Chapter 128: Five Years Ago I Had No Regrets, …
“So, the good news you wanted to tell us tonight, over dinner with me and Qian Yu, is that you two are getting married?!” A few seconds of thick silence passed. Qian Yu slowly recovered, looking at them in disbelief, then turning to Ming Jing: “Are they… getting married?”
It had only been a few days! How could they suddenly decide to get married…
Ming Jing was also surprised, but knowing Tang Yin, the news seemed somewhat logical. As long as Xia Shinan was willing, Tang Yin was always ready. However… she was curious how Tang Yin managed to get Xia Shinan to agree to marriage.
Ming Jing: “Of course we wish you happiness and congratulations on your marriage, but it’s too sudden…”
Tang Yin raised an eyebrow proudly, smiling: “We’re not going to get married, we already registered our marriage. We are now legal wives.”
“Registered?!” Now Ming Jing was stunned, almost knocking over the cup beside her. “When did you register?”
“Yesterday,” Tang Yin smirked.
Qian Yu: “Then… when did you decide?”
Xia Shinan smiled faintly. “The day before yesterday.”
“What?!”
Qian Yu and Ming Jing exclaimed almost in unison. Getting back together less than two months ago was one thing, but deciding to get married and registering the marriage… in one night? That was too impulsive!
“But… Shinan, you are too impulsive. What about your work? Didn’t you notify the company? What about your fans?”
Qian Yu couldn’t help but worry. She felt Xia Shinan had acted on a momentary impulse to hastily accept Tang Yin’s proposal.
“Although I’m happy to see you both happy, but…”
“I understand,” Xia Shinan held Qian Yu’s hand. “I know your concern for me. Trust me, everything can be handled.”
Qian Yu looked at her friend. From five years ago until now, Xia Shinan was still the same—quietly doing big things and then telling her not to worry.
Xia Shinan had a strong heart, she knew what she was doing… Qian Yu couldn’t help but tear up. “Then… I wish you eternal happiness. Tang Yin, if you ever treat Shinan badly, I’ll take her away and make sure you never find her!”
Ming Jing panicked: “If you take Shinan away, what about me?”
Qian Yu didn’t look at her: “You’re not a good person either…”
Tang Yin gave a light smile, her tone very solemn: “Don’t worry, I will treat her very, very well. I won’t give you a single opportunity.”
Xia Shinan hugged Qian Yu, touched. “Thank you, Little Feather.”
Qian Yu took a tissue from Ming Jing and wiped her tears. “When are you planning to have the wedding then? I have experience with weddings, I can help!”
Tang Yin looked at Xia Shinan. “I can do it anytime… It depends on her schedule. I’m governed by Shinan. Whenever she says.”
Governed by her? Xia Shinan suddenly felt shy, then pretended to be indifferent. “Fine, how about we just skip the wedding? It sounds too troublesome.”
“No way!” Qian Yu looked serious. “The wedding must happen. You can’t skip it just because it’s troublesome. What if you regret it later? Right, Tang Yin?”
Tang Yin nodded. “But I listen to Shinan. Whatever kind of wedding she wants, we’ll have. If she doesn’t want one… then we won’t have one.”
Since registering their marriage yesterday, the stone that had been hanging over her heart suddenly dropped. From now on, she was governed by Xia Shinan. She had a lover and a family. For the rest of their lives, they would be known and accompanied by each other.
If Xia Shinan didn’t want a wedding, even if Tang Yin felt a bit regretful, the thought of their future married life would make up for it.
Qian Yu couldn’t help but get goosebumps. “I never thought Tang Yin would be someone who listens to her wife so obediently! Alright, alright, stop showing off your affection. It’s not like nobody else has a wife!”
Ming Jing nodded in agreement: “Exactly, we are happy too!”
Xia Shinan looked at them, suddenly recalling this day five years ago. She had just arrived in Singapore a few months prior, unfamiliar with the place and without many friends.
She couldn’t sleep because of the plane crash and ended up seeing a therapist…
At that time, she thought she would just drift through the rest of her life in a daze. She never imagined that five years later, she would be back with Tang Yin, with her friends still around, laughing and playing. This was a scene she couldn’t even dream of.
“What are you thinking about?” Tang Yin gently squeezed her palm, asking softly.
Xia Shinan curved her lips. “Nothing, I’m just very happy.”
“I’m happy too, Wife.”
Tang Yin whispered this sentence close to her ear. Although she had said it many times last night, Xia Shinan still felt her heart flutter. She lowered her gaze, looking at her hand tightly clasped with Tang Yin’s. Happiness… it seemed she had already held it in her grasp, and there was no need to chase it anymore.
