Chapter 51: “Then I’ll just have to come out naked.”
As expected, Song Yu tightly embraced him.
Shen Qingyu heard his strong heartbeat, which was completely unlike the calm and steady demeanor he usually displayed.
“Be careful,” Song Yu gently reminded him, letting go of his hands very deliberately.
Shen Qingyu patted his chest, slightly palpitated, and said, “I almost fell. Good thing you were here.”
As soon as the words “Good thing you were here” came out, both of them were momentarily stunned, especially Song Yu. He had never imagined that Shen Qingyu would say those words to him one day.
Song Yu was silent for a moment, then gave a faint “Mhm.” But Shen Qingyu noticed that his tight lips subtly curved upwards.
His phone vibrated. Shen Qingyu took it out and glanced at it. He was about to tell Song Yu that he needed to continue helping the new students, but it turned out to be a message from Song Anran, asking him to take his lunch break first. After he ate, she would go eat, ensuring that there was always at least one person at the welcome booth.
He smiled, put away his phone, and asked, “Have you had lunch? Want to go together?”
Song Yu nodded in agreement.
As they walked into the cafeteria, Shen Qingyu suddenly recalled the day he greeted Song Yu in the cafeteria long ago. Back then, Song Yu was cold and distant. Now, they were eating together, which felt like a rapid improvement in their relationship.
Thinking of this, Shen Qingyu couldn’t help but smile secretively, pursing his lips.
Shen Qingyu hadn’t seen the cafeteria this crowded in a long time. In addition to new students, there were many parents of new students, their faces filled with anticipation and reluctance to part. Shen Qingyu looked through the endless stream of unfamiliar faces and felt as if he were seeing himself a year ago, just stepping into Wen University.
They wandered for a long time but couldn’t find an empty table, so they had to pack up their lunch to eat back at the school.
On the way back, Shen Qingyu suddenly sighed, “With so many new students, I can already predict how crowded the cafeteria will be once classes officially start… we’ll be back to those days of fighting for food.”
Song Yu let out a low laugh.
Shen Qingyu didn’t know what he was laughing at, so he chuckled dryly in response, although his laugh sounded rather pathetic.
When they got back to the classroom to eat lunch, Shen Qingyu suddenly understood what Song Yu had been laughing about.
With the library opening at six and classes starting at eight, Song Yu could even go for a morning run, study for a while at the library, and then head to class. With this kind of “staggered schedule,” he probably rarely experienced the feeling of “fighting for food.”
Shen Qingyu often admired his disciplined routine. How much sheer willpower did it take to achieve that?
However, he heard that Song Yu had been preparing to change his major since the end of the last semester. At most, in less than a month, Song Yu would likely be studying the major he truly wanted.
Shen Qingyu deeply admired him. The requirements for changing majors at Wen University were a comprehensive score in the top 10% of the major, followed by two rounds of interviews before the transfer could be finalized.
But given Song Yu’s qualifications, Shen Qingyu wasn’t worried at all.
…
Returning to the dorm in the evening, Shen Qingyu took a shower and lay down on the bed to stretch. He was utterly exhausted today, especially his arms, which had been lifting heavy objects all day. If he didn’t relax them properly, they would definitely be sore tomorrow.
When Cheng Che returned, he saw Shen Qingyu with his butt sticking up, his head buried hard into his knees, in a very strange posture.
“What are you doing?” Cheng Che placed the freshly squeezed watermelon juice in the hanging basket next to his bed. “I brought you some fresh watermelon juice.”
Shen Qingyu maintained the stretching posture, turning his head with difficulty. His face was contorted in pain: “Thanks, I’ll drink it later. I’m stretching.”
“Do you need help? Is it inconvenient to do it on the bed?” As a sports student, he was an expert on stretching.
“I don’t have a yoga mat, so I have to use the bed,” Shen Qingyu reminded himself mentally not to forget to buy a yoga mat online so he could stretch on the floor later.
Cheng Che said, “You should have said something earlier. I have one.”
Shen Qingyu sat up, his muscles relaxing all over: “Then can I borrow it from you!”
Cheng Che smiled and said, “It’s fine. I don’t use it much now. Just take it and use it. Save yourself the trouble of buying one.”
Since he offered, Shen Qingyu had no reason to refuse. He cheered, took a big gulp of the watermelon juice, which even had small pieces of watermelon pulp in it. He chewed and said, “So sweet!”
Cheng Che helped him down from the bed, his steps a little unsteady. “Be careful, don’t twist your ankle.”
“I won’t, I won’t.” Although Shen Qingyu responded quickly, he still held tightly onto Cheng Che’s arm.
Cheng Che spread out his black yoga mat and stood aside to watch him stretch.
Shen Qingyu had a small frame and very little body fat. His waist was slender, and his legs even more so. When he lay face down on the yoga mat, his waist, which looked like it could be gripped with just two hands, was exposed. Cheng Che silently opened his hands to measure, feeling that he could easily wrap both hands around Shen Qingyu’s waist.
Cheng Che’s Adam’s apple bobbed up and down. His gaze drifted over Shen Qingyu’s back, but ultimately, he couldn’t control it from settling on his full bottom.
Although he was very thin, the areas that should have flesh had plenty.
Especially when he moved, his perky buttocks would tremble, creating a ripple in the air, making it even harder for Cheng Che to look away.
Cheng Che stared for a while and felt dry-mouthed and dizzy, as if he were about to get a nosebleed.
He rubbed his nose and casually changed the subject: “Want to play games together later?”
