Wenxi ate with quiet elegance. Perhaps the Yu family table had never served such food, but she knew exactly how to eat it neatly without spilling any bits of preserved vegetables. Compared to Yan Run’s casual, unrestrained style, Yu Wenxi’s grace seemed entirely natural.
Yu Wenxi said, “That day you stayed over at my place. Around seven, you knocked on my door. Back then, the Yu family hadn’t even started breakfast yet. You woke me up, and I groggily opened the door. You said you wanted to take me to a great place, so before I’d even finished washing up, you were pulling me into the car and driving to East Street.
There were so many street foods there—things I’d never seen before. Hangcheng soup dumplings, beef pan-fried buns, Huaijiang beef noodles, fried rice noodles, and tofu rice cakes… Then you bought me tofu pudding and a jianbing from one particular stall, and we ate them right there in the car.
It was my first time trying food like that, and I found it fascinating. Seeing you devour yours so hungrily, I just followed your lead. At first, some bits of pickled vegetable from the filling fell onto my clothes, and you kept fussing over wiping me clean. You were worried I’d be upset because of my cleanliness habits, but I wasn’t the slightest bit angry—because it was delicious. The best food I’d ever had, something I’d never tasted before…”
Yan Run was a little dazed as she listened. She could clearly see the way Yu Wenxi’s eyes softened, as if she were reliving those moments, smiling as she spoke, as though that memory was etched into her heart forever.
Yan Run pressed her lips together. “Is that so?”
She tried to recall it, but her mind was a complete blank—nothing about East Street came to her.
“Sorry… I can’t remember a thing.”
Yu Wenxi smiled faintly. “It’s fine.”
Yan Run said, “I am curious, though. You actually followed me to East Street to eat? Weren’t you worried I’d… do something to you?”
Yu Wenxi shook her head. “You wouldn’t dare. Back then, you were the one chasing after me relentlessly. What could you possibly have done to me?”
Yan Run choked on her words. From the way Yu Wenxi said it, she sounded like… a lovesick puppy.
“And then?”
“What do you mean, ‘and then’?” Yu Wenxi asked.
“You never told me about what happened later—with Ah Yue and you.”
“I already told you—Ah Yue was you.”
“Then what about what happened between you and me after that?” Yan Run asked.
Yu Wenxi went quiet and didn’t answer.
Yan Run pressed on. “Why did you want to be with me? Did you just think I was fun?”
Yu Wenxi lifted her gaze to meet hers and shook her head. “I don’t play with people I like.”
Yan Run froze, unsure of what she meant. Did that mean Yu Wenxi… liked her? But the next second, she thought it was absurd.
She and the Yan Run from before weren’t the same person anymore. The old Yan Run could throw away her pride to pine after Yu Wenxi, but she wasn’t like that. She didn’t love Yu Wenxi—she just had a certain fondness for her, that was all.
Yu Wenxi said, “Let me make this perfectly clear—I never liked anyone named Ah Yue. From start to finish, it’s only ever been one person: A-Yan.”
“Then why was I called a scummy Alpha? Why did I take Omegas to hotels? You told me I loved you so much.” Yan Run asked again.
Yu Wenxi pressed her lips together, clearly unwilling to answer. “Drink your apple juice,” she said.
“Why won’t you answer me?”
Yu Wenxi clenched her fists. “Because I’m afraid of losing you.”
Yan Run let out a cold laugh. “So you do have something to be guilty about?”
Yu Wenxi lowered her head for a moment. Her eyes looked slightly red before she suddenly covered her face and ran upstairs.
Yan Run was stunned—had Yu Wenxi just… cried?
She cried?
Yan Run still hadn’t recovered from the shock. She had always thought of Yu Wenxi as stubborn and aloof—how could her words have made her cry like that?
Regret welled up inside her. She realized she’d been too aggressive just now. Yu Wenxi was an Omega—how could she possibly stand up to an Alpha’s pressure?
Carrying that guilt, she walked into the bedroom and saw Yu Wenxi sitting quietly on the bed. Her back was slender yet upright, the ends of her hair softly curled, resting still against her back.
Yan Run approached cautiously, then sat down gently, leaving fifty centimeters between them. Yu Wenxi’s profile was hidden behind her hair, so she scooted closer. Omegas ran cooler than Alphas, but their scent was something no Alpha could rival.
Softly, Yan Run said, “Don’t cry anymore. I won’t ask those questions again.”
Yu Wenxi didn’t respond, keeping her head lowered.
So Yan Run wrapped an arm around her shoulders, speaking gently to comfort her. “Don’t cry, don’t cry. I’m sorry, okay? It’s my fault—I shouldn’t have pushed you. As long as you don’t cry, I’ll do whatever you want…”
“Hold me,” Yu Wenxi murmured, voice thick with emotion.
Yan Run let out a small sigh, but in the end, she gave in and pulled her into her arms. Yet Yu Wenxi didn’t loosen her hold—she clung even tighter.
“You’re still crying?”
Yan Run felt the dampness against her chest and said awkwardly, “Come on, don’t cry anymore, okay? Like I said—whatever you want me to do, I’ll do it.”
“Really?” Suddenly, Yu Wenxi’s voice was calm. The tone alone made it clear—she wasn’t crying anymore.
Yan Run blinked in surprise. Yu Wenxi brushed back her hair, revealing those bright, fox-like eyes, and smiled. “You said it—if I stop crying, I can make you do anything. Well, I’m not crying now… so doesn’t that mean I can give you orders?”
The way she drawled out the words give you orders was laced with playful, unmistakable ambiguity.
Yan Run could only groan inwardly—this Omega was too clever.
