Chapter 58: “Little Yu baby, sleep well.”
As expected, Shen Qingyu was bombarded with questions by Lu Xiao after returning to the dorm. However, he felt that he now had a boyfriend, so he consciously maintained his distance from Lu Xiao. Shen Qingyu also kept his replies simple regarding Lu Xiao’s questions.
With the National Day holiday approaching, Cheng Che asked him in advance where he wanted to go on a trip.
However, Shen Qingyu felt that plane tickets during the holiday were too expensive, and the tourist crowds would be too large, so it wasn’t necessary. He suggested traveling during the off-season instead.
Cheng Che thought his idea was very sensible, but still wanted to travel with him.
A thought sparked in Shen Qingyu’s mind: “How about we take a road trip to a nearby city?”
“That sounds great! Which city do you want to visit?”
“Let’s go see the ocean, and maybe go soak in some hot springs.”
“Okay, I’ll start planning now.”
After discussing the practical details, the atmosphere quieted down. Shen Qingyu and Cheng Che looked at each other, both seeing a hint of longing in the other’s eyes. Since their other two roommates were absent, it felt wrong not to take advantage of this perfect opportunity.
Cheng Che slowly leaned closer to him, raised his hand to cup his chin, and gently rubbed it with his thumb. Shen Qingyu’s heart rate sharply accelerated, and he tilted his neck up to meet him.
The dorm door made a “screech” sound. Shen Qingyu saw Cheng Che’s face fall, but he still had to release his face.
It was Song Yu returning, and his timing was impeccable.
Song Yu only had morning classes today. He had successfully transferred to the School of Economics and Management and, somehow, had communicated with the school to avoid moving out of the PE College dorm.
It was rare for him to return so early, and Shen Qingyu was a bit surprised. “Why are you back?”
Song Yu’s calm, sharp gaze swept over the two of them. He seemed to instantly detect the ambiguous tension in the air, and his tone was somewhat stiff, “Did I return at a bad time?”
This was the first time Shen Qingyu had been retorted to by Song Yu in such a way. He felt a little uneasy and said awkwardly, “That’s not what I meant… how was your first day of class in Economics and Management?”
Song Yu lowered his eyes. “It was good.” He took two books out of his bag and handed them to Shen Qingyu. “The books you couldn’t find last time, I happened to see them today.”
Shen Qingyu was taken aback. He remembered casually mentioning to Song Yu in the library that he couldn’t find the all-English novel recommended by his professor. He hadn’t expected Song Yu to remember and actually find them for him.
“Thank you,” Shen Qingyu took the two books, feeling he must have misjudged the situation earlier. Why would Song Yu be rude to me? “By the way, I think we should celebrate your successful transfer!”
Uncharacteristically, Song Yu didn’t decline. He nodded and said, “Then let’s take a trip to a nearby city during the National Day holiday.”
Cheng Che frowned and looked at Shen Qingyu.
Song Yu keenly sensed their eye contact, and let out a light, mocking chuckle: “Forget it if it’s inconvenient.”
Shen Qingyu was conflicted. After all, this was the first time Song Yu had proactively suggested going out to play together. If he refused, would Song Yu be hurt? Given Song Yu’s reserved personality, he definitely wouldn’t show his sadness…
“It’s not inconvenient. How about our whole dorm goes together?” Shen Qingyu winked at Cheng Che, deliberately trying to be cute. Anyway, the National Day holiday was long. They could spend the first few days with the roommates and then Cheng Che could have a separate trip as compensation afterwards.
Although Cheng Che was a little unwilling, he kept quiet. He had pledged to unconditionally support any decision Shen Qingyu made. Furthermore, if it were just the two of them on a road trip, Shen Qingyu had a license but hadn’t practiced driving, so driving on the road would be inconvenient.
After the decision was made, Shen Qingyu immediately informed Lu Xiao.
