Chapter 59: “Someone snuck into his room and did…”
When Shen Qingyu woke up, the space beside him was already empty. He reached out and touched the cold spot, only then realizing that Cheng Che might not have slept there at all last night.
After a quick wash, he went for breakfast. The hot spring resort hotel had a buffet breakfast. Shen Qingyu only saw Song Yu in the restaurant, smiling as he sat across from him to greet him.
“Morning, Song Yu. Why is your routine still so regular even on holiday?” Song Yu took a sip of soy milk. “I’m used to it.”
“Where are the other two?” Shen Qingyu looked around. “I don’t see them. Are they still sleeping?” “Probably.”
Shen Qingyu breathed a sigh of relief. After the exciting event last night… he wouldn’t be able to face Cheng Che again for a while!
A faint smile played on Song Yu’s lips. He asked, seemingly out of concern, “How did you sleep after… it was done?”
At the mention of last night, Shen Qingyu’s face flushed crimson as if on fire. He pressed the back of his hand to his cheek to cool down, vaguely answering, “It was quite good.” “That’s good,” Song Yu said meaningfully.
Shen Qingyu didn’t catch the meaning in his words. He finished eating quickly. “I’m going back to my room to lie down for a bit. My back is a little sore.” Song Yu nodded, watching his retreating figure, and let out a chilling smile.
…
On the way back, Cheng Che noticed that Shen Qingyu seemed to be avoiding him. He instantly had a bad feeling, but with the others present, he couldn’t explain himself right away. He was as anxious as an ant on a hot pan.
Shen Qingyu was deliberately avoiding Cheng Che. Because seeing him immediately brought back memories of that night’s frenzy. Shen Qingyu’s desires in this area had always been weak; he could count on one hand the times he had relieved himself, let alone having someone use their hand to help him. He didn’t know what was wrong with him. He clearly could have resisted that night, but he had succumbed. He even wondered if it was because Cheng Che had always been gentle and considerate to him, that when he suddenly became a bit rough, he could actually accept it.
After returning to school, Shen Qingyu took another shower. Lu Xiao had gone home for a family matter, and Song Yu, as usual, went off to study with his books. Since the library was closed during the National Day holiday, he had to study in an academic building.
Now, only Cheng Che and Shen Qingyu were left in the dorm. Shen Qingyu wished he could disappear into the floorboards.
Cheng Che stood by his bed. The curtain completely hid Shen Qingyu. He could only whisper, “Xiao Yu, can I talk to you for a moment?”
Shen Qingyu pulled the blanket over his face. “What is it?” Cheng Che sounded a little dejected. “Are you angry?”
“I…” Of course he wasn’t angry. How could he be angry? He was clearly shy, and embarrassed.
“I can apologize to you. After all, I didn’t keep my promise.” Cheng Che’s voice was low. His hand gripped the railing of the upper bunk, and the veins on the back of his hand pulsed.
When Shen Qingyu heard this, he was completely stunned. He yanked the curtain open with a swoosh. “What did you say?”
Seeing that his expression was somewhat off, Cheng Che took a deep breath and honestly confessed, “I was probably too tired yesterday. I fell asleep as soon as I got to my room and didn’t come to find you. Did I make you wait for a long time? It’s right for you to be angry. You can hit me or scold me, but please don’t ignore me…”
Shen Qingyu’s ears were ringing. His lips moved, but no sound came out. He leaned weakly against the wall, his eyes staring blankly at the empty floor.
What did he say? Cheng Che was asleep last night, he didn’t come to his room!
But… that fierce kiss, and that frantic hand, absolutely weren’t imagined! So someone snuck into his room and did that to him?!
Shen Qingyu felt a chill run down his spine, and his scalp tingled. Yes, the person who came in last night hadn’t said a single word. He had just unilaterally assumed it was Cheng Che.
Who could it be? Could it be Lu Xiao?
Shen Qingyu was at war with himself. When he looked up and saw Cheng Che’s features, he felt panic. He was a coward and didn’t have the courage to tell Cheng Che what happened last night. He could only force himself to hold back his anxiety and say, “How could I blame you? You’re overthinking it.”
Cheng Che observed his expression, noticed his smile was unnatural, and thought he had still hurt Shen Qingyu.
“It’s alright, just rest well for today. You’ve been exhausted these past few days.” Shen Qingyu forced himself to cheer up. “Tomorrow, we’ll go on a date, just the two of us.” “Okay, just the two of us.” Cheng Che wanted to touch his cheek but held back. He took Shen Qingyu’s wrist and kissed the back of his fair hand.
Lu Xiao returned in the evening. Since Cheng Che wasn’t there, Shen Qingyu subtly asked him what he did last night.
Lu Xiao replied without hesitation: “The hot springs made me sleepy the minute I got back to the room. I slept straight through until noon. Why?”
Shen Qingyu gripped the edge of the desk just to stay upright. He saw no sign of lying on Lu Xiao’s face. Besides, he knew Lu Xiao’s personality—he would never do something so sneaky. If he wanted to, he could just swagger in, as he hadn’t exactly lacked audacity before.
But if it wasn’t Lu Xiao, who could it be? It couldn’t possibly be Song Yu, could it?
The thought flashed through Shen Qingyu’s mind, and even he found it utterly ridiculous.