The next day, Tang Yin reluctantly went to the company for a featured interview.
“How about I let Ming Jing go instead…” Tang Yin mumbled, hugging Xia Shinan.
“Ming Jing is accompanying Qian Yu for a medical check-up today, did you forget?” Xia Shinan smiled. “Someone used her public office for private gain to take this interview, just so I could stay here longer. Regretting it now?”
Tang Yin rubbed Xia Shinan’s neck irritably. “I told you, ‘using public office for private gain’ is not the right idiom.”
Xia Shinan gently touched her face. “Be good. Just treat it as going to see if this reporter is easy to talk to, so I can be prepared for my interview tomorrow.”
“Alright, alright, I’m willing to do anything for you,” Tang Yin said, taking the hint Xia Shinan offered. “So, are you going to stay home alone today?”
Xia Shinan nodded. “I’ll talk to Tao Yi about my upcoming work schedule… I’ll cook dinner and wait for you to come home tonight. How does that sound?”
Tang Yin frowned. “Don’t cook. It’s too tiring! I’ll cook when I get back.”
“It’s not tiring! I used to cook for myself in Singapore, and I have a signature dish!” Xia Shinan pushed Tang Yin out. “Stop dragging your feet. If people at your company knew that CEO Tang was late because she was reluctant to leave home, they’d laugh at you.”
“Am I afraid of that?” Tang Yin raised an eyebrow, but obediently walked to the entryway to change her shoes. “I’m leaving now, Wife.”
“Mhm…” Hurry up.
“No, you didn’t call me ‘Wife,’ and you didn’t kiss me.” Tang Yin stopped, very serious.
Xia Shinan smiled helplessly, then shyly gave her a kiss. “Go to work quickly, Wife!”
Having received a sweet kiss and the melodic two words, Tang Yin happily set off.
“CEO Tang shared many interesting anecdotes about the founding of SN, and the future direction of development, but… I believe many people are also curious about your private life.” Fang Yu looked at the elegant and wealthy woman in front of her, her eyes filled with anticipation.
She never dreamed she would get to interview Tang Yin. When she first sent the invitation, her colleagues mocked her for overreaching, but then Tang Yin’s assistant called and set up the interview time.
After the call ended, Fang Yu secretly believed that Tang Yin might remember her. After all, they both graduated from A University and had met once…
She had entertained a few fantasies, but as the interview neared its end, Fang Yu realized that CEO Tang didn’t seem to recognize her. She started to feel anxious. So, after completing the questions from her prepared article, she couldn’t help but ask other things.
“CEO Tang, would you mind sharing your favorite kind of exercise?”
Tang Yin looked up and smiled softly at Fang Yu.
“I actually don’t have much time for exercise. I was in a car accident before, and my health isn’t great.”
Fang Yu nervously tucked her hair behind her ear. “I apologize, I forgot about that… I remember back at A University, CEO Tang even participated in the sports meet and won first prize in the women’s long-distance run.”
Tang Yin paused for a second. “I think that happened.”
She couldn’t remember winning the award, but she did remember the time she spent practicing running with Xia Shinan.
Fang Yu smiled. “I don’t know if CEO Tang remembers me. I also graduated from A University. Our two classes even took a group photo together, and you were standing right next to me…”
Tang Yin looked at Fang Yu and shook her head. “I apologize.”
Fang Yu’s smile stiffened for a second. “That’s okay… But since we’re alumnae, I was hoping CEO Tang could share a little more with me. What do you like to do in your free time? Do you travel?”
Tang Yin pretended to think for a moment. “My work is usually very busy, so when I do have free time, I prefer to spend it with my wife. As for travel… if my wife wants to go, I’ll go with her.”
Wife…
Fang Yu froze completely. Tang Yin was married?! Her research material hadn’t indicated this!
“This… CEO Tang is married? Since when?” she asked in shock.
“Recently.” When mentioning marriage, Tang Yin couldn’t hide her smile. She looked at the woman in front of her, immediately recognizing her ulterior motives. “I apologize, the interview time is over. I have work to do. If you have any questions, please contact my assistant.”
“But… CEO Tang…” Fang Yu stared blankly as Tang Yin left, feeling completely defeated. She had postponed all her work and changed her schedule just to interview Tang Yin, fantasizing about a unique encounter, only to be met with this result!
Tang Yin… was married?!
Who is her wife?
Xia Shinan chatted with Tao Yi for a while. She naturally didn’t hide the news of registering her marriage, only asking Tao Yi to keep it a secret for now.
