- Chapter 48 - The White Dove and Him
Si Tang walked into the company, and as she passed by, employees promptly rose to their feet, displaying keen awareness.
“Good morning, Vice President Si!”
“Congratulations on your marriage, Vice President Si!”
It seemed the events of yesterday’s birthday banquet had been widely covered by the media and had already spread throughout the company.
Now she was the second-largest shareholder of the parent company, having risen from a position with no real authority to the pinnacle of power in one swift move, leaving everyone envious.
Si Tang entered her office and closed the door behind her. On her desk lay today’s newspaper, its front page featuring a photograph of her moving into Fan Yi’s home. The outside world had already been convinced of their loving relationship.
No sooner had she sat down than her assistant knocked and entered.
“Vice President Si, the cooperation agreement we finalized with the He Group a week ago has been abruptly called off by the other party.”
“What’s the reason?”They claim our design draft is suspected of plagiarism.””
“Any specifics?”They didn’t elaborate, only stating that their CEO personally halted the collaboration, mentioning that our brand, Xing Nian, is suspected of plagiarism.””
Upon hearing this, Si Tang’s cool, composed brows furrowed instantly, her expression turning serious. A failed collaboration wasn’t inherently a major issue, but the accusation that Xing Nian had plagiarized could severely damage the brand’s design reputation.
The He Group ranked among the top enterprises in the capital, currently under the legitimate leadership of He Chenzhou, the eldest son of the He family. Rumors painted him as a decisive and sharp individual with a ruthless insight, yet he maintained an extremely low-profile and mysterious presence, rarely appearing at public events or social gatherings. Si Tang had only caught a distant glimpse of him once and couldn’t claim to know him.
He was also the half-brother of He Moheng, though it went without saying that their relationship was far from amicable.
It was said that He Chenzhou didn’t even regard He Moheng’s existence as worthy of his attention.
“Inform them that I wish to meet with CEO He in person,” Si Tang instructed.
The assistant acknowledged the order and left, returning shortly after with a troubled expression.
“They refused.”
Si Tang narrowed her eyes, sensing that He Chenzhou was a tough nut to crack.
“Tell them that if they refuse to meet and clarify, Xing Nian will issue a legal letter regarding their defamatory statements about our company plagiarizing.”
The assistant nodded nervously and cautiously exited.
When gods fight, mere mortals suffer.
On the other side.
He Chenzhou stood silently, gazing out the floor-to-ceiling window at the towering skyscrapers of the capital, his dark eyes as calm as still water, as if nothing could stir a ripple within them.
Just then, his assistant knocked.
“Enter.”
The assistant bowed slightly and reported, “CEO He, Xing Nian has stated that if we don’t agree to a meeting to clarify matters, they will. issue a legal letter against us for defamation regarding the plagiarism accusation.”
Upon hearing this, the man by the window turned around. The He family genes were exceptional, and his face was strikingly handsome, exuding an aura of natural authority and the weight of someone who had navigated the complexities of power.
“Heh. With greater backing comes a bolder tone,” He Chenzhou chuckled lightly, his meaning ambiguous.
It wasn’t hard to guess who had the audacity to make such a statement. Yesterday’s news had already caused an uproar, the whole world knew that Miss Si had turned the tables overnight, becoming the second-largest shareholder of the Si Corporation.
“Quite interesting. I almost regret not witnessing that spectacle yesterday,” He Chenzhou remarked as he took a seat, elegantly lifting the lid of a tea cup and brushing off the tea foam with his long, pale, and impeccably noble fingers, his demeanor leisurely.
“I’m quite eager to meet this, Miss Si who publicly dumped He Moheng.”
After scheduling the meeting time with the He Corporation, Si Tang left work early in the afternoon.
“I’m waiting for you at the square next to your company building.”
A message from Fan Yi came through her phone as Si Tang stepped out of the elevator.
At the seaside square, Fan Yi leaned against the railing, gazing distantly at the sea. The salty sea breeze tousled his soft, ink-black hair as snow-white pigeons fluttered around him. He extended his hand, and one fearless pigeon hopped right into his palm.
He slowly curved his lips, lowering his gaze to the small, snow-white creature in his hand, a fleeting hint of bloodlust flashing in his eyes.
What did a pigeon taste like?
He couldn’t resist the curiosity and lightly licked the corner of his mouth.
Before he could close his palm and crush it, Si Tang’s voice suddenly came from behind.
“Fan Yi.”
Fan Yi immediately loosened his grip, a gentle smile gracing his features. With his other hand, he subtly used his divine power to draw a handful of wheat from a nearby pile of feed, then lightly scattered it. The flock of pigeons erupted around him like a wave of white foam.
He then turned slowly and spoke softly to Si Tang.
“You’re here. I was feeding the pigeons. They’re really adorable, aren’t they?”
To Si Tang, the scene unfolded like this:
The man’s eyes and brows were soft with a smile, his strikingly beautiful features unable to conceal a certain sacred purity a beauty untouched by the mortal world. The sea breeze rustled his clothes, making him appear like a deity filled with compassion for all living beings. The pigeons taking flight behind him seemed to proclaim him the gentlest sanctuary in the world.
After a moment of awe, Si Tang walked over, her gaze sweeping over the snow-white pigeons scrambling for food behind him. She smiled faintly.
“They are adorable. I didn’t expect you to be so compassionate.”
Fan Yi felt as if he were floating, his ears echoing with the words “so compassionate.”
He didn’t feel the slightest bit embarrassed and accepted the praise candidly. “I’ve always liked small animals.”
Si Tang blinked, let out a soft “oh,” and smiled as she lowered her head. For some reason, she found the refined and gentle Mr. Fan Yi oddly cute?
She looked up and said, “Let’s go, then. We can grab a meal first. I heard you like seafood, so I’ve already reserved a restaurant.”
As Si Tang walked ahead, she didn’t notice Fan Yi casting a regretful glance at the snow-white pigeons before following her.
This time, Si Tang didn’t dare let him drive. She personally drove to an upscale seafood restaurant.
The doorman pulled open the ornate copper door, revealing a lavishly decorated interior. A crystal chandelier hung from a seven-meter-high domed ceiling, while a wall-connected glass tank on the other side was filled with various rare marine creatures. At first glance, it felt like stepping into an underwater world.
“The owner of this restaurant clearly has a fondness for marine life,” Si Tang remarked.
“But that doesn’t stop them from eating it,” Fan Yi replied indifferently.
Si Tang chuckled. After they were seated, a waiter came to take their orders.
“Take a look. What would you like to eat?” Si Tang asked.
Fan Yi glanced at the menu briefly before turning to the waiter. “One of each of these, all raw.”
He had actually wanted to ask for them alive but was sure it would startle Si Tang.
Even the experienced waiter was taken aback. “…”
The stunned waiter didn’t know whether to ask, “Are you sure you want one of each?” or “Are you sure you want them all raw?”
This gentleman, with his extraordinary good looks, turned out to be quite an eccentric.
“Sir, the full set?” the waiter asked hesitantly.
For some reason, he suddenly felt a chill. This gentleman’s demeanor and bearing when he entered had given the impression of a mild-tempered gentleman.
But, why did his gaze now seem like he wanted to devour him?
Fan Yi suppressed the urge to call him an idiot and answered with a restrained “Mm.”
