- After Teasing the Crazy Mermaid, He Actually Deceived Me into Marriage
- Chapter 31 - Breaking the Stalemate
Three years later.
Deep in the Atlantic Ocean.
Above the ruins of the Atlantean palace, a massive ice-blue crystal sphere loomed. Fan Yi reclined inside it, propping his head on his right hand. The shimmering scales of his silver mermaid tail intertwined with the shadows, creating a breathtakingly divine beauty. Yet, a bloody scar marred the side of his tail, adding a touch of fractured allure.
His trident, now rusted like a discarded weapon, lay beside him, appearing utterly harmless.
Bored, he lazily opened his left hand, where an amber pendant shaped like a leaf spun leisurely in his palm. He seemed entirely non-threatening, his azure eyes half-closed, his expression indifferent.
As if idling away the time, he called out to the outside of the crystal sphere, “8856.”
“Lord Fan Yi, I’m here,” 8856 scurried over obediently.
Over the past three years, out of sheer boredom, Fan Yi had ordered 8856 around every day today, he wanted to watch jellyfish dance; tomorrow, he demanded to hear whales sing. It was as if he weren’t here to serve a sentence but to vacation and torment it.
8856 inwardly groaned this wasn’t a prison for a criminal; it was a cage for a living ancestor.
Holding its breath, 8856 waited for the next command from this demanding master.
“I want to eat humans.”
8856: “…”
The golden light flickered violently in the seawater.
Great, the living King of Hell.
“Tsk.” Fan Yi lightly pinched his fingertips, tucking the amber pendant into his palm, and pursed his lips. “Slip of the tongue. I want to eat fish.”
8856 silently breathed a sigh of relief.
But then it immediately tensed up. The barrier formed by ice crystals was impenetrable. If it were to send fish inside, what if Fan Yi seized the opportunity to escape?
As if reading its mind, Fan Yi said calmly, “Before my elder brother left, the ice crystals on the Cosmic Scepter were set to auto-track. If I leave, they’ll forcibly restrain and drag me back. Besides, my divine power is severely weakened,I can’t even traverse dimensions. Where could I possibly go?”
8856 found this reasoning sound. More importantly, it was terrified of Fan Yi and didn’t dare disobey him.
“Lord Fan Yi, please wait a moment.” The golden light vanished.
At that moment, Fan Yi straightened up, his tail transforming into legs, and instantly flashed to the barrier of the crystal sphere.
The ice-blue shield resembled solidified ice crystals.
When 8856 returned, it was followed by a pod of whales. Silently reciting an incantation, 8856 opened a small breach in the barrier.
Drawn by an invisible force, the whales swarmed into the barrier.
However, unbeknownst to 8856, a massive school of fish outside the barrier seemed to have been summoned and surged forward, blocking the breach completely. 8856 could no longer discern Fan Yi’s whereabouts.
Sensing trouble, 8856 anxiously tried to close the breach when a pale, jade-like hand suddenly shot out from the midst of the fish, gripping its vital point.
The barrier, detecting the prisoner’s transgression, instinctively enclosed both Fan Yi and 8856 within it and dragged them back to their original positions. Yet, it couldn’t free 8856 from Fan Yi’s grasp.
8856: “…”
Everything had happened in the blink of an eye. The deity’s power, though restored to less than ten percent, was more than enough to destroy it.
8856: No, please! It was just a minor lackey, why was it always the one to suffer?
The man, with his silver hair and blue eyes, now had a gaze that seemed eerily demonic. He tilted his head, looking at the golden light, and slowly curved his lips into a sinister smile. His face was filled with malice, like a ghostly apparition.
“Tell me, what is the key command for the barrier?”
This time, 8856 showed remarkable backbone. It believed it shouldn’t let Fan Yi continue down this path, especially since it was obvious that leaving here meant he was going to find that human. Everything would spiral into chaos!
“Even if Lord Fan Yi crushes me this time, I won’t tell you!” 8856’s tiny voice trembled.
“Oh?” His smile deepened, his expression carrying a ruthless, maddened edge. “Then will you accompany me and this world in mutual destruction?”
He said it as casually as if commenting on the nice weather. It was as though, if hindered, he would make the entire world perish with him in a tragic romance.
8856 lamented its bitter fate: Am I and this world just part of your twisted game?
The golden light trembled even more violently, stunned into silence for a few seconds by Fan Yi’s madness.
Receiving no response after a long wait, Fan Yi frowned impatiently, his voice turning icy cold, like a hellish envoy chanting in 8856’s ear.
“You’d better think carefully. The Heavenly Order can be reborn, but if the 8856 world is gone, Divine Emissary 8856 will never see the light of day again.”
As his words fell, the trident that had been inconspicuous nearby suddenly stirred, manipulated into vibrating.
The newly awakened trident: ???
Three years, who’s calling it??? It was planning to sleep for another century! Wasn’t it supposed to be sealed for a hundred years?
The source of Fan Yi’s Sea God power coalesced into a ball of white light within him, on the verge of self-destruction. This power, one of the legacies left by the ancient creator gods, if destroyed, would bring consequences far beyond endangering just one realm.
Upon grasping the situation, both 8856 and the trident began screaming internally.
Lord Fan Yi has gone mad, completely mad!!
8856 cried out in panic, “Stop! I’ll tell you the command!”
A wise man knows when to yield. 8856 decided to let Fanyi go for now and then rush to the Chief God to report his escape!
The Chief God was benevolent. Though he might reprimand 8856 for its negligence, it was nothing compared to the dire consequences if things went awry. This time, it was determined to be an upright, loyal, and incorruptible divine emissary!
8856 recited a segment of divine incantation. Having achieved his goal, Fan Yi released it.
But before letting go, he shot a beam of white light into the golden radiance.
Before 8856 could comprehend what had happened, it realized its power had undergone a monumental change. The golden glow grew increasingly brilliant, its inner energy surging with nowhere to vent. If it wished, it could instantly transform into human form!
“Lord Fan Yi, you?!” 8856 was astounded.
This was unmistakably the power of the Sea God.
Fan Yi had forcibly transferred a portion of his Sea God power to it. What was he trying to accomplish?
By now, 8856 was well-acquainted with this fish’s wicked nature, he wouldn’t give away his power without reason.
Could it be. a bribe to prevent it from reporting to the Chief God later?
That wouldn’t do. It had sworn to be a fair and law-abiding divine emissary this time!
Yet Fan Yi’s next words ruthlessly overturned its assumptions.
“Alright, now we’re in this together.” Fan Yi calmly uttered the command. The massive crystal ball barrier instantly reverted to its original form a shard of crystalline light on the Cosmic Scepter, which Fan Yi tucked into his sleeve. 8856 sensed that things were far from simple.
Who wants to be on the same side as this lawless fish?! It wanted to walk in the light of righteousness!
It stealthily attempted to slip away and report to the Chief God.
“What? Still thinking of reporting me?” With a wave of Fan Yi’s hand, it obediently appeared before him.
“Do you think that with the divine power of my lineage flowing through you, you can still remain uninvolved?” Fan Yi’s smile was utterly malicious. “Do you believe the Chief God and the other deities would still trust your words? They would only think you deliberately let me escape.”
8856: The sky is falling!
