- Chapter 10 - How Is It? Do They Not Look Alike?
As he approached, Ji Yang became visibly tense. He Ran, however, did not look at him. He walked straight past him and took a seat on the other side.
Ji Yang let out a clear sigh of relief and relaxed slightly, yet he could not hide the sense of loss and bitterness that welled up inside him.
Yin Zheng gave a brief introduction, sharing only their names without providing further details. Through this, He Ran learned the names of the other man and woman. The man was Zhao Chenyang, and the woman was Zhou Jiayu.
“You are the younger President He, right?” Zhou Jiayu asked curiously from beside him.
He Ran glanced toward her. Though he did not recognize her, he replied politely, “If you are referring to the younger President He of the Chenyang Group, then that would be me.”
The Chenyang Group had originally been managed by his elder brother. In recent years, his family had been dedicated to expanding the business abroad. Consequently, his brother handed Chenyang over to him and moved overseas. Initially, people in their circle called him “the younger President He” to avoid confusion between the two. Although he was now the only President He at the company, some people still addressed him that way out of habit. Of course, He Ran did not particularly mind.
The woman was clearly excited by his answer. “I am a fan of Yanyan! You and Yanyan look so much alike. I guessed it was you immediately!”
“Is that so?” He Ran replied.
“Yes, yes, yes!” The woman nodded repeatedly, her eyes shining. “You are practically identical!”
He Ran strongly disagreed. How could he possibly look like that flamboyant peacock?
The “Yanyan” she spoke of was his younger brother, He Yan. Ever since he was a child, He Yan’s dream was to be an actor, but their father disapproved, believing it was not a legitimate profession. However, He Yan did not care for his approval. He secretly changed his university application behind the family’s back. By the time their father realized what had happened, He Yan had already packed his bags and fled to Beijing.
Their father could not exactly travel all the way to Beijing to drag him back. Coupled with their mother’s persuasion, he eventually let him be. However, he gave strict orders that no one was allowed to give He Yan any resources. His intention was to make He Yan give up and return home, but to everyone’s surprise, He Yan actually made a name for himself over the years.
During his school years, he participated in several large productions and won the Best Newcomer award. The following year, he successfully won the Golden Bird Film Award for Best Actor. At the age of twenty, he became one of the youngest Best Actor winners in Chinese history, becoming a household name. After that, his career took off even further. In just a few years, he won various awards one after another. He was only twenty-four years old this year.
Very few people knew He Yan’s true identity, but Zhou Jiayu was clearly not among them.
Zhao Chenyang, sitting beside her, asked curiously, “You mean that big star He Yan you like so much? Why would he look like this President He?” He was not from this circle and did not recognize He Ran. Seeing his girlfriend address him that way, he simply followed suit.
“Oh! That is not important!”
“Do you have a photo? Let me see,” Yin Zheng suddenly interjected.
“I do, I do!” The woman quickly pulled out her phone, lit up the screen, and turned it toward him. “Look, do they not look alike?”
She was clearly a true fan, as she had a photo of He Yan set as her lock screen. In the photo, the boy wore highly fashionable clothes and a trendy hairstyle. His features were handsome, his expression vibrant, and he smiled at the camera with an arrogant, unbridled air.
Yin Zheng froze for a moment. It was not that he was captivated by the person’s looks, but rather that the photo reminded him of He Ran during their university days. The first time he met He Ran, the man had that same reckless and spirited aura.
Ji Yang had remained silent from the beginning. He had met He Yan before, so he was not curious. However, he silently disagreed with Zhou Jiayu’s words. Those unfamiliar with them might think they looked similar, but once you knew them, it became clear that their personalities were worlds apart.
“How is it? Do they not look alike?” Zhou Jiayu asked expectantly.
Yin Zheng looked away and glanced at He Ran. He saw that He Ran was also looking at the photo, but his expression was one of pure annoyance. Yin Zheng found it amusing but did not let it show on his face.
He simply said, “At first glance, there is a resemblance, but if you look closely, they are not that similar.”
“Is that so?” Zhou Jiayu looked at the photo and then at He Ran. After a long moment, she finally nodded in agreement. “Looking at it this way, they are not that similar. This President He’s eyes are slightly longer than Yanyan’s, and his skin is a shade fairer.”
There was one thing she did not say. If Yanyan’s face was handsome, then this President He’s face was beautiful in a slightly wicked way. Especially those lips, which were red and moist, appearing very kissable.
Being stared at by several people made He Ran feel restless despite his composure. Just as he was about to say something, Yin Zheng spoke up first.
“Let us move on. It was not easy to get President He to join us. It is not polite to keep staring at him like that.”
Zhou Jiayu finally realized that her behavior was a bit rude. She quickly said, “My apologies! I was just too excited.”
“It is fine. If you like him that much, I will get you an autograph later.”
“Really!” Zhou Jiayu cried out, startling everyone. She was so excited that her cheeks turned slightly red, and she held her hands over her heart. “I really, really like Yanyan. Unfortunately, he does not attend events often, so it is hard to get his autograph. Oh! By the way!” She looked at He Ran expectantly. “Is it convenient to add you on WeChat?”
He Ran had only said it in passing and did not expect such a large reaction. At this point, he had no choice but to take out his phone. “Sure.”
“Ahhh! Thank you so much! I will scan you.”
He Ran opened WeChat, found his QR code, and held it out to her.
Beep. Beep.
He Ran froze and turned his head to look beside him. Yin Zheng waved his phone and smiled at him. “Remember to accept.”
He Ran was speechless.
Zhou Jiayu was surprised. “You do not have Ran Ge’s WeChat?”
Before Yin Zheng could speak, He Ran was startled by her calling him “Ran Ge.” This girl was far too familiar!
Zhou Jiayu smiled brightly at him. “Is it okay if I call you that? I feel that always calling you President He is too formal.”
He Ran replied, “Fine.”
Zhao Chenyang, beside her, pressed his palm to his forehead but looked at her dotingly. Yin Zheng, however, was not surprised. He put away his phone and said with a smile, “I just have not had the chance yet.”
Ji Yang’s expression was grim. He pursed his lips and remained silent. With several pairs of eyes on him, He Ran could not make things difficult. He had to accept the friend request, thinking he would just delete it once he got back.
Zhou Jiayu said, “Great, then we will keep in touch on WeChat. I might return to Beijing in a few days. You can just give the autograph to Yin Zheng then. I will find a time to get it from him.”
He Ran thought, “Why is everything always revolving around Yin Zheng!”
“That works,” Yin Zheng agreed readily. He said to He Ran, “Just message me when you have it. I will come and pick it up personally to save you a trip.”
He Ran was silent.
At that moment, he deeply regretted opening his mouth. Was he out of his mind? Why did he think it was a good idea to help someone get an autograph?