Shen Qingyu had run out of energy. He collapsed onto the yoga mat with a splat and said lazily, “Sure, but I don’t have much energy left, so I might be terrible.”
“It’s fine, I’ll carry you.” Cheng Che had confidence in this. He noticed Shen Qingyu was a little sweaty and proactively handed him two tissues.
The moment their fingertips touched, Shen Qingyu felt a jolt, as if he had been electrocuted, and his whole palm became tingly.
“Then let’s log on now.” Shen Qingyu said with high spirits, feeling ready to charge into battle the next second.
He wasn’t bad at games; he belonged to the steady school of players, which often made him miss opportunities. However, since he started playing with Cheng Che and Lu Xiao, he rarely had this problem. He usually did whatever they told him to do, making him the most sought-after support for both of them!
Lu Xiao wasn’t in the dorm when he returned and still hadn’t come back, so Shen Qingyu couldn’t be blamed for playing games alone with Cheng Che.
Shen Qingyu rubbed his hands together, logged into his account, and started a happy duo queue with Cheng Che.
Unfortunately, one of the matched teammates was a couple who instantly locked in support and jungle. Cheng Che mainly played AD carry, so only the mid-lane and top-lane positions were left for Shen Qingyu. Shen Qingyu chose mid-lane without thinking.
Knowing how difficult this round would be for Cheng Che, Shen Qingyu cleared the mid-lane and immediately went to help gank the bottom lane.
The support and jungle were glued together from the start, appearing in places no one would expect, like sleepwalkers, causing the other teammates to complain bitterly.
Only because Cheng Che had a good temper—if it were any other AD carry, they would probably have started yelling into the mic by now.
Shen Qingyu played a standard game. He thought this round was a guaranteed loss, and his teammates initiated several surrender votes.
“Who voted to surrender again!” Shen Qingyu said angrily.
“Ignore them. We can still win,” Cheng Che said firmly.
His side profile was focused, and his well-defined fingers danced across the screen, executing some very cool moves.
Shen Qingyu believed in him completely. While cheering him on, he didn’t forget to compliment himself: “Mhm, the two of us can definitely turn the tide!”
Cheng Che chuckled.
After a hard-fought battle and their tenacious efforts, they very narrowly secured victory in this game.
Shen Qingyu was physically and mentally drained. He lay on the yoga mat: “Cheng Che, you are seriously amazing.”
“Not really. The opponents were just too weak.”
“The main thing is your strong mindset. You didn’t give up with teammates like that. If it were me, I would have broken down during the first team wipe. That jungler was just terrible!” Shen Qingyu said indignantly.
“You were great too. Your Xiao Qiao was played very well.”
His tone was serious, and his expression didn’t look fake, but his words made Shen Qingyu a little skeptical. He even felt that Cheng Che had too much of a filter on him; otherwise, he absolutely wouldn’t have said that.
Shen Qingyu touched his neck, just about to say something when the dorm door opened.
Lu Xiao had been at the gym for quite a while. When he returned, his bulging muscles were covered in a thin layer of sweat. He took off his short-sleeved shirt, wiped his sweat, and asked, “Are you two secretly playing games without me?”
“What do you mean, without you?” Cheng Che was displeased and scoffed. “Do we need to hide playing games from you?”
“Yeah, we’re playing openly. You weren’t here.” With someone covering his back, Shen Qingyu’s words were more forceful, even a little provocative.
Lu Xiao was furious with the two of them. “Fine, you two are something else!”
He cursed under his breath and slammed the bathroom door shut.
A moment later, the sound of running water could be heard inside.
Shen Qingyu and Cheng Che took the opportunity to start another game. They were in the middle of a fierce match when Lu Xiao’s muffled voice came from the bathroom: “Shen Qingyu, hand me my towel.”
“…Come out and get it yourself. I’m playing a game,” Shen Qingyu said without thinking.
Lu Xiao seemed to be standing right by the door. His voice was close to Shen Qingyu, and his tone was flippant: “I washed my clothes. If you don’t bring it to me, then I’ll just have to come out naked.”
Cheng Che’s expression darkened. Lu Xiao always used these kind of low-down tactics to bully people.
“Xiao Yu, ignore him. I’d like to see if he dares to come out naked.”
Shen Qingyu was in a dilemma. He certainly didn’t want to obediently fetch the towel for him, but he even less wanted to see a muscular, fully nude man with eight-pack abs and smooth lines appear in their dorm room.
Noticing Shen Qingyu’s discomfort, Cheng Che proactively backed down: “I’ll get it for him.”
Lu Xiao’s towel was draped on the clothesline on the balcony. Cheng Che stood up, picked up a corner of the towel with a look of disdain, and flicked it in the air.
The towel was freshly washed, but in Cheng Che’s eyes, it seemed like some kind of dirty object.
Shen Qingyu figured this was probably their mutual repulsion as rivals.
Cheng Che knocked on the door impatiently: “Open up, towel.”
Lu Xiao heard his voice and was also annoyed: “Why are you doing it? I want Shen Qingyu to bring it to me.”
“Do you want it or not? If you don’t, I’m throwing it out,” Cheng Che countered aggressively, threatening him forcefully.
Lu Xiao’s scheme failed. He reluctantly opened the door a tiny crack, “swooshed” the towel away, and let out a very loud “tsk” sound, clearly showing his disgust that his item had been touched by Cheng Che.
Shen Qingyu, who was watching the show from the side, secretly peered around, trying to catch a glimpse of whether Lu Xiao was truly naked.
Unfortunately, Lu Xiao’s opening and closing of the door were too quick. Shen Qingyu didn’t see anything clearly.
He actually felt a little disappointed.
