- Chapter 47 - Not Eating Small Animals
Si Tang abruptly jolted awake and sat up in bed.
As expected, she was drenched in sweat.
Glancing at her phone out of habit, she saw it was 3 a.m.
She got out of bed and headed to the bathroom to shower again.
Her thoughts lingered on the repeated calls of “Tang Tang” in her dream, and before she knew it, Fan Yi’s face surfaced in her mind, along with the tone he used when calling her that.
Si Tang shivered involuntarily.
She shook her head, feeling she needed to schedule a follow-up appointment at the clinic soon lately, she kept having these unrealistic associations.
The next day, Si Tang woke up and went downstairs, assuming Xiao Liu and Fan Yi were both busy, only to find them si Tang on the living room sofa.
Xiao Liu was feeding the cat nearby. Tang Tang, hearing the commotion, meowed and ran over to rub against her ankles.
Si Tang’s heart melted at the sight, and she crouched down to scoop the cat into her arms. Someone on the sofa, whether intentionally or not, rustled the financial newspaper in his hands loudly.
Trident: Tsk.
8856: Sneaky laugh jpg.
Sure enough, the exaggerated rustling sound caught Si Tang’s attention, and the scene before her made her pause in surprise.
Fan Yi was sitting on the sofa reading the newspaper, his posture noble and elegant. The faint morning sunlight freely outlined his handsome profile, his slightly messy, soft hair taking on a gentle silver-gray hue. His long, upturned eyelashes were slightly lowered, half-concealing his gaze. He slowly turned his head toward her and gave a faint smile.
Every angle seemed meticulously perfect.
“You’re awake? Let’s have breakfast together,” Fan Yi’s gentle voice broke the silence.
He slowly set down the financial newspaper, which he hadn’t read a single word of shifted from his carefully pre-planned pose, and stood up from the sofa.
Si Tang walked to the dining table and noticed breakfast was already prepared, but there were only two servings.
“Thank you, Mr. Fan Yi,” Si Tang said as she sat down, looking at him curiously. “But, in such a large villa, haven’t you considered hiring a butler and a chef?”
Upon hearing this, 8856 immediately spoke up, “Brother usually cooks himself, and we hire hourly cleaners for tidying up. As for butler duties, I handle them. That’s how we did it overseas.”
After saying this, 8856 secretly winked at Fan Yi, as if seeking praise.
In the human dating scene, being able to cook is definitely a plus.
Si Tang nodded and looked at the exquisite Western-style breakfast in front of her. This Mr. Fan Yi really had impressive culinary skills.
“Tang Tang, you’re too polite. As I mentioned yesterday, just call me Fan Yi from now on.”
Si Tang agreed and instinctively glanced at the clean, empty spot on the table in front of him. “Have you already eaten?”
“Yes, that’s right.” A shadow flickered in Fan Yi’s eyes, feeling somewhat troubled.
After all, this could only deceive her temporarily sooner or later, his eating habits would be exposed.
8856 seized the moment to interject, “Brother has a rather unique palate; he prefers raw and fresh foods.”
“Ah? Like seafood?” Si Tang asked curiously without thinking.
“Raw seafood and meats are both fine,” 8856 blurted out, only to be immediately cut off by Fan Yi.
“Not small animals.”
8856:
Lord Fan Yi, how do you define “small animals”?
“So… seafood and common livestock like chicken, duck, cow, and sheep?” Si Tang said.
At this moment, Fan Yi felt somewhat confused and troubled, so he used telepathy to ask 8856.
“Aren’t seafood small animals? Little fish and shrimp are so tiny, why does Tangtang eat them too?”
“Tangtang loves small animals, so I can’t let her see me eating them. Does that mean it’s okay to eat larger animals? But giant pandas are so big, and humans don’t eat them either. Human definitions are truly bizarre.”
8856 had no choice but to reply, “As long as it’s not something fluffy and cute, it should be fine!”