Tao Yi, having witnessed their reconciliation, was overjoyed. “I’ll definitely keep it a secret! I just wonder when you plan to go public?”
Xia Shinan thought for a moment. “Soon.”
She didn’t plan to hide it for long, but too many things had happened recently, and a lot of issues needed to be handled one by one.
For example, Xia Tong, finding her biological mother, and… the curry bubbling on the stove.
“Gotta go! It’s going to burn!” Xia Shinan hastily hung up the phone and rushed to the kitchen.
She had confidently promised to cook her signature dish, but thinking back, she usually just whipped up whatever was easy. The dish she often made and still knew how to make well was curry rice.
Xia Shinan stirred the pot with a spoon. Only after confirming it hadn’t burned did she breathe a sigh of relief. Otherwise, Tang Yin would definitely tease her, maybe even ask: “Xia Shinan, is your signature dish burnt curry?”
But she was sure that even if Tang Yin said that, she would still smile and eat the curry Xia Shinan made herself.
Thinking of this, Xia Shinan’s heart felt like a jar of honey overflowing. The undeniable sweetness spread throughout the kitchen. She poured some milk into the pot and continued stirring, but just then, the doorbell rang.
That’s strange. Can’t Tang Yin open the door herself? Xia Shinan turned off the stove, then walked to the door. She looked through the peephole and was surprised to see the visitor was Shen Zhi?!
Xia Shinan opened the door, meeting Shen Zhi’s complicated and sorrowful gaze.
“Shen Zhi, why are you here?” This was Tang Yin’s home. Was she looking for Xia Shinan? Or Tang Yin?
Shen Zhi quietly looked at Xia Shinan, constantly telling herself that they were together, so living together was normal.
But… she thought of the other news she had heard today and still felt immense pain. She couldn’t help but come to confirm.
“Come in first.” Xia Shinan opened the door wider, inviting Shen Zhi in and looking for slippers for her.
She didn’t expect Shen Zhi’s first words to be: “I heard… you got married?”
Tang Yin parked her car and took the elevator up from the basement. In her hand, she carried the little cake from Xia Shinan’s favorite store. They had a new product today, and she had waited in line for quite a while to buy it. Fortunately, she got the last one—good luck indeed.
She was a bit late getting home, but she hoped Xia Shinan wouldn’t be too angry, especially given the little cake. Tang Yin’s lips curled into an involuntary smile as she thought about it. She glanced at her reflection in the elevator mirror, smiling like an idiot, but she didn’t mind at all.
Exiting the elevator, Tang Yin walked toward her door but noticed it was slightly ajar, as if the person inside hadn’t closed it properly.
She shook her head and walked forward, then stopped dead. She heard two people talking inside the house.
“I know you couldn’t let go of Tang Yin, so I can understand you getting back together with her, but… why are you so foolish as to marry her?”
Xia Shinan’s tone was calm. “Shen Zhi, I know you care about me, but right now, your concern is clearly overstepping the line.”
“You know! I like you! I can accept you going back to her, but I cannot accept you getting married so quickly!”
Shen Zhi’s eyes were red. She had secretly held onto a sliver of hope that perhaps Xia Shinan would get back with Tang Yin, find that it still wasn’t right, and then she would always have a chance.
But… how long had they been together? Now they were married? What did all her efforts during this time amount to? She wanted to become even better, good enough to rival Tang Yin, but everything had turned to dust!
“How long have you two been together? Tang Yin might have changed from before, but you just haven’t noticed yet. What if after another year or two, you realize you’re completely incompatible? What will you do if you regret it then? Shinan, have you truly thought this through!”
She spoke with anger, recalling the things she had investigated when Xia Shinan was trending: “I know everything. Five years ago, Tang Yin treated you like that… Are you seriously willing to marry her still? Shinan, don’t be naive!”
Xia Shinan looked at Shen Zhi, sighing softly: “Shen Zhi, I have thought it through clearly. I love Tang Yin, regardless of whether she has changed or not.”
“Being with Tang Yin, I had no regrets five years ago, and I have none today.”
Tang Yin stood motionless by the door, her hand resting on the doorknob. She didn’t move forward, nor did she leave. She couldn’t see Xia Shinan, but she could hear every word, spoken in a voice that was both gentle and incredibly firm.
“The marriage was indeed a bit hasty, but whether now or in the future, my other half will only be her.”
“Then why are you in such a rush…”
“Because Tang Yin is insecure, and I couldn’t think of what else to do, so I suggested marriage. I want to give her complete security. If marriage makes her happy, then we will get married.”
