- Chapter 32 - The Pirate Ship
Who was Fan Yi? How could he possibly bestow divine power upon a mere divine attendant? Especially now, when his own power was severely depleted and he could barely take care of himself. He had no charitable inclination to share his power with others! There was no evidence to prove that Fan Yi intended to frame it!
8856: It wanted to cry and escape. The pirate ship had dragged it aboard just like that.
And so, 8856 was coerced into becoming an accomplice.
The trident quietly minimized its presence in the corner.
One could easily imagine how 8856 felt, and it could empathize deeply. After all, it had been aboard Fan Yi’s pirate ship for three thousand years.
8856 whimpered, “What about Lady Fate?”
The other gods still didn’t know that this fish had escaped, but Lady Fate controlled the threads of destiny for everyone. A world with too many anomalies would inevitably draw her attention.
The divine attendants of each realm’s heavenly order would truthfully report everything that happened in the worlds they governed. Those who were diligent and outstanding in their duties would have the chance to upgrade their realm’s level.
“Can’t you just conceal the report?” Fan Yi glanced at it with a look that said, “You’re too honest.”
8856: Truly a pirate ship.
Concealing a report was a terrifying prospect for an upright and loyal divine attendant! Would its realm still be eligible for an upgrade?
It was no different from telling a scholar that he would never qualify for the imperial examinations in his lifetime.
“What are you afraid of? You now possess a strand of my divine power and can even take human form. Isn’t that more substantial than some illusory title? You want to upgrade World 8856 for the sake of divine power, don’t you? Shana is just dangling a carrot in front of you. Even if you work diligently for tens of thousands of years, there’s no guarantee you’ll ever be able to take human form.”
Fan Yi’s deep voice was filled with temptation. He detested that goddess named Shana. Among all the gods, he knew she disliked him the most. Countless divine punishments had been initiated by her accusations, likely because he constantly disrupted the mortal realm. The two of them were natural adversaries.
8856’s current strength was now comparable to that of a minor deity.
But it had lost any chance of becoming an official divine attendant. The truth would come out eventually it was only a matter of time. Sooner or later, they would both be doomed!
At worst, Fan Yi would face some punishment, but what about it? It might be demoted to guard the desolate wastelands!
Just as 8856 was wallowing in despair, Fan Yi continued.
“Don’t be afraid. If the truth comes out in the future, I will tell my elder brother that I coerced you and ask him to show you leniency.”
8856 shifted slightly, its voice trembling. “Really, Lord Fan Yi? Gods aren’t supposed to lie, you know.”
The trident silently watched as 8856 was fooled into becoming an idiot by Lord Fan Yi. To accuse Lady Fate of dangling carrots in its opinion, no god was better at psychological manipulation than Lord Fan Yi.
“Of course.” Fan Yi’s smile turned gentle, his azure eyes clear and transparent, showing no trace of the madness that had gripped him earlier when he’d threatened it.
He continued to coax, “Now you can feel the power of the Sea God. Imagine the human form you wish to take in your mind.”
8856 squirmed uncomfortably, but under Fan Yi’s encouraging gaze, it began to envision the appearance it desired to assume.
A golden light flashed, and before Fan Yi appeared a youth of about sixteen or seventeen. Freshly transformed and initially naked, seaweed covered his body. He had striking features black hair, golden eyes, and a pair of dimples on his cheeks, giving him the appearance of a human boy. He clumsily patted and prodded his own face and body.
Who would have thought he was actually millions of years older than Fan Yi?
Fan Yi kindly fetched him a mirror and a set of modern clothes.
8856 felt a warmth in his heart Lord Fan Yi was unexpectedly considerate. He changed into the outfit.
The trident watched 8856 with envious tears; it too longed to take human form, or even just become an animal.
But unlike the consciousness of the Heavenly Dao, tool spirits are inherently confined to their vessels once attached, they become lifeless objects.
The cosmic staff of the Primordial Deity was born even earlier than the trident, having existed for billions of years, yet it remains a tool spirit to this day.
Suppressing his excitement, 8856 cleared his throat lightly. Under the mix of threats and persuasion, his tone softened considerably. “It’s not impossible for Lord Fan Yi to go find that human ”
It had to be possible, whether he liked it or not.
“But the human world has its own order and rules. Even deities entering the mortal realm must abide by the laws.”
Fan Yi listened half-heartedly.
“You cannot recklessly use divine power in the human world, cause panic, or disrupt human order. Otherwise, it could easily alert other deities, and the Primordial Deity would quickly notice.”
Fan Yi heard the words but paid little attention, dismissing them as unimportant.
After all. he didn’t plan to stay in the human world for long. The first thing he intended to do after finding Si Tang was to lock her away where no one could find her and force a bond.