Lu Xiao was still upset about Shen Qingyu and Cheng Che going out to dinner and then being dismissive of him when they returned. When Shen Qingyu invited him to join the road trip, he initially pretended to refuse, waiting for Shen Qingyu to coax him. Shen Qingyu naturally saw through his little ploy and reluctantly invited him again, which was when he finally agreed.
The four of them set off on the night before National Day, taking the highway straight to the neighboring coastal city. While Cheng Che was driving, Shen Qingyu kept talking to him, worried that he might get drowsy on the highway at night.
Fortunately, they reached their destination smoothly.
They first went to the beach to watch the sunrise. As a boy from an inland region, Shen Qingyu had always yearned to see the ocean. Watching the sunrise by the sea was one of the must-do things on his life list.
The beach in the early morning was damp, cold, and quiet. Shen Qingyu sat on the sand in his baseball jacket, listening to the sound of the waves.
When the sun rose from the sea line, Shen Qingyu was dozing off. Cheng Che softly called his name. He lifted his head just in time to see the golden halo enveloping the land.
“The sun is rising!” Shen Qingyu exclaimed in delight.
Even Song Yu took out his phone to capture the brief beauty of the moment.
The sea surface shimmered with golden light, as if covered with a layer of sparkling fragments. Occasionally, a few seagulls circled low in the air. Shen Qingyu tore off a small piece of bread, and the seagulls fluttered their wings, circling above his head before snatching the bread and flying away.
After fully watching the sunrise, Shen Qingyu felt revitalized and wasn’t sleepy anymore.
Hotels were hard to book during National Day. Since their location was far from the city center, they had pre-booked a seaside B&B.
After arriving at the B&B, Shen Qingyu took a shower but couldn’t fall asleep, tossing and turning. He quietly went out, checked on the other three rooms one by one, peering at the doors to see if the others were asleep.
Lu Xiao was deeply asleep. Shen Qingyu casually helped him pull up the blanket he had kicked off. Song Yu was lying quietly on the bed, his sleeping posture very orderly.
Cheng Che was lying in bed trying to drift off to sleep. He heard footsteps, looked up, saw it was Shen Qingyu, got out of bed, pulled him inside, and locked the door.
“Why aren’t you sleeping?”
Shen Qingyu sat cross-legged opposite him, both his hands tightly held by Cheng Che.
Shen Qingyu said, “I suddenly lost my sleepiness and can’t fall asleep. Why aren’t you asleep yet?”
“I’m the same as you,” Cheng Che said. “It’s late now. Why don’t you sleep here with me? I can read you a bedtime story.”
Shen Qingyu was tempted. “What if we get caught if I sleep in your room?”
“Don’t worry. Lu Xiao will definitely wake up the latest, and Song Yu’s room is at the very end. Unless he deliberately walks over, he won’t notice.” Cheng Che pinched the flesh of his cheek. “So you can safely sleep here.”
Shen Qingyu squinted and smiled, “Okay, I’ll listen to you.”
“What kind of bedtime story do you want to hear?”
Shen Qingyu lay down, pulled up the blanket, closed his eyes, and thought: “Then tell me about your past.”
“My past?” Cheng Che was startled. “But I don’t have many stories. It was mostly studying and training every day.”
“It’s okay. I still want to hear it. Hurry and tell me.” Shen Qingyu lay on his side, tightly hugging Cheng Che’s arm like a pillow.
Cheng Che kissed his forehead and said, “Alright, let me think about where to start.”
…
The next day, Lu Xiao drove. They cruised along the coastal road, enjoying the scenery along the way, and ate many local seafood delicacies. This city didn’t have much nightlife, so they returned to the B&B to play games around nine o’clock.
Shen Qingyu, exhausted from concentrating all day, returned to his room to sleep after only playing for a short while. Song Yu also went back to his room to rest after Shen Qingyu left. Only Cheng Che and Lu Xiao were left looking at each other. The two of them didn’t get along, finding the other irritating in every way. They dropped their controllers and left.
