- Chapter 61 - Pretending to Feed the Cat So OOC
In the back seat, the streetlights outside the window were sliced into fragmented shimmers by the speeding car, casting an otherworldly allure over the man’s face.
He was enveloped in a mysterious interplay of light and shadow.
Fan Yi recalled everything that had happened at the venue earlier. Whether the two words he’d uttered afterward were considered elegant or not, he didn’t know, but in human society, they were certainly insulting and aggressive enough.
Fan Yi lowered his head, took out his phone, and tapped incessantly on the screen.
Finally, he narrowed his eyes slightly, a triumphant smile flashing across his face.
8856 could tell at a glance that he had been up to no good in secret.
“Is there something worth celebrating?” Si Tang asked.
“Hmm, there certainly is.” Fan Yi chuckled softly as he turned off his phone, making sure to destroy any evidence.
The next day, big news broke in the imperial capital.
It was said that He Moheng, the second young master of the He family, had been dragged into an alley and beaten right after leaving the venue the day before. Though his limbs remained intact, his face was left in a pitiful state, swollen to the point of resembling a pig’s head.
He Moheng couldn’t help but feel that he was plagued by bad luck. Not only had his backside been sore for days, but now his face had been pummeled. Fortunately, his career was flourishing more than ever. On the very night his face was beaten, several business partners called to discuss collaborations. Unable to meet in person due to his condition, he had to send representatives to follow up on his behalf.
Yet, he couldn’t pinpoint who was behind the attack. The only thing he was sure of was that the perpetrator seemed to harbor a deep-seated hatred for his face likely out of sheer envy.
At Haiyuan Villa, 8856 quickly learned the news of He Moheng’s beating and his subsequent career boost. Not only that, but Xi Mo Jewelry, founded by Si Xi just last year, had also secured several major orders. 8856 couldn’t help but sigh at how charmed the son of fortune’s life seemed.
And He Chengzhou, the reincarnation of Chen Lin, had never had his luck drained from the start truly remarkable. But the origin of these design blueprints.
“This guy’s luck needs balance. The worse his misfortune, the greater his fortune. Isn’t that just infuriating?” 8856 wrinkled his nose in complaint.
“As long as he stays out of my sight,” Fan Yi snorted coldly, untying the apron with a kitten pattern from his waist. The meal had already been fully laid out on the table.
After setting the utensils, he said, “She’ll be downstairs soon.”
With that, he clapped his hands, swiftly grabbed Tangtang by the scruff of her neck from where she was huddled in the corner, and pressed her down in front of the cat bowl. He scooped up the pre-prepared cat food and poured it into the bowl, pretending to feed her.
“Good Tangtang, time to eat~” he cooed in a tone he had practiced countless times in his heart, his voice gentle and lilting.
8856: Goosebumps all over. So OOC.
Trident: So terrifying. I wish I were deaf. Dead ears, don’t listen! Forget it quickly!
Tangtang: Trembling with fear.
The next moment, Si Tang appeared at the top of the staircase, stretching lazily. She was dressed in a sharp, professional outfit, descending the stairs with leisurely grace.
Her black tailored blazer accentuated her slender waist, while the white silk blouse underneath was slightly unbuttoned, revealing her delicate collarbone. Beneath her cool, almond-shaped eyes, the tip of her nose was adorned with a tiny mole, adding a touch of charm and sweetness. Out of habit, she tucked her waist-length black hair behind her ear.
The moment she descended the stairs, Si Tang’s gaze was involuntarily drawn to a figure. Fan Yi was crouched in front of the cat bowl, his slender fingers gently stroking the cream-and-white back of Tangtang. He wore a light gray casual suit, no tie, the collar slightly open, his entire body bathed in the morning light, the lines of his profile impossibly soft.
But Tangtang was rather timid, huddled in front of the bowl without moving, its fluffy tail drooping between its hind legs a clear sign of fear.