He had been planning this for a thousand days and nights. She loved to run away so much, he would only feel at ease if she were forever chained to his side.
Even after a hundred years, as humans aged, fell ill, died, and reincarnated, he could still find her soul.
“Enough, stop the chatter,” Fan Yi said, already impatient to capture his runaway bride.
He grabbed the trident and swam toward the shore at an astonishing speed. 8856 immediately followed close behind.
They soon reached the shore. On a stretch of beach, humans were enjoying their seaside vacation.
Fan Yi and 8856 appeared silently in a secluded spot. Just as Fan Yi was about to head into the human world with his trident to search, 8856 quickly stopped him.
“Lord Fan Yi, don’t rush. I’ll help you arrange a human identity to make things easier.” He pulled out a human ID card from his pocket and handed it to Fan Yi, then hesitated, glancing at Fan Yi’s face.
Fan Yi shot him a cold glare. “What are you looking at?”
After a moment of silence, 8856 stammered timidly, “Knowing the human language isn’t enough. It would be best if Lord Fan Yi also learned human habits, behavior, and the current era’s clothing style.”
As he spoke, 8856 couldn’t help but glance at Fan Yi’s dazzling snow-white long hair and his tightly wrapped, dark robe. The attire of the upper realm somewhat resembled European medieval styles, with intricate and ornate patterns on the hem.
“And if not?” Fan Yi asked disdainfully.
“Otherwise. you’ll be mistaken for a cosplayer,” 8856 murmured softly.
Just then, Fan Yi’s strikingly eye-catching snow-white hair and breathtakingly handsome face instantly caught the attention of several human girls nearby.
“Who is that hottie? Is he cosplaying at the beach? How can someone be so good-looking? Those colored contacts look so realistic.”
“That boy is so cute, feels like an idol trainee from some company.”
“White hair is just too cool, I’m mesmerized. Is this even how a human is supposed to look?”
“Which big shot is cosplaying? I must get his autograph.”
Fan Yi: Humans, so noisy.
Unable to bear it any longer, he grabbed 8856 by the collar and fled without another word as the humans tried to approach.
The onlookers only felt a gust of wind, and by the time they looked back, the two figures had vanished from the shore, leaving them wondering if it was all an illusion.
A moment later, in a deserted alley.
8856 sighed, “Lord Fan Yi.”
8856 pointed to his own eyes, now black, and his small frame clad in a T-shirt and jeans, looking like a middle schooler from who-knows-where. No one would ever guess this was a living fossil billions of years old.
8856 wore an expression that seemed to say, “My disguise is perfect, right?”
The trident reasonably suspected that its human form, appearing as a fifteen- or sixteen-year-old boy, was an attempt to act youthful.
Fan Yi, with a cold expression, referenced a man on a distant billboard and reluctantly changed his hair to a short, dark ink color instead of the flashy white. His azure blue eyes also turned black. The dark hair and eyes subtly toned down the unreal beauty of his face, adding a touch of aloof elegance that made people overlook the underlying mischief.
8856 had no idea where he had gotten the clothes from, just a simple white shirt and black trousers. Once dressed, he rivaled top human models, exuding a cold, noble aura with breathtakingly stunning features.
After finishing his disguise, he glanced at the majestic trident by his side, pondered for a few seconds, and transformed it into a Swiss Army knife, twirling it in his palm.
The trident lamented: Couldn’t it have been turned into something cuter? Like a fluffy little bunny or something.
Once everything was done, Fan Yi stepped out of the alley and onto the bustling streets. Passing by a reflective shop window, he instinctively glanced at his reflection and seemed somewhat satisfied.
If not for the intimidating Swiss Army knife in his hand, he could easily be mistaken for a harmless, jade-like young master from some wealthy family.
“Lord Fan Yi, where will you live in the human world?” 8856 asked, trailing behind him.
Fan Yi seemed annoyed, as if wondering why it had to follow him around.
“Wherever I fancy,” he replied casually. “Why are you following me?”
“…” 8856 instinctively imagined Lord Fan Yi devouring the owner of a house and moving in.
8856: Bandit.
It stuck even closer, as if afraid that without its presence, Lord Fan Yi would run amok in the human world, defying all laws, only to be quickly discovered by the Chief God and then it would be doomed!
“Lord, I have to stay with you so we can better deceive the eyes of the Chief God and the Goddess of Fate!” 8856 insisted. “With me here, you can have a legitimate human identity and residence, which won’t draw attention!”
“Fine.”
The two walked further down the street.
“Lord Fan Yi.”
“Hmm?”
“Could you please stop playing with that knife? Have you seen what’s behind us?”
“?”
“The police are watching us.”
“…”