Song Yu always had a sense of boundaries, and his attitude toward him was neither warm nor cold. How could he possibly do such a thing?
Shen Qingyu felt like he was losing his mind. He rubbed his temples and lay back down on the bed. He couldn’t help but recall the impulse and madness of that night. In the pitch-black environment, all his senses were infinitely magnified, especially the intense stimulation.
When he came back to his senses, a layer of cold sweat had broken out on Shen Qingyu’s back. He couldn’t imagine what kind of person would sneak into his room in the middle of the night, impersonating another person to do such a thing.
As he thought about it, his stomach churned uncontrollably. He quickly rushed into the bathroom and vigorously washed himself with body wash until his skin was wrinkled from excessive soaking in the water. Only then did he walk out, exhausted.
…
The next day, Shen Qingyu and Cheng Che went on a date. They watched a movie, but Shen Qingyu was distracted the entire time. He kept turning his head to look at Cheng Che’s serious profile, wanting to tell him the truth, but the words would catch in his throat every time.
Sensing Shen Qingyu wasn’t quite right, Cheng Che wanted him to release some emotion. He suggested that Shen Qingyu accompany him to play ball, and Shen Qingyu readily agreed.
The indoor basketball court wasn’t too crowded. Cheng Che picked a hoop in the corner and taught him how to do a layup.
Shen Qingyu’s movements were clumsy. His three steps looked as if his limbs had just been tamed. Cheng Che watched his back and couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
Shen Qingyu held the basketball, turning back awkwardly. “What are you laughing at?”
“Okay, okay, I won’t laugh. Just see if you can throw it in.”
He used the word “throw” instead of “shoot.” This was a heavy blow to Shen Qingyu! So, holding back his annoyance, he violently threw the basketball.
The basketball hit the rim, spun around the edge, and then rolled onto the ground.
Shen Qingyu was a little dejected. He turned around for Cheng Che’s comfort: “Just missed it.”
Cheng Che simply half-squatted in front of him, opened his arms, and asked seductively, “Want me to hold you? You can definitely throw it in then.”
Shen Qingyu rolled his eyes at him. “What’s the point of that?” Isn’t that just deceiving myself?
Cheng Che shrugged and said, “Alright, never mind then.” He made to stand up, but Shen Qingyu’s look stopped him. He dutifully squatted down again: “Come on.”
Shen Qingyu hesitated for two seconds, then stepped forward and wrapped his arms around Cheng Che’s neck. Cheng Che easily lifted him up, effortlessly.
Shen Qingyu aimed for the hoop and decisively threw the ball in. With a thump, the basketball hit the ground. Cheng Che carefully set him down, then rubbed his head and praised him.
Shen Qingyu felt incredibly sweet. He knew Cheng Che was just indulging him, and he appreciated this gesture. The sweeter it was, the more uneasy, even terrified, he felt about what had happened that night.
For the next few hours, Shen Qingyu sat on the side, watching Cheng Che play seriously, his eyes seemingly sparkling with stars, which distracted Cheng Che every time their eyes met.
“Why did you stop playing?” Shen Qingyu handed him a towel and a bottle of water. “Are you hungry?” Cheng Che: “You keep watching me. I can’t concentrate on playing.”
“So it’s my fault then?” “How could I blame you? It’s my lack of willpower.” Cheng Che drank half the bottle of water in one go and sighed helplessly. “This basketball court is pretty close to my house. Want to come over to my place?”
Cheng Che didn’t have any ulterior motives. He just felt that Shen Qingyu’s mood hadn’t been good all day and wanted to see if taking him home to play games could lift his spirits.
Shen Qingyu couldn’t say no. Perhaps he wanted to go, or perhaps it was out of a sense of compensation. He agreed.
“My dad is away on a business trip, so it’s just my mom at home. Don’t be nervous.” He took Shen Qingyu’s hand and gently reassured him.
He remembered the warmth of Cheng Che’s mother from their first meeting. Thus, Shen Qingyu wasn’t resistant to the idea of going to Cheng Che’s house; he was even looking forward to feeling a mother’s warmth.
Cheng Che must have called ahead. When they arrived, Cheng Che’s mother enthusiastically came out to greet them and had already washed and placed fruit in Cheng Che’s room.
Cheng Che joked, “Xiao Yu, I only get to eat fruit my mom personally cut and delivered to my room because of you.” “Thank you, Auntie,” Shen Qingyu said politely.
“Don’t be shy with me. Tell me if you want anything,” Cheng Che’s mother said, smiling brightly. She loved his well-behaved and sensible manner and lightly chastised her own son, “Don’t you dare bully him.”
“How could I bully him?” Cheng Che felt wronged. He ushered his mother out of the room. “Alright, we’re going to play games now.”
The room became quiet. Shen Qingyu sat obediently on Cheng Che’s bed, silent.
“What do you want to play?” Cheng Che asked. “I don’t want to play games. You play, and I’ll watch you.” Shen Qingyu truly wasn’t interested. Playing games might make him feel worse, but watching Cheng Che play would help calm his mood.
Cheng Che sighed helplessly, “With you watching me, I can’t concentrate at all.” “Then what should we do?” “Want to watch a movie? Let’s watch one together.”