Upon hearing this, Fan Yi’s gaze instinctively swept over Tangtang in the corner of the living room. He nodded as if enlightened, roughly understanding the idea.
So, Fan Yi nodded to her. “Yes, I only like eating these.”
Only when he saw no suspicion or disgust flash across Siting’s face did he feel relieved.
“What are your plans for today, Tangtang?” Fan Yi asked.
“I need to go to Xing Nian. The matter about the shares might have to be postponed my father was hospitalized last night.”
When mentioning her father’s hospitalization, a complex expression flickered across Si Tang’s face. She had long seen through Si Chenfeng; the only sentiment she held for him was from the years when her mother was still alive. Though, it might have all been that man’s pretense. It was laughable that her mother, even until her death, never saw his true nature.
“Alright, I’ll pick you up later. We can discuss the batch of raw stones we talked about last time in the evening.”
Si Tang agreed, feeling immensely hopeful about the raw stones Fan Yi mentioned.
After breakfast, Fan Yi offered to drive her. Si Tang didn’t refuse, but…
In his current state, could he really drive?
Si Tang in the passenger seat, Si Tang felt the car speed fluctuate like a roller coaster, her brow twitching nervously.
Even 8856, Si Tang in the back, couldn’t help but speak up, “Fan… Bro, maybe let me drive?”
8856 muttered inwardly: Do you even realize you’re driving with a fake license in the human world? Do you have any idea whether that driver’s license was legitimately obtained or not?
Fan Yi glanced sideways at Si Tang’s pale, frightened face and clicked his tongue inwardly. Reluctantly, he stopped the car and handed the wheel over to 8856.
But, a few minutes later.
After a moment of silence, Si Tang couldn’t hold back any longer and timidly suggested, “You probably don’t drive often abroad, right? How about, hiring a driver?”
The two beside her fell into simultaneous silence.
Fan Yi thought to himself, I should’ve just used a bit of divine power to control the wheels directly.
With her heart still racing from the scare, Si Tang arrived at Xing Nian. was a subsidiary of the Si Corporation and one of the mementos her mother had left her. After graduating, Lin Sui had insisted that Si Chenfeng hand over its management to Si Tang.
FanYi watched Si Tang enter the company but didn’t leave immediately. Instead, he fell into deep thought.
“The thread of fate shows that Tangtang will die of illness at 31, the root cause being the three-year-long slow-acting poison her stepmother Chen Yue administered. The toxins accumulated in her body over time.”
“However, since our reunion, I’ve noticed that because of my blood in her system, Tangtang is immune to all poisons and enjoys prolonged vitality. So, the poison naturally has no effect on her.”
That bite she gave him back then had led to such an unexpected outcome.
8856 couldn’t help but feel relieved upon hearing this. “That’s truly fortunate! So, at the very least, Miss Si Tang won’t meet a tragic end due to illness anymore. And she’s already seen through He Moheng’s true nature early on, so she won’t be tricked out of her shares.”
However. what 8856 didn’t voice was that no one understood better than it the terrifying nature of the invisible, self-correcting forces within fate. It seemed they couldn’t afford to let their guard down just yet.
A person’s predetermined fate wasn’t so easily altered, especially when it came to death.
Just as turning a living situation into a dead end was simple, reviving a hopeless situation was exceedingly difficult.
Still, with Fan Yi by her side, the problem would likely be manageable.
If Si Tang were truly to die at 31, this ancestor would surely go mad! Fan Yi’s current divine power wasn’t sufficient to traverse dimensions yet it would take at least a hundred years to recover fully. If Si Tang died prematurely, Fan Yi would undoubtedly lose his mind without her.
“I believe Tangtang will gradually ascend to the position of Si Corporation’s chairperson. What I must do is prevent her from being framed, falsely accused, and plotted against as in the original fate line. No one. should even think about harming her.” A fierce, dark intensity flashed in Fan Yi’s eyes.
