- After the Breakup, My Ex-Boyfriend’s "White Moonlight" Became Obsessed With Me
- Chapter 11 - From Now On, It Has Nothing to Do with Me
Ji Yang seemed unable to listen any longer and abruptly stood up. “I am going to the restroom.” Without waiting for a response from the others, he strode out of the private room.
Zhou Jiayu asked in surprise, “What is wrong with Xiaoyang?”
Yin Zheng picked up the teapot and refilled everyone’s cups, saying casually, “Who knows?”
He Ran withdrew his gaze, checked the time on his wrist, and said, “My friends are still waiting for me, so I will head back now.”
Yin Zheng’s hand paused as he drank his tea. He looked up in realization. “You came here with friends?”
“What of it?” He Ran asked.
Yin Zheng smiled and feigned a heartbroken expression. “I thought you came specifically to find me. Sigh, I got excited for nothing.”
He Ran replied, “You are overthinking it.” He then stood up and said to the group, “Please continue your conversation; I will take my leave first.”
Zhou Jiayu said, “Alright then. By the way, I am counting on you for those signatures! I will treat you to dinner later!”
He Ran smiled. “Dinner is not necessary; it is no trouble at all.”
“I will walk you out.” Yin Zheng also stood up, stepping past him to lead the way.
The rejection was on the tip of He Ran’s tongue, but he was forced to swallow it. He followed gloomily behind him out the door. As the two walked along the club corridor, He Ran kept his eyes forward and spoke first.
“Can you tell me now? What exactly is the relationship between you and Ji Yang?”
Yin Zheng had his hands in his trouser pockets. Hearing this, he raised an eyebrow. “But you were late, so I cannot tell you today.”
He Ran shrugged and said indifferently, “If you will not say it, then forget it. It is not like I absolutely have to know.”
Yin Zheng stopped in his tracks, the smile on his lips faltering slightly. He Ran turned around to face him directly. His phoenix-like eyes were calm and waveless as he said, “Ji Yang and I have already broken up. Whatever the truth is no longer matters.”
“I was with him for five years. To be honest, I am a bit tired, and I do not want to be involved in your business anymore. Whether you two are together or not, from now on, it has nothing to do with me.”
“Although I can choose not to hold a grudge over the harm you both caused me, I do not want to see either of you ever again. This is far enough. Goodbye!”
He Ran gave him a rare smile and then turned to leave without a hint of lingering attachment. Yin Zheng stood in place, watching his tall and straight back grow distant until he turned a corner and disappeared. After a long while, he let out a soft laugh and whispered to himself, “He Ran, oh He Ran! You really are the same as before. What should I do? I am already starting to become impatient.”
He reached up, tucked a strand of hair behind his ear, and said softly, “Are you not coming out yet?”
After a long silence, a figure emerged from around the corner. He was lean and handsome; it was Ji Yang. However, his face was deathly pale, his eyes were bloodshot, and his body swayed like a trembling poplar tree.
Yin Zheng did not turn to look at him, seemingly knowing exactly who it was. He said, “You heard everything he said?”
Ji Yang gave a self-deprecating laugh. “What if I did? I never intended to get back together with him anyway. How could someone like me be worthy of him?”
Yin Zheng gave a soft sigh. “Why do you make things so hard for yourself?”
Ji Yang sneered. “Why be so hypocritical? Is this not exactly what you wanted?”
“Heh.” Yin Zheng finally turned to look at him. “Why put it like that? Did I force the breakup? Did you not break up with him because you were afraid he would find out why you were with him in the first place?”
“It is all because of you!” Ji Yang suddenly roared. “If you had not suddenly gone to the United States, how could I have ever been with him? Since you left, why did you have to come back! Why!”
“Ji Yang!” Yin Zheng looked at him expressionlessly, his tone freezing cold. “Do not act so innocent. Everything today is your own doing.”
Ji Yang could no longer hold himself up. Tears burst from his eyes as he collapsed against the wall.
When He Ran returned, he keenly sensed that the atmosphere in the room was wrong. Xue Yuanzhou sat there blankly, lost in thought. Meanwhile, Chu Shenxing’s eyebrows were knitted so tightly they could have crushed a fly.
“What is wrong? I was only gone for a moment. What happened? Why the long faces?” He Ran sat down, looking between them, and kicked Xue Yuanzhou’s shin. “Did you provoke him?”
Xue Yuanzhou remained silent. Chu Shenxing also remained silent. Chu Shenxing cursed him as an idiot in his mind! Unable to take it anymore, he said, “He Ran, I have something to tell you. Actually,”
“Brother Chu!” Xue Yuanzhou suddenly interrupted. When he realized both of them were looking at him, he said, “It is getting late. How about we head back?”
Chu Shenxing secretly grit his teeth, took a long breath, and stood up with a cold face. “Let us go.”
He Ran looked at his angry back in confusion and asked Xue Yuanzhou, “Did he eat gunpowder or something?”
Xue Yuanzhou helplessly pulled at his arm. “Let us go too.”
“What did he want to tell me just now?”
“Oh, his ex-girlfriend just called him wanting to get back together. From the looks of it, he is a bit tempted.”
“…”
“Fuck! That dog! I just damn well broke up!”
By the time He Ran settled the bill and went out to settle the score, he found that the person had already vanished. He could only give up.
Xue Yuanzhou felt an inexplicable urge to laugh and said, “Let us go. I will drive you home!”
“You are the best! With you around, I do not even need to call a designated driver.”
Xue Yuanzhou smiled and did not speak, focusing seriously on driving.
“I am going to squint for a bit. Call me when we get home.”
“Okay.”
Once He Ran fell asleep, Xue Yuanzhou slowly decreased his speed. It was already late at night, and there were not many cars on the road. Xue Yuanzhou was driving his other car today, a black limited-edition Lamborghini supercar. With its smooth lines and cool body, it should have been the king of the night. But at this moment, it was traveling as slowly and steadily as a turtle. Every passing vehicle cast curious and probing looks.
Xue Yuanzhou was unmoved and ignored them all. Even though he tried his best to drive slowly, he still arrived at the bottom of He Ran’s building an hour later. Because Ji Yang did not like detached villas, saying they made him feel too empty and lonely, He Ran had lived here with Ji Yang since graduation. It was located in the most high-end neighborhood in the city center, Jiangxin Villa.
Xue Yuanzhou rested his fingers lightly on the steering wheel and turned to look at the sleeping man in the passenger seat, his mind filled with swirling thoughts. He wanted to stay a little longer, but he was afraid He Ran would be uncomfortable sleeping in the car. He checked the time on his wrist and finally gave a soft sigh. “Ran-ge,”
He Ran’s brow twitched slightly as he slowly opened his eyes. He sat up straight and looked around. “We are here? That fast?”
Xue Yuanzhou pursed his lips. “Yes. Go up and sleep.”
He Ran rubbed his temples, opened the car door, and got out. He leaned down to speak to the person inside. “Drive slowly on the way. Message me when you get home.”
“Yes. Go on in.”
Xue Yuanzhou watched him walk into the building, then suddenly called out, “Ran-ge!”
He Ran turned around. Xue Yuanzhou smiled at him. “Goodnight!”
He Ran waved him off. “Go on back.”
Xue Yuanzhou was dissatisfied. “Why do you not say goodnight to me?”
He Ran laughed loudly, his voice filled with obvious amusement. “Goodnight, you little brat!”