“Good morning, Fan Yi, Xiao Liu,” Si Tang approached with a smile.
Fan Yi looked up, the sunlight swirling in his faintly blue-tinged, smiling eyes, his voice deep and magnetic. “Morning, Tangtang.”
With that, he released the kitten and subtly tucked his hand behind his back, shaking it off as if in distaste.
Ugh, he hated cats.
(Author’s note: He just can’t bring himself to like them unless Tangtang turns into a cat.)
Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed Si Tang crouching down, gently poking Tangtang’s ear with her fingertip, her eyes curving into gentle crescents, her whole being radiating a warm, glowing aura. In that instant, Lord Fan Yi felt an inexplicable tug at his heart.
“I’ve prepared breakfast,” Fan Yi said, pulling out a chair for Si Tang like a gentleman.
8856 was already waiting there, fortunate enough, thanks to Si Tang, to one day taste a meal personally made by Lord Fan Yi.
So delicious!
After the meal, Si Tang, Fan Yi, and Xiao Liu headed to the company, Xing Nian.
Fan Yi shot a glance, and Xiao Liu tactfully took a seat in the reception area while Si Tang and Fan Yi entered the office.
Si Tang handed the design segmentation sketches to Fan Yi.
The piece of imperial green jadeite had been meticulously divided into three parts: the purest central area was cut into a cabochon, intended for a necklace pendant. The slightly lighter but evenly textured section was shaped into squares, to be set into earrings. The remaining fragments were polished into small beads, forming a bracelet.
“This design.” Fan Yi looked at the sketches Si Tang showed him and smiled. “Not bad.”
How much did he really understand about design? As long as it was Sī Tang’s work, it was naturally perfect in his eyes.
“If this design is fine, I’d like to name it the ‘Bi Luo series,Bi Luo as in ‘searching the highest heavens and the deepest earth,'” Si Tang said.
“Very fitting,” Fan Yi nodded in agreement. “This shade of green truly seems to come from the sky.”
Si Tang smiled slightly, then sat at the desk and opened her computer.
Turning her head toward Fan Yi, she said, “Come here, let me show you the latest 3D cutting simulation.”
Fan Yi walked over and bent down behind her. His cool, intense fragrance enveloped her senses, and Si Tang couldn’t help but drift off for a moment, that vague sense of familiarity brushing past her heart once again.
They were too close, their breaths nearly intertwining. His scent, like his body temperature, was slightly cool, sweeping over the side of her neck and sending a shiver through her.
Forcing herself to refocus on the computer screen, Si Tang naturally couldn’t see that the man behind her had shifted his gaze, his eyes darkening from ink-black to a deep, eerie blue, like a lurking demon baring its fangs toward the nape of the young woman’s neck.
Yet, of course, he couldn’t bring himself to devour her he only wanted her love and soul.
“Something’s off.” Si Tang suddenly frowned.
“What’s wrong?” Fan Yi reined in the turbulent emotions in his eyes and asked softly.
Si Tang didn’t answer immediately. Instead, she swiftly opened several folders to check, her expression growing increasingly grave. “Someone has been on my computer.”
She immediately pressed the intercom, “Security? This is Si Tang. Please pull up the surveillance records from the past week, especially the last three days.”
After hanging up, Si Tang’s fingers flew across the keyboard as she pulled up the computer’s login history. The screen showed a login record from 23:47 the previous night, lasting about fifteen minutes.
“That’s impossible,” Si Tang murmured, “I wasn’t in the company last night.”
Suddenly realizing something, her expression grew even more serious.
It seemed the insider who had been stealing design drafts was growing bolder daring enough to break into her office.
The security supervisor soon called back, “Vice President Si, the surveillance footage from 23:30 to 00:15 last night is completely snowy. All other time periods are normal. We’ve checked the equipment it appears to have been remotely hacked.”
Si Tang hung up the phone, deep in thought.