On the third day, they went to soak in hot springs. The four of them were in a large pool. Shen Qingyu, wrapped in a special towel, had his fair skin exposed. He tentatively dipped a foot into the water; it was a little hot but acceptable. His face was flushed from the steam, and he occasionally stuck out his rosy tongue to lick his lips—an innocent gesture that drew the attention of the “wolves and tigers.”
Enveloped by the hot water, Shen Qingyu felt his skin breathing, which was incredibly comfortable. Midway through, after using the restroom, Shen Qingyu was suddenly pulled into the changing room. In his startled gaze, Cheng Che couldn’t resist pecking his lips.
“You…”
Cheng Che: “I really couldn’t resist, Xiao Yu… why are you so beautiful?”
His voice was infatuated. Even though Shen Qingyu had been called “beautiful” by countless people, he was powerless against this tone. This time, Shen Qingyu deeply understood the meaning of “infatuation.”
“Don’t push against me… someone is going to come in soon,” Shen Qingyu’s blush extended from his cheeks to his neck. He slightly pushed Cheng Che away, feeling awkward.
Cheng Che buried his head in the crook of his neck, took a deep breath, his voice muffled: “Just a little longer.”
Shen Qingyu bit his lip and whispered, “How about you come to my room tonight? I’ll leave the door unlocked for you.”
This was a huge, unexpected joy for Cheng Che. He suddenly looked up, “Okay, wait for me then.”
They left the changing room one after the other, missing Song Yu, who walked out from behind the changing room lockers after they left.
The hot spring resort had a hotel. Shen Qingyu turned off the lights and waited for Cheng Che on the bed that night. But Cheng Che didn’t arrive until after midnight. Shen Qingyu was starting to feel sleepy. Just as he was about to drift off, the door was pushed open.
Shen Qingyu immediately sat up on the bed, ready to get down and turn on the light.
The hotel room was small, only two or three steps from the door to the bed. In the darkness, Shen Qingyu’s hand was seized. He didn’t struggle, just complained softly, “Why are you so late? I was almost asleep.”
Song Yu didn’t say a word. He held Shen Qingyu’s face and pressed his lips against his, but he never went deeper. Shen Qingyu grew a little impatient and proactively extended his tongue to probe.
Unlike the usual tender, lingering deep kisses, this one was fierce. Shen Qingyu felt a sense of control in the kiss. Even when he tried to catch his breath, he was stopped by the nimble tongue. He could only close his eyes in a daze, his hand hanging weakly on his shoulder.
The kiss was so intense that it took a long time for Shen Qingyu to steady his breathing. By this point, he was already pressed down on the bed by Song Yu. Shen Qingyu contentedly rubbed his hands up and down Song Yu’s back, as if playing a game with him.
However, Shen Qingyu also felt a little strange. He proactively tilted his chin up and rubbed it against Song Yu’s neck, saying, “Cheng Che… why are you so fierce?”
That’s right, this was the fiercest kiss Cheng Che had given him since they started dating.
Song Yu remained silent. He lowered his head and bit down lightly on Shen Qingyu’s cupid’s bow, causing the person beneath him to tremble slightly. His hand firmly clasped Shen Qingyu’s waist, pressing him toward the headboard.
Shen Qingyu was completely drained of strength and could only submit. He obediently lifted his legs to make space for Song Yu to settle into the blanket, but the hand on his waist maliciously slid under the blanket. His body instantly tensed up like a bowstring. He tried to evade, but was held down with more force. Eventually, his consciousness completely scattered in a blank haze.
After everything was over, Shen Qingyu’s cheeks were frighteningly hot. He was completely stunned, both ashamed and annoyed. He kicked out weakly, his voice trembling: “You… get up!”
His whiny tone didn’t deter Song Yu. He hugged Shen Qingyu, not letting go even as his legs thrashed. Only when Shen Qingyu kicked something hard did he calm down. His exhaled breaths were scorching hot, beating against Song Yu’s chest.
After a long while, Shen Qingyu fell into a deep sleep. Only then did Song Yu reluctantly let go, placing a kiss on his forehead, his voice obsessive and cold: “Little Yu baby, sleep well.”
